Dan Dan Noodles and Sweet & Sour Cucumbers
    Maya A.

Stopped in on a Monday night for an impromptu dinner date and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't crowded like I expected, and we were seated right away. Our hostess walked us through the ordering process, which was super simple. Our server, Oz, was great--really attentive--and the rest of the staff was just as friendly and attentive. The inside was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Prices were decent, especially considering we ordered more than we planned. I'm giving 4 stars because a couple of dishes lacked flavor compared to the others, and I wish the fried rice (not pictured) and the Dan Dan noodles came in larger portions. Recommend: Pork & Crab Xiao Long Bao, Sweet & Sour Cucumbers, and any potsticker with chili oil! Overall, still a solid spot and we'll be back.

Craving soup dumplings and bao buns in Lacey? Then head over to Dough Zone Dumpling House in Hawks Prairie. We stopped in with friends and ordered some of our favorite dishes. Recommendations: (1) Pork Xiao Long Bao (2) Pan Fried Pork Buns (3) Pan Fried Wontons with Chili Sauce (4) Sweet & Sour Cucumber (5) Kale Salad with Sesame Dressing (6) Dan Dan Noodles. So good!

What happened??? I'm stunned. I thought this was gonna be like.. meh. Not everything I tried was my jam, but I'll tell you what I loved: Dan Dan noodles. Lemongrass, umami, magic. Yibin noodles. Heaven in a bowl. Idk what that was but sweet with a tiny heat, umami, magic. Perfectly done- the bite on them is 5 star. The beef pancake thing? Wow. The 5 spice in the meat is new and fantastic. Magic. Dipped in the ginger vinegar with spice? Come on. The banana dessert is the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Perfect chew. Not overly sweet. Better than any banana lumpia I've had. Pricing is competitive and it's a fantastic way to share a meal with friends. Service was on TOP OF IT. fast and friendly waitresses and staff. Would have loved some cream to go with tea, but I'm white, sooo.... Will. Be. Back!!!

We've had our eye on this place for a while. They always seem to have a decent amount of customers around at different times of the day. We went for an early lunch. The menu is fool proof and basically à la cart. You check off what you want and how many. Sometimes they come Out with gold spacing out table got loaded but that not necessarily Bad. A little hard to gauge whether you'd be served fast or not. This is a restaurant that I would call Covid proof. They are a contemporary set up, with minimal interior, digital menu options, take out options. Clean vibes in the decor. Staff is friendly, prompt and efficient. The oil that was used to fry the onion pancake might have been too hot as it made the pancake Tasted a little burnt. This is the only Reason for the one star drop. I look forward to coming back again and I was glad to finally get to eat here.

My rating is more for the front end customer service portion. It is incredibly non personable. The workers up front ignore you basically and have you scan to do a waitlist seating when there are not even people in the restaurant to begin with. Very odd. The restaurant itself is decently sized and it's an open kitchen. You can see everything being cooked in the back. Grant it, it's not Din Thai Fung, but the food didn't have that much flavor. We got a couple different dishes and it was all bland or way too fishy of a taste and smell. I will say Cassandra is AMAZING! She was the best part about this place. She is very kind, very quick, and informative when it came to the menu. I am sure this place may get better, but I will choose to go somewhere else. I am glad I tried it out though!

Ring the bells! Sound the alarm! Shout it from the rooftops! DoZo is AWESOME! In just about two months, I'm already giving them a third review. And all three times Ive been seated at the same exact table! It's as if I'm special!! I ordered some repeat items I knew would not disappoint (Pork Bai, Pork Potstickers), but I tried some new things as well. The spicy beef sandwich was very good, though a little more dough in the bun than I care for. Not their faught, just a personal preference thing. The winna winna chicken dinna came in the form of the 'Sweet and Sour Cucumbers'! This was so worth my visit. Yumm!! My primary server was Olivia who did a great job, but 'Elyza' came over to check on me and close out my check. She's got something special about her customer service. Great attitude, great smile, great service! DoZo, you've earned a loyal customer out of me!

