Amazing service! Food was fresh & wonderful! Sauces are homemade and delicious! Can't wait to come here again

My teenage son and I were craving wings and decided to try Ikonic Wings after seeing good reviews about them. We recently moved to Washington from California, so we've been missing our usual wing spots back home. Haven't tried any wing spots yet after our move so decided to give Ikonic Wings a try. We ordered in person since we weren't familiar with the menu, and the employee working the counter was super friendly and patient with all of our questions. I didn't see it on the menu so I inquired how many flavors we could select (i.e. 2 or 3 flavors for 18 wings??); She explained how the flavor selections worked depending on wing count (1 flavor for the 2 lowest selections, 2 flavors for the rest, includes Wings Only or Wings Combo). She even let us sample the Sweet Blaze sauce when we asked what the flavor consists of. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3 tables inside, and we waited around 18 minutes for our order (she provided the estimated time in advance and we were willing to wait). There's also a small carryout fee if you order to go. We ordered 18 wings with the Badass Buffalo and Garlic Parmesan sauces for about $30, which felt fair imo. The wings were still hot when we got home, smelled amazing, and the chicken itself was definitely juicy and meaty. They don't skimp on portion size at all, and I actually liked the thick breading texture too. Unfortunately, the flavor just didn't really hit for us. I was hoping for something more flavorful and crispy like Fire Wings back in California. My son and I agreed that the buffalo sauce honestly tasted more like BBQ than buffalo, and it wasn't spicy at all. To me, the garlic parmesan mostly just tasted salty instead of cheesy or garlicky. Even with buttermilk ranch, the flavors still tasted pretty average. I do appreciate that they're veteran-owned and the customer service was genuinely great, but for wings, flavor is the biggest thing for me. I'd rather have smaller wings with bold flavor than bigger wings that taste kind of bland. Not sure if we'll be returning, probably around a 6 out of 10 for us personally. ***Editing to Add (after Owners Response): Appreciate the thoughtful response; please don't take it to heart! We have no issues with the price, just wanted to include as much details with our experience for those unaware like ourselves, so the carryout fee is completely understandable. The staff accurately made the order; the buffalo sauce just tasted more for us like a bbq/buffalo sauce we're used to from frozen store bought groceries, and our level of spice tolerance is higher so that could be why our standards weren't met. As for the garlic parmesan, I'm no chef, but if there is possibly a way to douse some fresh garlic parmesan on the chicken after the breading/frying, maybe that could improve the taste if some of it is lost from the process? Not attacking whatsoever, just food for thought. Also, When I mentioned ranch, we didn't try the ranch here, we had our own at home to eat with the wings, so no shade to your ranch :) read more

Customer service was good and thank you for supporting our troops. Steroid wings, way too much breading that lacked flavor. Sauces were salty. Dry biscuit. Definitely pricey especially for the quality. Made to order but definitely not worth the wait. Will not be returning, definitely don't recommend. Only thing I enjoyed was the waddles and ranch. I had the opportunity to try these wings during a special on Mondays and Tuesday's. $5 plus tax for 6 wings is a good deal. The wings were good, hot, and crunchy. This is my favorite place for wings. If you're looking for tiny pre-cooked under/over cooked wings, you will have to go elsewhere because the quality, freshness, taste and size of the wings are absolutely amazing at Ikonic. I almost want to keep them a secret all to myself. Service is superb and the ambiance is cool too. Call ahead or wait for them to cook fresh to order. You will not be disappointed. Two US Army vets (husband and wife) whip up some great wings! Big, well-cooked and seasoned just right. A side of "waddles" was added. Per Google - Waddles fries" are a variation of French fries with a waffle or criss-cross pattern. This unique egg shape is achieved by slicing potatoes using a specialized mandoline with a waffle blade or a crinkle cutter." Well I've never had Waddles before but I really liked these here. Did I say the wings were big? They were huge and juicy!! Tried (in order of preference) Bad Ass Buffalo, Lemon Pepper, & Salt Vinegar. Service was friendly and the interior was clean. I was hungry and looked up places near me to eat and this place caught my attention. Crispy friend chicken.. yes please! I saw in one of the photos there was what looked like fried okra and some yams ::drool:: so I had to go here! I tried the food while I was in my car because I wanted to leave a review as soon as possible! The wings are definitely crispy! I like that. Sauces made from scratch - delish. The ranch!!? SO GOOD! The chicken was cooked perfectly. I'm not really a fan of biscuits without butter, but the honey flavor was there and I'm all for it. Never heard of waddles, but its a cute name and it makes sense cuz these potato wedges would probably waddle if they tried to walk! I always like to offer the good and what I would recommend could be better. The chicken and sauces are delicious, I would recommend maybe a bit more zest/citrus in the ranch - OR creating your own special sauce! I'd recommend having some butter or jam available for the biscuits, BRING BACK THE OKRA PLEASE! Also, maybe an option for seasoned fries!? Either way, I'll be back. We love Ikonic! You should expect to wait, because everything is prepared to order, and it is well worth the wait! The staff are always friendly and kind! We met the owner one night, and not only was she a cool person, it's lovely to support a local, veteran-owned, woman-owned business. I adore the garlic parmesan sauce, my kids like the buffalo sauce and the salt and vinegar rub (the hot wings are tossed in dry "sauce")... it's just always good. The Waddle fries are outstanding. Beneath it, the meat was tender and pulled away from the bone clean. The sauce--there was plenty. Not ladled, not drowned, but poured with purpose. Thick and red and clinging. It was the kind of heat that settled in the chest and stayed on the tongue. We had the biscuits too. Honey butter, they called them. Heavy in the hand but soft when broken open. Dense, yes, but there was air inside. A kind of quiet lift that made you take a second bite before thinking. They had a sweetness that cut the fire from the wings. There was one mistake in the order. The store is quite small so this place isn't where you go for a party, but it there were four small eating areas, so it was nice and quiet. The wings here are huge! I got the lemon pepper dry rub and sis got the salt and vinegar, both with ranch and they were solid. What I like most is that they have a wash basin right at the cashier stand. It's weird to have it there, but it was also much appreciated for before the meal and afterwards. Were the wings iconic? I've seen the online hype and was in the neighborhood so I popped in. It's hell in a strip mall, let me tell you: LA Fitness and Dental Groups abound! But the inside is very cute, branded out and a walk up counter. The young person who helped me was like "you know you can call in to avoid a wait, right? Or order online? It's gonna be 20 min" - noted! There was nowhere to kill time or get a beer which was a bummer. Anyway the food - - absolutely worth the short wait and the location. We got 6 - Buffalo (great!) 6- Salt and Vinegar dry rub (meh) and 6 - garlic and parm (legit!!) - we tried to get some boneless but they only do those on Mondays I guess. The wings were delicious and meaty. The crunch was legit. The owner mentioned that s&v were her least favorite but said they were very popular. I liked the contrast of the the dry rub with the other two wet sauces but the rub was just too mild. Lessons learned: order ahead, come hungry and patient with the parking lot - these wings are worth it. read more

