Well-stocked, well-run IKEA, and the only one in the entire state of Ohio (I think) automatically qualifies it for 4 stars. Seasoned IKEA shoppers will know that although this is the go-to shop for affordable, good-looking furniture, not EVERYTHING at IKEA is cheaper than Target or even Bed, Bath & Beyond. For example, you can probably find an almost identical, cheaper mirror or lamp at Target (I just did). Same goes for some dining sets and chairs. So hunt around before putting all your eggs in the big yellow IKEA bag. Now, onto the Restaurant & Cafe. This is where, if you're not careful, you just might end up spending most of your time and more money than you planned when setting out. The famous Swedish meatballs are a must-try (yes, despite the horse meat incident). I like the salmon, too. The mushroom crepe could use more mushroom and flavor. The sound of the overhead voice announcing "A fresh batch of cinnamon buns has just come out of the oven. Grab a box of six to take home or eat them in the car if you can't wait" is like Mother announcing dinner's ready. Last but not least, take a cue from everyone around you and grab a frozen yogurt cone before heading out... ...as you can guess, I can easily spend more on food than furniture at IKEA. I came Saturday with my mother, who is challenged with mobility issues. She has severe arthritis and uses a cane, but she really loves to see IKEA when she comes to town- it's very exciting for her. I went to the front entrance of IKEA to get a wheelchair, as navigating a store this size by cane would exhaust my mother. No wheelchairs. No employees. I walked to the checkout area and the exit to see if there were wheelchairs there. None. I asked 3 different workers if they could find a wheelchair. The first two brushed me off. Both told me the wheelchairs were in the front and to ask the person there... again, there wasn't any worker there. The third employee pretended to not hear me. We started through the store with a push cart and found 3 other workers in sofas. My mother asked them for help getting a wheelchair and finally one of them went to go look. He came back about 8 minutes later to say no wheelchairs were available. The store wasn't busy. There weren't a plethora of wheelchairs on the floor. We saw one in use. IKEA- do better. Get a few more wheelchairs. Have them available. Train your employees how to talk to people with disabilities and to show compassion. Your store is a wonder of fun things to see- work on allowing access to everyone. read more

Yay! Cheap Swedish things and meatballs! So, we all know what Ikea is known for, low prices. I do like that I can jump over to Ohio and grab some cheap wine glasses that I don't mind breaking or cute little decorative items. I can't really speak for the nicer furniture, other than it's gorgeous. I've only had experiences with the dressers that you pray don't collapse when gingerly sneak in another pair of socks. The food, eh. It's OK I guess. It is cheap, so I guess that's one thing. The mashed potatoes were pretty decent. The meatballs... I just can't get over the horse situation. Went to IKEA for the first time ever, and it was almost fun... Actually, it was fun, and I don't even like shopping and was apprehensive about going there. The store is fairly well organized. It was pretty busy, but the crowds weren't too bad to deal with. It's a big place, and it helped that I went with someone who had been there before. I needed a dresser, and found just what I wanted. It went together well, and is much higher quality than other wood furniture I've assembled. Plus I walked out with a duvet; when I walked in, I barely knew what one was... We also went to the restaurant, and while I enjoyed that in general, I have to say I was underwhelmed by the meatballs. read more

if I could give negative stars I would. I order an art easel for my nephew and the first package it arrived broken. I called to ask them to send a new one and they said the would and it would arrive 3-4 days. it never arrived. I called and they said it was canceled for an unknown reason the first time. The other times they promised it was on it's way. I had to call 4-6 more times and finally got the most rudest customer service rep and she refused to transfer me to a supervisor. they also stated I would get a refund and I never have gotten one. Who doesn't like IKEA? I went to look at new furniture and get some design inspiration for my new home. I spent hours looking at couches and tables... enough time where my partner literally had to almost drag me out. Surprisingly after looking at every couch only one was a good fit, a lot of them felt hard, or way to soft. I had better luck with tables, but also had concerns with my entire house looking like an IKEA when I looked at them, I felt a lot of them lack character and an overall grownup feel. I surprisingly found an amazing light that I'm going to have to DIY a little to look more unique, but the cost savings are worth a can of spray paint. I am more impressed with IKEA's home goods on the first floor, I'm actually going to be buying a very decent amount here. This is also the worst part of the store... think carts, strollers, really anything to be used as a battering ram to be used as one by impatient shoppers who forgot they were coming to an IKEA. Be prepared to to spend time here, don't go on a weekend if you're in a rush and just enjoy IKEA for IKEA. read more

