There are great Italian restaurants -- and then there is Il Gabbiano. Perched directly on the edge of Biscayne Bay. Sitting outside on the terrace is non-negotiable. The breeze comes off the water softly, boats drift past in the distance, and as the sun sets, the skyline begins to glow. Elegant without feeling stiff. The sound of the water, the clink of glasses, and the scent of garlic and olive oil in the air -- it's transportive. And then the food arrives. The langoustini from Sardinia are nothing short of spectacular. Sweet, delicate, and impossibly fresh, they taste like they came out of the Mediterranean that morning. Prepared simply -- because they deserve nothing less -- the natural sweetness shines through with pristine clarity. It's the kind of dish that makes the whole table go quiet for a moment. It was accompanied by a lovely risotto with zucchini, shrimp and crab. The pasta Bolognese is exactly what homemade should mean. Rich, slow-simmered, deeply comforting. You can taste the patience in the sauce -- layers of flavor built carefully over time, clinging perfectly to fresh pasta with that ideal texture that only comes from being made in-house. It's soulful and authentic, the kind of dish that feels like someone's nonna is still in the kitchen overseeing every detail. And then there are the Carciofo alla Romana. Bold statement: they are the best artichokes you will find outside of Rome. Service matches the setting: polished, attentive, and warmly Italian. There's a sense of old-school hospitality here -- white tablecloths, tableside preparations, generous pours -- that feels increasingly rare in Miami. Il Gabbiano isn't just dinner. It's an experience. A waterfront escape. A reminder that when atmosphere, ingredients, and execution align, magic happens.

My niece recently came to miami on a quick trip. She asked me to take her to a place with steak and pasta. Oh boy. "How do I swing this one" I thought. After some deep internet sleuthing I found II Gabbiano. It was perfect. I wanted to take her somewhere upscale. . Somewhere with a nice view some where with good food and somewhere with (of course) steak and pasta The restaurant is located in the brickell on the opposite side of the intercontinental (I don't know the building sorry). The restaurant is located on a bit of a corner area right off the bay with a beautiful view. The staff was very attentive. She just wanted pasta with a cheese white sauce -- done. No questions asked and no snooty upper class judgement. The ambience is another posh spot where I noticed there was a large amount of tables relative to the space but not at all over crowded. The food was very good. You must try their risotto. Rice wasn't over cooked and presentation didn't look like baby food like so many other places that claim risotto but really it's just rice mush. The calamari was fluffy and crunchy -- and here is the hook -- not greasy at all. The steak was done to a perfect medium rare and the pasta an excellent, on-the other-side-of al dente. After dinner we where walking back to the car and took a moment to soak in a bit of the view and chat about old times and new adventures. So if you're looking for a night out to enjoy a great dinner and upscale vibe -- II Gabbiano should be on your short list.

I recently went to this restaurant on my birthday a few days ago I was craving some authentic Italian cuisine, and this restaurant did not disappoint. We made reservations and we were seated rightaway. As soon as we sat down, we were served bruschetta and asked what we wanted to drink This restaurant is perfect for a date group setting hosting a baby shower, etc. they have indoor and outdoor rec seating and the views within the restaurant are unmatched. The waiters were very kind and attentive Now the food there's so many choices. It's overwhelming, which is always a good problem. I had the Spaghetti alla Carbonara and the Fettuccine alla Bolognese. Both dishes were fantastic . And since it was my birthday I got dessert which was also delicious. I highly recommend coming to the this restaurant. You won't be disappointed . I can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu

Went to Il Gabbiano for a work dinner with colleagues. It is one of those places where the ambience is doing most of the heavy lifting--and honestly, crushing it. Five-star vibes, phenomenal waterfront views, and the kind of setting that makes you feel important even if you're just quietly judging your plate. If restaurants were scored purely on scenery and mood, this place would be an easy 5-stars! Now... the food. I had the Filleto Al Barolo, which was good but not great--solid effort, no fireworks. The mozzarella Di Bufala for an appetizer? Also good but not great. Reliable. Dependable. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which tasted suspiciously like flan--again, good but not great. Not bad by any means, just not something I'll be telling stories about years from now. Service was decent, professional, nothing dramatic outside of me yelling for servers attention to order dessert after being skipped when dessert orders were being taken . Bottom line: Il Gabbiano is a fantastic place to impress, celebrate, or soak in Miami luxury. Just don't expect the food to outshine the view--it knows its role, and it plays it well enough.

