PART ONE: The worst customer service I have ever experienced. First, after selecting our pieces, we walked to the checkout line to ask an employee about scheduling home delivery. He asked "Did you pick what you want?" to which we answered "Yes, we have the item information here". "No, did you physically pick it up off the shelves and bring it here?" He said impatiently. "No. We didn't know we needed to do that" "Well, you do. Unless you want to pay someone to do it for you." The tone was like we were stupid for not ever having been to an IKEA and knowing exactly how their system works. We went to home delivery, where we were greeted by an employee who made it clear he was not happy to see us. He dodged eye contact until I spoke to him, and it took us over 30 minutes to order 5 pieces of furniture. 5 pieces. When we already had the numbers down and everything. The employee helping us was even more condescending then the former, and made exaggerated gestures of impatience and boredom anytime I asked a question about their delivery process. After ordering everything, I confirmed with the employee that we had ordered everything to make up the queen sized bed set and two dressers (5 pieces total). He blatantly rolled his eyes for the 50th time or so, and said that we had ordered the entire thing. Upon leaving, my brother and I agreed that the service was quite bad, but hey, it's IKEA. Maybe this is typical for them. Our delivery date for furniture was about 10 and 15 days out since the store was out of 3 of the 5 items we wanted. Which, again, it's IKEA, so whatever. But IKEA doesn't limit their awful service abilities to their stores. Oh no. The stores terrible service standards paled in comparison to their delivery abilities. read more

i am apparently the only one in state who hadn't been to ikea until last week. so it's ikea. well the couches are cheap and i like cheap, though they are weirdly low to the ground. everything there is. do scandanavians crawl instead of walk? is their national average height 4'8"? things that impressed me: cheap couches, cheap dining room tables, cheap stemware in a handy six-pack (!!), and a cheap lamp. everything else i could take or leave, and i never really understood to have prints of places i've never been, and especially in my case, photographs i haven't taken myself. the kitchen setups there look really awesome, sleek modern and minimalistic but who is tearing out their whole kitchen for that kind of redo? they automatically lost a point for creepy food. i think the restaurant in costco/bjs is gross and this is the same feel. i just don't feel right buying food from a FURNITURE store. apparently that's a popular combination in MA, but that doesn't make it right. is that a swedish meatball or slimy sawdust rolled into a ball? read more

I want to give it 4 stars but the lamp incident is still a sore subject. Cool stuff cheap. You pay for what you get, so you need to decide when quality is more important than price. Kitchen: Not the place I would get pots and pans, but definitely a place I would get food storage containers, utensils that you need but barely use like a lemon zester, and possibly casual dinnerware. I did get their steak knives on the recommendation of my sister, but they suck. They get rust spots every time I put them in the dishwasher. Lesson: Buy good quality stainless steel flatware (look for signs that say 18/8 or 18/10, avoid 18/0 which usually means hand washing only recommended and RUST!) My IKEA Kitchen Items: small rice bowls that were 25 cents each (what a deal!), salad spinner (have yet to use it but it seemed like such a great buy), mason jars, food storage containers, glass spice jars, lemon zester, melon baller, ice cream scooper, yucky steak knives...hmmm, what else? Ok, let's move on... Furniture: Great place for what I call apartment furniture, but not the place I would furnish my entire home with. But you can definitely sneak in some end/side tables and a bookcase here and there. I got a decent wall unit/book case that is sitting in my living room and I am proud to say I put it together on my own. (Do I hear Beyonce?...Yeah, I'm an Independent Woman. heehee) If you do buy any of their tables (or anything you might put a cup on) that isn't solid wood, use coasters!! The veneer top will start to crack and peel off. My IKEA Furniture: bookcase, nightstand and cabinet from my apartment days, storage bench, and let's not forget the Poang chair (I think everyone owns one). Ok, let me take a deep breathe cause the bitch session is about to start. Lighting: Unless you plan to buy a lamp AND lamp shade at IKEA, avoid the madness of the lighting section. I found a floor lamp that I liked, but didn't like any of the lamp shades, so I only purchased the floor lamp. Wait, let's back up...I did find a lamp shade that I liked but it only came with a specific floor lamp (which I didn't like). I soon found out that the IKEA floor lamp I purchased was not compatible with standard U.S. lamp shades. There are 3 basic types of lampshades: clip, uno, and harp. I needed a uno lampshade which I found several that I liked at different stores. To my dismay, the hole for the non-IKEA lampshade I purchased didn't fit my lamp. IKEA's lamp shades do come with an adjustable clip for the hole so that it has a small hole for the smaller lamp bases and a large hole for the floor lamps. Neither hole is the same size as the U.S. "standard." In IKEA's defense, I know that they are not a US company, but still... OK, I'm getting upset re-living this, so I'm going to stop now even though there is more to this story. (If you are wondering why I didn't just return the lamp...I had already thrown away the original packaging.) Needless to say, I had to go back to IKEA to get one of their lampshades (that I didn't really like), for my damn IKEA floor lamp. I already invested money in the lamp (along with the matching table lamp), so I was not about to go out and buy another lamp. I just secretly hate my lampshade every time I walk into my living room. Along with the negativity, what is up with their carts???? I always get a workout maneuvering them because the wheels are always acting crazy. And it's not like I got a bad cart (like you might get at the supermarket). It's every freakin cart! I guess its good for toning up my arms. Let's end on a more positive note. Food Court: I have to admit...the meatballs are great along with some French fries and some Mountain Dew. And you know I'm dipping the French fries in the gravy, too. The mac n cheese isn't bad either. Not sure about the pre-made stuff like the salads though. If I didn't cover a department that means I haven't purchased anything from there, am tired of writing, or just don't have an opinion. Oh wait, I always have an opinion, so that means I haven't purchased any items from there or think this review is way too long already. But the question remains, why haven't I purchased an item from there??? read more

