I love ikea for the variety especially when it comes to color choices but I feel like the quality has gone down. A lot of things we were looking at where peeling, rough fabrics, or poorly put together (material wise). The silverware I bought a couple years ago was only 4.99 and now was 56.99 for the SAME set. I couldn't believe it. Their plants and as is section is pretty much why I come here. I believe their plants are fairly priced, especially the big trees because I've seen them for $100 plus at other places and they're only $50 here. The as is section is awesome also, I always find stuff in there and 99% of the time the stuff is working properly and has no marks. You do sadly have to fight people to look in there. Even with covid it was a mad house, they weren't really taking any precautions and no one was following what small precautions they did have. I've been here three times already and haven't reviewed it yet. I've never needed help finding anything because everything I've wanted was in stock and I would already be stalking IKEA's website beforehand, so I knew where to go. We've purchased a couch, entertainment center, a bed frame, a dresser and 3 side tables - we love them all. Even better? We love the cheap prices. We just moved here and desperately needed to furnish our home on a budget. Thank goodness for IKEA! To add: The place is huge and allows for lots of people at once. I've read in other reviews that it gets crowded, but I honestly haven't experienced that at this location. Checkout was fast, friendly and easy. WOW Is all I can say!!! Being that I use to work at IKEA BROOKLYN NY I was expecting the same experience as a coworker. But being on the other side I really enjoyed myself. The showroom was so clean and neat. The market place was organized so well. Self serve was always nice and neat. I'm just In shock how everything was so well put together. All of the workers we interacted with was very friendly. The food was just as good as I remember from working there. We ordered chicken tenders fries w gravy and broccoli, meatballs, mash and broccoli side order Mac and cheese with garlic toast. Of course the lingonberry juice was good ! I can't wait to go back I only purchased a stool for my son although I came in looking for a mattress and box spring. When shopping at IKEA it's an all day thing. You've been to one Ikea, you've been to them all. Walk through a winding route of things you don't want or need. To get to the things you set out to get. Then watch most everyone walk out with a cart full of stuff. I just needed some plates and some bowls. That's all I got. I could go to Walmart to get plates and bowls, but ikeas quality is better. Super happy to finally have an option in between San Antonio and Round Rock now that this IKEA location has been built in the Live Oak area. Boy was it a trip following the frontage road signs off of IH-35 to get to the parking lot here. Be sure to read and follow the instructions or you will be in for a loop around to either 1604 or back on to IH-35 if you are not careful! HA! This location feels slightly smaller than the Round Rock but I could be wrong. However, all displays and the availability of items here beat Round Rock's IKEA even though they both vary in their inventory. I do appreciate all employees are masked up and encouraging people to mask up while they shop as well. Parking is super easy here and easy to get out of. If you come during the weekend expect it to be super busy as there is always a wait at the cash registers when checking out. During the week I noticed it was calm and no wait. Love to see many other food spots and retailers popping up literally down the street from this IKEA as it makes it easy for a 1 or 2 shop stop when you are in the area. read more