Monday afternoon around12:30 pm. Had no wait. Establishment is clean and really wasn't too loud. Our host explained the ordering process to us, as well as offered explanations as to the menu and even pointed out dishes that had peanuts. We tried several offerings and most were really good. The sweet and sour cucumber is a must. I would recommend using it with the ginger as a palet cleanser in between other items. The pork soup dumplings and chicken and vegetable fried wontons were very good. We also tried steamed chicken dumplings which were good. The Dan Dan noodles were a bit fragrant and at the same time had no depth of flavor. The beef sandwich was something we would absolutely not recommend. We enjoyed the vinegar, soy sauce and chili oil at the table. I do wish they had a spicier oil available. Overall, I'm excited to visit again and try some different menu items. We left stuffed and with a good tip to our sweet server, it was only 62 bucks!!

After two visits, we like a few things on the menu, but there is nothing we LOVE. Service - they are kind but the wait time was awkwardly long for food, even when half the restaurant was empty. We did enjoy the patio space. If you like 5 spice seasoning, order something beef. (Beef potsticker/dumpling and beef hand pies are the exception) We liked the pan friend chicken dumplings both trips. Top recommendation from the 3 in our family and friends as well. Everything else is either has mild flavor, or has 5 spice. (We did not try any spicy options) This last trip my chicken & vegetable wonton soup tasted like something was freezer burnt in that cardboard-esque flavor kind of way. The first trip it was my favorite dish. We did love the Ube milk tea - YUM!

Nice to see the chain make its way to Lacey! Vibe/atmosphere: newly opened in a "newer" strip mall. Clean and that cleanliness was well managed on our visit. But definitely chain vibe. It was busy at 2p on a Sunday! 30 min wait for the two of us...no reservation. The food: Dan Dan Noodles - standard no-frills ramen noodles with average and stereotypical Dan Dan flavor - and only mild spice and very mild Szechwan peppercorn use. No protein source available - so pure carb dish. Modest sized bowl of noodles - think tapas sized. Meh... Pork Wontons in Chili Sauce - petite wontons with nice flavor and again quite mild spice. Steamed then lightly fried on the bottom - well prepared! Pork Bao - excellent flavor and again well prepared - steamed with a quick fry on the bottom! Pork and Crab Soup Dumplings - excellent flavor! Crab flavor does overwhelm the pork flavor tho... but still good! Shrimp and Zucchini Dumplings - such a nice pairing of flavors... the zucchini really shines in tandem with the shrimp! Spicy Ma La Noodles - never had before so no reference to compare to. Tasty... mild spice flavor...but again, nothing to write home about. Food cost us $56.00 Used a gift card purchased at Costco to save a few bucks. Those who read my profile know we typically don't dine at a lot of chain restaurants... but good dim sum is hard to find down in Olympia. Nice addition! We'll be back...just not for noodles.

Food The food was good, everything had good flavor and satisfactory. I would recommend to the restaurant owner to add shaved ice with toppings during the Summer times. Service Elyza was attentive and professional. Busser approached the table and asked if we wanted to get rid of anything to make more room, very professional. Ambience It's loud but tolerable, clean, positive, pretty busy. We will return again.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place, but the experience fell short in several areas. Service: The biggest issue was the lack of actual service. You check in through an app and barely see your server after the initial greeting. Our server never returned to check on us, and different staff members brought out our dishes at completely separate times. We finished one dish before the next even arrived, which made it impossible to enjoy the meal as it was intended. At one point, someone came by to ask if we were ready to check out before we even received the rest of our food. Dirty dishes weren't cleared promptly either. We noticed other tables getting new dishes served next to old ones, and the same happened to us. For a restaurant serving food in stages, it would make sense to clear plates as new dishes come out. Also, there was also no clarity on how to actually pay. After we finished eating, we sat for about 10 minutes waiting for a check that never came. We eventually got up and walked to the front, only to find no one there. It felt like a perfect setup for someone to dine and dash--not our style, but the lack of structure certainly made it easy. Food: The food was inconsistent. - The steamed dumplings were fine. - The soup came out lukewarm, and the broth tasted overwhelmingly like the lettuce in it--bok choy would've been a better choice. - The beef pancake roll had meat that was hard and cold, which didn't seem intentional. - The banana crepe had charred bits stuck on it from the grill. - Even simple things like chili oil had hardened chili stuck at the bottom. Atmosphere: The décor was nice, but the restaurant was very loud. Also, the sign outside wasn't lit, so it's hard to find after dark. Overall, the staff seemed friendly, but the service flow and food consistency weren't there. With better timing and structure, this place could be great, but our visit didn't reflect that.

