It was like a melody to my tastebuds. The decor was unique and cool. It had a prehistoric theme with dinosaurs around the outside. It had a cool vibe. It just isn't very good anymore. I just paid $23 for an extremely greasy and peppery burger that I had to throw away because it made me nauseous. I thought my side of onion rings would be good, but nope. They were either fried to a crisp or soft and squishy. Sadly, I won't be back. read more

There's an adjacent parking lot, some outdoor covered seating, and a drive through. Decor is whimsical dinosaur / superhero / pop culture. Definitely fun if you have the littles with you. Ordering is straightforward and during this detour, accurate and expedient from welcoming staff. It has been about twelve years since I have written my review for Eastside Big Tom's. The drive up was always on the funky side and we made it a tradition to stop here for lunch while on the way to the ocean beaches to run the dogs. The dogs eventually lost their enthusiasm for such a long car trip and so that kind of ended our frequent visits here. We used to go to a nearby park to eat our hamburgers and fries. But while we didn't go back for a quite a while Eastside Big Tom's changed quite a bit. They added seating on their premises which is under an open outside roof. And as you wander through this area it's loaded with dinosaur props! There are all sorts of dinosaurs hanging out here while you eat your burger and fries. They have a speaker on inside the open roof with snarling, growling and roaring in the style of what dinosaurs may do. Since they added seating they also added a walk up as well to place your orders in addition to the still existing drive up. Eastside Big Tom's has maintained their five star score just with the fact they made everything so much more funkier that it once was. My favorite things to order here is the cheeseburger, French Fries ( to share as it's a pretty big order) and a Dr. Pepper milkshake. The staff is always churning out the yummy food with an upbeat attitude. I don't know why they use so many paper bags for the items, though. I've had this place saved for a long time as I know this is such a unique spot in Washington that any Washingtonian or tourist should check out! I love the dinosaurs all decorated throughout the drive-thru. They even had dinosaur sounds playing every so often if you dine at their outdoor seating area which all have a bin filled with dinosaur figures. The prices here are fair as well, especially with how current fast food prices are. We went to go order and they have a bell to ring for service but the cashier there was good at ensuring customers didn't have to wait long and took orders efficiently. My boyfriend got their Big Tom while I got their fishwich which I hear the fish and chips are really good but I love fishwiches so went with that for this trip. We also got an order of their marshmallow milkshake and tots, my boyfriend was immediately drawn to the marshmallow flavor as you don't see it often. The milkshake was given to us first which was interesting as it seems they have two spaces where they operate: one for drinks and the other for the rest of the food. The milkshake was delicious but very thick. The food arrived not shortly after and it was nice and hot but extremely delicious. We love the goop, which I was surprised my boyfriend liked as he is not a fan of mustard and pickles but he said it was pretty good. We invited some friends with us and they said they were impressed with the food as well, maybe a tad bit more seasoning or vegetables but other than that it was cool experience overall. We look forward to coming back when the weather is nicer to take better pictures as it was a cloudy and rainy day when we visited. read more

Had a wonderfully delicious lunch here at Eastside Big Tom a while back and would certainly come back for more. Having lived in the area for a while and passed by this place many times, it always intrigued me. Decided to head there one day and brought my boys with me, as they were also excited about the chance for burgers, fries, and dinosaurs! We all had a burger of some sort (plain hamburger for one, plain cheeseburger for another, and bacon cheeseburger for me). They were great. Big, huge, juicy, and high quality meat --- did I say they were big? :-) I was super impressed with the bacon - not chewy or fatty at all. With sides of fries and washed down was shakes, it was gut filling and great! The atmosphere is equally great. The service was prompt and friendly; and the outdoor seating along picnic tables was nice. It's also very family friendly with each table having bins of toys and the like. The only bad part of the experience is the price. Our total for three burgers, three fries, and three shakes came to $50.00. Granted, it was delicious, but that's quite the sum to spend for a burger meal for three people. Just sayin'. read more

While traveling to the coast we found this gem for lunch. So glad we came here. The decorations was very festive and there was a parking lot. They have a special sauce called the goop and it's more on the more mustard, tart side with chopped relish. Very rich and chunky. Location is great with a separate drive thru and a sit down area. Ordered at the pick up window a regular burger, bacon burger, tots, chocolate shake and a drink. They have 2 covered areas to enjoy your food and bunch of things to look at while you wait. The burgers were the classic drive in style and it was delicious. The bacon in my bf's burger was so crunchy, really loved that. The tator tots was a sad quarter of the bag serving that they sell for $4.30. Big let down. The tots were hot and crunchy, more on the crunchy fried and less fluffy on the inside. They generously give customers free big tom stickers that the owner personally designs. So awesome! read more

Great food but this last time we went there was a hair in the chili cheese fries and it grossed me out.

