And their return dept takes forever. 3 folks working and taking over 15 mins to help 3 people, while you have 2 folks working home delivery & furniture delivery with nothing to do. Poor customer service planning, they should be able to overlap to help. Still waiting with 9 more people ahead of me. Finally got done after an hour...beyond ridiculous!!! read more

I was double charged for a dresser and did not realize until I made it all the way home, 35 miles from IKEA. I had to rent a truck due to the size of all the furniture purchased. My friend and I purchased multiple pieces for our homes. I called ikea the next morning to discuss the steps for a refund as their cashier made the error of scanning the dresser box twice. They advised that they would open a case with the Tempe store and they would be contacting me within 72 hours. The ikea customer service rep updated all of my profile information as well since I moved. More than 72 hours goes by and I still have not heard from anyone so I called ikea again, I was advised that they would be refunding my card for the $170. I was extremely grateful they would do this without me traveling all the way back with the items, I purposely did not build anything because I worried I would have to travel back with them. I kept checking my bank statements to see when / if the money was refunded, after 10 business days it still was not refunded. I called ikea again around 9am and was told that they had issued a gift card, I was upset because no one had called to discuss, why would I want a gift card when this wasn't my fault? If it was I would totally understand but their cashier scanned the dresser box twice. I was told I would have to call back after ikea opened in Tempe after 10 and discuss changing the way of refund. I went ahead and called back around 12pm as I was working and spoke with a customer service rep and was advised that they issued a gift card, couldn't tell me what address (was is my current one they updated when I first called or the original address on file?) but offered to give me the gift card # over the phone. I advised I did not want a gift card as this was not my error, $170 is a lot of money and I would prefer to have it returned to my card or cash. I was then advised that I would need to go back to the Ikea store and discuss in person.... Why after 4 calls was I just told to go to the Tempe ikea store to resolve this?! Still no resolution, I'm about to put in a claim with my credit card company. Ridiculous and horrible customer service. read more

Wow, such a love hate relationship with this store. We were able to find quite a few things to help improve our overall home storage and cleanliness. Unfortunately, when one of the items broke and we had to make the dreaded 25 minute drive back to return it we were met with quite possibly the worst sales person in the history of ikea (in my personal opinion) She took almost 20 minutes to process a return for the person ahead of me and by the time I got to her she had such a foul attitude it made me want to say forget it. However, I felt worse for the line of people behind me... very very slow service in the returns. What did we learn today, well we learned to never buy something at ikea that you don't like as returning it will be a nightmare. Also, make sure you have all the numbered pieces when buying any sort of furniture. Rookie mistakes, right? Haha. Overall, I would avoid ikea if I could. However, they do have some items that are very functional and help make the house more inviting and clean. Large parking lot. Only one in the area where I live. This was my first trip to Ikea ever and let's just say that September in Phoenix means its still a scorcher outside. Plan accordingly if you are trying to buy lots of heavy items. I didn't really know what to expect, but we got there 30 minutes after it opened and we were able to find a fairly close parking space. When you first walk in you see this kid center on the right....day care while the parents shop...pretty ingenious! Up the escalators we went and I just felt a bit overwhelmed with the showroom. I walked into one showcase and I wanted everything in it especially since it was advertised to be only less that 1k for that room setting! Where was Ikea when I was trying to buy cool cheap furniture for college?? After about a hour in the showroom, my head was spinning so we decided to grab a bite to eat. My relatives raved about the Swedish meatballs and how if you spent over $100 bucks at Ikea, lunch would be free. (Chinese people and the word "free" go together like peanut butter and jelly). The swedish meatballs were delish! Other than that, not too impressed with the Buffalo Chicken wrap, smoked salmon and the mac and cheese. After lunch, we headed downstairs to look for all of our items that we wanted to purchase. They have it pretty organized considering its a HUGE building! We found everything and checked ourselves out. Our lunch was "free" since it gets taken off our final total after spending over 100 bucks. They have this unloading area close to the exit door that you can park your car and load your newly purchased items easily. Overall, Ikea is pretty dang cool and the 3 items that we purchased had dummy proof assembling instructions...definitely a win win for me and Ikea. read more

