Mediocre. Service sucked and food was mid. If you think this is good Italian food, you have not even had decent Italian food. The only thing that tasted right was the calamari, which took forever to come out. Also incredibly overpriced. $18 for half a ball of burrata. read more

Food was great but service was horrible. Everyone was so rude. We were a party of 12 at 8pm. The place wasn't packed. Full but had multiple tables still open. Took about 30 min to just get water. We appreciate the manager stepping in but did not appreciate her attitude when we were ordering, or even asking for water. Would love to go back for the food but can't deal with the service again. read more

First of all very elegant environment the lighting and table settings were great. The servers were really nice as well and gave us good input to know what's to order. the food was also amazing. we cleaned our plates. read more

A little taste of Italy in the heart of DC! The food was so, so good. Authentically tasty, and the limoncello egg-free custard - to die for! So glad we found you, will definitely be back. read more

Had a wonderful Christmas dinner with my family at Il Piatto. Ordered an Arugula salad, Chicken Park, and Salmo with Polenta that left us feeling warm and happy on such a day. PLEASEEE order a Goddather drink to elevate the night even more. Most places were closed but this was such a hidden gem. The service was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for more! Merry Christmas! read more

Outstanding pasta dishes. The calamari and branzino were delicious, too. We had dinner here 2 nights in a row and will be back for more.

Very disappointing, I do not enjoy presenting this review, however given the 4.5+ star reviews, it's necessary. Beginning with our table being commandeered by another hostess. Followed by a 25 minute wait to place our drink order and subsequently appetizers...which appeared so quickly we weren't sure if they microwaved, we readily discovered they were precooked and cold...ideally theses apps would be served somewhat hot...eventually we placed our entree order which was served much more quickly than McDonald's, it's been at least 40 years since being at Golden Arches...the entrees were less than desirable or consistent with this restaurants ratings....hopefully this post will promote change.... read more

Everything was amazing. Went for brunch and got the price fixe which included appetizers, main course, and desert, as well as bottomless mimosas with 10 juices to choose from. The staff was awesome and the food was amazing-not to mention the great price. Would 10000% recommend. read more

Great food, not great service. We waited a while to be seated, and then we were promptly greeted with waters. After that, it all went downhill. We were brought our mimosa pitchers, but had no glasses. We waited at least 30 minutes for glasses after asking multiple people. They didn't have traditional mimosas, only the flavors... which was fine but all the flavors had chunky bits in it. At one point we asked a waitress/buser for more water and she shrugged and walked away?? The service was so slow that we had to flag wait staff down consistently for things because our table was not being checked on at all. I love the food here and everyone enjoyed what they got, but the service made us not want to return at all. read more

Food was very underwhelming. It was a Monday night but the bolognese was dry and the pasta appeared to have been reheated. The braised short rib lacked flavor and like the pasta, seemed to have been microwaved and put on top of mashed potato. Very poor experience overall. read more

Tourist trap. Trying to be fancy Italian American. Chicken parm, fried calamari, frozen buratta, overcooked pasta, stale bread. Step above Sbarro. Service is really good! Nice Location on BLM Plaza but the decor looks like a generic hotel chain. This is DC, not Dulles Airport. read more

The ambiance and service were really good here. Prices were pretty reasonable considering the location, but unfortunately the food was very mediocre. I had the chicken sandwich parm. It was fine, but nothing special. In fact everything we had was "fine". We've had a much better meal in our small town local Italian spot than we had at Il Piatto. read more

Friend and I had brunch here and it is amazing! Service was EXCELLENT and the food to boot. I ordered the frittata and ended my meal with the Italian cheesecake which was also very good. Great experience and I will return! === read more

Was excited to try two of my favorite things, bottomless mimosas and Italian food. Was disappointed when I got neither. We were seated as a party of six, we waited and waited for our server to come take our drink order. It was nearly 20 minutes before it was taken. When one person asked for a refill of the mimosa he stated the entire table had to finish before any refills could be delivered. Odd, but okay. It was another 20 minutes before he came back to take our food order. In fact we had to flag another waiter in hopes we could order. We ordered all three courses at once for fear we would be there three hours if we didn't. The food was mediocre at best. The calamari was overdone, the pasta dish was not Italian, but the chocolate mousse was delicious. The incredibly poor service would prevent us from ever going back. Would not recommend for a brunch experience. read more

Food was very mediocre. Overpriced given the quality. Nice ambiance & cocktails were good. I'd recommend the bar but definitely not the food. read more

I usually wait a bit when a new restaurant opens, but decided to take a chance based on the other reviews here. It's great. I had the Burrata Mozzarella and the Rigatoni alla Juliana. First dish was perfect. The second dish could've used a bit more sauce, and the pork ragu was just a tad dry, but overall delicious concept and of course the kitchen and front of house are working out opening kinks. I didn't even need a third course or a dessert course. Service is already quite smooth, as smooth as a restaurant that's already been open a year, not just a few weeks. Would recommend if you get tired of steakhouses and seafood places in this neighborhood. read more

Excellent service, food & ambiance!! Our server was so gracious & everyone else from the hostesses & other staff very accommodating. Ohhh & the food & drinks excellent!! I'd definitely return the next time I return to DC!! read more

We needed a nice place for a party of 10 for a work-related lunch. Il Piatto was perfect -- great food, really pleasant atmosphere and the service was truly great despite our large party. Will return with my husband soon. :) read more

