Olympia is lucky to have these two twins, one a tea shop and one a craft chocolate shop. Both have extensive and superb curated offerings. I visited the chocolate side and was impressed. What a wonderful set of stores right in the heart of Olympia - something for every tea and chocolate lover's delight! We heard about Encore through a local cafe. There is a type of tea that they carry that my wife absolutely loves. I asked where they got it and they started raving about Encore. I took a visit there the other day in hunt for Valentine's Day goodies and was hard-pressed not to buy a little bit (or a lot bit) of everything! On one side of the inside, central hallway you'll find their chocolate store. They have a vast array of local and mass produced chocolates. Any type of flavor you can think of, they have. On the other side of the hallway you'll enter their tea store. A huge selection of both loose-leaf and bag teas will fill you senses with enjoyment. We got the Dragon Pearls and can't wait to make out first pot of it. We will definitely be back for more, as we are tea lovers and they have some blends that totally have caught my eye. Friendly service, easy to browse and find what you need, and a great experience will greet you as soon as you enter Encore Chocolates and Teas. You'll want to keep coming back for more. I was blessed by the presence of a man who has experienced over 500 chocolates. If only I could get paid to do that. Luxury chocolate is never to be munched on. It's to be melted on your tongue as the flavors disperse while you savor and contemplate its essence. I went with the chocolate connoisseur's favorite dark and dark-milk. Smooth, creamy, and flavorful. The 75% Brazil Dick Taylor is wicked. Crafted in NorCal. Strong cocoa bean flavor with fruity and nutty undertones of honeysuckle, grape, and walnut. The 60% Ecuador Pump Street is decadent. Made in the UK. Soft bittersweet balance with subtle undertones of milk. I recommend the Brazil any day, but if you're not a true dark chocolate fan, you'll be happy with the Ecuador. read more

Having bought my tea in bag form from grocery stores, I never knew how good high quality tea tastes. I am utterly addicted to the #48 Monks Blend and purchase a variety of herbal teas to make cold tea in the fridge. There is a Milky Oolong that is rather expensive and worth every penny. My husband has been roasting our coffee for decades now and it is delish so I was surprised to find myself drinking more tea. I am on my way there today to stock up on Monks Blend and pick another tea to try out. Also, they have a dizzying selection of chocolates. read more

I love all the options they offer for teas and chocolates. The tea sections are extensive, from Black, Green, Herbal, Matcha, ect and even tea accessories. They were also very affordable. The location is also unique, with an indoor tree under a huge skylight. They also have a second store with all the local chocolates and honey. They offer Seattle Chocolates and more options for local and unique flavors. My favorite was Pink Bubbly by Seattle Chocolate. Dark chocolate with raspberry cream and pink poprocks to resemble to bubbles of champagne. I was curious and it was actually my absolute favorite. Staff were also friendly and helpful. read more

I passed by Encore on my way to my car from a coffee shop. I went in to explore, and see what they have and ended up walking out with three types of caramel, chocolate covered honeycomb, and hot chocolate. Everything I purchased is dairy free, and ridiculously good. I haven't been able to eat caramel in years, as I can no longer have dairy due to intolerance. They also have gluten free rice crispy treats and other gluten free and vegan options. These little caramel are soft and chewy and creamy and rich and if I wasn't told they're dairy free I wouldn't have known. The hot coco is turmeric infused and rich, perfect for the incoming full. The chocolate covered honeycomb is amazing too. The store is a little overwhelming with all the treats everywhere, but the staff is so helpful and friendly. It's so nice to have a real tea store in Oly. The Tea Lady is sorely missed. This shop caters more to loose teas than did the TL and, therefore, the global variety is more limited. But very high quality! They also offer tea pots and specialty tea steeping goods. I've not tried the chocolates (will power!!) but there is a large selection of gourmet chocolates. Since this store opened, they've taken over the tea/coffee stand in the enclosed court yard and are serving the teas they sell. Why not a 5th star? Downtown Olympia is a bugger for parking and over-burdened with street vagrants to weed through. read more

The website is easy to use, and I appreciate their detailed flavor & stewing descriptions. To my pleasant surprise, shipping was free, and there was also a curbside pickup option. Communication throughout the order & shipping process was great, and my order was promptly shipped the following morning. When I received my box, only one business day after it was shipped, it also included a nice little thank you card and a thoughtful sample that went along with the other flavors I had ordered. This is Olympia's hidden gem. I love this chocolate and tea shop. This is for the true chocolate lover. There is no Hersheys nor Nestle "wax chocolate" to be found here - instead you will find unique, delicious, artisan chocolate from all over the world. The prices reflect that. You are looking at 6-10.00 per chocolate bar, but good chocolate is expensive. ALWAYS amazing and personable service. Clean store. Parking can be difficult and you will have to make your way through people asking for money or wandering around drunk or high. Unfortunately, downtown Olympia has turned into a bit of a cesspool, but I still make my way downtown to some of my favorite stores. Just be prepared to deal with that. read more

