Easily my favorite bakery in Olympia. Yes, Wagners is also GREAT. But, Left Bank is on another level. They have very delicious pastries - and also delicious "high end" desserts. If you can't decide which pastry to choose, just grab several to share and try out. read more

The ambiance at this bakery / cafe is beautiful and the service was genuinely nice. The pastries here are top-tier. The famous kouign-amann completely lived up to the hype with its caramelized, flaky perfection, and the raspberry croissant was rich and vibrant. Paired with a well-crafted mocha, it made for a fantastic treat. Plus, having spotlessly clean bathrooms is always an appreciated bonus. A must-visit bakery if you are anywhere near downtown Olympia. read more

Wonderful staff and super pastries and coffee/tea. Top shelf. However this place is SO noisy!!!! Its impossible to have a casual conversation. I've taken a couple stars off from my initial review for ambiance. read more

Flakiest, butteriest croissant in the best of ways. Mine had turkey and cheese(?) and was the perfect indulgent start to the morning. Seemed a little pricey, but I'm not from the area so idk what's normal. We found a table pretty quick, but it seems to be perpetually packed, so be ready to take your treats to go lol. read more

Such a cute bakery! It's got seatings with plenty of natural light. Ordered two savory croissants and a chocolate and raspberry tart. The croissants were just ok, the raspberry tart was very good! I've traveled to many places and countries, and Left Bank Pastry is still one of my absolute favorites and for very good reason. I've been a longtime customer and remember when they were just at the farmers market, so it's been incredible to watch them grow into what they are today. They've quickly become one of my must-stop places whenever I'm in Olympia. Honestly, everything here is excellent, but the Kouign Amann is on another level. Truly special and one of the best I've ever had. The quiche and croissants are also out of this world, they are flaky, rich, and perfectly executed. This is pastry done right. The location itself is beautiful: modern, full of natural light, and thoughtfully designed with places to sit and enjoy your food. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the coffee is great, which just completes the experience. Left Bank Pastry is the kind of place that reminds you why truly great bakeries are worth seeking out. A gem in Olympia and one of my favorite pastry spots anywhere. read more

Cute bakery in Olympia. Space is very big and there's lots of parking. Lots of savory and sweet croissant options. Got the turkey pesto which was ok - croissant was nice tho filling was a bit lacking and I tasted no pesto. Ham and cheese was just fine. Chocolate raspberry tart was beautiful and tasty read more

This place continues to impress--to the point that it has now become an essential stop for us when travelling from Seattle to Portland and back. We have been here about a dozen times at this point, and it somehow just keeps getting better every visit. Every single item we have had from here has been superb. We've tried probably 75% of the items in the display case. We are going to have to keep stopping on our trips to try the rest, but it's hard to try new things when your regular order is so amazingly good. And the coffee drinks are superb as well, not to mention the pristine restrooms that are a godsend on a road trip stop. Good thing we don't live in Olympia, or we would be putting on pounds and pounds from being in here on the regular. LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

I'd love to give this place zero stars because it made me overeat x 3. I stopped by to grab a canèle (they didn't have any when I was there). Instead I got some other delicious things. And I ate them all. Two would have been somewhat reasonable, 3 was not. I had two croissant based items and they were simply incredible. Total for the three things was $15. Very very reasonable. Go here, you will not regret it. No regerts! read more

Left Bank Pastry - Don't attack me. Look up Monty python wafer thin mint and you will understand - Bakeries Near Me - Olympia, Washington

This place is amazing, EVERY TIME, I go in. They offer unique, delicious, fresh quality desserts. They have a huge case of options and they all look so amazing, it is hard to decide what to purchase. I have tried almost everything and there isn't one thing I wouldn't order again. Their Opera Cake is my favorite as are the meat filled croissants, but the lemon tarts are amazing as are the simple rolls. Nothing is going to be disappointing here. Their coffee is also delicious and made expertly. They are often very busy and sell out of popular items quickly so go early if you have a favorite you want to ensure you get. They are a well oiled machine and move through the line quickly, all while being friendly and answering questions without appearing annoyed. I love the clean and minimalistic feel of this business. There is a small area for seating as well. Parking is free but can be interesting at times since there is not a designated lot for the business. Prices are a little on the high side but to be expected for distinguished fancy tasting treats. read more