Was happy to get a Dough Zone in Olympia and brought a couple of friends out to try. It's the same fun, but okay food as the other locations, but they gotta work on their service. It was super slow. We were there over two hours because it took awhile to fire out food and we had to wait 15 minutes between different dishes coming out. Our server checked on us for water often but then would run off so we couldn't tell her we wanted to order more food. They have a QR code for the menu but you can't order food that way, so you'll wait for awhile if you want more items. Save yourself the trouble and order all the food you think you might want as soon as you get to order. The cucumber appetizer is the best thing on the menu. The pan fried dumplings are always fun, and the banana naan thing with whipped cream is so good.

I rode my stallion RKSpecial Harley over an hour for what Yelp search said was "dim sum"! Sadly this place is NOT a true "dim sum" restaurant as identified! The spicy beef shank was nothing like wat i expected and was not well liked. It is a dish served cold. Thin shavings of meat and some cut pieces with a light barely detectable flavor that was not spicy. The sweet and sour cucumber i added a little soy sauce and man that was good. Cud have used sesame seeds. The pork wontons in chili sauce were yummm but for the price you didn't get many. Pork and shrimp pan fried potstickers came grilled stuck together but nothing super special. Pan fried pork buns had inside a ball of cooked pork and some delicious juice. Place was steady busy at 1250. Bathroom small and clean. Wud i ride my stallion again over an hour for this expensive choice. I think not. Over $52 including 15% tip for 5 choices and i did have "to go boxes"!

The restaurant is easy to find, located in a plaza with other businesses, so there's plenty of parking available. I also like that their hours are posted in military time; it's a small detail, but it removes any confusion about opening and closing times. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. We arrived around 17:00 on a Wednesday and were seated quickly. Service was friendly from start to finish--menus were brought promptly, and we were asked about drinks right away (water was perfect for us). Throughout the meal, the staff was attentive without being intrusive, refilling our water and clearing dishes at just the right times. We started with the agedashi tofu to share. The broth was flavorful and the tofu was prepared well, with that soft, gooey, gelatinous consistency. While it wasn't quite my personal preference (I tend to favor a crispier texture), it was still tasty and likely ideal for those who enjoy it that way. For our main dishes, my son ordered the tonkatsu corn ramen, and I had the black garlic ramen (without bean sprouts--personal preference). This was our first ramen spot since moving to Washington, and it genuinely reminded us of a favorite place we used to visit in Sacramento. The broth was rich, creamy, and deeply savory--absolutely delicious. I especially liked that the ramen was served with a ladle instead of a standard soup spoon, which made it easier to sip more of the broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly--not too firm, not too soft--and paired really well with the toppings. My son even commented on the generous portion of noodles, which I joked was exactly what we signed up for when ordering ramen! We both finished our bowls feeling completely satisfied. The chashu and egg were highlights for me--I took my time consuming them. My only small critique is that I wish the ramen included a full soft-boiled egg instead of just half, especially with bowls averaging around $17. Overall, this was a great dining experience with flavorful food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. While I have a couple of minor preferences, I would definitely return and recommend it to others looking for quality ramen in the area.