Workers all wore masks - Each section is well organized and easy to explore - Love how you can cut through certain parts of the store to get to where you want to go - Easy and clear check out lines - I really appreciate the designated loading dock area; this made packing the things into our car with our baby so much easier - We bought a dresser for our nursery, and it was really easy to put together. The picture directions were clear and easy to understand! Cons - There was a MASSIVE line outside in the heat to get into the store. Fortunately the line moved pretty fast. We had our baby with us so I was fanning him under an umbrella, and when we got to the door the store clerk stopped us and told us to wait a minute. I couldn't believe he stopped us with our baby...pretty ridiculous. He then just forgot about us and walked into the store. It was a different store clerk that waved us in. Clearly the guy isn't a dad and doesn't understand babies. - There were a few items out of stock, and I wish they had signs on these items on the floor before we got to the furniture pieces pick up section. My dad had a hankering for Swedish meatballs yesterday (Friday), so off we went to IKEA! Pork shanks were on the menu today, and although I hate to deviate from my usual veggie balls, they looked really delicious so I took a chance. This isn't really a food review, I'm just impressed by the variety of offerings they rotate in their bistro. To quote from their website, "Fika is Swedish for coffee break, and you can enjoy a delicious cake with your hot drink in our restaurant." 2 years after opening and ikea is a great place for reasonable home stuff and the lack of a parking garage is no longer an issue. We have a sofa from here that has withstood two larger dogs nesting and playing daily. It has held up nicely for the past two years. We opted for the pleather over real leather and I'm happy with the purchase. We have two different closets in our home. One is the container store elfa. It cost $$$$ but we recently got the pax closet system for my husband's clothes. It was $$$ much less and I have to say I'm super jealous. I like his closet better. Victor helped me determine what I needed for my clöset. He was so patient. I definitely recommend finding him. I also have gotten tons of other stuff like candles, plants, vases, rollerblinds, general decor every few months. Wear good shoes and be prepared to walk. Don't be tempted by the food court. As someone who frequented the Round Rock location, it's awesome having an IKEA so close to home now. And let me just say that I love this particular store. IKEA Live Oak has some nice little touches, such as the arrows projected onto the floor as opposed to the large stickers that grew dirty over time at Round Rock. I also appreciate that this is a large, sprawling location unlike the two-story number in Houston. Maybe it's because this location is newer, but it's so clean and a delight to stroll through. I've visited 5 times since they've opened, and it's always well-kempt. And depending on when you visit, parking can be a dream. I tend to go in the evenings, and I always score a good spot! Great selection (as always) and inviting floor displays make for a solid experience. Also, the Swedish Food mart up front is a great place to score unique snacks at the end of your visit! What a great place! I had heard they had some Montessori type furniture, which I was looking for, and they did have plenty of that to choose from. The rooms you are able to walk through are also pretty neat and it's great that they showcase the square footage. It gave me a ton of ideas, especially for small space living. The bistro and cafe are also really good for food. I love that there are healthy options that are extremely affordable yet still delicious. The vegan dogs are cheaper than the hot dogs! You can also save some money if you sign up to be a member. There are kiosks there where you can sign up, or you can do it online. There weren't quite enough to accommodate everyone when I was there, so I recommend signing up online. Other things I loved were that they have restrooms that accommodate families with children. In case you forget a diaper, you are able to get one from the dispenser. There's also feminine products available for 25 cents rather than $1 or more that you are usually charged at other places (if they even have them available). We will definitely be back! If you go, just plan on being there a few hours and probably asking for help (because it can be a little overwhelming on your first trip). read more

I went in just for hangers, I said. Just 30 minutes, I said. Three bewildering hours later, I came staggering out with Kjäd, Ôöfsdörf, Blër, and friends in a big blue bag. I've been to IKEA in Houston and Round Rock, and this one takes the coolest award. IKEA seems to be perfecting their new store designs as they go along. Sure, the merchandise is all the same, but the staff members at this store make all the difference. I also loved the white "arrow" lights pointing down at the floor from above that keep you on the main path when you wander off in the departments. It looks like white arrows painted on the floor, but it's actually LED lights. How cool is that? Staff were super helpful in this store. Maybe it's because it's still new and they have a following to build for the uninitiated. Then again, their attitude seemed genuine and they were willing to spend virtually unlimited time helping with shopping decisions. Best things about this store: - Restrooms conveniently located at the entry/exit area. They know when you need to go. - Cafeteria at about the midway point. Take a break and eat. I'd just had lunch across the street, so this wasn't an objective for me on the day of my visit. - The foodstuffs. You can buy and pay for the frozen and other grocery items at the main registers, unlike at Round Rock, where you often have to stand in line at the short order counter. That way, your meatballs don't defrost waiting for hot dogs and Icees. Will I be back? You bet. This store is actually more convenient than Round Rock. read more

