I love this IKEA location! I had previously bought some furniture from here - daybed & dresser - which are holding up wonderfully! What prompted this review is my absolute joy at the variety of options and price point of various jars and containers sold at this store. I have completely redone my kitchen, getting rid of all bags/boxes products come in and replacing them with glass jars of all shapes and sizes. You simply cannot beat the prices IKEA sells these products at. I have shopped in store and also placed two click & collect orders and have been thoroughly pleased with my experiences. The staff here are so friendly and helpful and the store is very well maintained. This is an exceptional store for all your home furniture and organization needs! read more

One of the sad things about moving from Austin to San Antonio was no more Ikea around the corner. I was actually giddy to be here. I'm sure it will be a madhouse for at least a couple months but they seem to have a ton of staff to help. Everywhere I turned there were happy helpful staff. They were in the parking lot directing traffic, at the door, stationed through the store, in the warehouse and every checkout was opened. They were very cheery and kind. If you're used to other Ikea's be aware that the grocery section at the end by the registers no longer have their own checkout. You need to shop that section before you check out unless you want to wait through the checkout line a second time (trust me, you don't). The worst part is the check out line but they do have staff there to help you find the shortest line. AND hopefully, you're so happy with all your great new finds that the line isn't a big deal. The credit card machines were running a bit slow but I guess that's to be expected. The check out the crew is also clearly still learning too so be patient with them. This Ikea recently opened and it almost looks like any other ikea. Although, for some reason, this location seem to be a bit smaller and more cramped than the ones in Houston or Round Rock. Even the rooms they have displayed with all of their seem smaller than usual, but they make it work! The restaurant looked a bit smaller as well but shouldn't be a problem because their food is good and cheap! Of course you can find all the usual Ikea products that any other location has, so that's a great thing about it! No more driving over 100 miles from San Antonio to the nearest ikea store! IKEA sucks. I ordered a TV credenza and some of the main parts used to hold everything together stripped and cracked off. That's because they're made of cheap plastic instead of iron. Now I get to call ikea and try and get replacement parts. Horrible customer experience after attempting calling the store numerous times after being hung up on and put on endless hold times (48 minutes). I'm left with a pile of sawdust and no way to use it. This IKEA is nothing like the Round Rock Texas location. They don't have enough items in stock and most of all most of staff act like you are bothering them! I purchased a sofa recently and had to make three trips back to store because either the nuts and bolts missing from box or they placed wrong sofa cover in wrong place and made it confusing. When I tried to go back and get missing hardware they made it such a big deal but finally tossed a bag on the counter. I'm not a fan of Swedish Kmart but I thought I'd do it this once because my wife wanted to go. I will think twice before I go back to this location. read more

I was shopping there last week with my sister who was told by an employee the item she wanted was out of stock but would come in on Aug 5. We went on Aug 6 and item was not on shelf and an employee named Naomi told us item was not expected. We told her what other employee said and she immediately went into action and pulled a display item down for us. There were about 10 display items and she got a ladder and got one for us. She was courteous and professional. She truly went out of her way to assist us. The process for returning a mattress is the worst experience I've ever had as a consumer. I spoke to two representatives that confirmed I would get a full refund to my form of payment. When I arrived, not only did I not get help from the personnel but I was told that that information was inaccurate and we would get a gift card as we were not exchanging the bed. The policy states "Love it or exchange it: Terms and Conditions It is important to us that you love your new mattress. So if after a while you discover that it is too firm, too soft or too something else just bring the mattress back and simply change it for another. Please note that initially, your new mattress can seem a bit too firm. Allow 90 days for your body to get used to the mattress and for the mattress to get used to your body. To get the best comfort you also need the right pillow. Make sure you have a pillow that suits you and your new mattress. If you are not satisfied with the mattress after 90 days of adjustment, bring the mattress to the store. We exchange it to another mattress once. Dirty, marked, or damaged mattresses cannot be replaced. Bring your purchased mattress and receipt