I finally got to try Katsu Burger with my son earlier this week (weekday afternoon), and I can confidently say it lived up to the hype! When I initially walked in, it wasn't too busy, but it filled up quickly while I was still figuring out how to order. They use a kiosk system where you choose dine-in or takeout, and it's nicr that each menu item had photos and ingredient descriptions so it made it way easier to decide, especially for our first visit. The space itself is small and quaint with a couple tables, but full of lovely art. There's lots of cute anime and Japanese-themed decor, including figurines, plushies, and artwork, giving the place such a cozy, cutesy aesthetic. I also noticed they might be hiring, based on the sign at the entrance. I came here because my cousin-in-law (who lives in upper Washington) mentioned the place, and I needed a redemption meal after being disappointed by another chicken spot recently. Katsu Burger definitely delivered! The burgers here aren't your typical American-style burgers. They don't taste as greasy and sub cabbage instead of lettuce, similar to garnish for a tonkatsu plate. And surprisingly, the photos on the kiosk actually match what you get (no false advertising here!). The employee behind the counter was super kind and helped guide us through the ordering process. I don't think they take cash so maybe that's why orders are placed through the kiosk. For food: My son ordered the Tokyo Tower burger as-is, and I tried the Umami Burger with light cabbage (not a huge fan of crunchy water veggies like lettuce/cabbage/etc.). Both were AMAZING. I have heard of tonkatsu but I had no idea what beef katsu was before this. Thought it was just a regular beef patty, but wow.. it was crispy, flavorful, and just overall delicious. We ordered takeout and didn't even get home for about 30 minutes, but the food was still warm enough to enjoy without reheating. Portion-wise, my burger was perfect: filling but manageable (i think i made the right choice with light cabbage). My son's Tokyo Tower was massive (almost too big for him to handle xD), but we both agreed everything tasted incredible. I was tempted to try a bento box, but I knew I wouldn't finish it if I was already ordering a katsu burger. Next time though! My son already has his eye on the enormous Mt. Fuji burger, so we'll definitely be back. Parking is decent, though it can get busy during the day since it's near a gym and other businesses. Overall, if you're in the Lacey area, you HAVE to try this Katsu Burger at least once. It looks like they have about 8 other locations too in the other towns so if you're not in Lacey, there still might be one nearby you. The burgers are absolutely the star of the show :) I'm already looking forward to our next visit! read more

I was happy to find out that Lacey had its own Katsu Butger. I'd been to the one in Georgetown in Seattle. I recently moved back to Lacey from Seattle and am glad to see great restaurants from Seattle choosing to open up shop here. I absolutely love burgers, I actually prefer mine no frills and class. But I also love Japanese food--Katsu Burger is the perfect solution when I can't decide between something Asian or a burger for dinner. The Lacey location is at a spot that once served great burgers when I was a kid and was also a Thai joint for a while. read more

Great service, very friendly. The place is light & bright with a clean dining area AND bathrooms. Good choices on the menu. You order through the tablets and they make your food and bring it out to you. Everything was prepared well, seasoned well, and presented well. Very tasty food; katsu was extra crispy & juicy, and not greasy at all. The fries were good, they reminded me of In-N-Out fries. Fried chicken or pork chop burgers are pretty good but no thank you to the deep fried hamburger. The fries aren't bad. The milk shakes are average at best. I had higher hopes for this place. Maybe they will improve over time. I do love the cat pictures. read more

Food I had the Tokyo Classic Beef, 12 spices fries, and Green Tea Milkshake. The burger was good and juicy, but wasn't drenched in sauces which is good and less messy. Green tea milkshake was on the sweet side for my taste, but it was good. Service Cashless, order in kiosk, and the server will bring your food to your table. Also, the server went to everyone's table and ask how everything was. Make sure you properly dispose of the trash and don't live it on the table. Ambiance Noise level is average with background music. The place is well kept and clean. Nothing fancy just a good burger place. read more

I ordered online for pickup recently and got the Katsu Curry Chicken and the Nori fries. I had a coupon with DoorDash so it was a great deal. I'd never been here and was wanting a good chicken sandwich. It fulfilled all my cravings and was so good and huge btw! Definitely will be back again when I need a nice big fried sandwich. I've seen this place for months hyped up on an Olympia FB page, so I wanted to honor the positive reviews with a visit. I was fascinated by all the unique flavor in my Impossible Burger even being at the back end of a cold. The burger add ins were a perfect choice for me Minus pickle and tomato. Two add ins I NEVER add. My wife's Chicken was crisp but juicy. Seems the only opportunity for either of us was in the fries. Though mine was was a bad choice for the seasoning (I added a curry shake, this wasn't a good choice for me and I wouldn't get it again. For my wife she said her fries just weren't hot enough but we chalked that up to being take out and led to took much time for them to cool down. Both of us would go again. I'm actually craving the burger today and would have it again if I could! My wife did add the fries seem to be bigger portions for in house orders. read more