I've eaten at the Ikea cafeteria several times, and while the food won't blow your mind, they have a good selection of hot buffet items (including the coveted Swedish meatballs with creamy gravy) as well as cold sandwich and salad plates. Another nice touch is that you can always find something with salmon in it. And although I'm not a sweet drink fan (I'm always searching for extra diet soda options), whenever I'm at the soda fountain here I help myself to an icy glass of lingonberry juice drink. Hey when in Sweden... er, Ikea, do as the other random shoppers do... or something to that effect. What I do want to mention that may be overlooked in other reviews of the Ikea cafeteria, is that they periodically have special dining events. I discovered on the Ikea website that they announce an all-you-can-eat Swedish Crayfish Party. Unfortunately, you cannot buy the tickets on-line, so you have to show up in person at the Ikea cafeteria. My delinquency in getting myself over there in the past stymied my chance at checking this event out years ago. This time I was determined to get my crack at some tasty mudbugs (having lived in Louisiana for seven years, I am a bit obsessed with getting my seasonal crawfish fix). I bought my tickets about a week in advance, and the second seating (6 - 8 p.m.) was already sold out. I settled on the first seating from 3 - 5 p.m. Note that this event takes place during a weekday, so not everybody has an accommodating work schedule for the early seating. The Crayfish Buffet was quite impressive! The crawfish are served cold and aren't cayenne pepper spicy, like Cajun style. Rather, they have a distinctive dill seasoning that is interesting nonetheless. The rest of the buffet includes a mess of food including Swedish meatballs, pickeled herring, smoked salmon, salt-cured lox, cold salads, potatoes (boiled and mashed), cheese and crispbread, shrimp cocktail, and a great dessert selection of rhubarb tarts, elderflower cupcakes and cookies! You will not go home hungry after sampling everything. The food service personnel were super friendly and helpful. The entire cafeteria area was closed to regular shoppers and reserved for the big party. The entire place was decked out with crayfish-themed decorations including bibs and party hats! We made new friends while waiting in line and dined and chatted the entire time. If you are a crawfish fan, or just an avid food explorer who wants to sample a little bit of Sweden, keep your eyes peeled for these occasional funky events at the Ikea cafeteria. Finally, I have visited an IKEA - my niece can rest peacefully now! It was all I expected and then some. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk! A good thing is that have a cafeteria with excellent Swedish meatballs so you can replenish yourself after what can be hours of shopping. What more can you want.? Difficult to find employees. Lines are ridiculously long and so slow. Their inventory is greatly diminished due to the pandemic which is not their fault but OMG. I had to drive several hours to get here and if feels like I am in Disneyland with the sheer volume if people and noise. They have a huge selection and the store is well kept. However I walked in knowing exactly what item I wanted because I found it online I was just avoiding the $80 delivery fee for the 2 items I needed. I thought walking in I would find someone that could point me in the right direction without having to go through the whole store (it's huge). Well to my surprise I could not find anyone to assist me so I gave up on that and just poked for the product myself which thankfully found fairly quickly once I got to the area that it was in. After I went to the self serve area and behold all their employees were here, but when they saw me struggling putting the boxes on the cart no one offered to help. I managed and went to the cashier which they had plenty of lines opened so the line went by very quickly which was nice considering everything else. However the cashier was bland no hello no how are you and no did you find everything you were looking for..... I like the things ikea has to offer but in store it was a horrible experience and online you're stuck with a HIGH delivery charge. I guess you just can pick which route works better for you. Ok, I'm Swedish by heritage, so a love of IKEA is in my blood. I just turned 30 in 2011 (play the funeral dirge) and up until recently this place has been my go to for years for inexpensive but euro-design modern furniture. I say until recently because I find myself gravitating more now towards furniture that is "heirloom quality". The furniture in my place that comes from IKEA is now being phased out piece by piece via craigslist or Goodwill, but I'll always have a soft spot in my heart (and my wallet!) for this place. I'll still be pulling through here on occasion for the experience of walking through, the well designed showroom and the good deals on housewares