Overall a great place to have a nice dinner. The service was timely but not rushed and servers were friendly and helpful with the menu. We had the tuna tartar, zucchini frites, Il Gabbiano pasta, and parpadelle ragu pasta. Food was simple but good (definitely not the best Italian in Miami but still yummy). For sure on the pricier side especially for drinks/wine but portions were big. Sitting on the terrace is a must with the view of the water! read more

If you know me, I clearly have a problem and loveeee eating...especially italian food. Pasta? Cheese? Come on If you're looking for a solid Italian spot with a great view, nice ambiance, delicious food and great selection of wine. @ilgabbianorestaurant is the spot! It's actually one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. It's perfect for a date night, girls night or a business lunch. I've been to Il Gabbiano a handful of times, each time has been fantastic. I highly recommend their porcini mushroom ravioli - absolutely phenomenal but definitely a tease as it only comes with like 6 raviolis. If you're craving the lobster ravioli as well, you can actually have them do half and half. The papperdeli pasta with truffle cheese is life changing and filling, uff!! The lamb is great as well. Of course, this restaurant being right on the water and the accompanying gorgeous views are one of its main selling points - combine that with great food and you've got a solid five stars. We came here for my birthday lunch (although I forgot to tell them it was my birthday, so I'm not sure if they'd have done anything special.) They start off by bringing you a selection of Italian breads, bruschetta and cutting you a piece of parmesan from the largest chunk of cheese I've ever seen in my life. It was pretty cool. The bruschetta was a little watery, but it was just a complimentary starter, so who cares. They're fancy enough to not have a cocktail list - wine list only; they do have a full bar though, so you can still order whatever you want. I was on a Painkiller kick after going to Monty's Sunset, so I got one here; unfortunately, it was not quite the same. I ordered the calamari as my appetizer, and it was enjoyable in spite of its unusual format. It was not at all like the regular fried calamari in little pieces one might envision; this was a straight up squid cut up into three large pieces and only very lightly fried, not breaded. It was weird, but it worked! The linguine alle vongole as my main course was delicious, although not as good as my mom's - the gold standard of linguine with clams. I tried a half serving of the gnocchi pomodoro as well, and it, too, was exquisite. They also came over and grinded as much parmesan onto both as I wanted - very important to this Italian girl over here. For dessert I had the tiramisu, which was pretty perfect. Il Gabbiano is an ideal place for a special occcasion or date, and it earns my seal of approval. read more

Bottom Line: Really expensive place for slightly above average Italian food. The view doesn't make up for the price. Pros: free bruschetta appetizer, shrimp avocado salad was pretty good, pasta was good (not great), cheesecake was pretty good. View was good, if you can get a view. The bartenders were attentive and conversational. Food came out fast. Cons: Really expensive, arrived on time for our reservation and still had to sit at the bar for an hour, even though the food came out fast (once it was ordered) the initial service was slow. They purposely don't put prices on their main website even though they have an updated menu that can be accessed via QR code at the restaurant tables. I spent close to $250 (adding in valet, and an additional 2 'specialty cocktails' ordered at the bar)... way too expensive for what you get. And yes... i ordered an Amstel Light... I ain't paying another $25 for a mixed drink. read more

I highly recommend this place for dates, it is such a nice environment and amazing view. I came to celebrate my anniversary and honestly it was so romantic. I thought it was going to be very expensive however my bill totaled to $111, that's including dinner for two, a cocktail and dessert so not bad at all. My date had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken that of course I had to try and it was delicious, best pasta in town. I can't remember what my dish was called but basically it was two chicken breast covered in cheese and it was very delicious, they serve bread when you first walk in with tomatoes and personally I'm not a fan of tomatoes but that was amazing. For dessert we tried the coconut sorbet and was not disappointed at all it was delicious definitely coming back again to celebrate many more. Good views, great food and friendly staff. read more

