This place is amazing, EVERY TIME, I go in. They offer unique, delicious, fresh quality desserts. They have a huge case of options and they all look so amazing, it is hard to decide what to purchase. I have tried almost everything and there isn't one thing I wouldn't order again. Their Opera Cake is my favorite as are the meat filled croissants, but the lemon tarts are amazing as are the simple rolls. Nothing is going to be disappointing here. Their coffee is also delicious and made expertly. They are often very busy and sell out of popular items quickly so go early if you have a favorite you want to ensure you get. They are a well oiled machine and move through the line quickly, all while being friendly and answering questions without appearing annoyed. I love the clean and minimalistic feel of this business. There is a small area for seating as well. Parking is free but can be interesting at times since there is not a designated lot for the business. I've traveled to many places and countries, and Left Bank Pastry is still one of my absolute favorites and for very good reason. I've been a longtime customer and remember when they were just at the farmers market, so it's been incredible to watch them grow into what they are today. They've quickly become one of my must-stop places whenever I'm in Olympia. Honestly, everything here is excellent, but the Kouign Amann is on another level. Truly special and one of the best I've ever had. The quiche and croissants are also out of this world, they are flaky, rich, and perfectly executed. This is pastry done right. The location itself is beautiful: modern, full of natural light, and thoughtfully designed with places to sit and enjoy your food. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the coffee is great, which just completes the experience. This place continues to impress--to the point that it has now become an essential stop for us when travelling from Seattle to Portland and back. We have been here about a dozen times at this point, and it somehow just keeps getting better every visit. Every single item we have had from here has been superb. We've tried probably 75% of the items in the display case. We are going to have to keep stopping on our trips to try the rest, but it's hard to try new things when your regular order is so amazingly good. And the coffee drinks are superb as well, not to mention the pristine restrooms that are a godsend on a road trip stop. First visit was a spontaneous rainy drive to their former location back on 5/23/21. And then a very long hiatus! Second visit was a spontaneous detour coming back from the WA Coast and luckily was able to get parking in front of their current location. Obviously Left Bank Pastry remains popular with a unidirectional line out front Monday 6/23/25 around noon. Once inside, one can gaze upon the lovely shelves of various pâtisserie and viennoiserie. Realistically one can't order one of everything, so the pressure is on to narrow it down to some faves to savor onsite and some to take home. Beautiful displays, welcoming counter service, and relatively clean seating area, minus some crumbs on the table and stray straws on the floor. After being on the road for awhile, I was also very grateful for clean restrooms. The Homie had a refreshing frozen passionfruit lemonade ($4.90), raspberry glazed cronut/doughnut ($4.25), and a savory reuben croissant ($4.65). After switching out the powdered sugar dusted raspberry croissant out of the takeout box, I savored the intended blueberry croissant ($4.10). Returning to the counter, I was also able to sample free buttered portions of their baguette. I also noticed additional fresh pastries being brought out from the production kitchen to replenish the display case and speed cart out front. We both halved and shared the raspberry passionfruit creme tart ($6.25), oh my that was immensely delicious! Despite being one day and four days old, respectively....I really liked the canele ($2.85) and the pain au chocolat ($4.25). Collectively all the French classics were on point. Left Bank Pastry combines drool-worthy, impeccably-made pastry with friendly service and accessible prices that make it a must visit in Olympia. Their high ceilings and pristine white walls make the pastries in their shiny glass case look like works of art. If you're anything like me, you'll ooh and aah at how beautiful they all are and struggle to pick a reasonable number to leave with. I had the reuben croissant and shared the madeleine and canele. The croissants are beautifully crispy, the madeleines have that perfect hump, and the canele centers are deliciously custardy. The coffee is also really good! Not since moving here in 1985 have I found any of that level - until now! The pastries are very fresh and I will say, delicate. They are as easy on the eye as on one's tummy. Tons of choices. I love the croissants.! Classics!! Add to that is quality coffee and espresso drinks served in a charming cafe. One negative (to me at least) is the noise level. The walls are pretty bare and do not buffer the sound of conversations. It can be hard to hear conversations. Easily fixed. Parking can be a problem as this place is so popular. This is definitely the best pastry shop in Olympia. The pastries are French inspired and are very tasty. The service is awesome. You simply look in the pastry counter and tell the representative what you would like to order. Then they enter your order and you pay for it. Then, there is a slight wait as the kitchen staff assembles your order and warms up items they should be served warm/hot. I love the ambiance because it is a quiet place to enjoy your treats as you read a book or newspaper while drinking coffee or tea. You can also have a conversation with your companion. This place is very busy during peak hours and especially on weekends. Arrive early to avoid the weekend lines, but it is absolutely worth the wait. read more