First visit was a spontaneous rainy drive to their former location back on 5/23/21. And then a very long hiatus! Second visit was a spontaneous detour coming back from the WA Coast and luckily was able to get parking in front of their current location. Obviously Left Bank Pastry remains popular with a unidirectional line out front Monday 6/23/25 around noon. Once inside, one can gaze upon the lovely shelves of various pâtisserie and viennoiserie. Realistically one can't order one of everything, so the pressure is on to narrow it down to some faves to savor onsite and some to take home. Beautiful displays, welcoming counter service, and relatively clean seating area, minus some crumbs on the table and stray straws on the floor. After being on the road for awhile, I was also very grateful for clean restrooms. The Homie had a refreshing frozen passionfruit lemonade ($4.90), raspberry glazed cronut/doughnut ($4.25), and a savory reuben croissant ($4.65). After switching out the powdered sugar dusted raspberry croissant out of the takeout box, I savored the intended blueberry croissant ($4.10). Returning to the counter, I was also able to sample free buttered portions of their baguette. I also noticed additional fresh pastries being brought out from the production kitchen to replenish the display case and speed cart out front. We both halved and shared the raspberry passionfruit creme tart ($6.25), oh my that was immensely delicious! Despite being one day and four days old, respectively....I really liked the canele ($2.85) and the pain au chocolat ($4.25). Collectively all the French classics were on point. Business hours are Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, Sat 8am-6pm, and Sun 8am-4pm. A worthy detour in Olympia! read more

Left Bank Pastry combines drool-worthy, impeccably-made pastry with friendly service and accessible prices that make it a must visit in Olympia. Their high ceilings and pristine white walls make the pastries in their shiny glass case look like works of art. If you're anything like me, you'll ooh and aah at how beautiful they all are and struggle to pick a reasonable number to leave with. I had the reuben croissant and shared the madeleine and canele. The croissants are beautifully crispy, the madeleines have that perfect hump, and the canele centers are deliciously custardy. The coffee is also really good! The seating area is quite nice and a great setting in which to enjoy your pastries if you're not in a rush. read more

This is definitely the best pastry shop in Olympia. The pastries are French inspired and are very tasty. The service is awesome. You simply look in the pastry counter and tell the representative what you would like to order. Then they enter your order and you pay for it. Then, there is a slight wait as the kitchen staff assembles your order and warms up items they should be served warm/hot. I love the ambiance because it is a quiet place to enjoy your treats as you read a book or newspaper while drinking coffee or tea. You can also have a conversation with your companion. This place is very busy during peak hours and especially on weekends. Arrive early to avoid the weekend lines, but it is absolutely worth the wait. read more

Left Bank is a French bakery with a bit of a bougie vibe--in the best way. The pastries are beautiful and taste as good as they look, which isn't always a given. The space is clean and minimalist, calm without being cold. Staff is friendly and helpful, and it never feels like they're rushing you out the door. Parking's pretty easy with both street spots and a little side lot. Great place to grab something special or just enjoy a quiet moment with a really good pastry. read more

A piece of France! I love coming here for a quiche and some treats for later! Had to have a quick lunch today so I got the bacon and caramelized onions warmed up. So good. I ate that thing so fast! St. Honore is so delicious. The little pastry puffs covered in caramelized sugar with some pastry cream. Mmmm so good. This one has a cookie crust. I almost always get a canele for later. Burnt crunchy crust with a soft custard like filling. Such a unique taste. They also have these amazing cinnamon sugar donuts. If you catch when they have don't holes, even better! Service is always impeccable. They are always so nice. read more

Can't say enough good about Left Bank Pastry. Their Kouign Amans are perfect. Got lemon, and raspberry chocolate tarts for the birthday girl, who usually doesn't eat sugar... but these are worth it. I used to be a fan, I went there today and ordered a pasty and a double expresso. The expresso was bitter and was 2 sips, not gulps but sips.. The pasty was 4.40 the rest was the 2 sip expresso. They charged me 9.32 without tip. I would not complain if the expresso had at least been 2 swallows but it was a rip. The girl waiting on me charged me 4.50 for a 2 sip expresso. I have also noticed the service has been reduced a lot read more

Service was slow and impersonal. The pastries were "cold" and rather crumbly. The patrons seemed "nose up" at outsiders like myself and seemed only to be there for the vibe. I'd rather have spent my $ at the Met Market. read more

When I first tried the pastries at Left Bank, they were stilled located at the bottom of the hill. I showed up about an hour before closing, and the incredibly friendly and knowledgable young woman working, helped me with my quest for the magical Kouign Amann. I also chose a chocolate/raspberry mousse tart. I paid for my order and waited for a short time, I was the only one there. She handed me a bag containing my order, and 4 other items to try. I'm pretty sure it was to promote how great the place was, as they were, at the time, donating to many places to get a foot hold in the area! Everything was spectacular! I returned at least 3 times a week for the next 6 months, until I moved away for awhile. When I returned, they had moved to their present location, near Ralphs. I re-ordered my original order. I recieved a badly burnt Kouign Amann and an upside down Mousse Pastry in my to-go box. Hoping this was an unfortunate visit, I tried again a few days later. This time I was in the store with maybe 4 other people standing, waiting for their orders. The display case was almost empty. When I finally got a chance to order, about 10 minutes later, because there was only 1 employee behind the counter, I ordered, and paid for what looked decent in the case. 15 minutes later, someone came out of the back with my to-go order, laughing with a co-worker in the back as the door swung closed. Sadly, when I got home, pretty much the same as before, items tossed in, not fresh at all, and again burnt! At these prices, although I wish I could support them, and always had, this is unacceptable. There are far too many glowing reviews for this very sad decline in the effort! I might try 1 more time, but I should probably just give the money to the disabled guy begging across the street by Ralphs. read more