This IKEA is super big and also super far away from Boston. In general, I really like IKEA, and this IKEA is not much different. However, they do not have certain items in stock that are in stock at most other IKEA locations. Moreover, the live stock check online is not always reliable - I came here to buy a bunch of furniture, and one of the pieces of a table was out of stock, even though it had said it was in stock before we drove here, and so we eventually had to make a second trip. Why would just that piece be out of stock? Why?? read more

I've been to other IKEAs and I feel this one wasn't bad but it was not as cleverly put together as others. I like all the family friend parking/bathrooms plus areas for kids. I like the meatballs but it's just not as well together as I liked it. No staff seemed to be out that day read more

It's big and fun to walk through. Lots to take in and see. I saw babysitting and wheelchairs for those who needed it. There is plenty of parking and loading areas. The restaurant specials looked tasty but we didn't get anything this time. Long lines to pay but the wait wasn't too bad for a Saturday. The quality of the furniture isn't that great. More suitable for students or people on a budget. read more

Holy S**t-balls everybody! I went to Ikea tonight and i somehow loved it! I remember when the first week it opened, the news was all over the place! Now I realize why, it so f***ing aaaaaaaaaaammmmazing! The place looks like a super-center in Japan! The atmosphere is terrific...and the products are cool.....There are funky chairs, large armoise, and even little fixtures like light bulbs. Everything for the home, you can find it here...And the prices are cheap too...I over everything....I saw an awesome alarm clock that would've costed at least 30 bucks anywhere else...and i got it!! And another good thing, you'll be there so long, that they have a cafe too! The cafe has some of the best food out of a restaurant around! My brother got a Swedish almond chocolate cake for only a 1.29!!and it was so sweet! And you can get a breakfast for only a dollar, and a whole great meal, for only 4 bucks! The one drawback is that it is so hard to get out of there! I was sitting there like 'holy hell, move out of my f***ing way!!' it took like 10 minutes to just find the exit!! Dear IKEA, I'm getting married next week in my home. I purchased a large amount of furniture a month ago, in the hopes of having our home set up before the wedding date. We were told that you didn't have everything in stock, so we would need to go through the central warehouse. That was fine, it would take two weeks, we had time Our delivery date rolled around and we had the top to a desk delivered. Nothing else. We waited on the phone for four hours to be told that there was a computer error. Okay. You said it was fixed, our order was resubmitted and then low and behold our order doesn't show up again, on the new delivery date a week later. We waited on the phone for two hours to be told that our order was never picked. You don't know why it wasn't picked and there is nothing we can do except wait another week, for another delivery date. By the way the new delivery date is the day after my wedding. Your customer service is atrocious. And thank you for putting a wrench in my wedding plans. I look forward to waiting on the phone for another 2-4 hours next week, when our furniture inevitably doesn't show up and you tell me a dog ate it.... read more