Just driving by and saw this joint on the side of the road. I was hungry and looking for someplace new. This was definitely new to me so we stopped in. The outdoor decor was beyond awesome. Just watch your step so you don't get eaten by any of the massive dinosaurs walking the premises. Most of the decor was DINO-centric, but not all. Near the drive through was a whole lot of pop culture memorabilia and more. I would go into all of it, but just look through my photos, I uploaded a lot and that's only half of what I took. There were giant connect 4 games, toy dinosaurs, Batman, Grogu, Jetsons, and more. Plenty of shaded outdoor areas to eat. There were 2 kitchens, one for walk up and one for cars. Very unique if even just for the kitchy experience of it. In fact, when it was time to order, I was served by Big Tom's son... also named Tom. Who knew? Very friendly and helpful. Now to the food. I ordered a Double Deluxe which came with cheese, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and GOoP! GoOp? Well that's their special sauce here. I did try some but opted for just mayo and ketchup on my burger. The GooP had mustard and sweet relish in it, my friend loved it, but it was tad too sweet for me. Overall our burgers were absolutely delicious. I loved every bite. We also shared a french fry, and we each had a soda. One nice touch is they have Orange Crush, the best orange soda! I also tried a chocolate shake since they had an extensive menu of shake flavors... always try the basics first. This was one of my only areas of disappointment with the experience. The chocolate shake was just barely chocolate. Whatever chocolate syrup they were adding, it wasn't enough. It was like the LaCroix of chocolate shakes. Just a hint... I took a picture but my camera made it look more chocolaty than it was. I was too lazy to complain or send it back. My only other issue is, and maybe I'm just still out of touch with inflation, but 2 Burgers, 2 smaller sized sodas, 1 order of fries, and small not very chocolate shake shouldn't come to nearly $40 in my book. Perhaps I was paying for the experience of sitting on seats that looked like melting ice cream while playing Jenga next to stegosaur and some minions? The world may never know. Bottom line... Pretty solid burger and fries joint. Not out of the world, but definitely good. The prices are a little on the high side for a burger, but then again, it's a small business in this economy. If you don't want a burger, they also have chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, corndogs, chicken strips and a fish sandwich on the menu. We had two Deluxe cheeseburgers and they were good. Again, not amazing, but good. Fries were plentiful and hot. They don't salt the fries, but they do supply little salt packs to DIY, which is a nice touch. Their goop is some mayo-mustard-relish hybrid. I liked it enough, but I can see it being a love it/hate it thing for some. They put the goop on almost all of their sandwiches, but they also supply ketchup packets. Staff at the drive up are always friendly. There is parking in case you want to pull up after you order and eat in the car. There is also a lot for the walk-up side of the business. It's in a pretty quiet neighborhood, but the drive-up window is perilously close to the street, so use caution when pulling in during busy times. read more

Driving past big Tom the out side draws you in and your greeted to friendly staff. They're helpful and recommended burgers that they like. I ended up ordering the holy cow but I was not impressed. Sure the burger was okay but for the price and the kinda theme of the restaurant tbe burger was lacking. Bacon was thin so was tbe burger patty. My son's burger the same unmemorable too. Big Tom's is a pretty popular spot here in Olympia especially for families. It's got a ton of whimsy with big dinosaurs all around, shrubbery, outdoor picnic inspired seating. They hire a bunch of sweet kids who work really hard and I appreciate that. The milkshakes are average but the tots with goop are great. If you're going to do this right I recommend the Big Tom. You can't go wrong and you're going to have a hard time doing better at the price point. The only thing that prevents this place from getting a perfect score is, mediocre shakes, and a menu That's solid but not very creative. That being said, I recommend this place highly. read more

Had not been out for a while since the last time I felt their burgers were small and not that great. We have special diets in our family, so it is hard to find a place to accommodate. Of co course, as fate would have it, my picky eaters order was wrong. Instead of getting the chicken strips they wanted they gave him fish and chips which he hates. Did not discover this until I was home. Service was quick and courteous. I asked for a double Boca, and they kept questioning the decision which is o.k. I guess, however I wish they would use impossible instead as it is better tasting. Bocca is so-so. My double with the gluten free bun was o.k. but small they charged an extra $4.35 for the bun and all I could taste was goop. The double bacon was good and fries were fantastic. Tots were alright. The worst part is their phones DO NOT WORK! NOR THEIR ONLINE ORDERING OR FACE BOOK MESSAGES. I have to literally will have to drive back to tell them their mistake. read more

