We just completed a whole-house remodel with Tanner--including the kitchen, bathrooms, flooring,…read morepainting, etc.--and we are more than pleased with the outcome. The Tanner team, both Al and Bryce, are the best. For such a large-scale remodel, there are 3 important qualities we were hoping for in General Contractors, and Tanner met all 3 hands down. #1 - Flexibility: A remodel such as ours had quite a lot of changes midway, delays due to decisions that we had to make, backordered materials, etc. Tanner was very flexible and accommodated last-minute changes with reasonable cost additions. They did not nickel and dime us; instead, they focused on ensuring the end result looked good. #2 - Dealing with issues: Any remodel is guaranteed to have issues. What differentiates a top GC like Tanner is how they deal with those issues. The control that Tanner has over their subcontractors is amazing. Any time an issue arose, Al would make a call and the subcontractor would pick up on the first ring--even when we couldn't reach them ourselves. That's the power Al and Bryce have over their subcontractors. We had issues where subcontractors were pointing fingers at each other, but one call to Al or Bryce and they immediately worked with them to fix the issue together as a team. This is something I believe is extremely important in a general contractor, and Tanner came through every single time. #3 - Having your back: You need someone watching over the work and the outcome at all times. Al and Bryce truly care about the quality of the work. Al has an eye for mistakes and has literally made contractors redo work when it wasn't up to par. He genuinely cared for us and wanted us to have the best. He ensured we got the best floor tile installer, who did an amazing job with large-format tiles. He also found us THE best Taj Mahal slab that we literally could not find anywhere else. Bryce stepped in when the cabinet colors were delivered incorrectly--even though we didn't initially recognize the mistake. He worked behind the scenes with the cabinet company to have all the cabinets redone. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the final outcome, which looks amazing. We are incredibly grateful to Al, Bryce, and the Tanner team!

Harold dropped by soon after we called and not only dud he give us a great estimate, he also provided some valuable suggested improvements. We decided to go with Tanner and glad we did. Not only was Harold monitoring and following up with the subs and expected progress and quality of workmanship, the guy he pulled in (Salvador) was AMAZING! Salvador built the shower and jacuzzi tub walls and did ALL the tile work - and his attention to detail on the tile work was some of the best I've seen. I would highly recommend these guys if you're doing any remodeling. We're gonna bring them back to do our kitchen next year!

We patronized, and would again, Countertop Rock (CR) in the metropolitan Phoenix area for several…read morereasons: 1. CR's communication is stellar from cradle to grave; 2. We appreciated the clarity of the scheduled work outlined when considering their services; 3. They indicated flexibility, within reason, regarding project creep should we want to modify or add to its scope (which we did); 4. No contracting job occurs flawlessly...CR has the resources to readily leverage labor and materials to fill any gaps and the inevitable. Our experience began when we initially called no less than 5-8 contractors looking for options on full kitchen/bathroom cabinet refacing, extending existing kitchen cabinets to the ceiling, replacing kitchen countertops and adding cabinets to the laundry room including a functional sink w/countertop. Several providers never answered their phone or called us back and the others that did required us to take measurements before they'd even come to our home. (Eventually, after pressing this issue, we were told this is industry standard, however, the likely motivations are these companies assume their time is going to be wasted and/or they prioritize full cabinet replacement over refacing) Joe Ricciardi, Countertop Rock, is the only service provider who actually answered the phone and immediately scheduled a visit to our home. He was on time (all appointments), clean-cut, has a professional demeanor and effortlessly creates a relaxed rapport, all while continuously developing a renovation strategy based on LISTENING to our ideas and then guiding us through our Q&A. He took measurements (which we would've gotten wrong left to our own devices after watching Joe); showed us examples of previous jobs; provided samples of color schemes, textures and styles; created a timetable and clearly discussed expectations (which only wavered slightly throughout the project because we added to the job) and lastly provided an estimate for the job that only increased slightly, because we added to the job. In short CR, Joe, is the only service provider who demonstrated a true hunger for our business and therefore he earned ours. As the work began, we decided to add on to the job by having three counters in different bathrooms replaced; Joe had us visit the 'yard' where lovely pieces of granite leftover from other jobs created gorgeous upgrades to our bathrooms at discounted prices making those rooms really pop. In summary, it took about a month to complete all the work outlined above; the job ran efficiently and as described. In hindsight, the lack/absence of communications and preconditions of the other service providers led us to Countertop Rock, and we're thankful it did as we can't imagine having gone with another provider. So we wholeheartedly recommend Countertop Rock as your cabinet and countertop specialists...its family owned and run; we always felt safe with their workers; everyone was obviously the best in their space; and CR conducted itself at all times as an experienced and quality solution to our home renovation and set us up for great success regarding our home's resale.