It's my first time at an Italian restaurant called Il Gabbiano, located on the water in Miami, the day before my cruise to Lima, Peru. This restaurant has a great vibe, and the staff is excellent--they often bring things even before you think to ask for them! I had the chili and sea bass, while my wife had the gnocchi with shrimp. I also enjoyed a glass of Santa Margherita white wine with my meal. Perhaps it's the best sea bass I've ever had; the texture, flavor, and presentation were all on point. The overall cost is at the upper limit of normal, but it's well worth every penny. I will certainly return to this place when I'm in the area again.

We visited Il Gabbiano while in Miami, FL for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and I recommend enjoying a meal outside to take in the beautiful view and lovely weather. Although it was crowded when we arrived, we were able to get seated with very little wait, and the staff made everything seamless. A great spot for a leisurely lunch with fantastic food and ambiance!

Veal Gorgonzola. I'm told it was excellent.

One of the Best Italian restaurants I've been to in a Long time. I've now eaten here twice in the last week and it is consistently Great ! While it's a somewhat expensive restaurant, it represents Great value for what you get. Large portions, outstanding quality and some really nice added touches that put IL Gabbiano over the top. Our recent Langostino appetizer came with an added seafood risotto side on the plate that was amazing. It could have been it's own appetizer. I've tried the following things and each one was better than the next. Veal Saltimbocca, Veal chop Gorgonzola, Veal Parmigiana and Veal chop Valdostano, Lobster ravioli, gnocchi with prosciutto and more. Absolutely wonderful. The service is excellent and the wine list is pretty good. You can sit inside or out along the water. If I could afford to, I would eat here every week. Please give them a shot. I promise that you won't be disappointed.

Ciao, Before retiring, I used to go to Il Gabbiano at least twice a week. Now I dont go to downtown very often but always try to visit one of my favorite restaurant in Miami. I love the Risotto fruti de mare, costoleta milanesa and ossobucco. Il Gabbiano can transform a simple orange in one of best desert. Service is always impecable. Grazie a mile Gabbiano.

This is a place that is beautiful to visit with a remarkable view while dining. The food is amazing, everything we had from appetizers, to the main course to the dessert was superb. The atmosphere, ambience and attention was excellent from the moment we walked in until we left. This is a must for any occasion, specially if you are on a date. Go visit and enjoy their wonderful food.

Oh my deliciousness. I haven't had pure Italian food since I last went to Italy. The ambiance the service and everything was impeccable. The meal started with a delicious array of freshly baked bread and the most flavorful tomatoes and fresh Parmesan. The escargot had mushrooms underneath and tons of garlic (which is my absolute favorite). The pastas were the main treat. They were so so rich with flavor. My favorite was the linguine al vongole (clams). Finally the desserts adequately satiated my sweet tooth. I couldn't help but devour the chocolate soufflé with ice cream. The waiters were very attentive and made sure our wine and water glasses were never empty. They were super kind and helpful in making our ordering decisions.

Service was friendly and kind, food was great. We stayed at the Intercontinental hotel and this is literally a 30 second walk out and around the corner. We sat outside on the water and watched the sunset and all the party boats go by. It was super fun! My husband came early for work and came here 3x during the week. I will come back! There was also never a long wait no matter what time of day or day of the week we came.

Dinner at Il Gabbiano in Miami was a refined experience with great service and a classic Italian menu. We started with flavorful Clams Casino, followed by excellent Pasta with Truffles--rich, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The Supreme di Pollo al Calvados was well-made but a little heavy for my taste, while the vegetable side was fresh and nicely seasoned. Dessert was a solid Crème Brûlée, and service throughout the night was attentive without being overbearing. The total came to about $250 for two people, including tax and tip--pricey, but fitting for the quality, portions, and waterfront setting.