I love IKEA!!! From food to furniture this place has it all and the best part? It is all reasonably priced. The setup is pretty awesome. You walk through faux rooms which allows you to see the furniture and accessories as you would likely use them. Super design ideas galore! Everything is pretty good quality. Our stuff has lasted years. It is not high end furniture but if you are shopping at IKEA you are likely not looking for that anyway. What you do get from IKEA are fashionable yet reasonably priced items for virtually any taste. Onto the food...yum yum yum! I was skeptical of the cafeteria style set up...thinking the food may be cafeteria like but I was pleasantly surprised once I dug in. I am not a Swedish meatball fan but there is just something about IKEA meatballs that are oh so satisfying. You can't leave without trying some of the chocolate cake. I am not a huge chocolate cake fan but this may be an exception. Wonderfully light but dense enough to get your chocolate fix. Does that make sense? Just try it!!! The last time we visited my experience was a little less than stellar. IKEA employees are generally some of the friendliest ever however, I came across the biggest grouch I have encountered in a long time. He was just blatantly rude. He was so terrible that my husband went to talk to him about it. Since that went nowhere (and the guy insulted me more saying I had issues) I spoke with a manager who was genuinely concerned about my feelings and correcting the situation. I like that he did not offer me a discount (i.e.: he didn't try to buy my feelings) but instead did something about it. I am not sure Mr. grouchy grouchster will be there next time I return. I have been in love with IKEA ever since I set foot in one in Kaiserslautern Germany. I have bought many things from them over the years. They are decently priced, however, if you go cheap you get what you pay for, it will fall apart if you take it apart multiple times. I love the show rooms, it gives you ideas on how to spruce up your old kitchen or ideas for your new kitchen and other rooms in your house. The feel is modern and european, they have a cafe that is cheap and delicious as well as snacks when you check out. I like how you don't have to pick up your big items until just before you check out and they have a pick-up area to check out. One boo for ikea is that if you want something you have to go get it, i wanted a book shelf and am located 5 hours from the nearest IKEA and it would've cost me $450 to ship me something that only cost $90, they literally drive a truck from that IKEA location to your house. I have to wait till i travel and know what i want to come and get it and have the right vehicle to do this. IKEA you will always be one of my favorite stores! It is worth a stop if you ever see one, just remember they are very few and far between so take up the chance, go down that highway one more exit and turn around, you will NOT be disapointed! read more

The restaurant on a Sunday was in no-selection mode. The staff was curt, and is not good for newbies, even those trying to ask intelligent questions. One was helpful, the others seemed patronizing and aloof. The goods were of decent quality, and I bought some and assembled them flawlessly and with less effort than other brands. I bought items from their "marketplace" that were of decent quality, too. There were a few actual bargains. Go if: - you brought your measurements - you know what you're looking for - you study the maps to the shortcuts of where you want to go - you otherwise brought a list, your patience, and your Ikea Family Card - you obtained your Ikea Family card online, and don't stand in line @ the checkout bottlenecking others while you desperately try to fill in the app on your smartphone before you get to the cashier. Don't go if: - you're easily intimidated by a long and arduous shopping experience - you want a selection in food (at least on Sunday) - you forgot your vital measurements - you can't decide or make decisions - don't read labels closely - can't take notes of what you want to buy, including long part numbers - have easily distracted children - aren't handy with a screwdriver There is an awesome amount of good quality stuff. Love IKEA! Went to buy a cart for my classroom. Another teacher had one, and I had to get one too! Their prices are so reasonable. Plus I love browsing through the departments. Of course, I always buy more than what I intend, but they have such a great selection and make shopping so fun! We have bought a leather couch sectional there, and it has served us well - durable and well-made. Love that they have the furniture set up to help you envision it in your own home. Am I really going to be the first person to review Ohio's brand new and much anticipated IKEA? Well hot damn! Part of my Spring Break was traveling down to Cincinnati to check out this monumental event in the lives of most Ohioans. It's been only a week since the store opened, and the massive crowds were still there, with plenty of charter buses bringing people in from every corner of Ohio. Police were stationed to direct traffic, and I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before this IKEA sees any break from the crowds. But that didn't stop me from having a great time. The store is laid out just like the one in Pittsburgh, so there's a certain flow that you've got to follow. Luckily at the end of the showroom, the flow leads you straight to the cafeteria. Meals are as cheap as the furniture, respectively. A plate of Swedish meatballs for only $4.99! Yes please! A towering slice of chocolate cake and a class of Lingonberry Juice added on to that will give you enough energy to navigate the marketplace. Below the cafeteria, the marketplace will have everything you might need to complete the look of your new room. Linens, baskets, plates, the list can go on forever. Be sure to check out the lighting section. IKEA's lighting design offers the best and most creative options. At the end of that journey you can travel through the huge warehouse and pick out your assembly furniture or just proceed directly to check out. And of course they offer another food stand so you can carb up before your trip back home. IKEA finally has a home in Ohio! I wouldn't suggest going for another few months if you are at all claustrophobic, but don't worry, it looks like IKEA is here to stay. read more

