Aka Shiro Roll, Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Roll, Caterpillar Roll

Our new go-to sushi spot. Caterpillar roll and salmon sashimi is my usual order at any sushi spot. It's my personal deciding factor for quality and flavor. This place has it. Presentation was excellent, service and ambiance were great too! We'll definitely be back.

Tempura...light batter, delicious veg and shrimp!

Ordered sushi and tempura for take-out and it was absolutely incredible. Just as good as the sushi you'd receive as a customer seated at the sushi bar. Hands down the best sushi on the west side of Olympia, and arguably all of Thurston County!

Went here for lunch with my coworkers for the first time and this place was AMAZING! As a sushi lover, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food prepared for us, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff and the cleanliness and aesthetic of the restaurant. There wasn't a line so we were seated immediately. Our waitress was very prompt yet very patient with us as we ordered; there was also another man who helped on the floor who was equally kind and attentive. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and we appreciated the freshness and presentation of everything. My boss and coworker had ordered rolls that came with these cute looking "volcanoes" with a smoke effect. Definitely enjoyed our time here, I'd love to return here again and next time with my husband for a lunch/dinner date!

Superb sushi at Aya Sushi! The menu is extensive with lots of appetizers, rolls, sashimi, noodles, and desserts. They first serve you a small bowl of miso soup, then we added edemame. I got the Crunchy Roll, cuz anything with tempura shrimp is gonna be on my order. It was nicely spicy but the pieces were a lot bigger than the traditional size. I had to cut each one in half. Everything was delicious though. Especially the strawberry Mochi Ice Cream. It's a must!

Terrific spot. Fresh vibrant sushi, and the menu is extensive. Definitely ordered too much, but had to sample a bunch of rolls. Their miso soup is warm and comforting. The staff are friendly, the service is great, and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back when in town.

Chirqshizushi. 3 kind of fishes and seaweed salad. Don't spend $23.95 on it, not worthy

Service:0* Food: *** The server wasn't attentive, and chirashizushi was boring. I was quite disappointed. Waiting for taking the order about 8 mins just right after 11:30 am. When I was done eating, raised my hands for the bill, the servers enjoyed chatting too much and forgot to look around the dining area. I suddenly became noticeable after my server finished taking 2 tables' orders. But my meal was done before the 2 tables's customers came though. When I left, there were only 3 tables were occupied. I wonder how busy they could be to check their customers even though just stopped by to ask "how everything goes?".

Yellowtail hand roll. Poor quality fish in it.
    Lauren L.

Not sure if it was because I did a pickup order but the fish in my hand roll was of obviously poor quality, almost every piece. It was scaly, dark red, tough and stringy.

The Food IS and has always been amazing here. the new staff is a huge improvement, considering the old staff was rude and unprofessional. I got the Nigiri Bento Box.

Fabulous sushi. Generous portions of fish. We used to be trappers lovers, but will make the 50 minute drive time and time again to eat at Aya. Each roll is well thought out, and favors come together amazingly. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful presentation of the Chirashi Donburi They included great wasabi, Gluten free options, and gave us free miso soup with our meal. Very kind waitress that helped us and checked in often. Peaceful environment

The interior feels refined and stylish, with soft lighting and purple accents that give it a calm, upscale vibe. Service was genuinely kind, attentive, and well-timed. The miso soup was deep in flavor, the seaweed salad fresh and nicely plated. The Baked Salmon Roll and Olympian Roll really stood out -- fresh fish, balanced flavors, and beautiful presentation. If you're driving through Olympia, it's absolutely worth a stop.

Sitting there to eat would probably be awkward with every patron passing behind you. We got the Paradise and the Hurricane rolls. The Paradise was good, but the Hurricane won hands down. Sweet and savory, crunchy and creamy, with a touch of spiciness, this was the complete package. Highly recommend. The bathroom is outside of the restaurant through a winding corridor of backrooms. It's unsettling, and then the restroom itself is lit in a sickly yellow. One of the motion-sensing faucets had its motion-sensor ripped out, and the sink drain looked like it had been dissolved in acid. Kinda weird!