Wow wow wow!! This place was amazing! I have been here before but they have definitely up their game! They have outside and indoor sitting and the inside was beautifully lit and the staff was really nice. They answered all the questions we had and help us choose some amazing items. For posters we got the oysters and the escargot! I would eat the escargot everyday if I could it was amazing it can stuffed in a mini mushroom! The pastas were all to die for. I had the lobster ravioli and it was sooo super delicious. It came stuff with a lot of lobster and sauce was delicious! The lamb was a good potion and was perfectly cooked! It came with a crust and it perfect combination. The mushroom ravioli was also amazing and came stuffed perfectly! And the desserts were amazing amazing amazing!! We got the chocolate lava cake, the crème burlee, and the tiramisu and it was all amazing. I would definitely order the whole menu if I could again. Also, we got two bottles of brunello wine and it was delicious!

I've been visiting a lot recently, and even joined their wine club which offers two curated wines a month. Locally owned and operated, I feel really good supporting a place that the owners put so much effort into to offer such a gem of a spot for locals. I've tried a lot of wines here, and I'm always amazed at finding something new to me that I enjoy. If you haven't been, it's the perfect place for a date, a girls night, or a day for yourself. They also have good snacks and charcuterie for you to munch on while you drink vino. Don't know much about wine? No problem. Their team will point you in the right direction and they have something for everyone. There is plenty of space for people to sit whether you're on a date or with a small group, but seating is first come first serve, so if you're coming with a group it's better to get there earlier in the evening so you have a space comfortable enough for the size of your group. There is also indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. There are many wines to choose from and they also have a decent menu with light bites. We opted for the Dino nuggets and caviar which were a hit, the fried olives and some meats and cheeses with some cornishons, fig jam and a sliced baguette. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice space to chill with some friends and enjoy a nice spot in Miami.

The first location in the River is better imo because the location is bigger, there is plenty more seating than the Grove location. Although, I still enjoyed my time at this location as well. Sooo how it works is that you go inside and pick a bottle of wine from the fridges. You can also order by the glass if you aren't a big drinker or if you want to try different wines. The bottles are moderately priced depending on your selection. We chose an orange wine and it was nice, very refreshing, you can really get that citrus essence with every sip. Another thing that they have is that you can pick different cheeses and meats and they will build you a charcuterie board. I love this because it is all based on your selection, nothing will go to waste. They also have food you can order. A lot of people love the nuggets with caviar. I think they are decent imo but I'm not like in love with them. Parking can be a bit annoying... If there isn't street parking, you can also park in the garage. Unlike some other reviewers that scoffed at the prices of the wine, that didn't bother me so much. We had a bottle here that cost $55 and it retails for about $28; I was OK with that, as all restaurants and wine bars have a markup above retail, and even when you go to spots like Happy Wine or El Carajo and pick out a bottle to drink while in their shop, they charge a corkage fee for that. What I did have a problem with is that, after the "service charge" and other fees were added on, our $55 bottle rang up to more than $73 in total, which was ludicrous. When we first arrived at Magie we were met by a young guy who pointed out the bottles and where the various charcuterie items are located in the coolers, and we were then pretty much left on our own. We really just wanted a glass of wine each, but unlike places like Vinoteca, here at Magie they had a very limited selection of wines by the glass, and the ones available all seemed to come in single-serve cans. We picked out a bottle to share, went to the register, paid and the guy opened it and handed us 2 glasses. When I returned to get napkins, the guy just motioned to where the napkins were so I could grab my own (after moving a delivery cart out of the way by myself so I could reach them). Again, though this place includes an automatic "service charge", we received zero actual "service" unless one considers the 45 seconds it takes to uncork our bottle and charge us for the purchase. We had a seat, had a glass of wine each and then re-corked our bottle of wine and took it with us. Overall I think Magie is a great concept with lots of potential. The inside seating area is interestingly decorated and outfitted with lots of eclectic furniture and items on the walls, and the relatively large patio seating out front with tables for 2 to 8 people is shielded from the adjacent street/traffic and shaded by lots of trees and greenery. The ambiance overall is really very nice. The service, however, was non-existent, especially considering the automatic charge for that, and while prices of at least some wines aren't terribly out of line, the fact that all the service charges, taxes and fees added $20 to the cost of our bottle was a bit of a shocker. Magie should consider adding more wines by the glass IMO. Not just subpar quality single-serve cans, but decent wines, poured from a proper bottle with a topper that preserves the wine between pours like most every quality wine bar commonly offers. Lastly, while I don't think anyone expects linen napkins and white glove service, the paper plates and plastic cutlery customers are given to eat with are a bit off vs. what this place appears to be trying to be and the prices charged. The "F*ck Brunch" positioning statement on the back of the staffs' shirts was an interesting touch.