Unfortunately, I was looking at an outdated menu on Yelp, so the spicy tofu soup is no longer on the lunch specials, AND if you want a "lunch special," it needs to be specified when placing the order. I assumed that because it was lunch time, I would be paying the lunch pricing? That wasn't the case when I arrived. Parking seems to only be on the same side as the barber shop (which i think is connected to the restaurant as well?). When I walked in, I didn't really check out the place. Seems like a classic no-frills Korean restaurant. An ajumma (아줌마) appeared at the register after a couple seconds (lol that is the first description that came to mind). I informed her of my phone order and she brought out the food and rang me up for around $55? I was thinking, yikes, that's a steep price for a spicy tofu soup and a lunch special of the galbi and mentioned it to her. She told me that the portion made is not the lunch special and next time, make sure to specify that over the phone if I want the Lunch special or dinner portion. She clarified, while acting out the mannerisms, of customers that would complain about the Lunch special, because they would want a dinner portion instead, so she just places general orders as the dinner portion. (I can already imagine the Karens she must have received for her reaction, which is understandable, but at the time, I was just slightly irritated since I was hoping to pay a cheaper price.) I am assuming after this experience, there is a difference in portion size for the lunch and dinner pricing.. Besides the miscommunication, I can at least say that the food was prepared quickly since it was ready by the time I arrived at the restaurant (about 15 mins after I placed the order?). With the outcast weather, I was craving some soondubu, and Seoul Garden definitely delivered! The tofu portions were generous and the broth was the right amount of spicy where you can taste the flavor but it is not overwhelming. I was not expecting so many complementary sides either! They paired very well with the rice and galbi, which was thoroughly marinated in a delectable glaze. Even though I was initially frustrated that I received the dinner portion, I calmed down after eating the galbi. My son and I actually ended up devouring it.. the food was so good, I totally forgot about the pricing at the moment. Just keep in mind though, this place is not advertised as KBBQ, so you're paying for individual plates/dishes/orders that should already be cooked. I would only recommend this restaurant if there are certain staples you really enjoy (i.e. you're only craving bulgogi but don't want to go out to eat or grill it), because it is arguably just as expensive as KBBQ. But if you're a foodie that can afford it, I'd suggest stopping by to try it out yourself! :)

Reviewing for just the ramen since I haven't tried anything else on their menu…read more My son and I were craving ramen a few weeks ago and we've been trying out different ramen places to compare. We're down the street from Zen and decided to give their ramen a try. Parking is easy to locate but can be a bit crowded since it's in the same lot as Dutch Bros and a couple other shops. When we first entered, we were greeted by an employee (and the Naruto statue at the front hehe). It was fairly empty when we arrived since it was on a Friday around 4ish in the afternoon. You have to pay first when you order. You'll be provided a number placard to place at a table of your choose when you dine in, and your food will be brought to you when it is ready. Drinks are also self-serve (for soda). We decided upon water cups but it's at the same station as the sodas. There is a menu at the cash register for quick ordering if you know what you want (when you walk in, it's on the left). The employee also directed us to a menu with pictures and descriptions of each item (when you walk in, it's on the right). The place definitely has Japanese vibes for the interior decor with its oaky/wooden furniture and warm lighting. Our ramen arrived shortly after we seated ourselves. We both ordered similar spicy ramen, which ended up tasting fairly good. My son really enjoyed his ramen since he liked the level of spiciness and taste of the broth (spicy enough to taste the flavors and feel the heat but not enough to hurt). He also liked that the ingredients were balanced (not an overabundance of just ramen noodles). I did enjoy my ramen as well and shared similar views. My only criticism would be that the ramen options seemed very simplistic and many ingredients were similar, so it didn't feel like much variety. My son and I actually ordered two different kinds of ramen, believe it or not, but from the photos, they look almost identical. There's also only the option of tonkatsu or shoyu broth, regular or spicy. The soft boiled egg was delicious but it would have been nice to receive a full egg instead of just half. They are generous with their chasu portions at least, with its big slices. Not as tender compared to other places I've been to, though, but still tastes good. We enjoyed our experience here though so I can at least say that it's worth trying out the ramen. Not so sure about the sushi burritos but maybe we will consider for next time.

