Best authentic Korean food! I highly recommend the Mandu and Bibimbap. Everything is so fresh and his place never disappoints.

Yummy food but oh so pricey! I ordered takeout through the phone for my first visit because I was interested in the lunch specials that were offered. Unfortunately, I was looking at an outdated menu on Yelp, so the spicy tofu soup is no longer on the lunch specials, AND if you want a "lunch special," it needs to be specified when placing the order. I assumed that because it was lunch time, I would be paying the lunch pricing? That wasn't the case when I arrived. Parking seems to only be on the same side as the barber shop (which i think is connected to the restaurant as well?). When I walked in, I didn't really check out the place. Seems like a classic no-frills Korean restaurant. An ajumma (아줌마) appeared at the register after a couple seconds (lol that is the first description that came to mind). I informed her of my phone order and she brought out the food and rang me up for around $55? I was thinking, yikes, that's a steep price for a spicy tofu soup and a lunch special of the galbi and mentioned it to her. She told me that the portion made is not the lunch special and next time, make sure to specify that over the phone if I want the Lunch special or dinner portion. She clarified, while acting out the mannerisms, of customers that would complain about the Lunch special, because they would want a dinner portion instead, so she just places general orders as the dinner portion. (I can already imagine the Karens she must have received for her reaction, which is understandable, but at the time, I was just slightly irritated since I was hoping to pay a cheaper price.) I am assuming after this experience, there is a difference in portion size for the lunch and dinner pricing.. Besides the miscommunication, I can at least say that the food was prepared quickly since it was ready by the time I arrived at the restaurant (about 15 mins after I placed the order?). With the outcast weather, I was craving some soondubu, and Seoul Garden definitely delivered! The tofu portions were generous and the broth was the right amount of spicy where you can taste the flavor but it is not overwhelming. I was not expecting so many complementary sides either! They paired very well with the rice and galbi, which was thoroughly marinated in a delectable glaze. Even though I was initially frustrated that I received the dinner portion, I calmed down after eating the galbi. My son and I actually ended up devouring it.. the food was so good, I totally forgot about the pricing at the moment. Just keep in mind though, this place is not advertised as KBBQ, so you're paying for individual plates/dishes/orders that should already be cooked. I would only recommend this restaurant if there are certain staples you really enjoy (i.e. you're only craving bulgogi but don't want to go out to eat or grill it), because it is arguably just as expensive as KBBQ. But if you're a foodie that can afford it, I'd suggest stopping by to try it out yourself! :) read more

I'm not impressed. Because I got hustled out of the restaurant before closing time and while I was still eating! And I don't mean that the waitress just brought my check quickly, although she did do that, too. She actually asked me to leave, "So I can go home." It was still 35 minutes before closing time when I got back into my car after packing up most of my food. (8:25 pm. They close at 9.) Which packing I did by myself. She didn't help. She hovered there at my table while I worked, immediately grabbing every dish as I emptied it. It made me so nervous that I accidentally knocked the filled to-go-box off the table while reaching for another plate of food. The box fell upside-down, spilling the still very hot food all over my lap and the floor. So I lost half of my food. And got my blouse, pants, and jacket dirty. And the wasted food was somewhat expensive for a simple Mom-and-Pop kind of place. $20 for one item plus extra for the can of Coke. I do get that all those different vegetables prepared in different ways are a lot of work. I wouldn't have minded the price if the service had been decent and if I actually got to eat all of the food. I'm sure she wouldn't have done that to a couple or a group. Probably not to a solo male diner either. And maybe not to an Asian-looking solo diner (I'm Caucasian.) And I gave her a good tip, too. Before she asked me to leave, obviously. I shouldn't have signed the check before I was finished eating. Lesson learned. I was the only customer, on a Saturday night, and the only car in the customer parking lot. That was a little alarming, even more so on a dark night in a rundown part of town. Besides feeling a little unsafe, I questioned why the place was apparently so unpopular. They had no non-alcoholic drinks on the menu except for 4 or 5 basic brands and flavors of canned soda. Served right in the can with only a straw. No glass or ice. No ice in my water glass either. No tea of any kind, not even canned or bottled. She did offer coffee (which I don't like) after asking me to leave. I guess I was supposed to gulp down boiling hot coffee while I packed up my food. No desserts on the menu, either, nor was I offered any. When I later ate the food from the to-go box, there wasn't a single piece of meat in it. There wasn't much to begin with, and it all must have gone onto the floor. Good thing I don't love meat. I'm glad I made a big mess all over the floor under the table. (But I swear I didn't do it on purpose. She certainly deserved that, but I wanted that food!) The food (I had Bibimbap) was very good. I loved all the different kinds and preparations of vegetables, and the crispy rice crust at the bottom of the stone pot. It was bland though, and no salt or soy sauce was on the table. Maybe on request. I didn't ask, because the server didn't seem to speak English very well. The restaurant does have quite a few interesting kinds of soup and fried rice, as well as bulgogi, that I'd also like to try. If I come again, I'd request tea and soy sauce, and bring my own salt packets just in case. And I'd go very early in the evening. And long before dark. But I'll try K-Kitchen (another Korean restaurant nearby) first. I've never written a restaurant review before. But I joined Yelp to post this one. People considering this restaurant need to hear this story. So should the owners and managers of the place. Although I wonder if my waitress might have been the owner. Because what employee would do that? They'd lose their job! I live in a very small town in a very remote area. Going T o an interesting restaurant like this one is a rare and very special treat for me. And my money is as good, and as hard-earned, as anyone else's. I deserved better. read more

