When you go to IKEA your mood changes. We got there around 11A from S Austin. When we started our walk around it was actually pretty calm. Not crowded as it would be on the weekends. There were a couple of rooms that were being redesigned and a lot of winter sale items. I was able to get ideas for different rooms in our apartment, as one who might. The best part of this trip was looking at a lamp in the one of the rooms, and as we made it to the end we stopped in the As Is section and I saw the lamp that was regular price $149.99 and on sale for $99.99. Then the real surprise came when I turned a corner and saw it for $69.99! All I can say is make sure you keep your eyes open and walk around because you will find those deals. They only had self service registers, I miss having regular cashiers. An associate helped me get the lamp in the cart. If you change your mind on items, they have baskets right beside it that you can toss in there. At the end of the trip I went and bought a hot dog for $1, it was just a regular one. The condiments were self service to the side and I saw mustard, Swedish mustard and ketchup. I would have liked to have some relish but that didn't happen. read more

IKEA has a lovely selection of furniture. The store is huge and they offer such a wide variety compared to a lot of other furniture stores. I love how customizable the pieces are and especially that they have design centers to envision what you would like. Not to mention that they also include a ton of affordable options as well. It's great to shop here especially with the helpful staff. They're are always workers around ready to assist you in any way. The store is phenomenally clean and organized as well as the food court. Great IKEA! I've only gone on weekdays so I'm not sure if it's crazy on weekends, but on weekdays it's been great and not crowded. Good showroom and normal selection in the store. I looked online before going and most items were in stock at this location. I do think there have been some price increases compared to years ago with IKEA, but in my opinion they still have awesome finds and nice design with good/acceptable quality. I think you just have to know what you're needing before going in because there's definitely a lot of opportunity for impulse shopping. I absolutely love IKEA and feel so grateful to have one in San Antonio! This IKEA location has now been open for a couple of years (I think it opened during the pandemic) and it's by far my favorite IKEA store in Texas. Before the opening of this location many of us had to either drive to Round Rock or Houston to get some IKEA furniture which was a pain in the butt. Since their opening, this location has stayed super consistent and they almost always have everything you are looking for in stock and the store stays very well organized. Please keep in mind that I NEVER visit this store over a weekend or during major holidays. However, if you visit on a weekday I can assure you, you'll have the most amazing experience and won't feel like you are fighting the crowds. If you are looking for a great deal, they have a section of returned items or things that have a small scratch or have been opened. Usually those items are about 50% off and many of them are in great condition. I also like that they offer curbside pick-up which is great for those of us who don't feel like fighting the crowds and already know what you want. Highly recommend this location but please keep in mind that currently i35 is under construction so you might have a little trouble getting in and out of this place during rush hours. read more

I had never been to Ikea before this trip. The only reason I was going was to pick up something my daughter needed. She loves the place and thought I would get a kick out of it. So off we went. Unfortunately, getting to this location is how this ended up being a 3 star review. I-35 and Loop 1604 are both under reconstruction and getting here is awful. I guess the only good thing is that we went on a weekday and during the time when most folks are working. This store has a huge parking lot and very few cars were in it. That made parking a breeze. In fact, we got nearly in the front door:) Walking up, we grabbed a basket (baskets have 4 wheel steering which took some getting used to) and walked in. We had no idea what we were doing, so we just started walking. The store is huge, so when you don't know where what you are looking for is located, it turns into a long treasure hunt. We finally found a computer that we could enter what we are looking for, and it told us where it was. Unfortunately, we had no idea where that was. After looking for a while longer, my wife noticed an employee and flagged them down. She was real helpful and told us to go that way and turn right when we passed the plants. It would have been nice if she just walked us to the area. Oh well, service is not what it used to be. We finally located what we were looking for, picked up 8 of them, and started to head for checkout. Signage for checkout was very good. We did self-checkout and got out quickly. Will I return? Probably not until the road construction is finished, but I do want to go back. read more

Everytime I go to IKEA, I go for the meatballs and end up coming up with ideas to redecorate my entire home. They always have sales in their candles and art sections and they smell and look great. The service is important and they take care of their customers one year they had fake snow falling off their roof during holidays. The value is obvious and they are cheaper than even target. If you can't find what you need in the store you can get it delivered. I go back often and enjoy this place! read more

Always a good place to stop in for ideas! I've been to this IKEA a number of times and have never had a bad experience. The restrooms are always clean, the dining areas are always quick with your orders, the food is inexpensive but really yummy, and the store is almost always stocked with what you're looking for. If they don't have what you need, they're great about shipping it to the store or helping you put it on hold at the Roundrock location if you're willing to make the drive. I've purchased a couple of display cases, Billy bookshelves, and Lack tables over the years and have had minimal issues. The display cases are sleek and look great in our living room and I've turned the Lack tables into a shelving unit of sorts after a few years of using them as side tables. The only two complaints I really have are the price almost doubling on the display cases recently, and my most recent Billy bookshelf. The pop in brads holding up the shelves themselves have broken through the particle board frame from the weight of the books. I've not had this issue before, but I've noticed that the design has been updated ever so slightly from my older Billy bookshelves. Maybe I got a bad product, or maybe the new design just isn't as reliable. Either way, it sucks that the shelf collapsed. Overall, I'd recommend this IKEA for its cleanliness and that fact that they're almost always stocked. Always keep in mind that a lot of their stuff is particle board which can get dinged up pretty easily, but that's what makes those products so cheap. If nothing else, it's always fun to stop in to get some interior decorating ideas! read more

