We came here on a whim after finding out the original spot we were going to eat at was closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. The food was great - so good that after the appetizer alone, we were already talking about coming back. I ordered the Pad Talay, which was heart and flavorful, the veggies and seafood were cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the Vietnamese Noodle Salad and enjoyed it. We also tried the crab rangoons, which they had their own unique recipe and was such a great surprise to an app we already love. The staff was very nice and attentive, checking in on us throughout the night. The ambiance was lovely and the restaurant was filled with everyone chattering. Restaurant was clean and neat. It was well staffed. The lunch time food came in a timely manner. Probably asked three too many times if everything was okay. The generous portions of the entrees did not make up for the lack of quality and taste. The menu did not offer anything under $20 for lunch.. So so... Great value, great food! There were 3 of us and we ate family style. Appetizers were fresh rolls. Two rolls with pork and shrimp with a house made hoisin sauce. Very good! Chicken satay were two skewers and a house made peanut sauce. The chicken was just okay but the sauce was a banger! We could swim in a pool of their peanut sauce. We ordered entrees of Panang Curry with beef, Mi Quang, and Pad See Ew with tofu. The curry and the Pad See Ew were amazing!!! Plenty of goodies (meats, tofu, and veggies) and flavorful sauces! The Mi Quang was decent but mixing the Vietnamese with the Thai didn't work for us. Service was great. Well lit great casual dining. Enjoy! I know we did. read more

I've been to just about every restaurant that has occupied this space over the last 7 or so years, and I had high hopes for Red Lantern. Well, I finally had a chance to stop in. First, the service was very friendly. We were seated immediately. It's a cute spot, and it looks like a lot of the seating arrangements were carried over from the previous restaurants. That's ok, it felt kind of familiar. Anyway, we ordered a good variety of dishes, two appetizers and two entrees, for sharing. The food was strictly OK - not horrible but not great either. Noodles were kind of overcooked, and there was not a lot of seasoning or spice (we ordered 3 stars for heat and could barely tell). Again, totally edible and somewhat tasty, but nothing to write home about. Prices seemed a bit high for the amount of food we got, and I wouldn't call it a great value by any stretch. I think there are other places in the immediate neighborhood that serve up a little more bang for the buck. It's a shame too, as I was hoping my first visit wouldn't be my last, but maybe I'll try it again sometime in the future. read more

Our new favorite spot! We started off with the summer rolls and crab & shrimp rolls. Both were very fresh and tasty. I usually get pho everywhere I go but I heard everyone raving about the mi quang so I ordered it myself and WOW is all I can say. There was so much flavor and it was such a unique flavor as well. I was full but I couldn't stop eating it. My husband got the heavenly beef which came with rice and he loved it as well. Such a win when we love everything we order! The servers were very kind and attentive too. We loved how cozy it is in there and that they were playing r&b. We can't wait to come back and try more dishes! read more

4 of us shared four dishes: spring roles, Rama with chicken, noodles with pork, larb with tofu. We loved all the dishes but esp the Rama and the larb. Very reasonable prices. We averages $20 each before tip. Nice service, fast, very fresh and hot. We got medium hot and it perfect. We all highly recommend. We had six different dishes and all were AMAZINGLY delicious!! The service was fantastic and the ambience was lovely.

Tried noodle and rice entrees and they were very bland. They don't believe in salt. Admittedly, I asked for the mild version of the dishes, but even mild versions should come with some kind of seasoning. Tried the honey chicken wings and it wasn't sweet at all. If anything, it had more of a savory taste to it. The crab and shrimp rolls had a very interesting texture made from a paper thin rice wrapper, but it's wrapped a couple of times and there's not enough seafood interior to it to give it anything but a cracker-like taste. One of my favorite places to get Asian food; so happy they have expanded to Olympia! We went for their grand opening and couldn't been more impressed! The food was amazing, we got crab lagoons, egg rolls, almonds crusted chicken (my all time favorite dish), heavenly beed (also a favorite), pad thai, mi quang, and pho. Everything was excellent! Red lantern Asian fusion restaurant is finally OPEN in Olympia downtown! Being a big fan ever since the owners opened their first restaurant in Yelm in 2018, I went to this new location yesterday for lunch and dinner with family and friends. We tried most of their signature dishes and everything tasted wonderful. One special addition to their menu is the pho noodle soup with beef ribs which is super delicious and in generous portion size. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. Their interior design is sleek with an inviting atmosphere, clean, and seating is comfortable. By the way, the same owners also own the Kawaii Donut business so very soon we will be able to get the yummy Kawaii donuts from this location too! Looking forward to it! read more

I discerned from the menu that the Asian Fusion in this new restaurant's name means collecting the greatest hits of Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine. So, there's chicken satay and pad thai, fried rice and Mongolian beef, and Singaporean noodles. (Interestingly, I didn't see any carryover from the Japanese izakaya that used to occupy this space.) My favorite dish was the Tom Yum soup, which had a flavorful broth enriched with coconut milk and lots of vegetables. The Vietnamese noodle salad was also quite respectable. Normally, I'm a fan of Thai iced tea, but I advise against ordering that drink here. It was made on the fancy bubble tea production line and came in a sealed, single-serve plastic go-cup. The machinery and wasteful packaging inflated the drink's price to $7. Sad. Overall, the service was friendly and the portions generous. You will likely leave with tasty leftovers. read more