Loved it! What a great restaurant. The food, service & view were great. The servers were Italian. I didn't realize this was an authentic Italian restaurant. They brought their fresh selection of fish, Mediterranean langoustines & other seafood to the table to show us the seafood options of the day. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller which was very good. I had the clams with linguine. It was delicious & not heavy on the garlic. There were big, meaty clams throughout. I was impressed. Other places serve the shells with tiny pieces of clam in the shell & that's it. My friends had the gnocchi & the lobster ravioli. They loved their dinners. For dessert, we shared the creme brulee. It had the perfect crisp caramelized sugar topping & a tasty custard. Everything was so nice. The dishes were beautifully presented, the servers were polite & knowledgeable, the bathroom was clean & the restaurant has a beautiful view of the bay. read more

Everything food related was amazing! The only thing that was not enjoyable was a separate order I made of lobster ravioli. It honestly tasted like frozen lobster and was not pleasing at all. In reality the place deserves a 4.5 not a 4 but yelp does not have that option. The waitress was really pushy to get me another plate but at that point I was so upset I just wanted to go. read more

I got to say I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The service was mediocre, the bread that was brought to the table was extremely cold and hard. We asked to be seated in a outside seat with a view and ended up inside next to the door. It was very hot inside the restaurant & the menu is a bit difficult to understand. Besides Covid going on and everyone having to wear a mask indoors the place was extremely loud we couldn't barely communicate with our waiter. I had the ravioli which was not a bad dish had great taste but my wife did not like her gnocchi food choice. For dessert we were recommended some fruit bowl by the waiter but once again we could not even understand him. We ended up not liking the dessert and just wanted to leave honestly. read more

I've been a big fan and have recommended so many people to this restaurant. I hadn't been back since the pandemic began but decided to go for a birthday dinner. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't !!! We requested outdoor seating to feel comfortable for social distancing. It rained last night and we're told we couldn't sit outside although our reservation was for outdoor dining and all the tables were full. We agreed to sit inside and wholly regretted it, as they don't have social distancing inside the restaurant. I don't think I'll be visiting the restaurant again, what a huge disappointment as I use to enjoy eating this restaurant. It's fine to find another good Italian restaurant. read more

This is a classic example of a restaurant that is expensive but is worth every penny! Service was amazing - the menu extensive and our group of 4 ordered different items - I started with octopus carpaccio was delicate and perfectly marinated- lamb chops (7) lollipops large and tender - my wife had Dover sole with angel hair prepared fresh - our guests had salmon and lobster ravioli- we sat looking out over the bay - beautiful- an extensive list of wines - two chose a Chianti and the others a Sauvignon! It was a wonderful change not to be rushed and able to converse and relax. The food price for 4 was about $400 and the wine $200 - we would have never complained if it was double that cost - the reason being we enjoyed the 3hours we spent and left having experienced a very memorable time together which rarely happens in most restaurants! At Il Gabbiano you get what you pay for. You pay for an amazing Italian cuisine, attentive staff, and delicious drinks. But what you most pay for is the spectacular view of the Miami skyline. And that's the formula! It's that ambience that says Miami and you don't mind ( too much) the hefty price tag. If you're a local you know Il Gabbiano is not the only good Italian restaurant with great food. But if you're not , this restaurant definitely says I'm enjoying the awesomeness that is Miami. read more

There is a parking lot right on the side of the building, but if that lot is full, there is also street parking, and parking across the street in a lot behind the Citadel. The service here was great! All of the staff were very nice and welcoming. The set up of the lounge is also very cozy. There is plenty of space for people to sit whether you're on a date or with a small group, but seating is first come first serve, so if you're coming with a group it's better to get there earlier in the evening so you have a space comfortable enough for the size of your group. There is also indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. There are many wines to choose from and they also have a decent menu with light bites. We opted for the Dino nuggets and caviar which were a hit, the fried olives and some meats and cheeses with some cornishons, fig jam and a sliced baguette. Overall this place has a great vibe to it and I heard they host events every so often. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice space to chill with some friends and enjoy a nice spot in Miami.

If we were made aware that we would be on a time crunch BEFORE we were seated, I could've made a conscious to either stick around knowing I would get ushered out, or I would have chosen a completely different spot. As paying customers who are tipping for a nice service, it's really sad to see how customers are actually treated. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.