My wife and I contracted with Arizona Cabinet Source based on recommendation. Kandy has been our…read moreproject manager, but few items require your involvement, as I assume your decision on how to resolve this matter came only from Kandy and I believe I can add my side of the argument which will result in a win-win compromise. Solution that has been pushed by Kandy is a zero sum proposition which I do not agree with. We started our project on the new kitchen with Home Depot but decided to look for a local company instead. At the end of June 2021 Home Depot designer has provided us with the floor plan with dimension drawing that contained our basic idea but already had incorrect cabinet height which will be positioned above our refrigerators. Kandy went over our drawing, new measurements of the kitchen walls were made and it was communicated by us to Kandy that "our old refrigerators" will be used. Another constraint we had is two architectural cutouts that would dictate the height of cabinets above the refrigerators. We also provided a printout from Sears of our refrigerators when we met with Kandy in person to finalize handles and decorative accents for the kitchen. She asked to copy the print out for her file on our kitchen We also went over the center island design and tweaked a few design accents. We stressed that the kitchen island should have 14 inches depth between the edge of the countertop and depth to the cabinet so that we can hide stools when not in use or when people are sitting they are comfortable and the knees or feet are not touching the cabinet under the countertop. Here are our issues that need to be resolved: Issue 1: The island cabinets are correct dimensions in the architectural drawing but an incorrect cabinet was ordered and installed. At the moment the distance between the edge of countertop and cabinet is about 25 inches (so the cabinet is narrower but needs to be wider) Solution proposed by Kandy: The Company wants us to pay for new cabinets and they will install new cabinets free of charge. We disagree with this proposal because we are paying for the designer's order error. What we want: The new cabinet purchase and labor to perform change should be the burden of Arizona Cabinet Source, since the design does not reflect the ordered cabinet. Issue 2: The refrigerators do not fit under the new cabinets. The cabinets need to be lifted to accommodate the height of refrigerators. Solution proposed by Kandy: The cabinets will be lifted at cost to us to cover the labor. The materials will be covered by the company. She claims that we signed off on architectural drawings and liability for correct dimensions is on us. We disagree with this conclusion. We hired a professional and paid for her services to do the job right the first time. She failed to catch the mistake. Kandy had an architectural drawing with the wrong cabinet height number. Instead of doing her own drawing she blindly copied the wrong design of the Home Depot designer and in addition failed to double check her work by physically re-measuring the refrigerators. What we want: The new material and labor to lift the cabinets up should be the burden of Arizona Cabinet Source. The company designer gets paid for her expertise to see 2 D drawings in 3 D and the mistakes should have been caught and at minimum advised to make cabinets above refrigerators narrower so that they can be above refrigerator's height and yet below architectural cutouts that are in the wall. Postscriptum: In offering to resolve the errors Kandy never disclosed: a) What is their labor expense in installing a new cabinet under the center island, she only stated that the new cabinet will cost X dollars and we have to pay for it. It would be helpful to know the labor cost so at least we are aware that burden is split evenly b) In offering to lift the cabinets Kandy wants us to pay for labor but never disclosed how much it would cost them to use new materials. It would help to know to if the offer is just.

The front desk woman was very kind but her first question was "Who sent you here? Answered, My contractor. "What's your contractor's name, who does he work with here?" After checking to see that he wasn't in the system she asked me to fill out the intake form and then walked me through the warehouse. She asked me who was paying for the counter tops, me or the contractor. Odd question but I said I was. I grabbed a couple photos of slabs and then we walked out and she gave me a print out of the items with pricing. She also stapled the branch manager's card inside and told me to have my contractor call him even though I was there today to buy I wasn't asked and apparently no one could help with that process other my contractor. There was at least 4 associates in the warehouse then in the showroom taking pictures of items for what seemed to be social media. Way more interested in "likes" than sales, branding is everything, except when your brand is to make sales. Still no one said hello, not one of them asked if they could help, asked if I had questions or acknowledged that I was a customer ready to buy and schedule a counter top install. I'm taking Steve's recommendation and heading to AZ Tile today and then Daltile's showroom followed up with Cactus Tile and Stone. I love capitalism and the free market.

We had some pretty firm ideas, and she made some great recommendations along our lines. Jackie never pressured us into anything we didn't feel the need for. She mentioned things that lots of people like -- like a cabinet over the fridge and a wood panel separating the fridge from the sink base. You see that lots of places. But we felt they would make the kitchen too boxy. And we never have got much use out of those cabinets over the fridge anyway. It's a simple little kitchen reminiscent of the kind we grew up with. If you want something fancier, or if you need more hand-holding during the design process, she can probably do that too. She also stayed on top of the cabinet company when we had problems with them.
