I've been here before, and had to come back again so I suggested it for a date night. We sat on the outdoor patio, which conveniently had heated lamps. They even had blankets for those like me who are easily called. This time, unfortunately my date did not eat pork which a lot of the dishes contained. He was excited about a beef dish that was on the menu online, but this was not available. And then a dish with duck sausage he ordered later had to be canceled because it also contained pork. The waitress and staff were all very apologetic and gave us some nuts on the house and tiramisu. This more than made up for it. I do recommend in the future, having an updated menu online. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

What an amazing dinner experience! This has been on my list to try and my husband snagged a reservation for my birthday. Upon arrival the team was super friendly and attentive and wished me a happy birthday. We enjoyed the fluffy warm focaccia bread and the sliced meat plate to start. For my main meal I had the tagliatelle pasta and it was outstanding. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the flavors blended so well together, especially with my glass of Chianti. My husband's pasta was fantastic, which was surprising to me as I am not the biggest fan of mushrooms but it was brilliant! We enjoyed tiramisu for dessert and that was the perfect ending to the meal. The decor inside the building is beautiful and elevated for an intimate, cozy feel. Definitely will be back!

First time coming in here and I was impressed! You can really tell that this restaurant puts in a lot of effort in their menu and they make to perfection. I had a reservation for two and we were seated a few minutes after checking. The restaurant is located in a historical and well maintained lodge called The Alki Homstead. The entrance area had a bar and you could see the kitchen from there as well. I ordered two appetizers, the kale salad and the Focaccia bread. The kale salad was so tender and easy to eat with a very balanced dressing on top. The Focaccia bread I think was whole grain and it was very soft and flavorful. For our main courses I got the fazzoletto pasta and the 10 oz ribeye steak. The fazoletto flavors were so well balanced and the mushrooms they put in it all added to the taste. The Ribeye was ordered as medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Super lean and juicy. We got the spiced pair gelato and a fruit cake as desert and again all so well made. Nothing was too sweet and we were satisfied with the meal. Anyone that is in the area please give this place a chance as you wont be disappointed. I definitely plan on coming back to try out the rest of the menu!

This place is constantly rated and recommended as one of the best Italian restaurants, if not all around restaurant, in the Seattle area. We made a reservation for a weekday night which was actually a little difficult to get. The outside looks like a house and we almost thought we were in the wrong spot! The inside is super cozy and cute, and does feel like you're just dining in someone's large house. Onto the food - I will say there were hits and misses, and overall the quality is good but I just cannot say it is justified by the price. We got the focaccia and proscuitto platter for appetizers, both of which were actually really good. The focaccia might've been my favorite item of the night - it was so crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the dip it came with was perfect. I also love proscuitto and the marinated kiwis were unique. For the mains, we got the lemon pasta, rigatoni, and daily special cavatelli. We also got the braised oxtail, everything to share. I think all of these were good but not that outstanding - the best were the cavatelli and oxtail while I really wasn't a fan of the lemon pasta. Portions are also quite tiny for the price. Overall, if you're looking for the nice environment, this place can do the job but if you're more after good food at good prices this may not be the spot for you.

Why did it take so long for me to try this place?! We started off with the focaccia bread w/ sunchokes. It was perfectly crispy, but soft and came with this garlic balsamic dip. It was so good we ordered two orders. The kale salad was probably one of my most favorite things. I could have probably eaten the whole order myself. Perfectly dressed and topped with a bunch of seeds and crispy things. It was perfect. All three of the pastas ordered were delicious in their own way, but my favorite was the Fazzoletto (single handkerchief, mushroom ragu, olive oil poached egg yolk soft herbs, parmigiano). Texture of the pasta was so good. Ended the night with tiramisu and it was the perfect ending to a very delicious meal. Will definitely need to return!