New spot in Lacey driving a lot of excitement, so we came to check it out. We were the first ones in. Walk up to kiosk and order. No cash accepted. Lady behind the counter said to let her know if we needed any help. People were coming in as we waited, looks like a good start to the day. Food came out quickly. We got the Godzilla Attack burger. The cheese on the burger was not melted. Meat to bun ratio--could use a little mote meat. Toppings were good and fresh. I definitely like that cabbage is used instead of lettuce. We opted to make it a meal which was an additional $6.60. We went with the Nori Fries. They were just okay. All in all...just okay. Not good enough for the $21.45 price tag for one burger meal. I've eaten at the South Seattle location when I lived in King County, so I was super hyped to have the Lacey location open up after moving to Thurston County a few years ago. This is what I like to call designer food.. meaning that they don't just put up the typical F-ve Guys or In and O*t burger, which you can find that style at a gazillion places, many of which are outstanding (thinking of you Vans, Buns of Glory, Eastside Big Tom), but this menu is an eclectic mix of tastes and flavors you absolutely will not find anywhere else.. It's Japanese Fusion Burgers, so if you're of fan of fusion, or Japanese inspired tastes.. GO HERE! This place is not just for meat eaters! Their Impossible Katsu Burger is nearly an inch thick and loaded with FLAVOR. They also have a tofu burger that I haven't tried yet. There are a tremendous number of ways to personalize your burger. And fries. There is no scent of old oil in this place. After reading so many great reviews I had to try Katsu Burger today and it is well worth the stop. Had the Tokyo Classic Chicken. The vegetables were a great addition. Curry Fries are the bomb. The best thing we had here were their furikake fries. Probably will not return. Want a great burger nearby try the new Smashburgers near 23 Kitchens. Really fine food. Coming from the Midwest myself, I recognize that the American version of this is the Midwest "Pork Tenderloin" sandwich, which oddly does not use pork tenderloin as a cut. The idea here is also the same as a European Schnitzel sandwich. They're all breaded, fried protein in a burger roll. "Katsu" is the frying method in Japan: the favorite version is Tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet), but Katsu Burger offers numerous other proteins (beef, chicken, tofu). What's special here are the sauces and other fillings in the sandwiches. This is not your grandfather's burger. Wasabi dressing and shredded cabbage? (Delish.) The prices are a few clicks higher than people typically expect for a "burger." But these are not just any old burger, and maybe those who like quality and novelty/fusion can keep this place afloat. I dream about Katsu Burger. This place is literally why I will never lose any weight! haha. I have tried a few others in The Sound, but this one in Lacey is by far, my favorite. The staff in there just go above and beyond to make your experience amazing. I drive all the way from the Peninsula to visit (about 1 hour drive). The lady who works in there, I think she is the owner or manager, she just tries so hard to make every customer feel at home. The food is amazing and their standards are just so awesome. Online order is great. Yesterday, I had an issue with an online order (I think the time change caused some weird y2k issue in the order system, lol), and it changed my pickup time and store in the order process. I walked into the Lacey location (the one I had meant to order from) and the lady reached out to their central order help desk to get me assistance. She really went above and beyond to help, even calling multiple times to help. She remedied it. And made sure my order in-store was perfect. I would post pics, but my food doesnt last long enough to photograph! Portions are great, quality is superb. My go to order is the Curry Burger with Beef, with Curry fries with curry mayo. My spouse loves the Tokyo classic and sometimes Godzilla, and the nori fries with Tonkatsu. I can also vouch for their hotdogs (so yummy) and the katsu curry. Best of both worlds. We told the gentleman in the front it was our first time and he was very helpful. Outrageously delicious hamburgers! Easily the best actual burger meat I've ever had. Not sure what they put in it, but it's delicious. The rest of the condiments on the burger are no slouch either. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Katsu Burger in Lacey. There were so many great choices but we started with the basic and shared a "Tokyo Classic" burger. You can choose between beef, pork, or chicken. We went with the chicken and it was simply bursting with flavor! We also shared a side of the wasabi coleslaw which was amazing! The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean and orderly, and tastefully decorated.