First time stopping by Seoul Garden after wanting to try it for a while. Our group of four was seated quickly and staff was very friendly. The food came out fast and everything was delicious. My must-haves are the beef short ribs (so tender), soft tofu soup, and seafood pancakes. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it for great food and supporting a small restaurant. read more

Quaint, quiet, and quite delicious. I always come here for my spicy pork fix. Any entree you order comes with the requisite sides Korean restaurants are known for. Food was so good with the rice cakes being the right level of soft yet still chewy. Not overpowering with the sauces, especially with the pork meat that my table and I ordered later on in the meal, but not pictured below. We got level 3 spiciness and it was something where it was more due to the flavorful spices rather than the actual scovilles of the sauce, which I love. Service was quick and they did respectful check-ins that did not interrupt flow of the eating and conversing among the table. Not much design going with the place. I feel like a splash of color or even paintings could make the place feel more welcoming and appealing to the eye of passerbys who could look inside. The ambiance is very welcoming and home-feeling. The staff greets you and provides top-notch service as they are quick to answer any questions, provide suggestions when asked, and converse with joy. The food is as delicious as the pictures appear them to be. The side dishes are so yummy, and compliment their main dishes very nicely. During this visit, we ordered the kimchi Soup and a Bimbap. Great kimchi jjigae. Kalbi is a good portion size and tastes great. A lot of kalbi in Tacoma/oly is way too sweet, this place has a balanced flavor. Japchae could use a bit more veggies, but it gets the job done! The service is courteous and quick. The restaurant itself is a bit dated but it's clean and has a few decorations :) I'm a repeat customer and this is definitely the best korean place in Oly area, it could compete well enough in the Tacoma market as well. read more

I'll start off by saying the food is quite pricey. For starters, I got the seafood pancake and it was nicely crisped and full of delicious seafood mixture. As a main I got the gambit ribs and spicy pork. I really wanted pork bone soup but they've discontinued it. Bummer! It would be a hit come winter time... wink wink. The food came out quickly and everything delicious. Service was friendly. The restaurant is set up minimalistic and the ambiance is chill. Overall, it's a place I wouldn't visit very often due to food prices being so high but the location is very close and that convenience is what would keep me coming back. read more