and lamps (which I do still think are worth it). Oh, and the food is surprisingly delish! Get the Danish Wedding cake, it's awesome. Don't be fooled by their terrible food photography! So much food for so little money, and they have kids meals that the kids will actually eat. If you do not like what they offer in the cafeteria you can get food downstairs like Pizza and hotdogs...what kid does not like Pizza or a hotdog? I had the meatballs and mashed potatoes and they were so good. I wish there was something bad to say about eating in a furniture store cafeteria, but there really is not - it was great food, great service and fun for the kids (there is a play area with a TV that they can eat at too (so the parents can enjoy their food too) My wife had the herb chicken and it looked great too, and she said it was really tasty too. She loved it. The desserts were amazing too, and very filling --- SO MUCH FOOD for SO LITTLE THE MONEY! I called their 1-888 number and received a message that due to high call volumes they can't take new orders over the phone and asking customers to purchase online. Called their Tempe number looking for assistance and was transferred around 5 times!!! No one seemed interested in helping - zero customer service. At one point I was actually interrupted midsentence and hung up on when I tried to explain my situation/frustration. I have always been a fan of Ikea for it's small home decor items and organizational tools and most of all all the cool home decor displays that they have. However, the only part I like from this Ikea is the cafeteria. Their displays are messy and they are often out of stock on the items that are displayed. I feel like this location does not have strong room presentations and it takes the fun away from shopping their displays. The display room is upstairs and the sell items are downstairs. May IKEA have their food court in the middle of the Maze but I do like that they have it upstairs right by the entrance at this location. They also have a dessert bar at the exit. Their food is decent a d VERY affordable. I recommend getting breakfast there if going in the morning. Pocket friendly and tasty. read more

Return department is ridiculous. Two employees working and the lobby is packed with customers. One pace, SLOW! This stores Customer Service is horrible. Can't find a Manager to express anything so this goes on Yelp! This use to be a great store, wonderful Customer Service and great employees with a smile and very helpful. Not anymore! Prices are fairly inexpensive but you get what you pay for. That being said, tonight we came into Ikea at 7:30pm for a cutting board and a pillow. We went down to the checkout to find only 4 out of the 36 or whatever lanes were staffed and all four registers had lines going all the way back into the self service area with the boxed furniture items. It's a weekend. Staff your store accordingly. Needless to say we left and won't be back. Wow! I love IKEA so much and I hope the one opening in San Antonio next year will be similar to this one. First time eating at the cafe and I was impressed with the seating area. Clean, comfortable, and modern. There were built-in things to keep the kids busy without keeping them too far from their parents and not in the way of other shoppers. Awesome idea. . God help you if you ever have to return anything here. We have been sitting here in their ever so convenient dmv style "take a number" waiting area for 20 minutes while one guy assisted one customer. After a second employee finally shows up to start helping with the 15 people waiting with their numbers, he keeps letting random people without numbers walk up before those who've been waiting. The last time i was at the dmv i got assisted quicker than at this place. Absolutely horrible. Cons: Too many people in the store. Its hard to navigate through the closed maze. It can be claustrophobic without windows or exits. I only shop in store when absolutely necessary. The store is not for those with anxiety : -) Pros: Price points are right on the mark. I bought a sleek desk for my home office. No frills but sturdy and attractive. It was less than $200. I like the fact that the instructions for most items are good, online and easy to accomplish. If I can do it, anyone can. The food in their cafeteria is not great. Way too much salt in their mashed potato's and even in their Mac and cheese. It was like a heart attack on the plate. I couldn't believe how salty and how quickly it dried up my mouth. When I complained about it, they stated it was normal. They offered the mac & cheese as a replacement but then again it was salty. IKEA does NOT care about there customers. It's a HUGE store and they were only allowing 10 people in the store at a time. In AZ it's 107 degrees outside... the store has plenty of room to be safe. I waited 45 min outside until I couldn't stand the heat anymore and left. I would have just done pick up if the orders didn't take 2 weeks to pick up. I would have done delivery if it didn't take 4 months to get the items!!!!!! IKEA you suck and I will not be purchasing from you any longer. read more