I consider myself a bit of a sushi connoisseur (my husband just calls me "bougie" lol), so I figured we'd give this place a try since it was convenient and a sushi place for me to try. When we walked in, it was completely empty and there was a sign up at the entrance mentioning they were hiring servers. The restaurant seemed spacious but maybe it felt that way because all the tables were unoccupied. It took a few seconds before someone came out, but the girl who helped us ended up being the only saving grace of the entire experience. She was super sweet, told us we could sit anywhere, brought menus right away, and was on top of everything: drinks, appetizer, sushi, clearing plates. She was honestly the only person we interacted with the whole time. I did end up going to the register to pay after our meal, since she got busy once more people came in, but she handled everything she could really well. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the service. It was simply mediocre. The shrimp tempura tasted undercooked (I could still taste the batter smh). My husband got the Red Dragon roll and I got the Big Mike. He asked for no cucumber and they were accommodating. Regarding portion sizes, they're generous, and I can see how that might appeal to the general palate. I like that the rolls were cut nicely too, where the rolls were a little thinner than your standard piece, so they were easy to eat. The torched salmon and eel were probably the best parts of what I ordered. But overall, the quality felt pretty average. The rice was lacking flavor and kind of just tasted like plain filler. Our total came out to about $57 before tip, and honestly, it didn't feel worth it. Most rolls averaged $19, but they tasted more like something you'd expect at a cheaper spot. I've had similar sushi before that I'd consider more of a budget option (not amazing, but decent for the price). This sushi was passable but tasted more like $15 for a roll.. Just subpar for my standards. I think what made it more disappointing is that when I go out for sushi, I am expecting something better than what I could make at home (and yes, I have made sushi before with sashimi-grade fish, sushi rice, etc.). It is convenient to have someone cook for you, and good sushi is supposed to feel like an extraordinary experience. That's why I dine out at sushi restaurants but this just didn't hit the spot. Overall, amazing service, but the food was pretty underwhelming for the price.

The food is fine but nothing that made me think, "Yes, we're coming back." There were a few patrons there, but it must have been a restocking day or something because some of their supplies were spilling out of the kitchen into the dining areas, so it wasn't a great vibe. I did like how they were playing regional programming on the TVs so we had something to look at as we ate, but on the whole, it might be better on the weekends when people are filling the restaurant and bringing the energy up.

The restaurant is easy to find, located in a plaza with other businesses, so there's plenty of parking available. I also like that their hours are posted in military time; it's a small detail, but it removes any confusion about opening and closing times. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. We arrived around 17:00 on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. Service was friendly from start to finish--menus were brought promptly, and we were asked about drinks right away (water was perfect for us). Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, refilling our water and clearing dishes at just the right times. We started with the agedashi tofu to share. The broth was flavorful and the tofu was prepared well, with that soft, gooey, gelatinous consistency. While it wasn't quite my personal preference (I tend to favor a crispier texture), it was still tasty and likely ideal for those who enjoy it that way. For our main dishes, my son ordered the tonkatsu corn ramen, and I had the black garlic ramen (without bean sprouts--personal preference). This was our first ramen spot since moving to Washington, and it genuinely reminded us of a favorite place we used to visit in Sacramento. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply savory--absolutely delicious. I especially liked that the ramen was served with a ladle instead of a standard soup spoon, which made it easier to sip more of the broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not too firm, not too soft--and paired really well with the toppings. My son even commented on the generous portion of noodles, which I joked was exactly what we signed up for when ordering ramen! We both finished our bowls feeling completely satisfied. The chashu and egg were highlights for me--I took my time consuming them. My only small critique is that I wish the ramen included a full soft-boiled egg instead of just half, especially with bowls averaging around $17. Overall, this was a great dining experience with flavorful food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. While I have a couple of minor preferences, I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for quality ramen in the area.