A cozy dining treat. We were recommended to try Il Nido by some friends and we're so happy they introduced it to us. The whole experience was so cozy. Warmly lit, views into the kitchen with various spices hanging made it feel like we were just invited into nona's house. Even with a full house, it wasn't too loud and the music wasn't overbearing. Their menu is quite extensive. From appetizers, to drinks, to the main courses, if you love Italian food, there's something for everybody. Their pasta was absolutely amazing. Perfectly Al Dente, flavor was fantastic, the dishes had creativity. I ordered the Fazzoletto and my wife ordered the special of the night, which was a Cavatelli with anchovy oil, lemon, breadcrumbs, and stracciatella of burrata. Both dishes were great. The Fazzoletto was perfect. The mushrooms were soft, but not mushy, the egg yolk added a delightful creaminess, and the parm added a great umami sensation. The Cavatelli was also great. The anchovy oil was just present enough to be enjoyed, but not overpowering. The breadcrumbs added a nice crunch. Our only recommendation for the Cavatelli was it was slightly under salted to our liking. We think some crunchy pancetta or guanciale would have made the dish absolutely perfect, but that's just nitpicking. For dessert, we tried their Tiramisu, because I'm weak for a good tiramisu. I'm not exactly sure what they sprinkle on top to make it crunchy, but that added texture made it one of the best tiramisu dishes I've ever had. I think it was a mixture of coffee and chocolate crisp, but I could be wrong. Regardless, the crunch made it stand out that much more.

Excellent service at the bar with Henry my favorite bartender. The restaurant is all decorated for fall. Had a lovely cocktail at the bar, described to Henry and he was able to recreate it for me. My happy place. Came early and scored a seat at the bar. This is my favorite restaurant

We celebrated my husband's birthday here. Their pasta dishes are my favorite. We tried the Agnolotti special that night (stuffed with short rib) and it was amazing. Our favorite was the Fazzoletto with the mushroom ragu. The braised oxtail was also beautiful and unique and we really enjoyed it. Their wine list is really excellent and has a fairly good variety of price points. We enjoyed the Teroldego by Vignetti Delle Dolomiti from Northern Italy. Lovely, friendly and warm staff without any hint of pretentiousness. The ambience is one of my favorite aspects -- charming, lovely low lighting, romantic, with a touch of rustic flair from the log cabin architecture that's just not like any restaurant I've been in. This time of year, there were festive garlands and white Christmas lights that made it extra magical. This will stay on our list of special spots for date nights and celebrations!

A quaint Italian restaurant by Alki beach with beautiful indoors and a patio (heated in the winter time). Street parking mostly. Food was pretty traditional Italian food with antipasta, pasta, seafood and steak. We got 2 pastas to try and it was cooked to perfect texture and flavor. Portion size was generous as well for $30-40 each pasta dish. Apps were about $10-20 and desserts around $15. Perfect spot for celebrations, date nights or just a nice dinner after a walk by the beach!

Tagliatelle a Nido

TLDR: Amazing upscale Italian dining experience right next to Alki beach. Great service, ambiance, and food that won't break the bank. Be prepared to get a reservation weeks or months in advance! Drinks: We had both an aperol spritz and the strega verde house cocktail which is a vodka + pear liqueur drink. The spritz was as expected, but the verde really stood out to me balancing the tart flavor of the pear with the vodka. Would get the verde again! Apps + Entrees: For appetizers, we had the house made focaccia and salad. I believe the salads rotate based on season. This time their salad revolved around beets and apples, mixing in great seasonal flavors. For mains we had the tagliatelle ragu and nightly special pasta which was a corkscrew shaped pasta with osso buco. The tagliatelle pasta had great balance between the rich ragu and the herbs, with the pasta being a great ribbony texture. The osso buco pasta was rich, meaty, and highlighted black/green peppercorns. While the entree portions initially looked small, we were both full after eating. Dessert: We shared the Olive Oil Panna Cotta which had fruit jam and a chocolate shortbread cookie. The jam did a great job cutting into the richness of the panna cotta and the cookie provided saltiness and textural variety Ambiance: The decorations are upscale but also cozy with nice candle lighting. The overall space isn't huge but well utilized. Service: Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, asking us about dietary restrictions, refilling waters, answering questions, and checking in on us. We also arrived to our reservation quite early and were able to get seated 30 mins before scheduled which was very kind. Prices: The prices were fair for the food and experience we had. Drinks were $17 each, apps $10-$15, pastas $30-40, and dessert $15. After tax and tip we spent $190 for 2 people which was well worth it in my opinion Misc: It's hard to get a reservation here! I would look to reserve at least 2+ weeks in advance. Also for those with Amex plat, this place is on Resy for your quarterly credit!