In store people seem great. Delivery and phone-based customer service are a nightmare. Here's a copy of an email that I just sent to customer service: "Hi- My name is XXXXXXX and on June 24, I ordered $3k of furniture from your Stoughton store for delivery on July 8 between 2 and 6 pm (iSell nr XXXXXXXX). As of 6:45 that evening, the delivery truck had not arrived. My wife and I, having spent 4.75 hours waiting for delivery, and having made a prior engagement for that evening, left. We called Ikea Stoughton to inform them that we were leaving. They indicated that someone would contact us to schedule re-delivery. I tried calling once the following Monday and twice on Tuesday, each time waiting more than 30 mins on hold. Until my second call on Tuesday, I could not arrange for re-delivery. Finally, after spending over 50 minutes on the phone on second Tuesday call (I can provide phone records documenting this), I finally spoke to a manager who scheduled my re-delivery for Wednesday between 6 and 10pm. I'm writing to you at 10:30pm on Wednesday evening. The delivery truck has not arrived. I'm at my wit's end. Until this order, I've enjoyed very good experiences dealing with Ikea. Less than 1 year ago, I renovated my kitchen using Ikea products. Except for a very impertinent delivery person (who nearly started a fight over parking with some painters working on the exterior of my apartment building and demanded a tip from me), I found the experience delightful -- highly efficient, reliable and cost effective. This experience, including the 10+ hours of wasted time and 2 failed deliveries, has thoroughly diminished my estimation of your business. At this point, I'm uncertain as to how best to proceed. On the one hand, I'd like to believe that Ikea will find a way to restore my confidence in the quality of its service and brand. This was an amazing place to shop for interior things, such as beds, kitchens, living rooms, storage and much more. This place has wonderful staff and is very clean. The cafeteria is amazing and spacious. I even love the Family Club discounts for food. They have a tray holder that holds up to three trays of food. Even though the place is really big, they have a great directory of the place. The ware house is pretty big so before you go in to find your furniture you might want to either write down the numbers of the products or download the IKEA App which can help you keep track of your things you want. Overall this place is fun, enjoyable and just a amazing and splendid shopping experience. read more

IKEA is the place for you. It's an old joke, how do you say or spell crap or shit in Swedish? I-K-E-A. It's crap. Literally crap, it may look nice for a short period of time, but ultimately it's crap. You might make out better at semi crap stores, BOBs, but if you hard up for some cash and need something to just get you by, then this will suffice. If Home Depot sold some of this stuff, I would prefer to buy it from them as they seem to have customer service and stand behind their products. Yet another horrible delivery experience. I keep telling myself, "this time, it will be different." It never is. You will pay them $100+ to deliver your stuff. You will be given a delivery date and time. You will not get your stuff on that date (and the delivery company admits the delivery window provided by the store for that date is ignored anyway). You will be told IKEA will call you. They won't. When you call, you will be on hold for an hour and then be treated like shit. You will eventually be given a delivery window (but not until a minimum of 48-72 hours after your initial failed delivery). You will not get your stuff. You will, inevitably, be reduced to posting a Yelp review after getting drunk and admitting that you are small and impotent and can do nothing else. read more

The products are cheap and modern. The service is horrendus. I encountered one truly nice and sincere staff member there, Rose in the mattress department. The staff will generally ignore you and in many departments are non existent. I was talking to someone in the kitchen department about renovating. He asked me to hold on a minute, went to help another customer, and did not come back. Yeah, that happened. And I was watching him with that customer. We had been having a perfectly nice conversation, for all of 5 minutes. After he was gone for 15 minutes, I walked out. Ohhh yeah and that's a bad day for you buddy because I'm a mystery shopper. I've never in my life had someone be that rude. That's right up there with the people who answer the phone when you are talking to them at the counter, unacceptable, always. What the f. Zero customer service training here and you know IKEA has their own sweat shop somewhere. That's how cheap this stuff is. Good luck navigating this place if you are a newbie. The food was not good with the exception of the strawberry short cake. You can keep those frozen meatballs under the heat lamp and instant potatoes. That was ick, Never Again. read more

Ordered two sofas online. A delivery date was scheduled and I got a call the day before with the window the sofas would be delivered. Waited the four hours and no one showed up. Called Ikea and they said that I needed to contact the delivery company. Called XPO logistics and they said my order never made it on the truck and I would have to wait for a new delivery date. Once I received that I was to call them back to confirm my order was on the truck. So I foolishly waited, and called them to confirm my sofas were on the truck. With a half hour left in my window I called again and they assured me again that they would be delivered. At the end of my window I got a call, the delivery would be late and they gave me a new window. When they never showed I called them again, and they told me that my order was in fact not on the truck for delivery today. I have been on hold now with IKEA for almost an hour to try and cancel my order. So frustrating! read more

