We come to Trapper's regularly for that all you can eat sushi. The sushi is better than anything we find anywhere else and the service is always amazing! Lexi, Ari, Angel, Austin, Ty, and Joseph recognize us when we come in each time and are thoughtful with their interactions with us and other guests. Lots of creative rolls! I enjoyed "The Migs" roll, just a little spicy. The Paradise roll was good if you like sweet coconut shrimp. My daughter enjoyed the rainbow roll. Veterans Day was yesterday and my BIL & SIL treated my husband and I to AYCE lunches at Trapper's Sushi in Lacey, WA. Thank you Veteran's!! The AYCE dining is at the sushi counter. Due to my husband who uses a wheelchair, they allowed our party to sit at a 4 top table and enjoy our sushi there which we truly appreciated. My husband is physically unable to sit in a higher bar stool. We have eaten at Trapper's in Silverdale, Bonney Lake, Lacey, Parkland and Tacoma several times in the last 8 months. When we lived in Las Vegas for 3 years, we frequently would have the discussion of how nice it would be if Trapper opened a Vegas location. We strongly believe that Trapper's would be very successful there. We also recently discovered that there are new Trapper's restaurants in Arizona, YAY!! My husband and BIL actually met Trapper and dined frequently at his first restaurant, Sushi Town in Bonney Lake around 20 years ago. We really enjoy getting our sushi cravings satisfied at the Trapper's restaurants. The food is delicious, made fresh to order, and the value is fair. They do have a rewards program as well as a veterans discount. Thank you!! For some reason, the service was extremely slow yesterday at the Lacey location. There appeared to be more than enough staff members working the sushi bar area, the hostess, and wait staff. I waitressed for several years prior to becoming a registered nurse. Our waitress simply did not have her head in the game. She was extremely distracted. We requested extra napkins twice from her and they never were brought. The third time, a male waiter came over and my husband asked him and the request was satisfied quickly. Waters were finally refilled, but no ice. To me, when I asked for ice water, that is exactly what I would like please. I am not a pop drinker. Even with low sodium soy sauce, I get thirsty quickly and easily can drink 2 glasses of water. I just found it quite peculiar to pour water out of a stainless steel pitcher and not a single ice cube in either my or my SIL's water glasses. I always tip quite well. Let's face it, maybe 2 rolls, and some appetizers....AYCE buffets love me because I don't eat the price of the meal. More water means I get fuller faster. So wait staff please pay attention to detail. Put yourself in your customers shoes. Work as if you were sitting there waiting over 30 minutes to get your order started and hadn't eaten since the day before. I sat facing the sushi bar and could see sushi orders piling up at the end of the counter waiting for wait staff to retrieve them to deliver the food to customers. We arrived around 2:15pm and the restaurant wasn't overly filled with patrons. Maybe the service would have been better with another waiter, or possibly one or two less wait staff. Maybe the waitress was newer in her role there. But she did say that she has known Trapper for 9 years. Maybe she just needs more time and additional mentoring. We very recently ate at the Silverdale (definitely 5 stars), location and it was impeccably clean. The hostess could be seen wiping down menus and counters when she was not helping a customer. Our waitress, Melissa that day was phenomenal! She like many other wait staff spoke exceptionally high of Trapper and the family like working atmosphere. She has worked there for 10 years. Those are the feel good stories that leave you smiling because you see the authenticity beaming how pleased she is to be an integral Trapper's family member. I wish I could say the same for the Lacey location. The floors had visible trash on them. One thing that bothered me was looking up and seeing gnats flying around near the ceiling lights. We all enjoyed our food yesterday at the Lacey location, that is, when the food was finally delivered. The sushi chefs did a fantastic job with the presentation of the rolls and appetizers. The hostess was pleasant and even sang happy birthday to my husband. Recommendations for future improvement at the Lacey location: better attention to details, quicker responsiveness, retrieving and delivering food promptly, owning pride of doing your job done well. Maintaining a clean environment, working together as a family team. There is no I in team, and coming in with a positive attitude, helping each other out only shines a brighter light on each other and the company. The more satisfied the customers are equivalates to larger tips. And, being positive and interactive with your teammates and customers helps the shift go by faster and so much more enjoyable. Overall 4 stars for the food quality, price and presentation at Lacey yesterday. 2.5 stars for cleanliness. 2 stars for waitress. And again, the Silverdale location, waitress Melissa, hostess, sushi chefs, restaurant cleanliness all 5 stars. read more