We loved this place. Such a fun vibe and everything we ordered hit. The service was wonderful too!…read more The grilled cheese was next level, super crispy, cheesy, and not basic at all (I'm still craving it). The beef carpaccio was super fresh and perfectly balanced. The skirt steak? So good and tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the standout for me was the tuna tostones... obsessed. And the manchego croquetas were the perfect bite. Definitely one of those spots where you want to order a little of everything and share. We'll 100% be back!

They accommodated our party of eight flawlessly, and to top it off, we even had live music on a Wednesday night. This place is such an incredible wine place with tons of amazing bottles and varieties to choose from. You basically shop around the space, pick out your own wine, and bring it back to the table for your server to open and serve. Everything is organized by region and the prices vary so you can easily find something that fits your taste and budget. Every staff member we encountered was fantastic, and everything we ate and drank was just as good. We started with a red Pinot noir bottle we loved so much that we ended up ordering three more for the table. For food, we ordered several dishes to share: The Marinated Olives which i didn't try these because I'm not an olive person. The Bacon Wrapped Plantains which was such a unique combo, and surprisingly delicious. The Local Burrata which was absolutely delicious. I've never met a pan con burrata I didn't like. The Manchego Croquetas were my absolutely favorite. manchego is one of my favorite cheeses, so I already knew I'd love this. Perfectly balanced, not greasy at all, crispy on the outside, melty and creamy on the inside. The honey sauce on the side was the perfect touch. We also got the Steak Frites & Chicken to share which was super tender, flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crispy, just how I love them. They were out of the yuca bravas, so we couldn't try these but they sound phenomenal. And we couldn't chose what desssert we wanted so we went with all three. The flourless chocolate cake with icecream, the key like tres leche and the guava tiramisu. Alll delicious !! And lastly , i have to highlight Thalia, our server. She was exceptional! Truly a five-star experience for our first visit. She handled our group of eight with ease, was always on top of refills without us having to ask, knew the menu inside and out, and gave amazing recommendations. She made the whole night even better. Can't wait to come back especially for lunch since she mentioned they have great lunch specials. This spot is definitely a new favorite,

Step up a few stairs, walk through the main entrance doors and beyond the sofas in the foyer is the entrance which looks more like an entrance to an office. The door gives way to slightly dim warm lighting, which creates an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. I sat at the bar with my husband and heard the bartender, Phillip taking repeated orders of old fashioned and espresso martini. I saw a table polishing glasses and glasses of wines and then came the surprise - their selections! Their selections were smaller than expected but thoughtfully chosen. We asked Phillip for his recommendations, along the lines of red & bold. He gladly pointed us to a wine that was not on the menu. It seems they offer a menu selection and off-menu/rotating selection from unique wine regions. We had a red blend from China (yes that's correct, it surprised me equally). But then I realized, I haven't had wines from most of the regions they offer and the curiosity sets in. Looking forward to explore the menu and off-menu selection. Perfect bar for date night or post dinner drinks and for all the wine explorers out there.