It's great for furniture, pillows, rugs, pictures, kitchen accessories, odds and ends and cheap hangers! It's so hard to find cheap hangers that are at least semi-decent!!!! So good. I heart Ikea. It is huge and full of fun furniture and housewares for your apartment. I could spend hours in this place, however I was pressed for time on this one occasion and had to choose fast which is very difficult when there were so many options and at fantastic prices. Keep in mind, if your weak like me, you need to bring someone strong. This is a do-it-yourself kind of place, you need to find the things you want in the warehouse but it is Great!! read more

Probably not contributing much by reviewing this IKEA but here goes. If you've seen one IKEA, you've pretty much seen them all. Its a pleasant yet disconcerting experience to visit a friend's place and say "is that from IKEA?" - the attractively modern yet completely generic offerings and store design of this Scandivanian company are its great advantage and disadvantage. No, after having been to this popular home furnishing store a dozen or so times in the past three years, its innumerable winding pathways leading past countless pieces of contemporary home decor and thoughtfully laid out room models has somewhat lost its charm. Having said that, you can bet your Ascot I'm going to continue to go here because inexpensive, fairly well-constructed, tastefully designed home furnishing is just that and a lot of a good thing is usually not a bad idea, just ask Apple and Uniqlo. read more

When I first moved here, I brought very little with me and I needed a lot of basic things. I decided to go to IKEA to get a few things to make my room look a little less plain. I do like decorative stuff they sell, especially the posters. The stuff IKEA sells is a good deal if you don't pay for shipping. I only ended up using about half of the things I bought at IKEA, because some of it broke quickly or was impractically designed. read more

i have reoccuring dreams about ikea. i think thats a good thing. most of my apartment is furnished with ikea stuff. i love the modern look of the merch. i wish they would get an Ikea in somerville but those cheap redneck locals are making it rather difficult. definalty check out this store if you want to have an apartment with style. Although thier prices reflect thier quality some times, dont let that get in the way; and you definatly need to hit up the meatballs or cinibuns befor or after shopping too. plan a good 3 hours for these stores! read more

I've got love for Ikea and it's cheapness.. I am saving for a house and Ikea has helped me out in helping my current place feel more like a home I want to be in rather than a ghetto fabulous college dorm filled with 2nd and 3rd hand furniture. I really like the lighting, kitchen & bedding departments - they have really cute stuff at amazing (lower than Wal-Mart) prices! I guess I am lucky because generally I do like Ikea's flow and style.. I recommend going on a weeknight to avoid crowds and bad parking.. and I like getting a soft-serve on my way out! read more

This wasn't my first trip to IKEA, but this was my first trip that included a lunch at their in-house cafeteria. So I figured I'd leave a review on that. It was a Sunday middle of the day, on our way back from New Hampshire for a weekend getaway. We stopped in to get a bookshelf for my three-year-old's room, Ended up picking up about 400 other little things I never knew I needed at the same time. And since we were there right around the lunch hour, it only seemed obvious to stop and get some Swedish meatballs. Of course, the lady at the entrance handing out samples of Swedish meatballs Helped make our decision. The cafeteria was packed, but the lines moved quick, and the food was hot, and very affordable. If you go to the Customer Service counter and you know the model of the furniture you have they can get the hardware piece for you. I love Ikea! It's perfect for broke ass college students like me. I used to go to Jordan's Furniture and visit the furniture I couldn't ever afford to buy, but now I can just go to Ikea & buy stuff. I bought 2 dressers, a bookshelf, a wine rack, a lazy susan, a wok, and some very funky silicon ice trays (they look like puzzle pieces & stars). I've really enjoyed all the stuff I bought there. The dressers are really sturdy and nice looking (they're from the Malm collection). My bf put them together for me and he said it was pretty easy. The store was a little over crowded, but we survived. Plus I got an Ikea credit card & no one ever wants to give me a credit card. I just got an Ikea gift card for Xmas so I'll be going back there soon. read more