Il Nido is a wonderful restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. We came for our anniversary and were greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles. The service is top notch, friendly, and efficient. They wiped the table down between course and even fold your napkin while you're off to the restaurant room. Reservations can be made via Resy. There is free parking in the Homestead lot along the side of the restaurant. Fazzoletto is amazing. The pasta is has the perfect amount of bite and the cheese and egg really add great flavor to the dish. There were a variety of mushrooms provide. We orders their special of the day: seafood pasta (didn't catch the exact name). The seafood was cooked perfectly! So tender and delicious. The sauce could have used a bit more flavor or salt however.

Went here for a 3 year work anniversary and the vibes were great! A really cozy restaurant that is intimate and feels homey. It used to be the residence of the owners of Seattle soap company converted restaurant. The food was great, the starters of burrata and focaccia complemented each other well. The black cod was buttery and delectable. I personally have a sweeter tooth and the dishes had fruits in them which was a big fan of. Our waiter was very attentive, coming by multiple times to check and switching out our plates in between courses

An incredible dinner at Il Nido -- everything was so flavorful and beautifully balanced. Every dish was impressive, but the polenta and house bread (schiacciata) completely stole the show -- both were warm, comforting, and perfectly textured. The polenta was so buttery and creamy it almost melted in your mouth, and the schiacciata had that ideal crisp edge with a soft, fluffy center. We tried several pastas -- tagliatelle, fazzo lobster mushroom pasta, and gnocchi malfettati -- and each one was exceptional in its own way. The flavors were deep and nuanced, and the textures were spot on. Everyone at the table had their own favorite, which says a lot about how consistently good everything was. Other standouts were the black cod with celery and pear, shishitos, and torta di ricotta e plum for dessert -- light, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal. Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt cozy yet refined. Easily one of my favorite meals in Seattle -- I'd come back just for the polenta and bread.

Ask the Community - Il Nido

Are kids allowed?

Yes

Can Il Nodo accommodate vegans?

Not in a substantial way They have a very tiny menu most of their dishes have cheese. They have pasta…

Are credit / charge cards accepted for payment?

Of course.

Is it reservation only or are walk-ins accepted?

Walk in for patio seats is available. I recommend getting there around 4pm when they first open or after 6:30pm.

How warm is the patio?

Depends on the day and weather

How do you order takeout? I've followed links to a branded online store with nothing listed (are they out?), and there's no info on their pre-COVID site. These folks make the best Italian food in Seattle by FAR; I just want to buy it! 🙂

The restaurant does not offer takeout.

What is there to enjoy in the beverages for non alcohol drinkers?

Water

Do they accommodate gluten free pasta for Celiac's?

Not at this time. I called and asked Dec.2019

Do they allow for guests to bring a bottle of wine of their own? If so is there a corkage fee? I haven't been able to see any answers - tried calling and emailing.

You can bring in your own wine at $25 per bottle corkage fee and the wine you bring in should not be on the restaurants wine list.

We ordered burrata salad as an appetizer and was asked if we wanted bread. Of course, why wouldn't we get bread - more on this later. We ordered pollo ai formaggi and linguine di marre as our main dishes. Both dishes were generous in portion. But that's where it stops. The pollo ai formaggi was bland - no real depth in flavors. The linguine di marre came with jumbo shrimps, baby scallops and squid. The slightly spicy tomato sauce was actually very sweet tasting and had no flavor - I had to add lots of salt to make it somewhat flavorful. The Jumbo shrimp was just okay, the scallops and squid tasted like it was from a pre-packaged seafood mix. Service felt extremely rushed for a $$$ cozy, romantic restaurant - we never got our water glasses refilled. When we got our burratta salad and our main dishes I was hoping they'd offer fresh ground pepper, but alas no. There was couple on a birthday dinner asking if there's any special meal, the waiter instead of letting them know there wasn't just rambled off today's dinner special. He also seemed very impatient when recommending wine. He may have been the only waiter for inside seating; but nevertheless, he gave off a very rushed vibe and just didn't want to stay at your table any longer than absolutely necessary - I think all of us would have been fine him taking more time with each customer since we're not a fast food restaurant. Towards the end of our meal when he brought our check he asked how our meal was and as soon as we said the typical, "It was fine..." he was off before I could actually tell him anything more. What seemed like a minute later he came to check on the bill to see if we were ready to pay - again a rushed vibe. That's when I looked at the bill and found out the bread wasn't free. I don't have an issue of paying for bread, but it would have been nice to let us know up front, given many fine dining restaurants offer complimentary bread. Also, don't expect (fountain) soda refills to be free, it's not. Lastly, when I was paying instead of handing over the payment device to add tip he held it tightly in his hand and would not let go for me - felt like he was brooding over to make sure he got a good tip. For the high price of our meal, rushed service, bland taste, certainly not worth going back, again.

