Grilled confit octopus and zucchini
Arra B.

My husband and I decided to dine here during our visit in Olympia for lunch on Valentine's Day After finding this highly reviewed place on google. The place was clean and had great lighting. The bathroom was in the middle of renovation it looked like so it had an industrial smell that they were airing out with a portable filter. There was only one server and I knew he was busy with the other guests so I just had to let him know of our requests for chopstick before I ate the food they just served on their table. The food was delicious, the flavors and presentation of the dishes were very well thought out. Our favorite was the clam and shrimp chowder and I later found out after letting our server know that it was our favorite that it had more of an Asian fusion to it with miso, which I was surprised about because I did not taste the miso flavor as the flavors balanced out real well. The desserts were also very delicious! Would love to come back again when we're around Olympia.

Really good food! We went last night (2 people) and while it wasn't busy, we were seated promptly and attended to quickly. Our server was really nice, the chef in the kitchen waved hello. We got the white truffle and artichoke dip app, gyoza, and the duck croquettes for starters. My husband had the ribs and I got the chicken katsu curry w/rice. It was really good, we'll definitely be back! I do wish more people were in there but from 6:30-7:30pm, it was just us and a 4-top.

I've been here many times, still love it. They make delicious food and service is good.

Amazing food, ambiance, and service. I had: 1) salad kale 2)Salmon donburi 2) cream brûlée 3) steak donburi On a previous trip also had the dumplings, octopus, kale salad, and steak. Difficult to put into words, everything was amazing. Michelin style meals right there in downtown Olympia.

Beautiful interior, clean and modern. I almost forgot we were in downtown. Even the dish and cups had fun design. I love the open kitchen concept. The bathroom though could use some remodeling to match the vibes. Our server, Taiesha(?) was awesome. She checked on us multiple times. The food was delicious. We tried the hamachi carpaccio and liked it more than we thought we would! We loved the sauce and the wasabi avocado yogurt dressing on top was interesting (in a good way!). Never had it before. It didn't have the wasabi taste. The sauce was sweet and everything was paired well. We tried the seared salmon and eel Donburi. The salmon was perfectly smoked, but the dish is a bit "wet" once you break the egg and mix with the rice & sauce. I liked the corn in the eel bowl, it brought nice texture / crunch to each bite. My eel felt a bit smaller compared to the other pictures on Yelp. So overall, portion did seem a bit small but price is fair. We also tried the citrus creme brûlée which was decent but nothing notable. I probably wouldn't get this again. Overall, great spot. Would recommend!

We're looking for something new and found this place on Yelp. The foods were delicious. We ordered the hamachi carpaccio, truffle artichokes dip, crab meat spaghetti, unadon, crab meat don, and sticky date pudding. We didn't have any leftovers and were full and happy.

Sticky Date

We came back yesterday with our parents and brother for dad's 65th birthday. Our family loved the food. They were going to go to a regular chain restaurant and we suggested coming here instead. Everything from the appetizer, down to the dessert was very tasty. Service was very good as well. We had a good family time and enjoyed our food very much. The owner even got us an extra dessert for dad's birthday! We definitely will be coming back again soon :)

The space is really nice, there is no dedicated parking so depending on when you're visiting parking could be a little further away. The prices were what you'd kinda expect for the area. Each of us got a Donburi bowl, the eel, karragge and salmon. The salmon bowl is really wet, especially if you like a runny egg. Need more crunchy texture, just something to break it up. The eel was good as well as the chicken. We also got a side of fries which was topped with furikake which was tasty. We also got the mushroom arancini which were okay. I probably wouldn't get it again.

Tried this out because we'd heard good things about the food. The place is nicely appointed and impressive and intimate for date night, but what's up with the ultra high bench seating at the windows. Sit there and you have the table sitting on your lap, so if they ever do a redesign, please shave half a foot off the benches. As for the food, they need to do a little work. We tried the roasted pumpkin and that was both tough and mushy and the sauce was not working. I really gave it a shot, but after a few chews, I had to spit it out in my napkin because I couldn't handle the taste or consistency. Sis for the crab meat spaghetti and it needed a creamier sauce or something. Mom tried the Aburi salmon don and she thought it was okay, but she didn't finish it. I tried the Karaage don and I actually liked it, but I also have had better. I wanted to like this but I felt I was doing all the work to try to like it, rather than sitting there enjoying my meal. I think maybe my standards are a little high and my expectations were definitely at a place beyond this restaurant's reach, but don't let that stop you. Give it a try because people say good things about this, so maybe this place is just not for me.

This place is a gem in Olympia. I come here regularly, and the food is always excellent. The ambiance is wonderful and the service is great. I'm making the most of it while it's still around!

