I noticed they took out the floor seating on the upper stair level and that bummed me out a bit. I felt so rushed to eat here because the staff kept checking in to see if we wanted anything else. Was not even near closing time, but I felt so interrupted by the staff. I understand that they are doing their job, but really, the table needs to breathe! No need to clean right away if u see that the customers are engaged in deep conversation! Food was just okay. The server lied to me about the pickup time and when pressed about it, they actually suggested walking me around the restaurant to ask other patrons why they were there and taking up the staff's time. At this point, even the patrons looked concerned at how this server was handling the situation. After the original 45-minute online estimate, my food took an additional hour and a half to be prepared. The sushi is sub-par, and it is absolutely not worth being treated like garbage over. The food is just not good here. Everything is bland and generic. Actually it's all kind of gross, in a way I can't put words to. Like when the sushi rice is more mushed together than grains, it's just an immediate sign that something is wrong. I came with a larger group so I was able to sample a wide variety of rolls, nigiri, and even teriyaki. The service was apathetic - our table's food arrived but mine didn't (clearly forgotten when they have to be reminded what you ordered) and I had to wait while other orders kept getting completed and served without our server checking on it at all. I've been going to Sushi House, usually for lunch, for a number of years, so often lately that the staff recognizes me when I walk in. I used to order the chirashi (chef's choice sashimi over rice in a bowl) all the time bc it featured most of the sashimi I enjoyed. Plus, it had about 2 cups of tasty white sushi rice, a favorite! Lately, though, I've been trying to cut back on carbs, so I've been going with the sushi combos. Most dishes come with a nice hot, mild, miso soup. I also see many orders of rolls go by, so they appear enjoyable to customers, too. The simple, warm, decor has improved over the years, possibly due to new management. Give it a try. read more

We used to LOVE the Sushi House SO much. Not anymore. We went to have lunch there last week Wednesday 7/30/2025. The Sashimi plate my husband ordered was much smaller than it used to be. Super thin slices of fish and just less fish overall for the high price of $32.00, not worth the money. SAD for us and for the restaurant. I ordered the Sushi House Sushi Roll which I have had before $19.00, not cheap at all. The roll was SO much skinner than it was before. WAY less rice on the roll than before & the rice is the cheapest thing on the roll. I understand that everything is more expensive these days but $19.00 for a sushi roll?? My husband and I love to try our new restaurants once a month for our date night, last weekend, we decided to try this restaurant out. With that being said, there were some things that stuck out which made our visit not as pleasant as we were hoping. The sushi was delicious and very creative in appearance. We tried 4 different rolls and felt that each one was good in flavor, texture and combinations. Food aside, we were not quite happy with the choice of music and the loudness of it. The music was filled with 'F' bombs, sex, and inappropriate behavior/wording. It was completely unexpected from a sushi restaurant that also had a children's menu. The music was incredibly loud and it felt almost like a club which is not how my husband and I were expecting to experience during our lunch. It was hard to think let alone hold a conversation. There is a time and place for music like that, but during lunchtime on a Saturday is just absurd. We will not be returning. The sushi always taste fresh and the value is great for the quality and portion of your food. The raw salmon is some of the best I've had. Truly some of the most generous portion sizes. The baked scallop hand roll I lovingly describe as a snow cone where the ice is crab meat and rice and the syrup is a sweet soy and spicy creamy sauce (then the whole thing is topped with scallops. it's unreal). The salmon hand roll is always impressively packed and the fish is super fresh. The tofu agedashi is flavorful and balanced- I would definitely consider going back just for that! I spent 25 of my work life doing business in Japan. On the basis of local reviews, I thought I'd try the Sushi House to re-create those memories. To be fair this review is limited, not about the sushi, but the tempura udon and service. It was a Friday evening and I came a bit early to beat the dinner crowd. The place was busy even then so I sat at the counter, being a single guest, not wanting to tie up a table from larger party. It took about 15 minutes to be waited upon. Maybe out of sight? Anyway, once my order was taken, zoom - every thing arrived all at once within minutes. There was no pacing of the appitizer and miso into the main course. I kind of felt like I was an after thought to the wait staff honestly. The udon broth was weak by my taste with few veggies. The tempura was a bit skimpy, especially the small prawn. I did enjoy my Kyoto-style pickles however. The sake was perfectly hot and went down very well! All in all, I'd call this a "ma-ma" (so so) experience. We didn't make reservations, just walked. Was told a 20 minute wait, which ended up being only 10 minutes. The service was stellar and very fast! $7/appetizer is usually unheard of! We got two apps, pork egg rolls and calamari strips. Both came out fast and were very tasty! The calamari especially was seasoned well and crispy coating with side dipping sauces. The owner/manager gave us a complimentary app as well, Crab Rangoon, with real crab! EXCELLENT! The owner was very friendly and apologized for our wait (only 10 mins) and asked us where we were from. It's rare that someone above a waitress is interested in a table at all. We appreciated the extra attention. He went around to many tables. Very nice touch! We planned to just get entrees for dinner but the Bento box choices looked interesting. We've never had Bento boxes before. It's A LOT of food! After the three apps and a hard attempt to get through our Bento boxes, we did end up needing to-go boxes. Can't wait to finish them for lunch tomorrow. We will for sure be back to this restaurant!
