Menu 6/20/2025
Dan S.

I had been to Happy Teriyaki a few times over the years when I visit Olympia. On a rainy day this visit, we stopped in. Food The menu offers many options. They offer five lunch specials that are much more reasonable priced than their normal menu. I ordered spicy chicken and beef with brown rice and chicken Yakisoba. The lunch special came with soup. The portion size of chicken and beef was enough to make two meals out of it. It tasted good, the yakisoba was ok, and I didn't care for the soup. 3/5 Service The service was a positive. All ordering was done at the counter. Staff were friendly and courteous. They came by once during our meal to refill drinks and cleaned up in a timely manner. 4/5 Ambiance The restaurant is a sizable space and offers a lot of tables for varying sizes for different groups. The decor isn't memorable, but the place was clean. Happy Teriyaki is a solid dining experience. It is not spectacular, but it is steady. The prices are a bit high for what it is, but it is worth checking outs

Spicy Chicken & Gyoza combo.

I love this place. I visited with a friend and was impressed with the sheer size of my meal. The teriyaki chicken was slightly charred just the way I like it. The gyoza I enjoyed in the convoy was excellent too filled with excellent ingredients. It took two days to eat it all and I have to say they have some of the best teriyaki sauce I've had anywhere. The sauce I enjoyed was the thickened/reduced sauce and I will be back for more the next time I'm in the area. I was very happy with the fried rice option instead of steamed rice and it was loaded with tasty morsels. The stir fried vegetables included were also excellent. Overall, I was impressed and look forward to my next visit to the Olympia area for some more.

Love salad. I added the chicken for protein from my sons chicken tender meal

Customer service was awful. I ordered a love salad with chicken via DoorDash. When it was delivered there was no chicken. I called and the gal on the phone was very rude and basically said oh well this is door dash's problem. So dissatisfied!

Sukiyaki is huge! A bunch of vegitables, toufu, beef and soup. Just a bit too salty for asian.

This place is really good. I stop here when I am in the area. The service is always top notch and is only outdone by the wonderful cuisine. You can't go wrong with the chicken and beef.

Not enough rice! Why so stingy with rice portion?? I might as well bring my own rice next time!

The best Teriyaki in Washington State! I wish they had one way up North in the Bellingham area.

The food is ok but the price is a rip off. $31 for a chicken and rib combo? Will never again go back!

100/10 WOW Took a…read moretrip down here prior to flying home to the bay. Intended as a takeout spot. My god the aroma that hits you as soon as you walk through the door takes you to faraway lands. The mixture of curry & coconut milk is just so fragrant you can't mistake it. BBQ Pork Puff: amazing. Think char siu bao but in a PUFF PASTRY. Flaky, warm, sweet, savory. Curry Chicken Puff: amazing amazing. I can't say enough how heavenly the combo of curry & coconut are to me. This says plenty. Also there are potatoes in it. Nasi Lemak: Coconut rice delicious. Chicken was well seasoned and tender enough. Whatever that sauce was hit the spot. Egg mixed in w/ everything gave extra variety in texture. Anchovies crispy and salty but not too salty. Other dishes ordered by my family: Chicken & Rice, Mee Soto Ayam, Ikan Bilis, Veg Fried Rice. I can't speak to the taste but I can tell you that there was a lot of moaning. Don't know if we'll ever visit Olympia again but SOS you have a special place in my heart.

You don't seem many Singaporean place around and our interest was piqued. And I was impressed by the modern looking storefront. On to the review... The Chicken Potato Curry Puff pastry had an amazing filling. My wife and I would eat this alone. The curry flavor had a nice balance with the filling. However, the travel time to our AirBnB in Southbay may have compromised the outer puff pastry part. That was a bit lifeless. I would have liked to have tried this while at the restaurant. The rice in the "Chicken Rice Lunch" had fantastic flavor. However, I don't think the rice was fully cooked though. We definitely had more than a few harder than normal kernels of rice. But kudos to the rice flavoring - even though the rice was not fully cooked, I wanted to finish the rice. And the Chicken Garam Masala was blah. The Garam Masala was way too watery for our liking. The flavor was too diluted. A picture of this dish on their online menu shows a thicker sauce. We didn't finish this dish...

The restaurant is easy to find, located in a plaza with other businesses, so there's plenty of parking available. I also like that their hours are posted in military time; it's a small detail, but it removes any confusion about opening and closing times. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. We arrived around 17:00 on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. Service was friendly from start to finish--menus were brought promptly, and we were asked about drinks right away (water was perfect for us). Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, refilling our water and clearing dishes at just the right times. We started with the agedashi tofu to share. The broth was flavorful and the tofu was prepared well, with that soft, gooey, gelatinous consistency. While it wasn't quite my personal preference (I tend to favor a crispier texture), it was still tasty and likely ideal for those who enjoy it that way. For our main dishes, my son ordered the tonkatsu corn ramen, and I had the black garlic ramen (without bean sprouts--personal preference). This was our first ramen spot since moving to Washington, and it genuinely reminded us of a favorite place we used to visit in Sacramento. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply savory--absolutely delicious. I especially liked that the ramen was served with a ladle instead of a standard soup spoon, which made it easier to sip more of the broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not too firm, not too soft--and paired really well with the toppings. My son even commented on the generous portion of noodles, which I joked was exactly what we signed up for when ordering ramen! We both finished our bowls feeling completely satisfied. The chashu and egg were highlights for me--I took my time consuming them. My only small critique is that I wish the ramen included a full soft-boiled egg instead of just half, especially with bowls averaging around $17. Overall, this was a great dining experience with flavorful food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. While I have a couple of minor preferences, I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for quality ramen in the area.