The items we ordered were well prepared and presented and were delicious. A very nice young couple opened the restaurant recently. The husband graduated from the Cardon Bleu from Paris. We highly recommend this new restaurant.

EXCELLENT food, amazing service and tasty drinks. Price is hard to beat for the quality you get in every single dish. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in downtown Olympia. 10/10!!!!

I forget the name of this cocktail but it's the one with yuzu and vodka. Fresh and piquant.

They've been open 1 week and I've been twice. What a delightful addition to downtown Oly. The staff are incredibly nice, the food has been very good, and the cocktails are intriguingly offbeat. The menu has something for most diets but it's a refreshingly strong choice for vegetarians, vegans, and people who don't do dairy. My favorite choices have been the tempuras (light and fresh), the broccolini salad, and the donburi bowls. I'm excited to try more.

The food and presentation has remained a solid 10 out of 10. Lamb shanks and duck breast in a reduced cherry sauce that was perfectly prepared, presented and served. I am very particular about duck even if you can find it on a menu. It was a 12. If you miss this dining experience you lose. This is European chefing at its finest. In Parkland no less. A 3 or 4 times a year type of fine dining place. Yes, we eat out often and know our stuff.

I HAD to order the French onion soup (practically a mandatory order for me whenever I see it on a menu). Le Sel Bistro definitely met my expectations because it was rich and flavorful with plenty of cheesy, savory goodness. Mmmm! Definitely had me satisfied along with my entrée. I ordered the Pork Belly Benedict, and it was absolutely delicious. I love me a good pork belly and this was a unique twist on the classic Eggs Benedict that I had to try, adding a savory flavor that complemented the dish perfectly. Everything was cooked well and beautifully presented. My friend ordered the (classic? Daily special?) French toast and completely demolished his plate before I had even finished mine! It looked incredible, and by how quickly it disappeared, we agreed it tasted pretty good (I had a small bite). The ambience and décor are exquisite, creating a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that's perfect for a leisurely brunch. We dined indoors, enjoyed a great conversation over our meal, and never felt rushed. The customer service was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. While the prices are a bit high if you're comparing it to a typical breakfast spot, they're exactly what I'd expect from a bistro. I'd recommend budgeting at least $25+ per person if you're ordering a meal. Between the quality of the food, the inviting atmosphere, and the excellent service, I felt it was well worth the price. I would totally recommend this as a fancy breakfast location and would return to try more of the menu.

My husband and I had a very disappointing experience for our Valentine's Day date at Dockside…read more My review was reported so this is an edited version without commentary on our subpar service. The food was delicious, an easy 5 stars, despite being served cold. My husbands ribeye was delicious and cooked exactly as he asked. The elk was AMAZING, melt in the mouth. I really wish it had been brought warm because it would've been so much better. They had roses on our table, which was very nice. The service on the other hand was incredibly disappointing. We arrived 5-10 minutes before our reservation and it was immediately evident that they were understaffed. The staffer who sat us was very kind and offered us a space heater due to the cold and being sat so close to the door. We agreed, but he did not come back with said heater. Our waitress was unprofessional (subjective experience bas been removed). We asked for the space heater because it was very cold inside, and she did bring one. Once the menus were given to us she came back 20 minutes after our reservation time to take our orders. Then we waited 90 minutes for the food to arrive. Between that time we had the wrong food brought to us on 2 separate occasions. She did the same thing with the tables near us. (Unprofessional conduct removed). She did say that a staffer had dropped out at 3 pm so they were shorthanded. But irrespective of the cause, it really soured our evening. I wanted to provide a full review of my experience but after my review was reported I will just say, this was only our experience. I've been to dockside before with much better service. But we will NEVER go again after this experience. I was looking forward to going to Dockside Bistro after not going for a few years and was so embarrassed having planned this special night. I talked it up to my husband and was very much let down.

Anyway my party cam in three different cars and I thought they would give away our table because of that, but our server was nice and showed me to my table anyway. Maybe it was because it was a bigger table and they knew it would be hard to get us another one like that because most of the tables are two tops. Service took a long time(we even waited for our bread for a long time), but he food was solid. The bread was served with a sun dried tomato chimichurri type sauce and my 10 year old niece liked it so much she ate half of it. Three of us got the scallops and everyone liked it. Mom got the Ahi appetizer and she liked it. The calamari was great- nice and salty and mixed with a couple of potato straws and onion sticks, which was a nice surprise. I had the cod, which was nice, but I've had better. We were a little far from the window,so we didn't get to enjoy the view, but at least we were in our own little seating area where we had a lot of space. Dinner was fine, but not great. Nothing stood out food wise, the food came super slow even though when we were there,it wasn't really busy and those things matter. Our server was great and the ambiance nice, but the dinner was super pricey for just okay food.