The prices are good, but you need to be willing to spend the whole day there with a high stress tolerance. The place is packed on the weekend so you have to go with the (slow) flow of people through the store. We walked away at the end of the day with only half of what we really needed. Couldn't find a couch that worked for us (try Cort for better quality and prices and way closer to the city). Pretty much what we expected from ikea. read more

They were nearly 5 hours late and I couldn't get a hold of anyone to figure out what was going on. At one point I was on hold for an hour. Sears and Jordans deliver way better. I love IKEA. Where else can you find all sorts of housewares, at varying price points, that you get to put together yourself! Also, you have to go through the place in a one-way maze formation. Yes, it is crowded, but when you need a coffee table, and want variety, it is a good place to start. We just moved into a new condo, and were able to fill in the new furniture we needed, get some rugs to absorb all that noise we make, and replace all the wine glasses I keep breaking (whoops). Well, two out of three of our bookcases were machined incorrectly, and thus were impossible to assemble. I do like ikea for all of the great organizing and functional furniture BUT trying to contact someone is AWFUL!!!!!!!! Yesterday I bought a ton of the besta series. I wanted to get white legs for my new furniture but in place of white legs I found aluminum legs. White legs were nowhere to be found. A man assisted me and said they were probably all the way on the top and he wouldn't be able to get them. He told me call back tomorrow. I did that. NOBODY ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then a recording comes on and asks if you need further assistance please press pound but then they hang up on you before you can even press pound!!! I am a confirmed IKEA customer. I buy into the flat-pack philosophy, I enjoy the innovative and clever designs, I appreciate the low prices. I like the positive (corporate) attitude and concern for making the world better. But the Stoughton store has become an ugly stain on IKEA's reputation. On a recent visit, about a third of the items I looked at were missing their shelf tags. When I went to scan them using the in-store price scanners, most were out of order. Some displays were empty, on a weekday approaching the busy weekend. The store is shabby, the restrooms are grubby and in need of repair, and the non-specialist employees look harassed and have no interest in helping customers (the specialists are the ones who design kitchens and the like; they're more engaged). Overall, the store seemed understaffed and poorly taken care of. Pay attention, IKEA US. This store has decayed into a Scandinavian Walmart. Please fix it. read more

This review is for online ordering. I try not to be the guy who only writes bad reviews, but this time I had to. I like Ikea stuff and if you came to my house you would see a house full of it. In the past I have always driven to the store to make purchases; this week I was too busy, so I tried online ordering. Bottom line: Don't do it! They dropped one of my items, and a week later I still hadn't been able to contact them. Apparently the shipping label "fell off" the box, and in that case the merchandise is returned to the warehouse, meaning I would never get my package that I had paid for. Nice! Their customer service line says right at the 9:00 opening time that they are "experiencing high call volume" which tells me they simply don't employ enough representatives. I tried calling them. The first day, the rep assured me that my package would come. I believed her. The second day, I was stonewalled. After waiting on the phone for 70+ minutes without call completion, I gave up. When I tried to register a complaint by email through their website, the response was a page that loaded to say "Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again." Finally, today, the third day, I got through after another half hour of waiting, and spoke to a supervisor who promised to rectify the situation. We'll see. I hope that if you can avoid online ordering from Ikea, you can get what you want without the hassle. Honestly, going to the store with all the people and screaming kids would have been easier. read more

We waited in line at 10:30 on a Saturday morning for breakfast...20 minutes later, we got to the front if the line. SOLD OUT. No apology, no explanation, no breakfast. If we wanted lunch, we were expected to go back to the end of the lunch line! Horrible way to treat customers. read more

We went into Stoughton/Avon, MA IKEA to look at the different kitchen design options with a general idea of what we were looking for. We had no scheduled appointment, however they were able to fit us in. We sat down with Arunas Z., the kitchen design specialist, and he was phenomenal. He had a great plan for our kitchen with a great balance of design, utility, and price. He made recommendations from the type of cabinets to the drawers and the whole look of our kitchen. Things like under-counter lighting was included at a great price, which we thought would be out of our budget. We also added a built in dishwasher with a panel to match the cabinets. Honestly, he was amazing all the way down to the faucets and the sink. Arunas made sure to remind us about the big picture from how the floors, walls, and the rest of the house tied into the overall kitchen design. He told us he's been doing this for nearly 15 years and we sure felt that. We've designed kitchens before but its never been this easy and this affordable. Thank you Arunas Z, you blew us away!!! We for sure won't be running away from this kitchen. read more
