New York Strip

Having dined at Lupi & Iris several times, I was excited to experience Chef Adam Siegel's newest creation, Il Ponte, which means "The Bridge" in Italian. The menu features many Italian-American classics, including house-made pastas and rich, flavorful sauces. We were fortunate to have Chef Siegel stop by our table during dinner. It was a treat hearing him talk about the work that went into creating the restaurant. I wish everyone had the opportunity to spend a few minutes chatting with him. Unlike the classic, old-school Italian restaurant, Il Ponte is bright and airy. And don't be surprised to spot the restaurant's pigeon mascot everywhere. You'll find it in a birdcage near the family dining table, on the wallpaper, on the menus and even on the staff aprons. It gives the restaurant a fun personality of its own. Il Ponte opened September 15, and some of the earliest Yelp reviews suggested there were still a few opening-week issues to work through. Based on our meal just a week later, they seem to have found their footing quickly. Sometimes getting the right server is simply luck of the draw. We hit the jackpot with Olivia, who immediately became one of our favorite servers. She was upbeat, made excellent recommendations and seemed to know whenever we needed something without hovering. We started with the Calamari Fritti and Beef Carpaccio. The calamari was wonderfully crunchy, and the spicy tomato sauce gave it just the right kick. The carpaccio was beautifully presented and every bit as good as it looked. Two of us went straight for the pasta. I ordered the Chicken Fusilli alla Vodka, while one of my guests chose the Lobster Fra Diavolo. Both were large, hearty portions with terrific sauces. I especially loved the kick in the vodka sauce, while my friend couldn't stop talking about the lobster. Our guest of honor ordered the New York Strip, and it was a massive cut, perfectly seared and accompanied by some incredible mushrooms. For the table, we also ordered the mushrooms with balsamic and sage. The combination was distinctive and delicious, and made them much more than an ordinary side dish. We finished by sharing the Lemon-Ricotta Cheesecake. Rich without being overly heavy, it was a terrific way to end the evening. For a restaurant that had been open barely a week, Il Ponte delivered an impressive experience. Great service, generous portions, memorable food and a setting that feels fresh while still celebrating the Italian-American classics. We'll definitely be back.

Well I had high expectations for this place as I heard so many positive reviews about their other restaurant. But unfortunately it fell flat On so many levels! I walked in 10 minutes before my reservation with a friend and was told to either go to the bar or sit at a chair and wait. I was going to order a drink at the table but didn't feel very welcome. The menu was pretty non eventful so I thought I'd try the pork tenderloin which was totally bland and unflavored. The rapini was bitter. The calamari was so thin it Was barely noticeable as calamari. Service was fine but they clearly are still learning as most menu questions could be answered. The building is beautiful and parking on street was great. Unfortunately this was a one and done as I'm Italian.

A nice addition to the area and great use of the first floor of the new Northwestern Mutual building. Restaurant has great design details as soon as you walk in all the way to the beautiful bathrooms. I have to spotlight the staff and our wonderful server. She was punctual and friendly. Kept a good flow and made sure our drinks or plates were never empty. The food was delicious, but still walking away a bit hungry. The mini meatballs are flavorful, and indeed mini. LOVED the garlic bread bites ~ 5 pieces (ate them too fast to take a picture). And finally espresso martini was the right taste (and color) with a twist as there is vanilla / honey froth on top. Wish it was a larger portion as it was gone with a few sips.

We were in town for a event. Found this place & devices to check it out…read more It was a good choice. The place was busy. We checked in and sat at the bar waiting to be seated. Had a couple drinks that were mixed well, old fashioned and a Malibu & Diet Coke. Then decided to just eat at the bar. We ordered chicken littles, fries, Chicago & western hot dogs. Roasted beets , potato truffle soup. All of this was so good. The soup was amazing. The Hot dogs were surprising, off the daily special menu. Topped it off with a red velvet cheesecake. So good. The place had a great vibe and lots of character. Would do it again when back in town

The service was top-notch from start to finish, highlighted by a super nice bartender who made me feel right at home. They also have an amazing selection of craft beer choices to go around. I ordered the prime rib dip, and it was out of this world. The shaved prime rib was cooked to perfection, and the au jus was intensely peppery, savory, and comforting--it honestly tasted just like something my grandma used to make. Shoutout to the roll, too, which achieved peak "soakability" without falling apart. If you're in Milwaukee, do not skip this place!

I am very picky about my Old Fashioned, and this one was spectacular! Stop on your way out and buy a few bottles of the liquor they offer for enjoyment at home. The Door County cherry offerings make great gifts, too. The finger food we were offered was so well prepared. Brats in a Blankie are a great idea, and the taste was so good. Everyone here agreed that the food was tasty all around. The 2nd-floor room is accessed by an elevator and can accommodate lots of events. It has a cool vibe with brick walls and large windows. I did not see the 3rd and 4th floors, but I understand they are great for other events, including weddings. The main floor is for food and drinks. There is plenty of parking all around, but be careful in the lot to the west, as they have a reputation for issuing tickets without thought. Parking across the street at The Public Market is a great option, or find a free spot on the streets nearby.

I don't drink so I can't speak to cocktails but they are a big draw as well. It had been awhile since I had stopped in, for some reason. I wanted some pancakes so I got the Crafthouse Stack with berries. They came with bourbon honey butter and maple syrup. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the berries. Raspberries in particular can be hit and miss. These were all perfectly sweet and ripe. I had some solid coffee also. The location is a little inconspicuous but inside there are high ceilings and modern but welcoming decor. Don't miss it.

It was a little industrial with a lot of seating, so this is a good spot to balance getting those fun going-out vibes with actually securing a seat. There seemed to be something for everyone on the menu, and they had a lot of collabs with other businesses. We opted for two different IPAs that were both delicious. For food, we split the cheese curds, hummus, and BBQ pork Mac and cheese. The cheese curds were extra crispy and I loved the garlic Parmesan seasoning. The chive crema served alongside was herby, creamy, and unique, giving a refreshing contrast. I enjoyed the selection of veggies with the hummus and the grilled garlic naan was delicious, though the hummus itself did taste just like the Sabra red pepper kind that you could buy in a store. However, the Mac and cheese absolutely stole the show- it was decadently cheesy with a wonderful white cheddar sauce, and the pork itself was slightly sweet and super tender. The scallions and jalapeños completed the picture perfectly. Would definitely recommend ordering this. The bartender taking our orders was also super nice and even brought a complimentary pour due to the wait for the second round, which we'd not mentioned at all. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely return next time we're in the area!
