Well, they got their name right..." JK (Just Kidding) Cabinets".
I HIGHLY suggest you continue your search and find a reputable company. I gave them 1 star because the review doesn't accept anything less.
When multiple mistakes started surfacing, we received nothing but snarky, condescending responses from both the salesperson and owner. This company is strictly a sales company that has absolutely no customer service once they receive the signed contract and initial deposit.
The first issue arose when the contractor told us that he was instructed to move the entire island for the plumbing to be under the sink which put the island approx. 18" outside the kitchen area. The most frustrating part was we asked the sales guy (Garrett) numerous times if the plumbing would need to be relocated because the original island was at an angle and the new one was square in the kitchen. We have a plumber in the family so, it could have easily been completed prior to installation; however, he assured us that it did NOT need to be relocated. We discussed an alternative to moving the island. We instructed the contractor NOT to move the island but instead use the cabinet in the back of the island to house the plumbing. Thus, leaving us with a large cabinet that we are unable to use as storage, which was the whole idea for having cabinets on the back side of the island.
Upon inspecting the double oven placement, we noticed it was approx. 7" from the wall. The drawing and discussions with Garrett showed it to be within an inch of the wall. We had lost confidence and did our own measurements and discovered that Garrett mismeasured the area that created a snowball effect. Not only wrong placement of ovens but smaller upper cabinets, smaller bottom lazy Susan and dead space between the lazy Susan and oven cabinet. When brought to Garrett's attention, he basically called my husband a liar and wouldn't back down that he measured correctly, until a crew member from the install team told him the accurate measurement. His response was a flippant, "well that's not a problem, I'll just get you an upper cabinet to fill the space and a face plate for the bottom". The new items that arrived were wrong, I called Garrett to discuss the issues, he scoffed numerous times which made me very upset. He scoffed once again and said, "I don't understand why you're so upset".
The countertop folks they sent nearly drilled the incorrect number of holes, then we find they drilled the holes too close to the sink. They come back several times to "fix" the problem by manipulating the nuts and washers (ground them down) to force the faucet to mount. They mention they might grind my new farmhouse sink to force the soap dispenser bottle to fit underneath. I told them "No, that will weaken the sink and void my warranty". Less than 5 minutes later I heard grinding; I go to the kitchen and ask if that was my sink, and the snarky response was a sharp "Yep!" I hadn't been able to reach my husband to ask his opinion if I should give them the go ahead. After that response, I was able to reach my husband to explain the situation. He came home (luckily, he works just a few minutes from the house). When he confronted the guys, they were snippy with him as well and stormed out of the house, leaving a mess on my floor and base cabinet under due to grinding my sink as well as blood marks on my cabinet doors and sink skirt.
JK Cabinets will assure you they send "licensed" contractors. They force you to have a separate contract for the cabinet installation. We discover the contractor they sent was working on a suspended license. When brought to their attention, Jackie stated "JK cabinets does not provide/sell labor and we are clear about that." I don't understand why the countertop installation wouldn't be a separate contract.
When it came to the final payment, we expressed we expected some sort of credit for the loss of a storage cabinet and smaller cabinets. They refused and continue to refuse to accept any responsibility. My husband reached out to Jackie via phone, she refused to listen or give my him an opportunity to explain our frustrations. She did offer constant interruptions and condescending remarks. She stated, "well you signed off on it". Yes, we signed off, assuming a cabinet salesperson knew how to measure.
Neither Jackie nor Garrett wanted to listen, all the while shifting blame. According to Jackie, it was our own fault and according to Garrett it was the contractors' fault.
My recommendation is...Keep searching for a cabinet company. read more
