I was a little apprehensive about this place considering the reviews... But, either it was a bad night or they made adjustments based on the customer feedback, because I didn't have any issues. I have been here 3 times now. Once an hour before close on a Tuesday night, once in the middle of lunch rush on a Friday, and once around dinner time during the week. All 3 visits I was greeted & seated immediately. I chose to sit in the dining room, since I don't drink. But you can sit in the bar, they have high top tables. My server Diana C came over within a few minutes and took my drink order. Came back promptly with drinks, and took my food order. She was attentive and friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly each time. The food was prepared correctly, seasoned well, and portions were generous. They have a great variety of items on the menu to choose from and cover breakfast through dinner. The experience was great, and I had no complaints. Me and my wife had lunch here last week. The service was good and the ambiance is nice (although when it's busy, it can be loud inside). Wife had the fish and chips which she enjoyed. She especially liked the batter on the fish, and the tots were good. I had a 1/3 lb. bacon burger with cheese. Came here after my niece did her band concert at school and this was the right place for a quick nosh. Got a cup of clam chowder which was just enough food. The niece got a burger and she seemed fine with it and my sister in law inhaled her tacos. Mom tried the fish and chips, but she was already done in by the clam chowder so she made me eat it. It was a little greasy and airy, so it wasn't my favorite. What I liked was the quick service and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. We had the clam chowder which was great, I had the mushroom burger but substituted with grilled chicken very good as well. I had the limoncello drop drink. They serve it in an ice glass inside a martini type glass. It was VERY good. They gave you the shaker bottle so it was a drink and half. I just had dinner there, I asked if the french dip had nice thin sliced lean roast beef, he said it did, It was well done roast beef with grissle in it not real thin sliced and not real flavorful. worst fish n chips I have ever had. There was probably 3 oz of actual fish and it had a very weird, almost chemical taste to it. Just ordered boneless Buffalo wings this morning from this location and 90% of the time I've ordered the boneless Buffalo wings they half fill the box. Only two times has the box been filled with chicken. The price for this should at least fill the whole box. I expect the box full as when I first ordered it, was full, it's always a hit or miss with the boneless wings and it's ridiculous on the chefs part to not give out the same portion. The was my family's first time here. When the server found out, she brought out a complimentary basket of chips. She did a great job - very attentive and quick with the refills for my kids drinks. Wife and I tried the house IPAs - just the right amount of hoppy without being overpowering. Burgers were good. Patties were hot, even amidst the colder condiments. My wife and I are locals and the last time we ate here it was ok. Things have improved! First off, Fallon our waitperson was awesome. Attentive, friendly, and personable. Fallon is a 5 star. We had the oink salad which was good. Chicken and ham and the avocado ranch dressing was really good. I had the fish tacos. It was good. Not super. But good. I went to celebrate my birthday with family to find that they have simplified their menu and took my fave item off the menu . I loved the tomato basil grilled cheese . The staff is wonderful and you can tell the management is good because the servers are relaxed and really nice. The food is always good. The sliders and the patty melt are my usuals. This is my neighborhood bar and I love the staff - how are they all so nice?! Soooo nice! They have a nice menu that is extensive for all your picky friends. I wish their happy hour menu had more food options that could be geared towards a gluten free or low carb diet but they do have a Cesar salad available for just over $6 and it's a good size. I enjoy their French onion soup on a regular basis as well as their hard liquors. They have McAllen scotch and Glenlivet and also have good tequilas too. I come here to get out of the house and just be somewhere other than my own home and I truly enjoy my surroundings. To set the scene I deliver for Uber Eats , I have 100% positive feedback and on average my tips are even more than originally stated for good service , until this night when hops made a false report for conduct after a manager named CANDACE went on a power trip and rampage Hops n Drops is one of my main locations I pick up around 10 orders daily never had any issues prior to 08/26 around 8pm ( my third order at this location that night ) I asked the restaurant to double check since bag felt too light they confirmed order was correct , after dropping off found out customers entire $70 order was missing I called hops on speaker at customers house the manager admitted they swapped orders and to come back to pickup a remake .... When I arrived I was shocked at what happen next As soon as I returned to hops the manager was clearly upset and irritated I could tell by how she approached me! Rolling her eyes Hops was very busy so understandably she was a little upset at the error on behalf of hops but the way she handled / treated me the driver this was not ok and frankly she took everything out on me for no reason From grabbing the original bag from my hands , yelling at me to double check ( which I did so did the restaurant ) , cussing , talking down to me saying I should've known this or that ... come on it all went down hill from from the moment I returned. She has no business working around customers , especially children! Shame on her there were children right next to me inside while this all unfolded Then once I grabbed the remake and try to leave she ran after me outside well STALKED me to my car still screaming and yelling loudly to not come back " your 86x from here meaning she will be trespassing me , she smiled and said buhhbye and more cussing pretty sure she called me the B word too " in front of all the drivers , your not going to belittle / disrespect me! I kept my cool until the very end when I let her know it's not ok to do what she did She also made a FALSE report to Uber for misconduct? Of course I'm fighting this and sent all my proof to Uber but I'm upset I even have to take time out of my day because a manager is horrible and on a power trip but to lie on a driver? I've been several times to HopsnDrops. No visit has been disappointing. I recently went for a work fiction and it turned out great! Wait staff is prompt and courteous. Had a burger and some beer. I didn't once feel like we were unattended to but the meals coming out weren't that fast, the place wasn't that busy but the beers and conversation held up so, no worries! My second recent visit was with family much smaller party and much faster service! Also, it was happy hour so the smaller "bar food" portions came out quickly were nice and hot and flavorful! Tried for the first time this evening. The service is very friendly and attentive without hovering, our waitress was great. The food was delicious!! I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with tots and it was very tasty. Their garlic ranch sauce is amazing! Their house made potato chips are yummy as well, also being a first time customer, they gave a complimentary bowl of their chips with the garlic ranch sauce and they did not go to waste. We pickup here every couple of weeks but when I arrived home discovered we had the incorrect order. Called the restaurant and they were very apologetic and said they were recooking our order and a manager will be speaking with me. When I arrived the order was soon ready, walked out by a manager (who also apologized) along with a gift card covering the cost of our meal. When a dining experience goes sideways, a restaurant's true customer focus and service comes out in how management handles the situation. This was a RARE MISTAKE, but now we're inclined to dine here more frequently knowing management is committed to a positive experience. And the food was great too! read more