We have waited several months to shop here at IKEA. We went and bought a TORNVIKEN for our kitchen and was greatly disappointed. Several of the holes were not drilled correctly and we are missing a few screws. Trying to contact them about the problem takes patience, which trying to put together the furniture takes just that. I cannot joust pop in because they are 3 hours away. WHAT A JOKE! I still need parts where do I call? I was on hold over an hour the other day. I finally experienced my first visit to an IKEA store in West Chester. When we first arrived, we were excited about being there. Given that we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, it was hard to find a parking spot in the parking lot, and there were alot of people in the store too. After driving around a bit, we finally found a spot. As we walked into the store, we were overwhelmed on which level to start at. We walked through the second floor first to see the various floor layouts. I found several kitchen layouts that I liked and found many of the items at a reasonable price. As we made our way through the second to first floor, we came across the kitchen items. I purchased some of their drinking glasses at a reasonable price. We finally made it to the express checkout and it was very easy. I was expecting to be at the IKEA store for hours on end. We seemed to see the whole store in 3 hours, but that does not include eating lunch/dinner there either. I'd go back again, but not in the too near future. read more

I took IKEA having a location in West Chester for granted. I later found out that its IKEA's only location in Ohio, and it's right in my backyard. My favourite part about IKEA are 1. the catalogues, and 2. when they have member discounts on salmon products. IKEA's smoked salmon is the best deal around, and easily so when they have the discount. This IKEA is great; it's well organized and they hold many events. They offer free breakfast during their first opening hour (on weekends only maybe?) and the staff is always helpful. I gotta say though, Cincinnatians, all they do on the weekends is either a) go to IKEA or b) go to Kenwood Mall. Nothing else. read more

Trying to write a review about this place and not repeat what others have said is difficult, but not impossible. Here goes... Yes, weekends are super packed and you'll have to navigate your way past slow walkers or dawdlers that are deciding whether they want the Vikal or the Mygal couch (I totally just made those names up BTW), but the selection and prices make such challenges worth it. Side note, their shopping carts are really easy to push and navigate; all 4 wheels rotate smoothly and I wish other stores had such cool carts. Got kids? I don't think anyone has mentioned their daycare drop off place (Småland Play Area) right by the escalator. If your kids stay with you, I am sure they will love seeing all the cool kids related items like the tent cover for their bed. How cool is that?! (From their site: This supervised play area in the entrance lobby is for children between the heights of 37"-54" who are potty-trained (no pull-ups). Kids can play in this safe, imaginative environment for up to an hour!) Another cool thing is that you can recycle CFL bulbs here. Neat. Got a small car? Rent a van from them for $24.99 for up to 4 hours. If you really buy a lot, you can pay $59 and have everything delivered. Small price to pay if you are buying a houseful of furniture. For families, there are special spots for you that are nearby the entrance and are wider so you can park the 'van easily. It's a fun way to spend a Saturday. But make sure you eat before you go it will be an all day event. Eventhough they have a cafe in the store you can get lost trying to find it. This place is very good for finding that one piece of furniture you have been missing. Ikea also has great cooking tools at very inexpensive prices. The worst part about buying large items (I got a sofa) no one there will be able to really help you find your item the custom is responsible for getting it and lugging it to the checkout. read more