to the IKEA store to help you find the right product for you. I am not sure why I was not granted what customer service promised and am not satisfied with a gift card. I would like my full refund returned to the form of payment I paid with. I work with many businesses and government entities and will absolutely not recommend IKEA furniture to them. IKEA customer service ends when you newly purchase something and walk out the door. This place is a swamp of incompetency. They sent me 2 phone confirmations today that they would deliver my furnishings between 1pm and 5pm. So, I left the office to wait and wait and wait. So I called to track the drivers. The first time I called, I was on hold for over 50 minutes and the call got disconnected. No one had even answered. All that time was on hold. Then, I called back. . It took 50 plus minutes to talk to someone. They then told me that the things I purchased did not get on the delivery truck. So why the F did they call me twice to confirm the delivery. They transferred me to the IKEA Resolutions Department, which is a monument to incompetency as well. They transferred me around and each time I had to provide my phone, address, and email. The person was a basket of uselessness. So I called a third time. I asked to speak to a manager. I was on hold 45 minutes plus before a manager answered. She said she couldn't help me. She said she would have to transfer me to the Resolutions Department. No thank you. I already spoke to the clown in that department. Since you can't call the store directly, I had to drive to the store. It's been 15 minutes since I explained the issue to the manager; so here I am again waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Finally, the guy helping me said he has arranged for the delivery the next morning at 9am. I would be the first stop on the delivery route. The next day: 9am came and went. At 10:02 I spoke to the Resolutions Department at the local IKEA at the local store. I was given a direct extension to call locally when I left the store yesterday evening. I explained to the Ikea employee the whole back story and that I was waiting for the new delivery and that it was an hour overdue. She asked for time to look into it. She returned my call letting me know my delivery would be between 9am and 1pm. I explained that the "manager" who helped me yesterday told me that I would be the first stop on the route this morning. So she gave me the number to North American Logistics, but not the local number. So I called 951.809.6233 and it stated that the user of this phone has a voice mail that has not been set up. Really? Was I even given the correct number? There wasn't any greeting to say I was calling North American Logistics. A few seconds later that same number called me beck. He said he was with Luke's, not North American Logistics. That I was given the wrong number by Ikea locally. He was able yo give me the number to the drivers supervisor (Matt) at North American Logistics. Matt stated that he was unaware of me being a first stop, that no one at Ikea spoke to him about the situation, and if his company was aware, he would be aware because he manages the local entire driver operations. So then, how did Ikea commit to delivering at 9am? Did they even ever pick up the phone yesterday to call their logistics partner? I asked Matt to tell me where drivers are because I have IKEA's TaskRabbit partner showing up at 11:30am. Matt, the Logistics manager stated that he would have to look into it and call me back. I said he should be able to tell me right away where my freight is by knowing where the drivers are. He said that I didn't understand logistics and that's not how it works. I explained to him that I know logistics because I have managed transportation and logistics, including millions of square feet of warehouse space. Any basic logistics company has a should have real time visibility to orders. Matt called back and said that Ikea cancelled the order this morning and they weren't given any freight to load. So here I F'ing am. Calling the clowns at Ikea again at the Live Oak store. No drivers, no freight, conflicting information, failed deliveries in spite of them confirming the first delivery and then the second failed again delivery. Ikea confirmed that the freight didn't get loaded this morning. So that makes 2 days in a row that the freight didn't get loaded, and was told both days it was out for delivery. Ikea locally is unable to get North American Logistics to come back to the store to pick up the freight. I have given my money to Ikea and all while they have grossly mismanaged my order. Two days chasing my paid in full order, hours on the phone, talking to about a dozen people at this point. Leaving the office, traveling an hour across town to sit and wait each day, taking time out of my schedule. This store is a joke! read more

