The restaurant has both inside and outside seating but I saw a lot of people were ordering food to go. Nice neighbourhood sushi place in Upper Queen Anne! Came here on Sunday evening and was surprised to find a very diverse offerings on their menu including Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. Ordered a ikura hand roll, yellowtail hand roll, spicy scallop roll, sunshine roll and hama hama roll -- all fresh and delicious! I also like that the icon of the restaurant is a very cute blowfish and you can see it on the plates. Super nice touch. The only recommendation I have is that the menu can use an upgrade. The pictures on there were not very sharp which could make new customers skeptical. But the food and service are great so I will definitely return for more food! read more

My two daughters and I have been exploring restaurants in Seattle. Time was limited so we try to go to random places we pass by. Ikiki was one of them. I was skeptical when I walked in but since my daughter wanted to try I stayed. We ordered chicken katsu, tempura udon, and sashimi plate. When the food arrived all three of us was shocked. My jaw dropped. Normally tempura udon is a bowl of udon with 1 tempura shrimp. This came with a plate of shrimp and veggie udon. The katsu dish could feed 2 people. My sashimi plate was so beatiful. Most importantly the fish was fresh. Since we were in a restaurant adventure we normally try not to go twice and trust me it has been hard. I was in a real rush, in an unfamiliar area, and needed take out fried rice in 10 minutes or less. To be honest, I didn't even look at the menu, went off the good reviews, and ordered fried rice with no meat over the phone. They did have it ready in five minutes! She did ask me if I wanted egg - and I'm glad I said yes - because there is literally nothing in this takeout carton except rice, oil, and egg. The chicken katsu had some of the freshest, most tender chicken cutlets I have ever had. The sauce was divine. The miso was also great.

I've been a fan of Ikiiki since they opened up in Queen Anne: the staff is friendly, the food is good, and I like the location. Last night, though, they went above and beyond my expectations. Me, my wife, and our guest had ordered food from Ikiiki via Bitesquad. A while after placing the order, I get a call from Bitesquad saying that the driver had screwed up and left half the order behind. They couldn't get a hold of him, and Ikiiki would close by the time he got back to get the rest of the order he screwed up. I was offered a refund and reluctantly took it. Shortly after that, I got a call from Ikiiki. One of their employees (Brian) offered to come down to my place and drop off the forgotten food. This was pretty far and above what was expected of them, as they're not a delivery service and my house isn't close. Brian ended up almost beating the Bitesquad driver to my home. I really appreciated the extra effort from them, and we'll definitely keep ordering from them in the future! read more

The dragon roll is also a favorite with the tempura shrimp, eel and avocado. They don't skimp on the filling which can be something you run into at some sushi spots. Unfortunately I think I got food poisoning from this place. I tried this place before I got food poisoning for a work meeting and I got the orange chicken. It was good and I liked it. I thought I found my go to Asian food place so I decided to go there again. I got the Seattle fried rice. When I got it smelled really good and tasted really good as well. But then later at night my stomach started to hurt. I didn't think anything of it but then the next day rolled around and the stomach pains seemed to get worse and worse, to the point where I would get cold sweats and felt really weak. A recent trip to Ikiiki found very few people eating there, on a late Sunday afternoon. Perhaps that is normal. We like places aren't too busy, provided they stay in business. The waitress did not have a strong command of English. The cashew curry dish with chicken was very tasty. But, I ordered it with beef, sigh. I was a third of the way through it when I figured that out, so I didn't say anything. The waitress also had said she would bring out hot spices to add if I wanted more heat. She didn't. She brought the saki unheated even though it was from the hot portion of of the saki menu. It was later heated somewhat properly and was a nice saki. My partner's food was decent, but not at all a 4-star heat level like it was ordered. Maybe Americans are assumed to not be trusted when it comes to heat level. That was probably a kitchen decision to under-spice the heat level. Overall, I was disappointed in the experience. This is my favorite restaurant in Queen Anne. I usually come here about once every two weeks or so. They have a great happy hour if you're able to make the hours. The wait staff is extremely personable. They crack jokes when appropriate and have fun with each other, which makes it seem like an enjoyable environment. The menu is massive, but not too overwhelming. You can choose from traditional Japanese food to more of a mix on things that have an Asian infusion. The sushi rolls are unique as well if you don't like a standard seaweed wrap. This is a great restaurant and highly recommend. read more

I was hesitant about coming to Ikiiki based on the reviews here on Yelp, but I'm glad I stopped by for a quick sushi fix here! I had the seared salmon sunshine roll with spicy mayo, fried onions, and cream cheese and it was so good! Service was friendly and super quick. Prices are a little high, but it's to be expected in this area and for sushi in general. Also, its much more reasonable than the other sushi joint down the street. Will be coming back here on lunch breaks more often! read more

Ikiiki has replaced Chinoise, our beloved neighborhood "go-to" spot in Upper Queen Anne. My boyfriend and I went in expecting Chinoise and realized that we could no longer expect to get "the usual" from our favorite server, who served us for years. It is hard not to compare Ikiiki to Chinoise, especially since the decore hasn't changed one bit. On the plus side the owner of Ikiiki used to work at Chinoise before she opened her own restaurants... So, there is some similarities in the menu options and food. Despite our disappointment we decided to give Ikiiki a try with an open heart and hungry tummy. The sushi is amazing. Hands down Ikiiki has a much larger sushi menu than Chinoise ever had and the sushi is fresh and delicious. I recommend trying the Sunshine Roll, SO GOOD! However, the General Tso's Chicken wasn't nearly the same as Chinoise, which was disappointing. Perhaps this is something that will get better with time. The Gyoza is very good and comparable to Chinoise preparation. We were in a week ago and Ikiiki didn't have their liquor licenses yet... I believe they are working on it. So if you are in the mood for cocktails, make sure to give them a call in advance. We will be back for the sushi and if you are a sushi lover, I recommend you give this place a try! read more

New management, new name. The owners are very sweet, and friendly. This aside, I was sad to see the changes to the menu. I miss the spicy garlic shrimp served while they were Chinoise. It was my usual. These last few times I visited, I've ordered, curry udon, sashimi, regular chicken udon, tuna poke, and salt & pepper prawns. All were mediocre at best. I was most disappointed with the salt & pepper prawns. It was neither salty nor peppery. I really wanted to like this place since the location is so convenient. There aren't too many choices for lunch in the neighborhood, so I'm sure I will be back when I get a craving for udon (as this is the only place that serves it on the hill). I probably would've given this place 2.5stars, but I rounded up for the friendly staff. read more
