Made an order to go today. Began eating and then I felt something harder than noodle... pulled a rubber band from my mouth just now.... With a rubbery taste.... Never again...

I don't get Happy Teriyaki often so it's been a few years but I was really impressed with my food here! I got a combo plate with teriyaki chicken and hot chicken as well as a spicy tofu bowl. Loved that spicy tofu! Nice spicy level with the semi firm tofu bites that had a nice squishy texture. The hot chicken was super good too. I think they may have used a different kind of spicy/hot sauce for the chicken but it was great! And it's hard to say anything bad about teriyaki chicken. Pretty much every chicken piece was cut thick and long and you got LOTS of chicken. I only ate about half my meal so that gave me another dinner for the following day. My party arrived around 4pm and it wasn't busy at all but our waiter seemed to forget about bringing water to the other 5 people we had sitting down(we had 9 people total). My sister asked for extra teriyaki sauce for her meal but that didn't come either. Since my dad prefers Panda Express we tend to get that more often but I think I prefer this spot more. The meals seemed more flavorful and bigger while still maintaining a good price point. Yum!

Not bad, not bad at all! I had the "lunch specials" Beef and chicken teriyaki with veggies, steamed rice and miso soup. It was delicious! Not bad for $11.25! I'll be back for sure! Very clean inside and very good service :)

I come to Olympia pretty often for work so I tried a lot of food and this place is probably the most decently priced teriyaki for the mid quality food that it is. But the one thing about this place is that the customer service is atrocious. This is probably the third or fourth time and every time I brace myself for awful customer service. The worst part is that this place charges for hot sauce that's not even Sriracha It's a housemade sauce which means that the cost is even cheaper. Just to put in perspective when I had a question both the people working at the front desk had their backs turned as they were looking at pictures on one of their phones. It took a couple of excuse me's for them to want to help their customer. Then when I asked for hot sauce She told me that she would give me one for free because they normally charge for them. I asked how much for more because I had a dollar bill and she said I think 39 cents so instead of giving me two more she gave me one more and charged me for the original one that she gave to me for free.

Good food, quiet atmosphere although the prices seem a lot higher than they used to be. Service is rarely anything other than good or great.

Katsu Burger

I finally got to try Katsu Burger with my son earlier this week (weekday afternoon), and I can…read moreconfidently say it lived up to the hype! When I initially walked in, it wasn't too busy, but it filled up quickly while I was still figuring out how to order. They use a kiosk system where you choose dine-in or takeout, and it's nicr that each menu item had photos and ingredient descriptions so it made it way easier to decide, especially for our first visit. The space itself is small and quaint with a couple tables, but full of lovely art. There's lots of cute anime and Japanese-themed decor, including figurines, plushies, and artwork, giving the place such a cozy, cutesy aesthetic. I also noticed they might be hiring, based on the sign at the entrance. I came here because my cousin-in-law (who lives in upper Washington) mentioned the place, and I needed a redemption meal after being disappointed by another chicken spot recently. Katsu Burger definitely delivered! The burgers here aren't your typical American-style burgers. They don't taste as greasy and sub cabbage instead of lettuce, similar to garnish for a tonkatsu plate. And surprisingly, the photos on the kiosk actually match what you get (no false advertising here!). The employee behind the counter was super kind and helped guide us through the ordering process. I don't think they take cash so maybe that's why orders are placed through the kiosk. For food: My son ordered the Tokyo Tower burger as-is, and I tried the Umami Burger with light cabbage (not a huge fan of crunchy water veggies like lettuce/cabbage/etc.). Both were AMAZING. I have heard of tonkatsu but I had no idea what beef katsu was before this. Thought it was just a regular beef patty, but wow.. it was crispy, flavorful, and just overall delicious. We ordered takeout and didn't even get home for about 30 minutes, but the food was still warm enough to enjoy without reheating. Portion-wise, my burger was perfect: filling but manageable (i think i made the right choice with light cabbage). My son's Tokyo Tower was massive (almost too big for him to handle xD), but we both agreed everything tasted incredible. I was tempted to try a bento box, but I knew I wouldn't finish it if I was already ordering a katsu burger. Next time though! My son already has his eye on the enormous Mt. Fuji burger, so we'll definitely be back. Parking is decent, though it can get busy during the day since it's near a gym and other businesses. Overall, if you're in the Lacey area, you HAVE to try this Katsu Burger at least once. It looks like they have about 8 other locations too in the other towns so if you're not in Lacey, there still might be one nearby you. The burgers are absolutely the star of the show :) I'm already looking forward to our next visit!

I recently moved back to Lacey from Seattle and am glad to see great restaurants from Seattle choosing to open up shop here. I absolutely love burgers, I actually prefer mine no frills and class. But I also love Japanese food--Katsu Burger is the perfect solution when I can't decide between something Asian or a burger for dinner. The Lacey location is at a spot that once served great burgers when I was a kid and was also a Thai joint for a while.