We were visiting DC during Mothers Day weekend, college graduations, and another national event. We could not find anywhere to eat for dinner. We literally came across this place while taking a walk. Thankfully, they had a table of 2 available. It was a wait but worth it! Prices were reasonable, portion size was great too, nice ambiance, and the wait staff was kind. They were doing so much and they always made time to see how we were doing. I definitely recommend coming here!! read more

The service was regular as any restaurant should have. Dessert and appetizer were good, we got the créeme brûlée cheesecake and the calamari. We got the spaghetti carbonara, and I definitely do not recommend it. It tasted like a bowl of ramen with 20 egg yolks. It started okay with the parmesan but then it had a weird after taste. I recommend pepper to make it edible. I finished it gagging not going to lie. I don't want to give a full bad review because I don't know about the other plates they offer but that spaghetti has me nauseous. Nice ambiance though, intimate and open. read more

The potatoes was cooked half way. The chicken lacked season. The service is horrible waited for 30 mins to get food and 20 mins to get mimosa. Also Lack of urgency to provide customer satisfaction. I recommend staff members train in this section to prevent this from happening in the future. read more

BAD SERVICE and NOT BOTTOMLESS-- Came here for bottomless brunch on a Saturday. The service was terrible. In the two hours we were there we only received three mimosas. And each one we had ask for multiple times. In the last round, a waiter dropped an entire tray of full glasses on our table soaking us and shooting glass everywhere. The staff person immediately left and no one came to speak to us. We tried to clean what we could and someone came by with a "wet floor sign" and left. We then waited another 15min and finally asked someone to see the manager. At first there "was no manager." Then someone finally came and they refused to acknowledge the spill and the glass on the ground. We eventually argued with the manager for 20minutes and then paid our bill and left. The manager then informed us that 2 mimosas over 2 hours and 15 minutes is standard for a bottomless brunch while also insisting she instructs servers to send drinks every 15 to 20 minutes. On the most basic level, that math does not make sense. As a frequent DC brunch goer this is the worst brunch I've ever had. Bad service, bad food, no mimosas. read more

Best Italian food i've had in the US by far!! I studied in Italy and haven't found any Italian food in the states that even compares so how delicious and light the food is in Italy. This place is exactly like the food I had in Italy and absolutely incredible. If you want authentic Italian food, you have to come here!! read more

Just increase the price instead of guilt tripping people by telling your customers that only 4% of the 20% service fee goes to the server. It was obnoxious, and IRS may need to know. With people fighting for human rights by having BLVD in DC, and the at same time the owner was stealing tip from waiters, it is simply not acceptable. read more

My family (including my 10 year old autistic son) and I stopped in at 8pm after a long day of sightseeing. The manager meet us at the door and I humbly asked if it might be possible to get a table for four. He looked at my son and said "Only if I can get a high five." Which and special needs parent knows, this made my son's day. Not only was the entire staff amazing and kind. The food was the best I had had in DC. The pasta was fresh and delicious. The chicken moist and flavorful. Our waiter Khan was respectful of our son's dietary needs (gluten and dairy free). He offered wonderful suggestions for the food. Both he and the manager could not have kinder. They both checked in on our table multiple times and offered dessert suggestions that our son could have. I could go on and on about Il Piatto but please try them for yourself. You will not be disappointed. read more

I did get to return. Another wonderful meal and excellent service. The "star" though was the crème brûlée cheesecake. Juan, you definitely did not oversell on that recommendation. All I can say is "wow". Thanks for another great experience. read more

Great food, fantastic drinks, wonderful vibes. Thank you Dino for the best bottomless in D.C.!

I can't even begin to tell you how good the food is. It is worth every penny. I came in twice when I was in DC and both times I wanted to lick my plate. The service, however, varied drastically from night to night. The first night was spectacular, the second night I sat in the bar and it was pretty mediocre. Regardless, I will definitely be back next time I'm in DC! read more

We were in town on vacation and decided to give this place a try. The food was not amazing but fine. My son had the linguine pomodoro with meatballs, which was probably the best of the dishes. My daughter had the ravioli, which was too al dente. My partner had the linguine primavera which did not have enough vegetables in it and I had the linguine with seafood, which was salty. The shrimp in it was good. We started with the fried calamari, which was what one would expect. Passable Italian spot. A bit overrated and overpriced for what you get if you ask me but fine, nonetheless. read more

Service from Jose and Alberto was excellent. Extremely helpful and attentive. Food was on point. Some of the best eggplant Parmesan I've had. The fresh Basel mixed it put it over the top. Chicken Marsala was cooked very well. Desserts were good as well. Great overall experience and would definitely recommend! read more

First time in DC and saw so many good reviews. Sadly we were less than impressed. Service was super slow. It took a long time to take our order. They never came to check on us or ask if we wanted more drinks or if we were enjoying our meal. The food was just ok for the price. Took over two hours and we didn't get appetizers or dessert. Just very disappointed. The one star is for the atmosphere. read more

The ownership group here has seemingly decided to skimp at the bottom of the barrel in terms of the staff, and the few talented & accommodating staff (the GM and a few of the initial wait staff) they employed are gone. Dine at your own risk. You'll receive fine/decent Italian food from an incompetent wait staff, and no experience. Lupo Verde is a short trip up 14th street. You'll be glad you made the trip. read more

We went for restaurant week and decided on the brunch menu-- I ordered the arugula salad and my friend got the arancini. The salad wasn't too bad, but next time I would definitely order the arancini, as it was delicious! For the main, I got an Italian style Benedict. Overall, everything was amazing and shoutout to our server Dino who was super friendly and helpful! read more