I really, really like the layout of this Ikea! It is all on one level. When you walk in, there is a seating area to your right, shopping carts and dolly carts for the larger items. The restroom is found here, as well as the kids club. You can drop your kids off while you go shopping! And if you are an Ikea Family Member.. you get an extra 30 minutes! They also have lockers, in case you would like to lock anything up while you shop.. hands free. When you first start the layout, you'll pass through multiple rooms and setups to show you different pieces of Ikea furniture, and how to make it work in a certain amount of square footage. Then you start getting into the furniture, which leads you to the food court, then keep going through bathroom, lighting, art, pillows, rugs, etc, until you end up in the self serve area. This is where you pick up larger items. There is a marketplace where you can find Swedish goods, the As Is section - where everything is half off - because Ikea has the best return policy ever! 365 day return with original receipt. But you can find some fun things in this section too!! Head to the cashiers, then right on the otherside of the cashiers is the quick service food stand, with self service condiments, sodas and Icees. This has to be my favorite Ikea that I have been to, to date. The staff is super friendly and extremely helpful as well! I can imagine the weekends here get insane, but if you go on an evening around 7PM during the week, we had almost the whole store to ourself, I mean there was people there, but it felt like no one was shopping. read more

The fact this bad boy is literally on the other side of IH-35 from my homebase makes this place easy way to access anytime of day. Which is nice, because I can go during the week when the crowds don't make the trek to the otherside of San Antonio, or to San Antonio in general. I love this place for its minimalist style of furniture. Feeds my spirit of missing Europe so badly. The food is always awesome, meatballs are where it's at! First of all, it's all on one level. The walking is endless. They say their are short cuts, but you could have fooled me. It's like walking 2 football fields. Boring after a few twists and turns. And where are the emergency exits? That was a real worry for me. This place is made up of flammable materials, easy to imagine the devastation and panic if a fire broke out. The product selection is inexpensive and Chinese made in cheapness. I have been in other IKEAS in other states and they are laid out much better 2-3 stories. Giving the customer a break from the monotony. I decided not to buy anything at this store. I would rather spend a little more for better quality items somewhere else. When I called IKEA to see if I could get a replacement part for my bed, I called the number, and went through their convoluted menu options, only to get hung up on. I called back, made it through the entire menu, only to never get a human on the phone. Unfortunately, the employees, on several visits now, have all seemed disinterested, disengaged and not happy while we have been walking through Ikea. This is the restaurant only. We got the Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Some salmon (fresh) with salad as appetizer. Our drinks were iced tea and coffee. Our food was cold and just not very good. The potatoes tasted like instant. The frozen yogurt by the check out was good and only 130 calories. IKEA is a store I like to hit up about once a month. They have cheap furniture, that is also quality. I pretty much have made IKEA my primary stop for all my furniture needs. I have purchased a kitchen table, entertainment centers, bookshelves, beds, mattresses, and I could go on and on. Their furniture comes in compact boxes, so even smaller cars can typically fit larger furniture at ease. Unfortunately, the fact that their furniture is compact comes at a price. The furniture needs to be built, and typically it's in many small pieces. The instructions are AWFUL, so putting these pieces together can be a nightmare. However once its put together you can feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. The furniture is well built, and well worth it. IKEA also has a daycare where you can drop your children off for an hour while you shop in peace. It's a win win for kids/parents. Parents can shop in peace without boring their kids, while the kids can play and make friends. Their kids area is very secure and the employees take great care of the kids. IKEA is one of the most unique furniture stores you will ever visit and I cant recommend it enough. Pros: Great furniture at a great price. Fantastic child care service while you shop. Compact furniture which is easily transportable even in the most compact of vehicles. Just all around an enjoyable place to look around at. Cons: The instructions can be very confusing, and the time it takes to put the furniture together can sometimes be exhausting. read more