For those short of time and live with no adventure I'll cut to the chase. The food is exquisite…read more For the rest, please read on. This last week while traveling for business to Seattle I had the pleasure of dining at Mezzanote. Their name of course implies it is an Italian restaurant but what you don't realize until you have sat and initiated your meal is that you, regardless of choice are embarking on a beautiful tribute to Northern Italian cuisine. At first arrival, the immediate impression is one of modest presentation but friendly and very inviting ambience. The staff, including our Server Marcus was attentive and had impeccable timing to read the table and flow of those joined in the meal. Check back was perfect and his service support was equally in tune with the other tables on the patio where we sat. Now this is what you have been waiting for... The food and I mean, we had almost one of every item on the menu and every dish was simply delicious. Tastes that were balanced and never overwhelming, but truly inspired dishes that your taste buds understand that the food was made with care and meant to satisfy even the toughest of pallets. Let's start with the house focaccia and ask for the disco sauce to dip your bread. It was a tummy satisfying start but then they dropped the focaccia regala and with the cheeses melted in a medley that left me thankful I was as they say "hungry as a hostage" because the meal had just begun. The next appetizer brought out was the Carote... This medley of carrots smoked with a Chile Honey Glaze left this BBQ born and raised Mexican wondering why ?? And then I had my first forkful and any doubt that I had about the chef creating something sacrilegious by smoking carrots left me, as the flavors were amazing. For a moment I forgot I was eating my vegetables.. where was this when I was a younger man. On to the main courses and the Reginette was first up. This Bolognese was a hearty blend of flavor and subtlety as it wasn't overly anything except satisfying. The Braciola Dia Miaale was a durock pork chop with a rhubar mostarda and salsify puree with asparagus that could not have been better. You didn't have to be a pork chop fan to enjoy this at all. Every dish that arrived was better than the one before. The Bucatini C'Anciuova, Prawns with Calabrian Chile, anchovies, tomatoe and orange zest was a delight and I don't normally eat anything overly spicy. This was a balance of heat with a twist of tang that the orange zest delivered flawlessly. Allow me to share that it is imperative you save room for dessert. Their tiramisu taste as if there is some Italian grandmother locked away in a pastry room kicking these out. They have other desserts to be sure, but this is the star of the show in my opinion. For those of you that are wine enthusiast, they did have a wine list that was impressive. All in all, for those that follow me, you know that it is a rarity for me to give any place I visit five stars from the first visit. Consistency is premium in my book. But as I mentioned to one of our fellow diners. This food is amazing, and the reality is each of these dishes could be served in a five-star venue layered with opulence and still the food would outshine the location. The only drawback was there was no Coke Zero... Damn it ...Turns out though that can be a pretty tough find in the city of Seattle in all the restaurants. For one that does not participate in alcohol or wine, my taste buds were not underserved and I survived without my Zero. This place is a go-to for any Italian yearning for authentic Italian food made with love. That's the only way I can describe just how good the food is. This isn't something that is prepared in volume for the masses. The chef and that team are simply serving with their hearts and it resonates with every bite. I'll be back, again and again. Oh and should you find yourself needing to go to the restroom. Ask for the Disco restroom.. that alone is worth the drive... Lol until next time Mezzanote! Thank you for a wonderful meal.

My wife and I also brought my daughter and her friend on the trip as we were going to the concert at nearby Benaroya Hall. We had the Spaghetti Carbonara, the Spaghetti Vongole, Fettuccini with Red Sauce and Spaghetti Olo style. I also was thrilled to see the Lumache (escargot) on the menu. Came for HH yesterday and ordered a couple pasta dishes to share, and was pleasantly surprised that they're actually full portions. We definitely overestimated how much food we needed because I left STUFFED lol Everything tasted great though, and for the price it's such a good steal. Drinks are also really good and surprisingly cheap for the area, especially SLU. Service has been great every time I've been too. Definitely one of my go to spots for happy hour and will be back!
