Thank you to the servers on May 16th around 2pm that was playing an 18+ anime on the tv that first had a full nude bath house scene for over 3 minutes. While having a child with us (7yo) Then once we asked for the tv to be switched she smirked and seemed like it wasn't a big deal. They then changed it to another show that the opening scene was half naked girls with water dripping along bikini lines and exposed breast. Thank you for ruining somewhere we/ our family have gone for birthdays, different celebrations and anniversary's. Then when we expressed our concerns the two servers then giggled and didn't seem to grasp that a (7yo) shouldn't see that because it's literally porn at that point. Really unfortunate. Five stars may seem like a lot, but I'm giving the score based on what Sushi Train is and not some ideal. This review is based on dining in around 1pm on a Friday. - The sushi is better than average. They try to keep each plate under a clear lid, which is a nice touch. - There is a good variety of plates on the belt. Other places I've been usually only offer pieces of rolls and you have to request nigiri separately. Sushi Train had nigiri pieces (salmon, tuna, eel, shrimp) and specialty rolls on the moving belt. This might have just been for the lunch period. - The staff was pleasant and checked on me regularly. read more

I always like coming to this spot when I am in this area of Lacey. It's usually never busy when I go in, the service is fast and the servers are really nice. It's a pretty big area which is nice and the sushi is yummy and you can even pick off the menu to have something made special. I find the food to be very fresh and worth the price. Ok, so I know these places have been around for a while, but I had never been to one. I love the little belt that comes by so you can see the sushi and pick what you like. This is good for me because I can never remember what rolls I like. The young man at the counter was very helpful and explained what the weird red tipped claw looking thing was ( turns out it was clam) prices also were reasonable, I spent about double at trappers and had horrible service 2/3 times I went.... So I think this might be my new sushi spot. The only down side, and why I ranked this 4 star instead of 5 is, the variety was not that great they had multiple of certain kinds, but others only saw once. This is a good place to come when you're craving sushi. The conveyor belt is a fun idea and you can grab what you like as it goes by. Their offerings are mostly California Rolls, this isn't a fancy sushi place, but it tastes freshly made. We also tried the Spicy Salmon Roll and hubs ordered the Spider Roll. Most items had a clear plastic top, although some things didn't, and we left them alone. The place is clean and it's the first sushi lunch in a long time that came in under forty dollars. OMG this is like sushi you'd get in Chinese buffet but with EXPENSIVE prices. You'd be questioning too how long those sushi has been going in train circle. The BASIC sushi you see on train 2-3 pieces for $3-4, one with sauce or topping around $6 for 2 pieces , cookies like $2.25. So I ordered their actual Lacey sushi, it has some bread crumbs tasted stale. Very bad experience overall. It's probably an experience for some kids just to see sushi going. read more

All right... So after 5 years of not eating here, my friend and I (the same one from my 1st review) decided to try this place out again as there aren't many conveyer sushi places around. I want to say that they're under new management because the servers are a lot more attentive and they have a few new exciting additions to the menu. I will say that at times there aren't a lot of options circling the conveyor. That may be a business tactic so that they don't waste food and don't put too much out at one time. It may also entice patrons to try something different if they sit there waiting forever for the one sushi that they like. So after endless rotations of cookies, cookies, cookies, fruit, and a few edamame my friend found several plates that she would enjoy. As you may remember from my prior review, I am a vegetarian. I know, I know! Go ahead and insert whatever commentary you want about a vegetarian in a sushi bar but they actually have a few options for vegetarians. You just have to order off the menu. So we shared 4 avocado rolls and they have a new one called the Princess Poll that has some crispy vegetables wrapped in sushi. What I liked about the Princess Roll was that it wasn't the normal veggies that I see in vegetarian rolls. This roll had like green beans and cream cheese and some other veggies (see picture). I liked the crunch. I'm not sure if some of the veggies were coated in tempura or not but it was really delicious. Also, the last time I went, I tried cloudy sake for the first time. I could honestly say that I could drink sake more regularly as it's really smooth and not as strong in the alcohol department. So we finished off a bottle between the two of us and ate to our heart's content. I like that we weren't rushed and could just sit and chat about life and the future without being bothered with the waiter/waitress bringing the check. The sushi chefs are also really nice too and make excellent sushi in my opinion compared to the guys they had in there before. So, I guess things change with time. Hopefully, this is for the better in the long run but I've got my eye on you. I'm back on the Sushi Train after a long holiday. read more