The employee today at the PAX area of IKEA was on his cell phone and did not want to be interrupted. He was rude, condescending and sarcastic. His negative demeanor was very unprofessional. He rushed his answers, was not helpful and repeated what he had already said which showed he was not paying attention to what we were asking and he did not seek to understand. This review probably isn't as accurate as it should be, mostly because we went on opening weekend. We are anticipating going back in a few months when things calm down to try the restaurant out. If you've never been to Ikea, here's a warning: Ikea's winding path through their various show rooms and inventory can amount to a casual minimum of 1.75 miles. So be kind to yourself and wear shoes on the comfy side and bring along a bottle of water. Considering the mob that was present, the staff were super helpful and present. It wasn't very hard to find one when I needed it, and even having just casually talked to some walking through Ikea - I may have talked to a lot. And, I love that! Besides the fact that we don't have to drive to Houston or Austin to visit Ikea, I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the restaurant. Contrar to other reviews, I felt it was bigger and definitely did not feel small. I really enjoyed they positioned it along an outer wall so the eating space could have windows & natural lighting. As I was walking out, I heard somebody say they couldn't believe I had bought something. Yes, rude teenager. I literally just walked 2 miles through human furniture and literally walked out the door with furniture... FOR MY CAT!!!! Ikea did their grand opening right and I love them for it. I enjoy coming here to browse, but I also come to eat their food. The food is not WOW, but it is simple and decent. I usually get the swedish meatballs and a daim cake. I really like the daim cake!! They have plenty of seating in the cafeteria. The price of the food is reasonable as well. Parking can be a pain as well. The first time I came, there was no parking, and so they were guiding us to the mall nearby to take a shuttle. We just went home because it was a hassle just to go shopping. I don't come here very often, but when I do come it is usually to come eat. They do have a variety of furniture and decor and most at reasonable prices. We waited the better part of a month to hit this new IKEA in our area. I knew it'd be crazy crowded. We went during spring break...along with a ton of other people, but the place is so HUGE, it wasn't as bad as we'd feared as we cruised the parking lot looking for a spot. It was like other IKEAS. Great room set ups.. Organizational tips/tools.. cute furniture and decor. Very Euro-feel, as expected. The staff was SUPER helpful in every way. They were keeping the store in shape/tidy as we wandered around. Thank GOD there are arrows on the ground guiding us through the store, or I mat still be circling the kitchen supplies! THANK YOU; IKEA! As we checked out, our cashier informed us about the IKEA FAMILY program to offer us future discounts.(Check the app & sign up for free barcode, or sign up at a kiosk in store.) Also, we were able to DOUBLE check inventory at Cust.Svc. for a product color we wanted but needed to order. It was my first time here. I guess it's great if you know what you need. I didn't need anything and just browsed to see what the big deal was. Never saw an employee once thru the big maze. Luckily my hubby was with me who had been in one before. I think I'd just order it online and pick up. It's like Willy Wonka and Chocolate factory, but instead of candy it's everything for your home. I would have bought bar stools, but saddle shape was not offered. I did like the waffle weave towel, but only two colors offered. I'll check online. Too much to look at. First and foremost, this place is less of a store and more of a destination spot. You can find just about everything you need for a home in this place; you can find everything from plates and dishes to curtains and beds and most products are pretty reasonably priced. But just so you know, you will most likely get lost in the matrix as this place is set up in different, maze-like sections with small entrance/exit points (great place to lose those annoying relatives). If you fancy some food, the restaurant is a decent choice. They are low on entree choices, mostly meatballs, salmon and chicken tenders, but all are rather tasty. The soda choices are bottled Pepsi, bottled Diet Pepsi and some third party fountain drinks. They also don't have paper cups, instead supplying glass drinking glasses and also do not have straws because they "are harmful to the environment" according to one employee. (I suppose they have not heard of bio-degradable or plant-based straws) The complaints most seem to have are directly related to relative novelty of the store, I'm sure all of that will subside once that goes away, including the parking situation and the stock supply problems which seem to be the most common concerns. Overall the place is quite interesting and you will find plenty of fun and interesting things to see and buy. Oh but don't be fooled by the Swedish signage, the words aren't always representative of what is being displayed but they're interesting to see. Just a warning, this store does display both the 30.06 and 30.07 signage which is very concerning since that leaves patrons defenseless against criminals who could care less about that anti-gun sentiment by store owners, so shoppers beware. On the bright side as I alluded to earlier, there are plenty of hiding places in the matrix. I'd recommend visiting at least once. read more