Boy was this place cold inside! Luckily we had a blanket in the car for our little one. The faux wood metal chairs were absolutely uncomfortable and made our time there even colder. Service was slow and food was even slower. Sure it was Mother's Day weekend but waiting over 25 minutes for food is no fun especially with a 'hangry' little one. Seating was limited and crowded. It's the first time I've ever seen multiple families with their babies be seated at the counter bar area. They take reservations and walk-ins but I recommend making a reservation because our wait was 30 minutes. I might try this place again. Food was okay. We were not fans of the menu options for kids. This was our first time being in Lacey, WA it was close to my brothers house and who can pass up Sushi:)). As we entered we were seated immediately as a party of 5 so that was nice:)) Our waitress was immediately took our drink orders and explained the menu and specials to us which was great. Lets fast forward to after we ordered our food. It took FOREVER for our food to come let alone by the time our food came our drinks had already been waiting to be refilled.. Currently on the look for great sushi... found this place close to home and the happy hour menu was pretty impressive with 3 rolls for $33! The vibe was very casual and relaxed, kind of felt like we were in a bar more than a sushi restaurant. The service was fast and friendly and we were seated immediately. Food came out quickly and was well played and appetizing. I will say, for the area, it's not bad but still lacking something. Considering we are so close to water I am expecting super fresh sushi options and this place offered lots of options but the flavor fell just a little short. Overall, not bad. Had to reject the one role we ordered back because it sat on the ready line for almost 20 minutes, watched a server carry water to a table with one water tucked under her arm close to her arm pit. Have not dined in, but the takeout I just got was disgusting. Had to throw out half the sushi roll as the scallops smelled and tasted fishy. The tempura vegetables were tiny and sad. Noticed those that had been seated after us were also NOT getting their food in a timely manner. Now the sushi was really good. I had the volcano. Food is Bomb!! Normally I sit in the bar and usually it's later in the day. Today it's 13:00pm and about 5 tables in the whole joint. Dude in the bar spaced half my order. Zero appetizers. At least I got my rolls. Which is always on point. The problem with this place is the service. It's hit or miss. As you can see from the reviews. If you're lucky you will get the brunette in the bar. Thank you Ty for inviting us back. Our first visit a month ago was not good. Today service was excellent and the food was Excellent. The Soft shell crab was awesome and the Shishito peppers were nice and crispy. Didnt take long for the appetizer to arrive. The food came pretty steady when ordered. Sashimi plate had large pieces of fresh salmon, tuna and yellowtail. Salmon skin roll was very good along with the monster roll. Nigiri Eel was good. Last but not least was the Soft Shell crab roll, pretty good but took a bit long to arrive to the table. Overall a great lunch. Trappers started out in a small, rundown, old converted house on 6th Ave in Tacoma. And they were the best. Fresh, funky, great service by the og owner and his family. You truly couldn't ask for more. Then they went corporate and expanded to several locations, all in strip mall type settings with some professionally designed layouts and whatnot. And that's where it went downhill. It's not had, don't get me wrong, but it's not the trappers many of us came to love back in the day. I almost feel bad for making the comparison, but they're the ones that stuck with the name. This location is like the rest. Cold, basic service, good but not special rolls and basic levels of cleanliness (some part of the floor is always sticky at a trappers now, this time it was the bathroom). Their rolls are good, we like the trump the best, and their service is pretty quick. Is it amazing sushi? No. Is it better than most chain like or strip mall sushi? Yes. Do I want to give them one star because they are not the classic trappers? Also yes. But again, that feels unfair. Sort of. read more