My god the aroma that hits you as soon as you walk through the door takes you to faraway lands. The mixture of curry & coconut milk is just so fragrant you can't mistake it. BBQ Pork Puff: amazing. Think char siu bao but in a PUFF PASTRY. Flaky, warm, sweet, savory. Curry Chicken Puff: amazing amazing. I can't say enough how heavenly the combo of curry & coconut are to me. This says plenty. Also there are potatoes in it. Nasi Lemak: Coconut rice delicious. Chicken was well seasoned and tender enough. Whatever that sauce was hit the spot. Egg mixed in w/ everything gave extra variety in texture. Anchovies crispy and salty but not too salty. Other dishes ordered by my family: Chicken & Rice, Mee Soto Ayam, Ikan Bilis, Veg Fried Rice. I can't speak to the taste but I can tell you that there was a lot of moaning. Don't know if we'll ever visit Olympia again but SOS you have a special place in my heart.

You don't seem many Singaporean place around and our interest was piqued. And I was impressed by the modern looking storefront. On to the review... The Chicken Potato Curry Puff pastry had an amazing filling. My wife and I would eat this alone. The curry flavor had a nice balance with the filling. However, the travel time to our AirBnB in Southbay may have compromised the outer puff pastry part. That was a bit lifeless. I would have liked to have tried this while at the restaurant. The rice in the "Chicken Rice Lunch" had fantastic flavor. However, I don't think the rice was fully cooked though. We definitely had more than a few harder than normal kernels of rice. But kudos to the rice flavoring - even though the rice was not fully cooked, I wanted to finish the rice. And the Chicken Garam Masala was blah. The Garam Masala was way too watery for our liking. The flavor was too diluted. A picture of this dish on their online menu shows a thicker sauce. We didn't finish this dish...

I ordered takeout here on a Sunday afternoon through Doordash Pickup for my first visit. I called…read moretwice over the phone, hoping to place an order through this method, but no one answered; went straight to voicemail both times. Just a bit frustrating since I know Doordash charges more.. I also didn't want to place the order at the restaurant because I was so hungry and wanted to grab & go :( I was really craving pho and I liked their menu, so I took the chance and ordered both a regular-sized Meatball Pho (pho bo vien) and their Pho with Steak/Flank/Tendon/Fatty, which seems to be their "pho dac viet." On their menu, the price is listed as $15.99 for a Regular size and $17.99 for a Large. I paid $17.99 for each through Doordash for the regular-size, excluding the almost $4 of tax and bag fee.. Thankfully, I live nearby, so it was just a few minutes to drive over. It's in the same busy parking lot as Safeway and McDonald's but it's more on the opposite side, so I never realized it was in the same lot. Plenty of parking, at least. When I entered, the restaurant had plenty of seating but only a few tables occupied, which made me wonder why they didn't answer their phone.. I know I'm being petty over a few dollars but I just want to get bang for my buck. The inside looked nice and cozy, and I think would be a lovely place to enjoy a bowl of pho on an outcast/rainy day otherwise (if I didn't just want to go straight home lol). I was instantly greeted by a friendly employee that asked if I had a takeout order and escorted me over to a small table, where it was already neatly bagged and ready for me to retrieve. Now, the FOOD. I will say, it was absolutely delicious! Everything was organized and packaged well, so nothing spilled on the ride home. The pho was a good temperature: hot enough to cook the steak, but not overpowering enough to burn your mouth. The regular size still provides ample portions, so both my kiddo and I ate half for lunch, and our other half for dinner. I specifically asked for no beans sprouts with my order, so I do like that they provided enough for my son while still following my instructions. I am not too picky about my pho broth, but I can at least say, the broth here was not watered down. If anything, it might pack too much flavor and might deter some customers, but for me, it was savory and divine! I still had to add my obligatory hoisin and Sriracha sauces, so it might not be the healthiest, but i don't care, I slurped up everything! I usually post images of my food on social media [stories], and actually had a friend ask what the soup was because it looks really good. Some people have a finer palette for "good" Pho but for me, pho is pho as long as it is flavorful and there's a fair amount of MEAT! They offer moderate portions here so I can't complain, and everything was satisfying enough when eaten with the broth. 4 stars because they didn't answer the phone but my son and I devoured everything, so we can at least advocate that the pho is worth it! I'd recommend trying out this restaurant at least, especially if you consider yourself a pho connoisseur (or even a newbie to pho!).