It is so small in there. It smells good but the pastries we got tasted old. Maybe old flour? But the customer service was the worst. I think someone forgot their manners before arriving to serve people all day. If you do not like everyone then you should not work in the public area. These grown women rolled their eyes at everyone that walked through the door and talked through a forced smile. This shop is not like the online reviews made it out to be. This place is no different than any other pastry shop. Would give it a 0 for rudeness. read more

The pastries are authentic to Europe, their coffee is yummy and the atmosphere is very reminiscent of a large French cafe!

In a town that does not speak French, I found Left Bank Pastry. It is not Paris, but it makes a good go of pretending. The pastries--those folded, golden things--speak a language I understand. Buttery as they should be. Not the kind of butter that sits in your mouth like weight, but the kind that whispers something fine and clean and then vanishes before you can say thank you. The fruit, when it is used, is bright and honest. Strawberries taste like they remember the field. The tropicals like they've seen sun. There is no mystery to the place. The walls are white, maybe too white, and the sound clatters around like change in a tin cup. You don't come here to hide from the world. You come here because you want something good to eat, and you don't mind being overheard when you order it. The people behind the counter move quickly. They give you what you ask for and nothing more. That is not a flaw, only a style. No one is pretending to be your friend. That's all right. You do not need charm when the croissant is good. Left Bank is not Paris, but it remembers Paris the way a dream remembers waking life - imperfectly, but with feeling. It is the echo of morning light on the Seine, heard through the rattle of an American espresso machine. The butter is right. The fruit tells the truth. And though the walls are too clean and the air too loud to carry a secret, there is still something here worth returning to -- not for what it is, but for what it strives to be. And in that quiet effort, there is a kind of beauty. A small defiance. read more

When you walk into the Left Bank Pastry shop, you can speak French fluently. Just kidding, but it truly feels like you have been transported to a classic French bakery. Classy, ornate, and diverse is the best way to describe this glorious space dedicated to goodies. While the staff was attentive, it was the care that was put into packaging our delicate sugary treasures. Before I start with the desserts, the coffee was dark and rich...perfect for the adventure we were about to take. I chose the cream puff swan. The breading was soft like a cloud but just hard enough on the outside...a bit of a salty taste that when paired with the light/sweet whipped cream...it was perfect. My wife chose the strawberry chocolate tart. OBVIOUSLY, there was a strawberry cream on top, but the chunks of strawberry hidden inside of the chocolate cream pie...I felt like captain Jack Sparrow when he finds the treasure. 10/10 read more

Left Bank Pastry - An assortment of croissants - Bakeries Near Me - Olympia, Washington

This is one of those fine French pastry type places that ries to keep things to resh that when they run out of an item, they run out. They aren't firing up another batch that they'll need to donate or sell as day olds, so you know you always get fresh. The items made with croissant dough are always crispy and buttery. I like the kouign amann, the bacon quiche, and the caramel chocolate tart. Throw some coffee on that and that's a solid breakfast. They also have occasional holiday desserts, like the delicate santa hats or the red white and blue pastry on the Fourth of July. This is the place in town where you get your fine pasries. For me, I prefer to get my bready type foods at The Bread Peddler downtown, also authentically french, but if you want to impress people at the office, get your pastries here. Theyre are only a handful of tables(maybe seven if I remember correctly) and a window length counter so you can eat on the go, so I wouldn't do meetings here unless you're ready to snatch a table out from under someone during their rush. read more

Pretty underwhelming... First time visiting there and ordered the ham and cheese croissant and come to find out they cannot warm up any of their pastries except for their quiches... Which really doesn't make any sense seeing that there's plenty of ovens located in their back area or maybe they could even invest in a microwave... Not to mention when I bit into it, there was only one measly slice of ham rolled up, not impressed at all, and I've had plenty of ham and cheese filled croissants... nice atmosphere although it was pretty ugly and loud good coffee but again probably will just be a one and done experience read more

There is no menu and there is ALWAYS a line but it moves fairly quickly. Since there is no large menu, I highly recommend writing down your order as you are in line, especially if you have a large order. There is a small menu only for beverages at the cash register. I love this place - you can really taste the quality of the pastries at a reasonable price. My favorites are the croissant donuts and donut holes, highly addicting. I haven't tried anything that I haven't enjoyed so far. I guess my only recommendation if for a larger menu to be displayed to help make it easier for people to know what to order. read more