Overall this is my go to sushi place now whenever I want to go out and eat, uber eats or take out for when I get home for dinner. Their rolls are great and I can't get enough of their nigiri. Now sushi that walk! Having recently moved to Lakewood from Seattle, we were in the mood for some conveyor belt sushi. Sushi Train did not disappoint! Their prices were pretty well inline with the offerings. As others have mentioned, there could have been more options on the belt, but nothing that a request to our friendly server couldn't remedy! There are so many mixed reviews about this place. The menu is so confusing. It's hard to order by the color of the plate since it's almost like a regular menu now that they have. On the conveyor they have almost the exact same thing (California roll), but different toppings and maybe some had cream cheese and maybe a couple of spicy tuna. We ordered chicken katsu, spicy salmon roll, takoyaki and ikura from the server and I grabbed a few plates off the conveyer. I don't think it's dry like some of the reviews, it seems more like everything was cooked tuna to me. Cant go wrong with ikura that's for sure. The takoyaki didn't taste all that great. There is something about that batter that gave it a off taste. The service was great, but I felt it was pricey for the quality and quantity that was given. 3 stars for good service and cleanliness and the katsu was decent. Recommend? Im not sure. I feel like they can probably use the excuse because of Covid to raise their price, but not for the quality of their sushi. Ordered a DoorDash order that originally went to the wrong address. DoorDash was quick and ended up canceling the driver fee, however when I called sushi train they told me that they couldn't refund my order as the food was already made which is understandable. HOWEVER they used my sushi in another order and my sushi rolls that were already made were "no longer available to me and used in another order". To me this doesn't make sense because if it was used in another order then they have 2 orders placed but only one made. Will not be bringing my business back here. read more

The last few times we have been here, we have been less than impressed. I am hoping it just a few off days but I am thinking it might not be......... We came in around 7 and the place was pretty busy - the service was very disjointed - we noticed that several of the sushi plates going around were ones covered in sauce and/or had deep fried stuff in them. We ordered a few rolls from the menu but it was difficult at best to get the servers attention, and then once we ordered, it took a long time to get the roll (over 15 minutes) when the sushi chefs were continuing to make sauce laden rolls for the belt. One of the rolls we ordered was a baked salmon roll - it came out still raw. Yes, I know, I am at a sushi place, but when the mood strikes for baked salmon and that is what I order, that is what I would like. Service is so hit or miss. Somedays you have to flag the waitress down to get a pop or order off the menu and then you are lucky to actually get what you ordered. Other times the service is on point. BUt most often, it is disjointed and sloppy at best. Prices have gone up in the last year. Biggest pet peeve? They have their tv turned on to stations which are absolutely disgusting to watch while eating. The last two times it has been on animal planet where they were doing surgery on animals. UM - not while I am eating! I hope they can keep their prices stable, offer better service, turn disgusting tv off, and better choices of rolls in the future or we will stay on the west side of town. I ordered some chicken yakisoba for my kids and it had a weird smell so i decided to try it and my surprise was that the chicken was BAD!!!! and i asked to get it removed immediately and asked if they had good chicken and they said it was all the same They told me i had to pay for it. The sushi here was okay. Very small potions from what I'm use too. Most sushi had two pieces to a plate or cut real thin. Every thing was covered in mayo. What I really didn't like is the owner(I'm guessing she was the owner) being hella rude to her server in front of the customers. We order sushi from the menu and when he gave her the order, she started berating him. "Do you know what that Sushi is? Can you find it, did you look for it? What is that over there?"
