Love this place! Always so nice to come in here and eat. Great food and a decent price. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either.

Very generous serving on food for lunch. My mom and I stopped by for a quick bite. Absolutely delicious food. The person taking our order was nice. It was our first time. You check the menu out in the front then go to cashier when you're ready to order.

Yakisoba combo with chicken, beef, and shrimp. It's a must try! So good!

We love this place!! Super hidden gem! We always LOVE getting the yakisoba combo. The combo comes with chicken, beef, and shrimp. It is a huge portion! We never finish it, always leftovers for the next day. Tons of yummy veggies with the yakisoba and great taste, always steaming hot. We've got a few of their sushi too. They have a combo sushi, it comes with 3 different ones, all delicious. Made fresh! It's fun to see the sushi maker come out and make it when any sushi is ordered. Great place, friendly staff. A little in the pricy side, but worth it with huge portions.

Great consistent spot for your teriyaki needs. I've been going here for years and find it to be on par with various teriyaki restaurants that dot the PNW. This review is for their beef teriyaki substitute fried rice. Ample amount of food for the money. Beef is flavorful and tender. The fried rice is on point. I love their mayo based salad dressing and always ask for additional. I always order my teriyaki sauce less and add as needed. Dont hesitate to get your teriyaki fix from Souru!!!

This place was really good! Service was quick, less than 15 minutes for my large to go order. Everything was packaged very well. All items were piping hot! The two women behind the counter were incredibly professional and polite. Atmosphere was quaint and clean. I've been going to New Sushi in corporate loop for a few years now, but their food and service has gone down hill. Recently they don't even answer the phone. Or place you on hold for 10+ minutes. And their portions have gotten so small! I couldn't bring myself to go there again. So I tried out Souru Teriyaki. And I was not disappointed! We will definitely be back!

    Cozy cubical spaces.

I finally got to try Katsu Burger with my son earlier this week (weekday afternoon), and I can…read moreconfidently say it lived up to the hype! When I initially walked in, it wasn't too busy, but it filled up quickly while I was still figuring out how to order. They use a kiosk system where you choose dine-in or takeout, and it's nicr that each menu item had photos and ingredient descriptions so it made it way easier to decide, especially for our first visit. The space itself is small and quaint with a couple tables, but full of lovely art. There's lots of cute anime and Japanese-themed decor, including figurines, plushies, and artwork, giving the place such a cozy, cutesy aesthetic. I also noticed they might be hiring, based on the sign at the entrance. I came here because my cousin-in-law (who lives in upper Washington) mentioned the place, and I needed a redemption meal after being disappointed by another chicken spot recently. Katsu Burger definitely delivered! The burgers here aren't your typical American-style burgers. They don't taste as greasy and sub cabbage instead of lettuce, similar to garnish for a tonkatsu plate. And surprisingly, the photos on the kiosk actually match what you get (no false advertising here!). The employee behind the counter was super kind and helped guide us through the ordering process. I don't think they take cash so maybe that's why orders are placed through the kiosk. For food: My son ordered the Tokyo Tower burger as-is, and I tried the Umami Burger with light cabbage (not a huge fan of crunchy water veggies like lettuce/cabbage/etc.). Both were AMAZING. I have heard of tonkatsu but I had no idea what beef katsu was before this. Thought it was just a regular beef patty, but wow.. it was crispy, flavorful, and just overall delicious. We ordered takeout and didn't even get home for about 30 minutes, but the food was still warm enough to enjoy without reheating. Portion-wise, my burger was perfect: filling but manageable (i think i made the right choice with light cabbage). My son's Tokyo Tower was massive (almost too big for him to handle xD), but we both agreed everything tasted incredible. I was tempted to try a bento box, but I knew I wouldn't finish it if I was already ordering a katsu burger. Next time though! My son already has his eye on the enormous Mt. Fuji burger, so we'll definitely be back. Parking is decent, though it can get busy during the day since it's near a gym and other businesses. Overall, if you're in the Lacey area, you HAVE to try this Katsu Burger at least once. It looks like they have about 8 other locations too in the other towns so if you're not in Lacey, there still might be one nearby you. The burgers are absolutely the star of the show :) I'm already looking forward to our next visit!