I tried the salmon fillet ($9), cod ($8), meatballs, and plantains ($4)! The cod was my favorite. It was flavorful, moist and had a nice crumb on top! You can substitute the peas for the mixed veggies if you would like. The salmon fillet was smaller than the picture shows and a little more dry. Make sure you get the sauce! Meatballs are flavorful as always! The plantains were delicious! Very expensive at $1 per small slice, but so much flavorful and sweetness. I went in Friday when they have 50% off hot entrees. Based on the quality and portion of food, I think the 50% price is reasonable! A little pricy if you were to buy it full price. If you go on Tuesdays, all entree are $3.99! I also got a veggie dog. It looked like the price went back down to 60 cents, but that's because you have to buy the toppings (fried onions and pickled red onions) separately. They have some really beautiful furniture you can order it and assembled or you can purchase it and have them deliver it and assemble it for you. Pro tip, go on Fridays for half off hot entrees during lunch! Each plate was around $5! We tried: -Meatballs 4.5/5: tried and true! a swedish staple and so yummy. The lingonberry sauce pairs well and the mashed potatoes are saved by the generous helping of gravy. -Salmon 3/5: very dry and flavorless. Saved by the tomato-based sauced poured on top -Cod 5/5: SO GOOD! Our favorite! well seasoned and tender. Love IKEA! Furnished both of the children's rooms. Most of everything is AFFORDABLE. Love how well you can organize everything. Wish I could have an ikea kitchen. Location/Parking: IKEA is located in the Live Oak area in a developing shopping area. There are tons of parking at IKEA. Food: Come grab lunch while you shop for furniture. Be aware that the cafeteria is located smacked in the middle of IKEA. Get the meatballs! The chocolate cake is also worth getting for your sweet tooth craving. Merchandise: IKEA is a huge showroom so give yourself a couple of hours to go through each space. Once you decide what you want, you'll get a slip with all the information on it and take it near the checkout area where you'll get the items yourself. Assistance is pretty minimal around the showroom especially in the bedroom set area. Overall, it is an experience to come to IKEA! I recommend having lunch here and get the meatballs. this store was amazing. everyone was so helpful and eager to assist when asked a question. prices were incredible and the assortment was insane. it was so clean and organized very neatly. even the bathrooms were perfect and they have free feminine products (pads and tampons) in the ladies bathroom. customer service is just top tier. onto the lil food section. Swedish meatballs and mashed potatoes covered in that cream sauce was very yummy for food in an ikea. chicken tender plate with fries were really good as well. the crunch on those tenders were something else. garlic toast was a 10/10. i wasn't a big fan of the mac n cheese and probably wouldn't get it again. the chocolate cake and the almond crunch were delicious. i didn't really like the apple one because the texture of it was just too mushy and felt weird being cold, it wasn't an issue with flavor. if going again my order would be the chicken tender plate with fries, side of Swedish meatballs, slice of garlic toast, and a slice of chocolate cake for dessert. read more

Don't recommend this place at all. It's very affordable, so for someone with a low budget on furnishing their own home I know this can be a great place to go get your furniture at, but it doesn't matter how great their prices are. Their customer service SUCKS A**! Every time I go to their stores, I see someone fighting, a customer is always fighting to either get their money back, or change some thing they bought before. I honestly believe they don't have a good warranty on their products, especially when considering how low the quality they produce is. There are plenty of workers in yellow shirts and could always ask for directions if you get turned around. They have a variety of products for babies, kids, teens, to adults. I would not say the pieces are long-lasting but if you need to fill in a space quickly they offer a wide selection of items. The designs are modern and clean. They have a lot of room for mock-ups with easy-to-read tags. If an item is out of stock it will have a label saying temp unavailable. The prices range from low to high depending on the item. For this trip, I purchased a couple of rugs for $13 each, a set of wooden hangers for $9, and a wooden art figure model for $10. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but these had caught my eye. Compared to amazon the prices are about the same. For those looking for bargains, there is a clearance section right next to the checkout. I would suggest stopping by and seeing what they have. Customer service is definitely a dying art these past months. IKEA was no exceptions. Rosalyn (?) was our cashier and we didn't mind her cleaning the station before checking us out, no problem. As we were wrapping our breakables (because they don't do that for you), she didn't even let us know that she put our change on the counter, as we paid in cash. The person behind us looked at us like, wow I can't believe she did that. It was our sentiments exactly. Everytime I come to Ikea, I find something I love. The only downfall of this Ikea is that they are out of stock on a lot of popular, and sometimes just normal, products. I can't put the blame solely on Ikea for that. But if you see something you like, you have to pick it up then and there. It might not be there next time. I like to stop for meatballs on some trips. They are not the best meatballs I've ever had but for 7 bucks, it's a great meal! They also sometimes have deals like Meatball Happy Hour where you get $2 off meatball plates on Tues-Thur from 3-5pm. Wow- where do I start?? We purchased an under mount sink that was installed in September 2020. Seven months later, the sink cracked (photo attached). I wrote Ikea a letter requesting replacement. They asked for a photo, I sent it THREE times because they claimed to never have received until one of the reps finally acknowledged receipt when I got on the phone with her. Never heard back after the acknowledgment. I wrote again THREE more times asking for the status of my case and to this day, August 2021, no one has resolved the issue. I ended up going to the store and spoke to Chris, the store manager. He would not replace the damaged under mount sink unless I took it to the store. This is an under mount sink!!!! This requires professional installation which costs money. He kept saying it was policy with no regard to how much it would cost us to remove the damaged sink in order to get a replacement and again have to pay to install the new sink. I honestly could not believe what I was hearing. Policy??? What about using common sense and doing the right thing?!? Will I ever purchase from Ikea again? Hell no! read more

So far everything I've gotten has been at a great or fair price and their return policy is pretty flexible in case I have buyer's regret. The layout and showrooms are awesome as you can visualize their products in real world settings.