Here's what blows my mind with this store.. I have been invited when my daughters were younger to come here for a play date. Really? Or the hype of the restaurant is another good one! Man, I really am starving! I'm going to IKEA to get some runny eggs! But if you want to go here to look around or you're a big fan of IKEA and so by all means go! There is a lot of parking and the store is clean and well kept! There's a restaurant and the store is massive! The few times I have been here the staff has been quite friendly and willing to assist! I've been shopping at IKEA since the late 1980s when there were only 3 U.S. stores. Even then, the company had a huge following. However, in those days, they didn't have cheap furniture, though the more expensive stuff was labeled "Möbelfakta" to denote the extra quality, and apparently that it was also environmentally sound. The company continues to be more environmentally friendly while still selling plastics. 5 p.m. yesterday, a Tuesday, was not crowded anywhere and IKEA was no exception. You could look, eat, and examine every item in the store without running into someone, until the registers. While I was there, they made an announcement about hot cinnamon buns, so maybe that's why so many were at the registers then. IKEA has changed a lot. The Lack (parsons) tables were never $7.99-$19.99 way back when and I never saw a stick of outdoor furniture. The furniture is very affordable today. I love the Gröno blown-glass lamps and the set of two for typical-sized light bulbs are on their way out for $19.99 for each set of two. That's up a bit from $12.99 but they're still a good deal and individually stunning. I can't say much for their CFL bulbs. They died quite quickly and cost more than most stores' bulbs. Bulbs at Menards are probably the least expensive and longest lasting. The food at IKEA is good. In fact, when i travel to the store, I make sure that I go there for a meal, mostly for the salmon. I've found the cakes/tortes to be to my liking, also, as I don't like incredibly sweet things. They sell many of the items just past the registers, on the way out. The glasses, plates, etc. are IKEA products, so you'll know exactly what you're getting when you buy from the Marketplace. If I say that there was one bad thing, it was the workers. Everyone at the West Chester store, who isn't working in the restaurant, seems upset to be there. To everyone I've spoken, they're disgruntled about something or they're not thrilled to have a job. That's sad, especially today when jobs aren't that easy to find. read more

IKEA is at its most enjoyable if you are there for inspiration. The entire top level, the show room, is set up not unlike a museum, with various rooms and spaces decorated to give you ideas. There are even little arrows on the floor to direct you where they want you to go. The first floor is the marketplace, where you can pick up your purchases. If you get smaller items, you can get them as you spot them, while larger items are pick up your own on the way out. The largest purchases are sent to the Furniture Pick-Up, where employees bring them to you on a cart for loading. There is also the famous cafeteria, which features a variety of foods ranging from fries and chicken tenders to the much talked about Swedish meatballs and very tasty broccoli potato cakes. While it can be fun to look around, it is frustrating if you want to find a bathroom or a shortcut to skip ahead in the store if you already know what you want to get. Quality varies, as previous reviewers have mentioned, so being choosy can be beneficial. It is great for dorm rooms or first apartments, though. I am going with 3 stars because I have had two distinct types of experiences at the store. On the one hand, if you go to grab something small or pick it up yourself, it's pretty straightforward and would probably be 4 stars. However, picking up a larger order that has to go through Furniture Pick-Up is more frustrating and would only get 2 stars. The most recent time we were there for Furniture Pick-Up, we checked in and were told it would be a half hour. After our group ate lunch and finished looking around, we checked in again and were told it would be an additional fifteen minutes. A later check-in said fifteen minutes... well, two hours later, the order was finally ready. The employees who assisted us in loading the truck were very helpful and friendly, but the long wait and the fact that we couldn't get a straight answer on it was pretty frustrating. I love IKEA, there are so many ideas that run through my head as I walk the hundreds of aisles and the prices are Great and affordable. It's rare that I spend almost 8 hours in one store but it makes me wish I had a home to build from the ground up. Oh IKEA and its famous meat balls! I am sorry to mention it at the beginning of the review but trust me no one seemed to care at the restaurant in IKEA when I visited there. I have always liked IKEA stores because of their exceptional organizational capabilities. If you really think about setting up a store like that in a small place it is an achievement in itself. It was very useful to have IKEA app on my smartphone during purchases. It made my life much easier when collecting furniture from warehouse. It's an IKEA so if you've never been to one, you need to go. However, if you have been to other IKEAs, you may find it a little underwhelming. They made it really small (I guess because Cincinnati isn't a very big city) and the selection is a little lacking. Also, the aisles are pretty narrow which could make Sunday shopping a little crazy. This is the closest IKEA to Indianapolis, so in spite of the store being smaller than many other IKEA locations across the US, it still holds a very special place in my heart. I typically try to visit at least once a year with a prepared shopping list, which I typically abandon five (5) minutes after entering the building. Although the layout may be confusing to newbies, you eventually become "one" with the flow after a couple trips. I find it easy to navigate the warehouse portion of the trip too, as long as I keep organized and jot down the bin numbers correctly as I shop. My favorite part of IKEA, beyond the food court, is the grocery at the end. I can fulfill all my crazy cravings for weird-sounding food, buying up armfuls of salted black licorice, amaretto-soaked pastry balls, chocolate balls, fish balls, balls galore, cured fish, etc., and have a smorgasbord of goodies to munch on when I drive back to Indy. read more