Asahi Sushi is such a gem in Olympia and honestly gives me hope that there really is good sushi…read morearound here! I've been twice now: once on a date with my husband and another time for a family outing, and both experiences have been fantastic. The prices are fair. I wouldn't call it cheap, but it's definitely not outrageously expensive either, especially for the quality. We usually spend around $100 for two orders of takoyaki and three sushi rolls. I came for the sushi, but apparently I'm staying for the takoyaki and the fantastic service. Seriously, the takoyaki here might be the best I've ever had. They're served at just the right temperature, crispy on the outside, savory, and actually have a good amount of octopus in each ball. My husband agrees, which is why we always end up ordering TWO orders. We can't help ourselves. The sushi itself is delicious and really well balanced. I don't feel like the rolls are overloaded with rice, and every roll we've tried has had a good balance between the fish, sauces, and other ingredients. Nothing feels like it's drowning out everything else. Both times we've visited, the service has also been wonderful. The servers are attentive and friendly, and good service is one of the reasons I enjoy coming back. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, especially around the entrance where you're practically passing right by the chefs. But I actually like the lowkey, humble atmosphere. During the day, it's fairly dim inside with just a sliver of sunlight peeking through, and the neutral tones make it feel cozy without trying too hard to be fancy. My only gripe has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: PARKING. Downtown Olympia parking is such a pain in the neck. You might find yourself circling a few blocks looking for street parking, but Asahi is one of those places where I'll deal with it because the food and service are worth the trip. I've been to plenty of sushi places in California, so after moving to Washington a few months ago, I've been hoping to find a sushi spot here that could compare and that I would actually want to return to. Asahi is definitely that place. It's officially my go-to sushi spot in the area whenever I can afford to treat myself, because if I'm coming here, I'm budgeting enough to try and tip the servers well too. I'll happily keep coming back for my two orders of takoyaki and sushi fix. :)

Reviewing for just the ramen since I haven't tried anything else on their menu…read more My son and I were craving ramen a few weeks ago and we've been trying out different ramen places to compare. We're down the street from Zen and decided to give their ramen a try. Parking is easy to locate but can be a bit crowded since it's in the same lot as Dutch Bros and a couple other shops. When we first entered, we were greeted by an employee (and the Naruto statue at the front hehe). It was fairly empty when we arrived since it was on a Friday around 4ish in the afternoon. You have to pay first when you order. You'll be provided a number placard to place at a table of your choose when you dine in, and your food will be brought to you when it is ready. Drinks are also self-serve (for soda). We decided upon water cups but it's at the same station as the sodas. There is a menu at the cash register for quick ordering if you know what you want (when you walk in, it's on the left). The employee also directed us to a menu with pictures and descriptions of each item (when you walk in, it's on the right). The place definitely has Japanese vibes for the interior decor with its oaky/wooden furniture and warm lighting. Our ramen arrived shortly after we seated ourselves. We both ordered similar spicy ramen, which ended up tasting fairly good. My son really enjoyed his ramen since he liked the level of spiciness and taste of the broth (spicy enough to taste the flavors and feel the heat but not enough to hurt). He also liked that the ingredients were balanced (not an overabundance of just ramen noodles). I did enjoy my ramen as well and shared similar views. My only criticism would be that the ramen options seemed very simplistic and many ingredients were similar, so it didn't feel like much variety. My son and I actually ordered two different kinds of ramen, believe it or not, but from the photos, they look almost identical. There's also only the option of tonkatsu or shoyu broth, regular or spicy. The soft boiled egg was delicious but it would have been nice to receive a full egg instead of just half. They are generous with their chasu portions at least, with its big slices. Not as tender compared to other places I've been to, though, but still tastes good. We enjoyed our experience here though so I can at least say that it's worth trying out the ramen. Not so sure about the sushi burritos but maybe we will consider for next time.