Burnt crunchy crust with a soft custard like filling. Such a unique taste. They also have these amazing cinnamon sugar donuts. If you catch when they have don't holes, even better! When I first tried the pastries at Left Bank, they were stilled located at the bottom of the hill. I showed up about an hour before closing, and the incredibly friendly and knowledgable young woman working, helped me with my quest for the magical Kouign Amann. I also chose a chocolate/raspberry mousse tart. I paid for my order and waited for a short time, I was the only one there. She handed me a bag containing my order, and 4 other items to try. I'm pretty sure it was to promote how great the place was, as they were, at the time, donating to many places to get a foot hold in the area! Everything was spectacular! I returned at least 3 times a week for the next 6 months, until I moved away for awhile. When I returned, they had moved to their present location, near Ralphs. I re-ordered my original order. I recieved a badly burnt Kouign Amann and an upside down Mousse Pastry in my to-go box. Hoping this was an unfortunate visit, I tried again a few days later. This time I was in the store with maybe 4 other people standing, waiting for their orders. The display case was almost empty. When I finally got a chance to order, about 10 minutes later, because there was only 1 employee behind the counter, I ordered, and paid for what looked decent in the case. 15 minutes later, someone came out of the back with my to-go order, laughing with a co-worker in the back as the door swung closed. Sadly, when I got home, pretty much the same as before, items tossed in, not fresh at all, and again burnt! At these prices, although I wish I could support them, and always had, this is unacceptable. There are far too many glowing reviews for this very sad decline in the effort! This is one of those fine French pastry type places that ries to keep things to resh that when they run out of an item, they run out. They aren't firing up another batch that they'll need to donate or sell as day olds, so you know you always get fresh. The items made with croissant dough are always crispy and buttery. I like the kouign amann, the bacon quiche, and the caramel chocolate tart. Throw some coffee on that and that's a solid breakfast. They also have occasional holiday desserts, like the delicate santa hats or the red white and blue pastry on the Fourth of July. This is the place in town where you get your fine pasries. For me, I prefer to get my bready type foods at The Bread Peddler downtown, also authentically french, but if you want to impress people at the office, get your pastries here. Theyre are only a handful of tables(maybe seven if I remember correctly) and a window length counter so you can eat on the go, so I wouldn't do meetings here unless you're ready to snatch a table out from under someone during their rush. read more

Pretty underwhelming... First time visiting there and ordered the ham and cheese croissant and come to find out they cannot warm up any of their pastries except for their quiches... Which really doesn't make any sense seeing that there's plenty of ovens located in their back area or maybe they could even invest in a microwave... There is no menu and there is ALWAYS a line but it moves fairly quickly. Since there is no large menu, I highly recommend writing down your order as you are in line, especially if you have a large order. There is a small menu only for beverages at the cash register. I love this place - you can really taste the quality of the pastries at a reasonable price. My favorites are the croissant donuts and donut holes, highly addicting. I haven't tried anything that I haven't enjoyed so far. I guess my only recommendation if for a larger menu to be displayed to help make it easier for people to know what to order. read more

I have visited Left Bank Pastry two consecutive Sundays now; the 1st visit was at 4:00 pm and the 2nd visit was at 10:30 am. It's better to go earlier for a wider selection, which also means you may be met with a line out the door, but not to fret. The line does go by quickly. Thank you Marie, fellow Yelp Elite, for putting this on my radar last year. My favorite items are the ham & cheese croissant and the kouign-amann, which was a dense version and still enjoyable. My daughter enjoys the eclair and madeleines and the husband enjoys the shortbread cookies. It's a great spot in Olympia to stop by for pastries and coffee. read more

What a great discovery!! Our niece recommended Left Bank Pastry during a quick weekend trip to Olympia. Very cool minimalist interior, and the staff are so friendly and enthusiastic. To taste both sweet and savory items, we tried the spinach and feta quiche and a kouign aman. Both items were so tasty. The quiche was very light due to a very thin crust. We had to wait 15 minutes for the kouign aman because these are a very popular item. It's the first time that I had the pastry fresh out of the oven. The pastry actually tastes better after cooling because the sprinkled sugar recrystallizes and creates another texture to the experience. I only wish that I spent more time in Olympia so that I could try additional selections. read more

When you walk into the Left Bank Pastry shop, you can speak French fluently. Just kidding, but it truly feels like you have been transported to a classic French bakery. Classy, ornate, and diverse is the best way to describe this glorious space dedicated to goodies. While the staff was attentive, it was the care that was put into packaging our delicate sugary treasures. Before I start with the desserts, the coffee was dark and rich...perfect for the adventure we were about to take. I chose the cream puff swan. The breading was soft like a cloud but just hard enough on the outside...a bit of a salty taste that when paired with the light/sweet whipped cream...it was perfect. My wife chose the strawberry chocolate tart. OBVIOUSLY, there was a strawberry cream on top, but the chunks of strawberry hidden inside of the chocolate cream pie...I felt like captain Jack Sparrow when he finds the treasure. 10/10 read more