If you love Korean food, this spot is definitely worth it. My family here loves all types of food and trying new places so we made the stop. It's a smaller place and the entire staff are very welcoming once you walk in the door and throughout your visit. Once seated, you receive hot tea. What about the food? Tastebud explosion!!! We started with kimchi pancake $16. It was about the size of a large pizza. It was delish. My little one had the SPAM fried rice $15. She gave it a thumbs up and said it was so yummy. I had the spicy beef fried rice $15. It tastes great and it was just right on the heat level. Yum! The others had the beef short ribs soup $18 and the bibimbap hotpot $16. They both loved theirs too. There are some great options here. The pics speak for themselves. They are closed Sunday and Monday, but do have great lunch specials Tuesday through Friday. Found this gem when we were browsing for Korean food on the web as we were craving it and being new to the state we were kind of hesitant with the location. It's attached to a alterations store that looks like it's been closed down. Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted and seated with our choice of table. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The food also came out within expected time. We ordered the beef short ribs, gamjang tang and mandu for appetizers. We also received banchan which is common when eating Korean food as they're side dishes for the food. All which was flavorful and in our opinion authentic Korean food that did not disappoint. We are definitely adding this restaurant to our list of dining in at as well as suggesting this to friends and family. Also I should add that we have very picky young boys and the food was approved by them. As far as the ambiance it was nice and quiet. We stopped by after a busy weekend to grab dinner before heading home and it was so worth it. This place is a hidden gem for really good authentic Korean food. As soon as we got in we were greeted and was told to choose a table we like. The ambience is quiet and very welcoming. Our waiter was attentive and food came out so quick. We ordered combo meal which came with japchae, fried fish, seafood tofu soup, bulgogi and dumplings. The portions were so perfect. There was 4 of us and we all left satisfied. I walked in, said hello to the elderly woman working there, and sat at a booth at around 5 PM on a Monday. The table was greasy. The place was about 1/4 full. I sat for 30 minutes and was ignored the entire time I was there. She didn't even ask me if I wanted something to drink. After 30 mins, I walked out. She didn't acknowledge that either. It is their first day of business and they're already one of my favorite places in the area. Their kalbi is some of the best. When grilled, it's optimally charred, tender, and nicely caramelized. When in soup form, the meat is still very tender and fatty. The broth is flavorful and a perfect way to warm yourself up on a freezing day. They are very organized in packing our food to go. Everything was stayed neatly in its place and not a drop of soup was spilled. If I must be picky, I would say the food isn't cheap. But food is pricey everywhere now, so why not go to a place I know is good? The people at the counter are sweet and considerate. I wish them the best in their new business. Love this place! They recently opened and I've already been four times. Service is attentive and friendly. They just expanded the parking lot, so no problem there. The food is amazing. So far I've had the beef shortrib soup with cabbage, the kimchi soup (twice) and today the Kalbi Ribs. The soup comes to your table in a heated stone bowl boiling hot, so plan on taking an hour to finish it. But the Kalbi ribs we're my favorite! Sweet and spicy and cooked perfectly. The soup wasn't the best in Washington, but it was one of the best soft tofu soup I could find within the area of Lacey. The spicy pork was also delicious. I just feel like because of inflation and the Covid issue, portions size has decreased significantly. Maybe that is just everywhere. They had a decent amount of side dishes that were okay. Was coming back from Olympic national park going to Seattle. Plain looking place, but super solid on the Korean classics. The variety isn't huge, but what they do they do pretty well. I went with a party of 9 and were accommodated easily. The owner and our server were extremely friendly, personal, and attentive. We ordered the combo b (budae jjigae, la galbi, mandu, jeyuk bokkeum, and japchae), as well as the tteokbokki and haemul pajeon. Was surprised and loved the spicy pork and galbi - flavorful and tender. The rest were pretty run of the mill but solid. Would have liked more seafood in the pajeon and more spam in the army stew, but could be just my personal preference. Kimchi and fish cakes were also pretty good. read more

Ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and Grilled Mackerel. In the Fried Rice there was a curly long black hair fried into rice and shrimp. I videoed pulling the hair out of the rice and presented the video to the restaurant owner the following day as it was late that night. The owner asked why did you not call last night as if I was trying to pull something off . I informed her politely it was late. The male owner in the kitchen said he will cook another dish of shrimp fried rice. after completed he had his waitress bring out the rice in a open container for me to inspect. Instead of a I am sorry we hope this will make things right It was a inspect food and leave. looking into the kitchen no one is equipped with hair nets and or sanitary gloves. I give this restaurant a poor rating due to a health hazard and integrity issue. read more

Seoul is one of my favorite restaurants. We ordered takeout on a Thursday night at 7 pm. We were their last order for the night. We got japchae, spicy pork, and bulgogi. They included additional rice and we still got 12 different options in the banchan! Which was a pleasant surprise to me. Sadly they no longer offer the seafood pancake and a few other items because it's just too cost prohibitive based on the current environment which I understand. The food we were able to get came in huge portions, well seasoned, and fresh. They even included chopsticks, a spoon and napkins for 4-5. It's a great location to support a local business and get excellent Korean food. read more