First time trying this place and it's so good! We ordered over the phone and were able to pick up pretty quickly. The wings were huge! We're didn't expect that. We ordered the 25 count and it ended up being too much due to the size of the wings but at least we have leftovers :) We also ordered biscuits which were also huge and mac and cheese which was okay. The wings stayed crispy and there was a good amount of sauce on them. We ordered garlic parmesan, honey lemon pepper, and buffalo sauce. The honey lemon pepper was our favorite! My sister and I came in tonight for the first time and the wing combos we got were delicious! This is a late post. I visited Ikonic Wings back in April. I was not incredibly hungry but I was craving wings. Other than Buffalo Wild Wings there was no other place for wings in the Tumwater or Olympia area. Yelp led me to Ikonic Wings. When I walked through the door I was met with a friendly smile by the owner and the cashier. It was a great start. So the owner told me about the wings and how they are prepared. The way these wings are prepared reminds of Hooters where they are breaded, fried, and then sauced afterwards. I am not a fan of this way of sauced wings. I prefer them to be fried naked and then sauced. The down side on my visit is that all of the wings were breaded already. There was no option for naked wings. I had to take away a star. So about the wings. These wings are huge. Be sure to come with an appetite. They are filling. I ordered the plain fried wings and mango habenero wings. I really liked the fried wings. There were fried very well and delicious. The mango habenero wings were sauced well. I was happy that the fried wings weren't swimming in sauce. They were a little soggy for me but delicious. I probably should have had the sauce on the side. I really wish that I could have finished all of the wings. It was a lot of food. honestly, hands down the best wings i've ever had. not only are they gigantic, but they are CRISPY, whew! the crunch is unreal. we got a mix of humongous drumsticks and huge flats. the flavors? forget about it. delicious and flawlessly seasoned. we tried the garlic parmesan, honey bbq, honey lemon pepper, and buffalo. buffalo had a bit of a kick, but the rest were mild--oddly, i liked the wild card (honey lemon pepper) the best, but they were all absolutely mouthwatering. when we picked up the wings, the person who helped me, whose name is sadly escaping me right now, was super friendly and also let me know that they have a seasonal flavor this month. i'm assuming there will be a new one every month in addition to the classics that are listed on the menu... when you call to order, make sure you ask about it! this spot is takeout only--nice for us because we don't live too far away, but if you have a bit of a trek, do not fear! believe it or not, our leftover wings stayed nearly as crispy heated up the next day as when we first tried them... and we didn't do anything fancy, we just threw them in the microwave instead of the oven. they stayed pretty moist too, which was impressive because they were so big, especially the drumsticks. we didn't get a combo, but we got a 25 piece meal. they include up to 2 flavors for free, and any additional flavors are and extra $0.30--that means it's slightly cheaper to go for a 25 piece with four flavors than it is to get two 12 pieces plates. not sure about the smallest order, but i believe most sizes allow up to two flavors for no additional cost. we will ABSOLUTELY be back. i'm already planning our next ikonic run because they were just so good, and they just decimated the wings craving i've had for weeks! note that they do not currently have boneless wings in stock, but the traditional ones are, like i said, giant and delicious. welcome to the neighborhood, please stay awhile!! :) read more