Huge warehouse furniture store with excellent cafe with plenty of seating. I got 3 side orders of the swedish meatballs for $3, which gave me 12 meatballs with gravy and lingonberries on side. The meatballs lacked texture, and the gravy was just like a brown gravy. this is just one of those I've got to knock this off my bucket list since I've never had real swedish meatballs. The coffee is fantastic here and it's free if you sign up for their loyalty card. The coffee comes out of a machine and it's just like an espresso. I also really enjoyed the soda fountain which has various kinds a fruit flavor based soda and sparkling Waters out of a dispenser. There is such flavors as raspberry, strawberry, and lingonberry soda. Those sodas were crisp and refreshing and lower in sugar than your standard sodas. Don't forget on your way out there's a swedish foods market where you can buy products that you can take home like the smoked salmon, various kinds of pickled vegetables and pickled herring and plenty of cookies and other sweets. We had to return a bed frame that we purchased over a month ago. We had put it together and threw away the boxes and all packaging AND the receipt thinking that we were going to keep it. After reading the IKEA return policy we thought we'd give it a try. I was bracing myself for a bad experience (given all the pieces being returned loose, no receipt). I waited my turn and was pleasantly greeted by Mickey. He was super friendly and ready to help. Last week, my best friend Robin J. and I were able to attend the Sneak Preview @ IKEA before the opening day as we are IKEA Family Members. We usually make a pilgrimage to the Round Rock location once a year, and we are soo excited an IKEA opened up closer to our backyard. IKEA as always, never disappoints and they do a fantastic job of merchandising their products in the store. Highlights: - During the sneak preview, we were given IKEA tumblers and rubber can openers. - Virtually no traffic or congestion in the store, or long lines. Yay! I feel for all the people going to IKEA on opening day, which I'm sure it will be a mad house. - The layout of the store is huge and the selection seems to be more extensive than the Round Rock location. - The different departments are beautifully designed and thoughtfully decorated. A lot of dark hues and rose patterns. - IKEA Family Members currently receive a buy one get one free Swedish meatball. And if you spend more than $125 this month, you get $20 off next month. Use your coupons or sign up for the Family Members program ( a free member program). - I found a beautiful bookcase for $109! Who can beat that! I used the IKEA app to locate and find certain things I wanted to buy. Download it before you go! Lowlights: - We made it through the store in 2 hours. If you are wanting a quick trip - Good luck. - Some of the registers were not taking the coupon for the meatballs, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a manager to help your cashier, but ultimately not a big deal. I have been waiting and waiting for this glorious place to open, and the day has finally arrived WOOT WOOT! The parking lot is not as big as I expected, and I had to park quite a ways away and hoof it. But then it was the first day open. I'm guessing for normal days there will be enough parking. The people here are so friendly and helpful. I was offered a map and a lady signed me up for membership. She explained this entered me in for a $250 giftcard card and free coffee as long as I'm a member. Woohoo! They are definitely speaking my language. Each area is well organized and I had a blast checking out all the different decorated rooms for great ideas. The prices here can't be beat, and I simply love new projects and things to build with my family. So this place is a win win. There is just something very satisfying about looking at your new furniture and knowing you built it with your own hands. The food court area was very spacious, and they had live bands playing. The lines for checkout were my only issue. They are disorganized and hard to tell where they end and begin, and there is no express area for those with just a couple items. So you may be waiting behind people with loads of items just to buy a teapot. This could cause me to change my mind and just leave the item behind. Other than that, I really enjoyed my experience here and will return when the crowd has died down a bit. read more

Took my best friend to IKEA for the first time yesterday , Sept. 5, 2022. It was interesting, prices were reasonable but I personally don't see what all the hype is. It's ridiculous that they don't provide FREE bags to take your items in. I certainly wasn't gonna buy one of their bags. But what was really disturbing was how filthy the women's bathroom was. People already know what is going to be here, but as for their grand opening preparation I think it's not organized at all. Lots of people driving around clueless on where to park, the security guiding weren't much of a help. Had to figure out where to go, and when the right time was to actually wait and park (YES, you have to wait in line to get to IKEA's parking spot). If ever it gets filled there's another designated parking area, in which there's a shuttle (from what I was told) that will take you to the building. read more

I love IKEA. I've been a customer for many years in Houston. This store in San Antonio is similar (as I'm sure most are). The friends and family discount is almost never a true discount. But that doesn't mean I will hold it against them. It's no different than Krogers or other retailers using a card to track your purchases. Catalogs: I kept so my old catalogs from the 90s. (Yes, I'm that person who only keeps a few old books and clippings but those are helpful if i still have those furniture items & will resemble them again in the future). I wasn't thrilled to see them discontinue the printed catalogs a few years back. I don't subscribe to magazines of any kind. Just my old IKEA books. Maybe one day I'll toss them. (I even laminated a few pages ;). Their service that allows you to pay in advance and pick up later- is fantastic. We tried that once but missed out on a few discounted items they had that were a steal at 50% off. (Kitchen area). And i THINK ABOUT IT often but I was recovering from dental surgery at the time... I've had one negative experience at this location with one of the managers that assist cashiers... the woman was called repeatedly by the cashier checking us out. The receipt was partially shredded when it came out and the very nice young African American male cashier called the manager to assist. She said she would come but after a very long wait, and very busy line (at least 5 min) the cashier asked if we would step aside to wait for her. We agreed. It wasn't fair to all the ppl in the line... well we waited and waited, then i had to ask him how i could go and find her... my elderly parents were with me and my dad had just had a stroke in previous weeks. I could see the stress bothering him and it was stressing me out... it turned into a big ole hassle. This wait was longer than the five prev minutes... eventually i found her and she apologized but made a snarky remark about getting a "pretty receipt"... (It wasn't me who requested a pretty receipt or anything like that). She wasn't mgt material IMO. I've worked many years in retail and communications are positive when you apologize and act sincere if a mistake is made... Other than that. I still look forward to IKEA visits. read more

