Really enjoyed the experience my friend and I had here for an evening dinner. Parking downtown was a built busy but that isn't the restaurant's fault. I like the vibe inside. Our server was very friendly. We got the crab rangoons and I did not like them. They seemed just to be cream cheese, but not much crab, or onion. Wish they would have been better because they looked great. We also got the standard edamame, asahi tower (which I highly recommend), the seared salmon roll, and a tuna roll that I can't remember the name of. The sushi was fresh and very good. It is a bit more price wise, but I really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back.

We went for a very nice lunch special with delicious food, impeccable plating, great vibe, comfortable seating, good sake selection and friendly service. Will go again. Great place to bring guests.

Came for lunch on a weekend. Street parking was pretty easy to find. This is a cozy restaurant in downtown Olympia. There's a sushi bar and booth tables. Service is attentive and friendly. We got 3 rolls and a salad to share. We also got the calamari rings but the squid was tough. The salad was a good portion with tuna and avocado cubes. The seaweed salad on top was nice to integrate into the rest of the greens. The rolls were very tasty. The fish tasted fresh. The presentation was nice, too! Price was pretty standard for average sushi places nowadays. Including a large hot sake, we spent $100 for lunch for two adults.

The bluefin Hawaiian roll touched my soul! Haha but seriously it's my favorite sushi roll I've ever had. The mango drizzle is stunning and delicious. Ambiance of this place is calming and perfect for an evening out. Service was on point. Easy 5 stars from me.

The last time I was here it was in 2021, and I almost forgot this place, but thanks to Yelp's recommendations, it reminded me of this nice place. This place deserves a fresh comment This place gets 5 stars due to the exceptionally fresh food taste. There are very few sushi places that make good sushi, and the ingredients are fresh. The server Mira is exceptional, friendly, and attentive. Ambiance is casual and family oriented, and a clean establishment. I would recommend everyone who enjoys sushi to come here and enjoy the food and Mira's friendliness while she takes your order and serves you as if you are family.

We came here because we wanted to walk around downtown afterwards, and oh my. Starting off, it was really quiet. Low music and lighting, friendly staff, and a very calm atmosphere. Food, fantastic. I got the Olympia roll, and my mother got the tuna poke salad. My roll was not only delicious, it tasted fresh and looked so cute! My mother highly enjoyed her salad as well. We also got the Avocado bomb, which was creamy yet crunchy, and really flavorful! Overall, 10/10 will be here again. Heads up, it is a little pricey ( a couple of bucks more) but that's due to the really good quality of the ingredients.

Our waitress recommended the box of bluefin tuna and it was great. Very fresh and quite the variety on tuna from lean to fatty. The spicy shrimp skewers bento was good too. Both plates had nice presentation.

A gorgeous presentation of delectable sushi delights. Absolutely delicious. I had to take pictures, our plates were so pretty. Outstanding service. Very clean. Staff is professional, courteous and prompt. A must try, you will keep going back if you do!

1 person sashimi plate + sunomono With Octopus

If you are from local, or you are like me, don't care "contemporary" style and looking look for more authentic Japanese food. Please consider Asahi Sushi. (This place is so far my favorite in Olympia/ Lacey areas) From my observation, I guess the owner/ sushi chefs and kitchen chefs are either Korean or trained in Korean way. But don't take the idea wrong. If you go to Korean owned Japanese sashimi places, their sashimi are always good quality with thick pieces. I ordered 1 person / small sashimi order, it came out really good. I had 100% satisfaction. I also ordered Hamachi Kama (grilled yellowtail collar), it came out good, as well, just the presentation is different from Japanese style, but again, it didn't matter, because the quality and quantity were all good. Got chicken Karaage for my kiddo, but it didn't taste like regular chicken karaage, and we ended up packing it home. I enjoyed Takosu (octopus salad), but the restaurant named "sunomono with octopus". It came out really sunomono with 3 pieces of octopus. I shouldn't complain, but the salad/ cucumbers were not even sunomono. It was vinegar dressing, I guess. Little disappointed. Overall, the food quality is good. If you are craving sashimis like I did, please try Asahi Sushi's sashimi platers, you will think it's worthy. One thing sounds odd to me. When I ordered regular sashimi plate, it came out with Miso soup. Funny thing is, I didn't see tofu or wakame seaweeds in the soup. The waitresses ( I couldn't believe and checked with 2 waitresses) told me with tofu only for to-go miso soup. But WHY?? To-go doesn't have to pay tips, but I PAID TIPS WHEN DINING IN. No clue about the idea, but miso soup with only white miso flavor with a few green onions were floating on the surface, I don't really understand. Parking can be difficult in downtown Olympia. You'd better reserve at least 1.25 hours of parking during lunch time. And thanks sushi chefs for the yummy raw fishes. (Will update in the future for more dishes)

Best Japanese in Olympia! From the moment I stepped in we were greeted and seated quickly. The seating was comfortable and we were given waters immediately. We had the chicken teriyaki and gyoza lunch special and still had leftovers! Overall the best dining experience I've had in downtown. We will be back soon!