Brought some friends here from out of town today. I'm always proud to bring guests to this store since I've always felt welcomed and love the items they offer. When we entered the chocolate shop, one of my friends needed to use the restroom so I asked for the code. One of the workers looked at me like I was a degenerate and said it's for customers only. I said we are customers, we are here to shop. They rolled their eyes at me and agressively gave me the code. As my friend was in the restroom, I asked another employee if they had sugar free options since I knew that is what they were looking for. They showed me where they were. When my friend returned from the restroom, I asked if they would mind showing them personally since they were scattered throughout the store and I wanted to make sure they knew what choices there were. The employee acted like it was imposition and showed my friend with an attitude. I was embarrassed, I praised this shop to them and looked forward to bringing them here. I frequent the shop often when I need a gift and I buy all my tea there. I recommend this shop to everyone. I'm not sure what the deal was, maybe they'd had enough of the people with the activities happening downtown but I was really disappointed in the treatment we were given. My friends weren't super impressed either. We did buy some items, the bathroom cost was covered. read more

Cons: I can't think of one This place truly is a gem! I didn't even know it existed until my daughter took us. My fiancee is a tea fiend so I know we'll be here a lot. The tea selection was massive. I want to say there's 150 or more teas to choose from. That is only half of the store! The other half is chocolate. As soon as we walked inside, we smelled the apple cider. After trying some, it was like a hot apple pie in my mouth. It was the best. The tea can be looked at, smelled, and checked for flavor before buying. the actual tea you buy is behind the counter on the wall, 2 oz minimum. The prices are very fair for the tea and the gentleman working the front even gave my 4 yr old daughter a sample of their chocolate for being such a good girl. We came in today from a recommendation for another local business. When we walked in, there was a table that indicated to either use the hand sanitizer or glove, both provided. I applied the hand sanitizer and as I was rubbing it in, a tall older gentleman, presumably the owner, looked up to acknowledge us. This shop is a gem and every time I visit I learn something new about the world of tea from the owner. He is so kind, knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does. The price for loose leaf tea is very reasonable and a 2 oz bag is between 3 and 5 dollars. And that provides about 40 cups of tea. And the quality is incredible. It's fun to just pop in and smell all the different ones. You simply write the number of the jar and he packs them up. My favorite are the red honeybush and oolong teas. We also purchased a chocolate chai which when placed in a small pot with almond vanilla milk and heated for 15 minutes is incredible. I've always loved tea - everything about it. Just the simple act of preparing it is peaceful and meditative. You can also find specialty and unique chocolate here as well. He carries a variety of chocolates and chocolate bars from independent chocolatiers around the country and in the Pacific Northwest. So stop in and enjoy! read more

Nice place with many tea options. Some organic but mostly not organic. I was a bit surprised by the minimum order amounts on the tea. I only ordered one type as it was 6.50 for 2 ounces. For tea I want to try that is a bit expensive. I would have bought about 6 ounces or more overall but the usual 2 ounce minimum at over $3/ounce made me not buy anymore. Also, due to Covid you can't smell the the tea. I understand this is no fault of the business but it is still disappointing. Staff was friendly. read more

I love this place! I wish it was closer to us in Seattle cause I always want to come here. The people who work at the tea shop are extremely knowledgeable and they are really passionate about teas. Speaking of teas they have a ton of them. When my partner and I came here we tried one of each of the different tea classifications and we have been brewing them and enjoying them nightly. They also have a wide selection of chocolates and a separate store that has spices. At the spice store we picked up some of these awesome broth satchetts that are so good on these cold rainy autumn days. read more

This is an EXCELLENT chocolate and tea shop! This place is kind of divided up into two in this kind of tiny "mini mall" of sorts. There is the main shop where you can get buy a vast selection of wonderful teas which I had two different samples of (which were delightful) as well as a nice selection of artisan packaged chocolates, mainly chocolate bars. Many of the brands I haven't seen before but a considerable number of brands I have and have wonderful, indulgent memories from previous purchases. The other part of the business which I didn't see until I left the shop and just a bit further back into the "mini mall" they also seem to have a stand where you can have prepared tea from a menu. Since I already had a few samples I didn't go back to order anything or if there is much of a tea room back there or if it is for "to go" orders only but it will be something I will be mindful of next time I am nearby and want some great tea!! read more

My girlfriend and I wandered into this shop while exploring downtown Olympia on a cold and drizzly day. Everything about this store warmed us right up, from the hot tea samples to the exceptionally friendly service. We spent a solid half hour at the sample wall smelling the extensive variety of teas that are available. Then we filled out a card with our favorite selections, wrote down the number of ounces we wanted to order, and brought it up to the counter where our order was quickly filled. It was a dangerously efficient process that made it all too easy to buy an excessive amount of tea! It's also worth noting that the shop has a small but quality collection of affordable tea accessories such as steeping baskets, teapots, disposable tea bags, and storage canisters. And the other half of the store boasts a substantial chocolate selection! If you consider yourself a tea person, make sure to stop into this little local shop. If you don't consider yourself a tea person, stop by anyway - you will probably be one by the time you leave. read more