Decent location. Huge store. Always crowded. 3.5 stars. With that said, my wife and I went a couple times over the course of a few years in that area. The more we went, the more we found how cheap and flimsy everything was. It was quite eye opening to see the "perceived" quality of the items, and would recommend not purchasing bigger items such as furniture here. The smaller items or decor type things are nice though, and some of them look great if you find solid quality pieces. Good quality furniture for a great price. IKEA is a great store for someone like me who likes to change up their style often, wants a good look without paying a lot for it. The concept of IKEA is build your own and it cuts a lot of the labor cost of constructing the furniture. The store is a huge warehouse that has a marketplace upstairs and the furniture in boxes, unassembled, downstairs. The marketplace is a good place to see the assembled furniture and to get ideas. Each piece of furniture will have bin numbers that you can go downstairs and to pick up the pieces and take home to build. The quality is not top notch but it fulfills the purpose for a handful of years until you get tired of the style. The wood is very soft and it scratches easily and not good for high usage. My life and style is ever changing and it fits my taste. read more

Just visited for my first time today. I didn't make a purchase so I can't comment on customer service or ease of receiving items. I can comment on the abundance of items they have. It was absolutely overwhelming but don't let that scare you. If you go with a purpose to find items to fill your home I'd say be prepared to take a good hour or two of searching. There is so much to see and assess. Don't grab the first thing you think you like either. You will find 2-4 variances of it and may change your mind. Of course not the absolute best quality items but they are practical and if taken care of properly will last years and years. I was impressed at the cleanliness and attention to detail on how items are showcased for customers to view. Definitely will be returning to purchase some things for my home. read more

I don't want to love this store. I don't even enjoy shopping. I tried really really hard to be grumpy and dislike the whole experience. I even had my four kids with me. We stopped to use the restroom after a hike and ended up being transported to a glamorous world of interior design at a killer price. All we had to do was follow the arrows on the floor so we didn't get lost. I am not good at putting designs together and like that they have multiple pseudo fully decorated apartments to show you some ideas to maximize a small amount of space. After killing the afternoon and picking up a few necessities we decided to order lunch. A family sized large pizza and 5 drinks only costs $15 and it was REALLY good pizza. I love IKEA- the store, the prices, the food, and the company as a whole. However, my experience from start to finish today was extremely frustrating. I parked in the family parking area (kudos IKEA for having this!) planning to return a number of large frames. I had my young toddler in tow so I needed a cart to seat him that would allow me to stow the frames. Unfortunately there were none in that lot, none outside and none inside the entrance. It took me ten minutes of playing pied piper to navigate child & frames into the store. After some time standing by the front door, I flagged down an employee, asked where to find a cart, and explained my conundrum. He told me they were outside and to the right, quite a ways a way. And then he walked off. Somehow we managed to make it to customer service, all the while my little one was crying and calling "pick up mommy!" at me. By the time we arrived, one of the frames was broken. Then, the associate at customer service told me that one of the frames wasn't on our receipt. It's possible it was from an earlier purchase and I didn't have that receipt with me-- I'm not sure. Basically she said she couldn't give it back to me or refund my money because it was clear to her that we hadn't paid for it in the first place. I was too exasperated at this point to think rationally but I'm pretty sure we may have purchased it on a separate trip. I realize that some of this is simply what I get for procreating. But I'm dismayed by the lack of family-friendly carts in the family parking lot (but I get it- stuff happens) and then the non-assistance I received from an associate, followed by a veiled accusation of theft by another. Plus I think I'm now I'm out the cost of one frame. I'll update my review if I have a better experience next time. read more

I love IKEA! I'm glad this location is here, it's closer to Indy and worth the drive. The customer service is top notch at this location. This nice gentleman helped us load up our van to the brim with furniture boxes. We would not have been able to get it to fit with out his help. I can't wait to go back! IKEA wants you to grab a yellow bag or cart to shop. Makes sense! Then when you go to check out, the cashier doesn't help you bag anything. But does offer a blue bag to purchase. And makes you put the yellow bag you've been using back. WHAT a scam!!! This store and franchise should be ashamed of this... A Very Disappointed Retired Veteran! read more

I used to love Ikea, and I really wanted to continue this loving relationship, but it seems in the last few years the quality of their products has gone down, but prices have remained the same. Don't get me wrong, it's still low priced furniture, but you get what you pay for, and should expect that out of it. Particle board is going going to hold up so long before it starts to break down. I used to go here multiple times a year, and now I come just every few years, for one small select item of theirs that I still like, but never for furniture. I still have a few of their old pieces that were more sturdy from years ago, they just don't make them as durable anymore. read more