Driving through and we saw this cute lil burger joint, with its Jurassic Park decorations and burger characters. The food was pretty good and the prices were on par for the portions, but what impressed me the most was the speed of the service! These guys don't mess around. They were looking for us with our food while we headed to our table (just after ordering). Simply impressive. The burgers were super yummy and the fries/tots hot and crispy. I originally found out this place from the book "Hamburger America" by George Motz (also the host of Burger Scholar Sessions on Youtube). Since we were in the Olympia area I wanted to finally cross this place off my list. There is a small parking lot and what's also cool is that there's a counter for dine-in and there's also a small stand for drive-through. The dine-in area feels like a zoo and Jurassic Park with all the trees and dinosaurs. I ordered the Big Tom ($8.19) and the tater tots ($3.53). The patties in the burger were a bit dry which was a little disappointing but I was starving so it was still good. It's your typical burger with a sesame bun, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickle, and cheese. What's popular about Eastside Big Tom is their famous goop sauce which seems to be just a mayonnaise, mustard, and relish mix. We ordered a side of it for 25 cents and it went well with the tater tots and there was also some in the burger. The food came out so quickly; by the time we had gotten to our table and our water, the food was brought to us. They have a variety of milkshakes including the interesting shake of the month that was peanut butter and pickle juice. The Bacon Burger here at Eastside Big Tom is both the messiest and the most delicious burger I've ever had in Olympia. Crumpled bacon gives an immediate burst of flavor just after your teeth sink into that juicy, all-beef patty. A soft white sesame-seeded bun cradles the contents, which includes cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and goop. My order: hold the onion. The genius of the Big Tom Bacon Burger is that a handful of bacon completely covers the patties, ensuring you'll get some of that luscious bacon in every bite. I think the Big Tom "pile-o'-bacon" method is much better than using strips. The bacon is both soft and crispy and mouth-wateringly salty. It's just so bacon-y. It's delicious and perfect. There's bacon in every bite. Mmmm. Did I mention the bacon? What about the goop? Yes, it turns out that goop is the secret sauce of Big Tom. Sauce kept oozing out of the side of the bun with nearly every bite. It was so good. I wiped sauce out of my mustache and licked it off my fingers. And sauce was all over the paper sack the burger came wrapped in. When the burger was gone, I licked goop off the sack. Goop. The wonderful sauce with an unfortunate, if memorable, name. My guess is that goop is mayo, mustard, and sweet pickle relish all mixed together. And in a ratio of 3:2:1? I'm not sure on the math, but I loved the taste. It's mostly mayonnaise and it reminded me of a carnival burger I once had as a kid. The goopy sauce and cheese blended with the bacon and meat in the soft bun so deliciously. If you love griddled meat and mayonnaise between a bun, take it from me and take a trip to Big Tom. The Bacon Burger at Big Tom is my vote for best burger, for sure. When we got the Chocolate Banana shake we were surprised to find real bananas, too!! Came here for ice cream and discovered you can't do it at drive thru. Got out of the car to try their soft serve and whatever the ice cream at McDonalds is better. This ice cream reminds me of the ice milk they serve. It reminds me of the type of ice cream you get in small towns out of carts in the Philippines- it'll cool you off, but it's not too tasty because but it's watery. They really need to switch out whoever provides their soft serve mix because it really should be creamier. The seating area is nice and covered, but not enough to hold crowds. read more

Ok guys I admit it, big toms is great. I have a huge problem with these kind of burger joints because locals are always like it's the best burger, but usually it isn't and it's just hometown nostalgia that keeps it going. But Big Tom, you do not fall in this category. Your burgers are juicy, and a big tom with bacon is quite possibly the best burger. Shakes are thick and flavorful. I love the service. There were three of us in line, and three people rushed up to take our order. I love the covered area to sit. I feel like they care about their customers and that makes it a win in my book. I did take a star off for three reasons but they seem kinda trivial when compared to how good their burgers are. 1) crinkle cut fries.... Yuck. Whenever I see crinkle cut fries I'm disappointed. Imagine how good some fresh cut fries would be with these burgers. The kind with the skins still on the end pieces come on dude fry game is a little weak. 2) Goop is too good to be charging extra for. You should at least get one goop on the side free, and after that extra could cost. 3) available sides, the only option are fries and onion rings ... For those of us that hate crinkle cuts there should be a couple options. Maybe homemade sliced chips, or a personal favorite of mine, deep fried pickles. Just give us another option besides crinkle fries. Anyway, these are small issues, nothing that would keep me from coming back. This is what childhood dreams are made of. At least, this is what my childhood dreams and memories were of, with many stops at Eastside Big Tom's. You know you're from Oly when you want some goop with your burger and fries! Eastside Big Tom's is a burger spot that I grew up eating. It's a casual burger joint, known for their burgers with a thin, smashed patty with gooey, melted American cheese, shredded lettuce and goop, their housemade secret sauce. If I had to guess, I'd say it taste like a mix of mustard and tartar, with chunks of chopped pickle throughout. Don't skip out on it. In fact, pay the extra fee for some goop with your fries, for it just makes sense. My usual order is a deluxe cheese, that's a single patty with cheese, shredded lettuce, diced onion, tomato, pickles and goop, with fries on the side plus more goop and a butterscotch shake. You can get a smaller burger or a bigger burger or a fancy burger, like one with jalapenos or try any of their chicken sandwiches. Whatever you get it, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and they have housemade shakes with real ice cream, so none of that powder bullshit. Get a shake! Plus, the artwork around is something to see, especially if you're with kids or a kid at heart, with colorful murals of Flintstone characters and dinosaurs. Ya just gotta see it. If you don't wanna dine in, they have their OG burger drive-thru stand. When I was a kid they only accepted cash, but times have changed, and they now take plastic. Lots of tables and chairs for dining in. You order at the counter where they call out your number for when your food is ready.
