Nixco Plumbing - Jeff and Sam Heger

Nixco Plumbing

Fast arrival and great work. Our guy Chris is awesome. Next day service for a broken garbage…read moredisposal and things were done professionally with a quote in advance and no surprises.

Look at all the other 1 star reviews for similar predatory prices…read more I have a simple shower valve replacement, the wall is already cut open in the room behind the shower. It's a matter of using wrenches to remove the old valve (4 pipes attached) and using wrenches and plumbers tape to put the new one on. Simple, but still not something I am confident enough to do myself (yet). Nixco sends a tech out, and quotes me over $1200. Let that sink in... $1200. No cutting, no drywall, should take maybe 30 minutes tops, unless some 'problem' is discovered. $1200 I think the tech knew as well, because as soon as I saw that, I chuckled and asked "What's involved in getting to that price?". He looked at the floor and quietly said "well, uh, that's just what the labor involved, uh..." I said, you can stop there, no thanks. I called Nixco just to half complain but also half give them a chance, like are you standing behind this quote? To which they gave me the typical "we'll pass it on to the service manager". I'm not using them again. I ran in to this kind of set up with Apollo. The quotes seem absurdly high, but also the tactics seem like that of old school used car salesmanship. He looks at the project, goes to his van for like 10 minutes, then comes back. He's likely calling in to someone that's guiding him on the price, and they are seeing what they can get away with. Or, and I'm just speculating here, the techs are getting some kind of commission on the overall price. There doesn't seem to be any drive to get the job done quick and efficient. I'm just scared for people that don't know any better that fall for this. I used Nixco on one other project, where the tech had to cut in to the wall, saw pipes, weld new pipes, and attach valves. So much more involved than this, and that job was under $900. he rationalized it to me that having to cut in to the drywall, cut/weld pipes, is more labor intensive and more complex, so I went with that. Compare to this job, which involves none of that, and it's $1200?! Don't use this company. ----- UPDATED ------ So, i'm responding to the response I got with the cost breakdown, and follow up from another local Cincinnati service below. "licensed and trained technicians": sure, goes in to the hourly rate, right? That's $400 per hour, correct? "quality materials designed for long-term reliability": what materials? Maybe a foot of copper and some solder? "proper installation methods (not temporary or shortcut fittings)": you charge extra for install things properly? what's a temporary install? duct tape? "warranty coverage": warranty on what? I bought the valve at another store, you're just installing it. if it's defective, that's not under your warranty is it? "insurance": sure, cost of doing business, but am i paying the whole monthly premium for this one job? "and the accountability of standing behind our work": Customers have to pay extra for this? How about, do a good job, and make people happy. If you made a mistake that requires follow up, do that, at no cost. Don't heavily pad the bill in case you make a mistake and have to fix it. FOLLOW UP on the project: I found Russell Plumbing Inc. (513-561-2804), and they were great. It wasn't an emergency, but they said it's a relatively small job, and could squeeze me in early. Came out about 830am the next day, done by around 1030am. $275. Nice people, didn't disappear in their truck for 20 minutes to work up a quote like a used-car salesman, got it installed, cleaned up, and moved on. Give them a call! I'll write them a great review as well.

This company just did major damage to our walls and did subpar work. A one week job stretched into…read more5 weeks. We had them place waterproof laminate throughout the main area of our main floor. Three bedrooms of carpeting. Vinyl in a bathroom and a mudroom. And waterproof laminate in the finished basement. The first crews didn't cover/ tape off appliances or areas as stated in their contract. The whole house from the 14 ft ceilings with 10 ft ledges to the ducts and 6 brand new appliances' vents were coated in flooring dust because they used multiple electric saws inside our house. They dinged and gauged every single wall in every room. Massive amounts of damage to newly professionally painted walls. Some gauges removed layers of paint. There were black hand prints all over the walls. Their lunch garbage thrown on the lawn. The flooring in the basement was installed incorrectly. They left off the protective plastic layer that goes underneath. We have a video camera that points right into the basement door. Otherwise we wouldn't have known until our floor failed - then would've been told that the warranty was voided because it was installed incorrectly. The carpeting crews then did a shabby job and left a big, raised seam down the middle of the master bedroom. Doors not reattached or dragging the carpet. The wrong transition strip was put on the top of the basement landing - the wrong color and a major trip hazard. The carpeting crew then also did further damage to our walls by cleaning and painting on our walls without our permission. The project manager, Nadia, was in charge of the first crews and carpeting crew. We emailed Nadia and the salesman, Jay, the pictures and videos of all the damage to our home and the crappy work that had been done on the flooring. That email was forwarded by Jay to the branch manager, Amanda. Amanda assured us that everything was going to be fixed, the crews were let go and that Nadia was removed as project manager. She promised that a professional crew would fix the flooring, agreed to pay our painter to fix our paint, she would send out a cleaning crew and get our ducts cleaned. She also said she was going to oversee our project. Amanda didn't oversee anything. She didn't come out to our home until 3 hours before the 2nd crew was finished with our floors. She was on our property a total of 19 minutes. All caught on video. Video of her being asked by the 2nd flooring crew about the open hole left in our finished basement floor. It's supposed to have a matching cover. Instead the first crew shoved another pipe into the drain, making it narrower and no one has ever brought the matching floor cover. We still have an open hole in the floor. Also video of her saying she was going to have the flooring removed from our back patio. It's still sitting there. She also didn't even look at the carpet seam in the middle of the room or the damaged walls. The 2nd flooring crew did a better job but now less than two weeks later and the floors are popping in multiple places. The unqualified cleaning crew sent out by Amanda and Iliane then did more damage to our walls. Well, her teenage kids did. She sat in the car nearly the entire time, on her phone. Also all caught on camera. The mom can be heard asking the progress of the kids as they worked 'cleaning' my home and she sat. They didn't clean much but did a lot of damage. The mom used an unapproved cleaner on my floors that can void the warranty and strip my floors. After nearly 5 weeks into a job that was to take 1 week, has damaged our home, delayed our move by a month, delayed putting our other home on the market, cost us a lot more money than the cost of the flooring and ton of stress - we decided it was in our best interest and for the sake of our home to part ways with this company. We just could not trust anyone from this company to be let back into our home to damage it further. They have all proven themselves to be completely incompetent and unable to handle a job of this size. It was agreed that a price reduction was warranted and we were told we would hear from them soon about whether our warranties were still valid. We were also told that the owner had been notified. After three days with no communication we emailed to enquire about the status of our warranty. What we got back from Amanda was a snarky email that reeked of Chapgpt. It also stated that we would not get our reduction in price if I left a negative review or said anything negative on social media. That didn't go over well. We paid the reduced price and you're reading this review. And the damage is condensed here for space, it's worse. The new owner? Never heard from him. I sung their praises in multiple reviews before and now I'll shout from the rooftops what they did to my home and the crappy work they did.

I would recommend Floor Coverings International without hesitation. They are professional,…read morereliable, helpful, solve problems and reasonably priced. We had to remove carpeting from two bedrooms and a bath before extensive repairs. Then install new carpets. After I explained our project, Katie came to our house within 24 hours. She evaluated the areas and provided helpful suggestions on how to proceed and recommended padding and excellent carpeting. Katie then orchestrated the removal, clean up and installation new carpet after the construction. She reduced a tremendous amount of stress for us by assisting with this project. Oh, the carpeting is a fantastic improvement.