Interesting menu. It seems to stray a bit from real sushi, but presentation is awesome. We had a great server, she was friendly and helpful. We had gyoza, which was fine; kinda unremarkable. The sashimi appetizer was awesome. We had rainbow, Timmy, phoenix, and mountain rolls. They were pretty good. Finished with the mochi flight and it was yummy. Overall it was fine. We just ordered sushi to go from this restaurant, and we got no wasabi with our order. The sashimi was smaller than the photo on their website. Soup is not included and there is no option for sushi rice, only hot rice. We will not order from this restaurant again, because for the price (which is expensive) it's not worth it. read more

I like this location a ton better than the one in Tukwila. Both have very weird, disinterested people serving food, but at least this one's food is better and they have an all you can eat bar on Sunday which I'll have to try next time. We got a quartet of rolls and we were full, but it's good not great. I prefer Lacey's Koibito to this place, but this place was okay. Lots of seating for the Sunday crowd and I actually had fun watching a couple of lawyers on a public affairs show on the tv at the bar giving out legal advice. It lead into a football game, but it was kinda refreshing to see local programming. For that, I'll come back, hoping to give them another star for that AYC bar. read more

Moving from Hawaii, we were hoping to find a place with good sushi. We came here and were pleasantly surprised with what they had to offer. There are so many different varieties of rolls, and all but one that I've tried has been great. Their happy hour is pretty good as well if you can eat more than 3 rolls. One of the waitresses remembers us since we were constantly going so she always made sure to take care of us. You can either sit at the bar or at the regularly seating. Came in here and was eventually greeted by the hostess. She sat us in the bar area and gave us menus. We sat there for 20 minutes. Nooooo one came to help us or take a drink order or anything. So my wife and I just eventually walked out. Could see a few others around us that you could tell were just getting horrrrrrrrrible service too. The blonde bartender and hostess seem like they haven't smiled since Bill Clinton was in office. Their body language and face just screamed that they were either over it or just awful workers. Either or both could be true. Not sure how the food or drinks are unfortunately but the service is -100 stars. Do better or quit and find a job you at least try at. read more

Stopped by Trapper's on a weekday for a Team dinner reservation. We were a party of approx 12 and we were promptly seated. We ordered the shrimp tempura, veggie tempura and fried calamari for starters and ordered the Trump, Samantha, Rock & Roll, Phoenix and a few veggie rolls of which I remember Cryssi. Out of all the rolls we had here the BEST was the veggie roll - Cryssi. It was great and had amazing flavors. Imagine coming to a sushi restaurant wanting to eat some good fish and liking the veggie sushi roll? Speaks volumes right? I honestly did not enjoy any of the rolls except for the Trump which was okayish good and the veggie roll - Cryssi the best we had that night. The shrimp tempura was amazing and the shrimp would just melt in my mouth it was that delicious. The rest of the rolls did not taste fresh, the sauce did not add any flavor and they were all so meh. The fried calamari was okay and the veggie tempura lacked seasoning. We ordered plenty of drinks too and the drinks were too sweet and did not taste alcoholic to me either. The sake was also okay. Service was super slow. We walked in at 4:45 PM and walked out around 7:20PM and ended up eating for maybe 30-45 mins this entire time while the rest was spent in waiting for our food to arrive. All in all I have had way better sushi else where and I would not recommend this place. I had a terrible experience and the same was shared by my colleagues as well. read more

I love the sushi here I've had it many times and I haven't ever had a bad sushi sometimes it does take a bit but you can't rush perfection

The sushi is okay- but extremely overpriced in my opinion. They don't have eel sauce ?? Very weird for a sushi restaurant to not have eel sauce- love to dip my rolls in spicy Mayo & eel sauce. I will say I prefer my California roll with stick crab meat vs crab salad so I do really like that they offer that here! Ever since we relocated to the west coast I have a difficult time finding California rolls that aren't made with crab salad. Anyways it's ok, not great.