Was very happy they serve vegetarian meatballs! They were filled with veggies so all can enjoy while on a diet. This cake was AMAZING. The mashed potatoes however docked this review a whole star because they were worse than school cafeteria potatoes which is pretty disappointing. I love this IKEA location! I had previously bought some furniture from here - daybed & dresser - which are holding up wonderfully! What prompted this review is my absolute joy at the variety of options and price point of various jars and containers sold at this store. I have completely redone my kitchen, getting rid of all bags/boxes products come in and replacing them with glass jars of all shapes and sizes. You simply cannot beat the prices IKEA sells these products at. I have shopped in store and also placed two click & collect orders and have been thoroughly pleased with my experiences. The staff here are so friendly and helpful and the store is very well maintained. This is an exceptional store for all your home furniture and organization needs! read more

Wow! That sign is HUGE! This is a giant Swedish furniture store in Live Oak, right off I-35 and 1604. This place was long awaited in San Antonio, causing giant traffic jams and lines in the opening months. But now that things have settled down, this is a nice place to shop and get your stuff for your home or dorm. Granted, none of this furniture is stuff that you'll be passing on to your grandchildren. Instead, it might not make your next move. But it's affordable and looks cool, and packs flat so it fits in smaller cars. Pro tip: If you go through the store backwards, entering through the cash registers, you can visit the "As Is" section first, and see if you can find something that'll work for what you need, and buy the additional parts in the showroom. Most of the stuff in there is pretty good, and there's even websites that walk you through Ikea hacks of making frankenstein furniture from the various parts. So the best part of this furniture store is the cafeteria. I've heard that they break even or have a slight loss on the Swedish themed cafeteria. The meatballs in the sauce and lingonberries is always the hit. (What's a lingonberry? It's like a cranberry, apparently.) You can even purchase frozen food to take home with you for a Swedish themed meal. Who would think to purchase Scandanavian cuisine at a furniture store, but whatevs! The only aggravating thing about this place is that you feel like a rat running through a maze in here, with arrows pointing the way, they make you meander left and right and around corners in a total labyrinth to get through here. read more

First time using IKEA store , online order, or curbside pick up and I am NOT IMPRESSED. The website is not user friendly. There are no notifications when your items are ready for pick up or how they are to be picked up. I had to call Ilea customer support who told me to use the QR code on a sign However it was not working. Finally after 30 minutes "Lydia" banged in my truck window and asked for my order number and ID. I gave the information and unlocked the truck bed. She came back to my window and said ok it's there for you to load. Only when I looked at her dumbfounded did she ask if I needed help loading the items in my truck. I laughed and said not I got it. I loaded my truck and left. So far a billion dollar company that opened during a pandemic has below standard customer service, non user friendly access, and bare minimum staff. It was a slow Tuesday afternoon, not too crowded when I was shopping in the floor. Very easy and I found and picked-up the Micke drawer so quickly and even got time to check out the As-is department. It was a pleasant shopping day until I lined-up in the wrong checkout lane. OMG, the cashier was extremely slow, slower than a sloth. The rest of the lines were fast but this particular cashier? I did not understand. He was pleasant and greeted me appropriately when it was my turn to checkout but, I spent almost the same length of time on this cashier's queue as the time I shopped. The BOGO veggie balls saved my day, I also bought two veggie hotdogs. I didn't get his name but according to my receipt his cashier ID is 10072655. One of the sad things about moving from Austin to San Antonio was no more Ikea around the corner. I was actually giddy to be here. I'm sure it will be a madhouse for at least a couple months but they seem to have a ton of staff to help. Everywhere I turned there were happy helpful staff. They were in the parking lot directing traffic, at the door, stationed through the store, in the warehouse and every checkout was opened. They were very cheery and kind. If you're used to other Ikea's be aware that the grocery section at the end by the registers no longer have their own checkout. You need to shop that section before you check out unless you want to wait through the checkout line a second time (trust me, you don't). The worst part is the check out line but they do have staff there to help you find the shortest line. AND hopefully, you're so happy with all your great new finds that the line isn't a big deal. The credit card machines were running a bit slow but I guess that's to be expected. The check out the crew is also clearly still learning too so be patient with them. Don't forget your reusable bags, you'll need them here unless you want to buy the big blue bag they offer. read more

IKEA has lots of furniture, bedding and other items. Yes it is cheaply made but it is affordable. We bought the same kind of material in Germany 30 years ago and it held up all these years.