I gave this place a 4 stars and that's just me being particular about service. The service was average, but the food was amazing. For appetizers we tried the cannon ball which was cooked to perfection and tasted fresh and crispy. I am not a mushroom person but this appetizer was delicious. Th Rolls were made with fresh ingredients and passion. Nice tight roll and bursting with flavor. The flavors really stimulated the taste buds and the freshness and texture of the rolls really made this one of my favorite sushi rolls. It's a small and cozy place with the perfect ambiance. It really gives the local restaurant feels. It's truly a great experience in Olympia WA.

A friend of mine went through multiple countries in Asia, including Japan and Tokyo, and told me the sushi at Kamakura was actually BETTER than any he had on his trip through Asia. The staff is absolutely amazing every time I've been there. They are kind, quick, and attentive. I have seen this small restaurant transform through remodeling from a cute little place to enjoy sushi to a true atmosphere where you feel like you're getting a luxury dining experience. To give some tips on my favorite rolls, the Las Vegas roll (while it has gotten a bit smaller since years ago) is such a unique and delicious roll ESPECIALLY if you like a creamy warm roll. For those who do not like cream cheese or avocado on their rolls, I HAVE to recommend one of the latest additions to their menu, the Unagi Lover. This roll has such a great combination of flavors, and the unagi on top is excellent.

I consider myself a bit of a sushi connoisseur (my husband just calls me "bougie" lol), so I figured we'd give this place a try since it was convenient and a sushi place for me to try. When we walked in, it was completely empty and there was a sign up at the entrance mentioning they were hiring servers. The restaurant seemed spacious but maybe it felt that way because all the tables were unoccupied. It took a few seconds before someone came out, but the girl who helped us ended up being the only saving grace of the entire experience. She was super sweet, told us we could sit anywhere, brought menus right away, and was on top of everything: drinks, appetizer, sushi, clearing plates. She was honestly the only person we interacted with the whole time. I did end up going to the register to pay after our meal, since she got busy once more people came in, but she handled everything she could really well. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the service. It was simply mediocre. The shrimp tempura tasted undercooked (I could still taste the batter smh). My husband got the Red Dragon roll and I got the Big Mike. He asked for no cucumber and they were accommodating. Regarding portion sizes, they're generous, and I can see how that might appeal to the general palate. I like that the rolls were cut nicely too, where the rolls were a little thinner than your standard piece, so they were easy to eat. The torched salmon and eel were probably the best parts of what I ordered. But overall, the quality felt pretty average. The rice was lacking flavor and kind of just tasted like plain filler. Our total came out to about $57 before tip, and honestly, it didn't feel worth it. Most rolls averaged $19, but they tasted more like something you'd expect at a cheaper spot. I've had similar sushi before that I'd consider more of a budget option (not amazing, but decent for the price). This sushi was passable but tasted more like $15 for a roll.. Just subpar for my standards. I think what made it more disappointing is that when I go out for sushi, I am expecting something better than what I could make at home (and yes, I have made sushi before with sashimi-grade fish, sushi rice, etc.). It is convenient to have someone cook for you, and good sushi is supposed to feel like an extraordinary experience. That's why I dine out at sushi restaurants but this just didn't hit the spot. Overall, amazing service, but the food was pretty underwhelming for the price.

The restaurant is easy to find, located in a plaza with other businesses, so there's plenty of parking available. I also like that their hours are posted in military time; it's a small detail, but it removes any confusion about opening and closing times. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. We arrived around 17:00 on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. Service was friendly from start to finish--menus were brought promptly, and we were asked about drinks right away (water was perfect for us). Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, refilling our water and clearing dishes at just the right times. We started with the agedashi tofu to share. The broth was flavorful and the tofu was prepared well, with that soft, gooey, gelatinous consistency. While it wasn't quite my personal preference (I tend to favor a crispier texture), it was still tasty and likely ideal for those who enjoy it that way. For our main dishes, my son ordered the tonkatsu corn ramen, and I had the black garlic ramen (without bean sprouts--personal preference). This was our first ramen spot since moving to Washington, and it genuinely reminded us of a favorite place we used to visit in Sacramento. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply savory--absolutely delicious. I especially liked that the ramen was served with a ladle instead of a standard soup spoon, which made it easier to sip more of the broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not too firm, not too soft--and paired really well with the toppings. My son even commented on the generous portion of noodles, which I joked was exactly what we signed up for when ordering ramen! We both finished our bowls feeling completely satisfied. The chashu and egg were highlights for me--I took my time consuming them. My only small critique is that I wish the ramen included a full soft-boiled egg instead of just half, especially with bowls averaging around $17. Overall, this was a great dining experience with flavorful food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. While I have a couple of minor preferences, I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for quality ramen in the area.