The restaurant is easy to find, located in a plaza with other businesses, so there's plenty of parking available. I also like that their hours are posted in military time; it's a small detail, but it removes any confusion about opening and closing times. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. We arrived around 17:00 on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. Service was friendly from start to finish--menus were brought promptly, and we were asked about drinks right away (water was perfect for us). Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, refilling our water and clearing dishes at just the right times. We started with the agedashi tofu to share. The broth was flavorful and the tofu was prepared well, with that soft, gooey, gelatinous consistency. While it wasn't quite my personal preference (I tend to favor a crispier texture), it was still tasty and likely ideal for those who enjoy it that way. For our main dishes, my son ordered the tonkatsu corn ramen, and I had the black garlic ramen (without bean sprouts--personal preference). This was our first ramen spot since moving to Washington, and it genuinely reminded us of a favorite place we used to visit in Sacramento. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply savory--absolutely delicious. I especially liked that the ramen was served with a ladle instead of a standard soup spoon, which made it easier to sip more of the broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not too firm, not too soft--and paired really well with the toppings. My son even commented on the generous portion of noodles, which I joked was exactly what we signed up for when ordering ramen! We both finished our bowls feeling completely satisfied. The chashu and egg were highlights for me--I took my time consuming them. My only small critique is that I wish the ramen included a full soft-boiled egg instead of just half, especially with bowls averaging around $17. Overall, this was a great dining experience with flavorful food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. While I have a couple of minor preferences, I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for quality ramen in the area.

Reviewing for just the ramen since I haven't tried anything else on their menu…read more My son and I were craving ramen a few weeks ago and we've been trying out different ramen places to compare. We're down the street from Zen and decided to give their ramen a try. Parking is easy to locate but can be a bit crowded since it's in the same lot as Dutch Bros and a couple other shops. When we first entered, we were greeted by an employee (and the Naruto statue at the front hehe). It was fairly empty when we arrived since it was on a Friday around 4ish in the afternoon. You have to pay first when you order. You'll be provided a number placard to place at a table of your choose when you dine in, and your food will be brought to you when it is ready. Drinks are also self-serve (for soda). We decided upon water cups but it's at the same station as the sodas. There is a menu at the cash register for quick ordering if you know what you want (when you walk in, it's on the left). The employee also directed us to a menu with pictures and descriptions of each item (when you walk in, it's on the right). The place definitely has Japanese vibes for the interior decor with its oaky/wooden furniture and warm lighting. Our ramen arrived shortly after we seated ourselves. We both ordered similar spicy ramen, which ended up tasting fairly good. My son really enjoyed his ramen since he liked the level of spiciness and taste of the broth (spicy enough to taste the flavors and feel the heat but not enough to hurt). He also liked that the ingredients were balanced (not an overabundance of just ramen noodles). I did enjoy my ramen as well and shared similar views. My only criticism would be that the ramen options seemed very simplistic and many ingredients were similar, so it didn't feel like much variety. My son and I actually ordered two different kinds of ramen, believe it or not, but from the photos, they look almost identical. There's also only the option of tonkatsu or shoyu broth, regular or spicy. The soft boiled egg was delicious but it would have been nice to receive a full egg instead of just half. They are generous with their chasu portions at least, with its big slices. Not as tender compared to other places I've been to, though, but still tastes good. We enjoyed our experience here though so I can at least say that it's worth trying out the ramen. Not so sure about the sushi burritos but maybe we will consider for next time.

It's unsettling, and then the restroom itself is lit in a sickly yellow. One of the motion-sensing faucets had its motion-sensor ripped out, and the sink drain looked like it had been dissolved in acid. Kinda weird!

The chicken was much thicker than the chicken teriyaki you'd get at Panda Express and while the teriyaki sauce tasted a bit different, I enjoyed it. The meat was moist and tender and so delicious. And the portions were big too. I ended up taking about half of each entree and 3/4 of my steamed veggies and put them in a separate bowl to eat and saved the rest for dinner the following night. While this place might be a little more expensive than Panda, I think the higher quality of the chicken absolutely makes it worth it! Unfortunately, I was looking at an outdated menu on Yelp, so the spicy tofu soup is no longer on the lunch specials, AND if you want a "lunch special," it needs to be specified when placing the order. I assumed that because it was lunch time, I would be paying the lunch pricing? That wasn't the case when I arrived. Parking seems to only be on the same side as the barber shop (which i think is connected to the restaurant as well?). When I walked in, I didn't really check out the place. Seems like a classic no-frills Korean restaurant. An ajumma (아줌마) appeared at the register after a couple seconds (lol that is the first description that came to mind). I informed her of my phone order and she brought out the food and rang me up for around $55? I was thinking, yikes, that's a steep price for a spicy tofu soup and a lunch special of the galbi and mentioned it to her. She told me that the portion made is not the lunch special and next time, make sure to specify that over the phone if I want the Lunch special or dinner portion. She clarified, while acting out the mannerisms, of customers that would complain about the Lunch special, because they would want a dinner portion instead, so she just places general orders as the dinner portion. (I can already imagine the Karens she must have received for her reaction, which is understandable, but at the time, I was just slightly irritated since I was hoping to pay a cheaper price.) I am assuming after this experience, there is a difference in portion size for the lunch and dinner pricing.. Besides the miscommunication, I can at least say that the food was prepared quickly since it was ready by the time I arrived at the restaurant (about 15 mins after I placed the order?). With the outcast weather, I was craving some soondubu, and Seoul Garden definitely delivered! The tofu portions were generous and the broth was the right amount of spicy where you can taste the flavor but it is not overwhelming. I was not expecting so many complementary sides either! They paired very well with the rice and galbi, which was thoroughly marinated in a delectable glaze. Even though I was initially frustrated that I received the dinner portion, I calmed down after eating the galbi. My son and I actually ended up devouring it.. the food was so good, I totally forgot about the pricing at the moment. Just keep in mind though, this place is not advertised as KBBQ, so you're paying for individual plates/dishes/orders that should already be cooked. I would only recommend this restaurant if there are certain staples you really enjoy (i.e. you're only craving bulgogi but don't want to go out to eat or grill it), because it is arguably just as expensive as KBBQ. But if you're a foodie that can afford it, I'd suggest stopping by to try it out yourself! :)
