While visiting Austin a few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by somewhere upper scale to see what the city had to offer, and this steakhouse was recommended by a friend. There's no parking, but there is a valet and parking garages located only a block away. Once inside, we were seated at our reserved table promptly. The inside of the restaurant featured live music and a dark, romantic atmosphere on a Saturday evening. Our waiter was not the first to greet us, but we were dropped a wine list by Don who was very courteous. Jon, our waiter, stopped by shortly after to take our bottled wine order and appetizers. We decided to go with a bottle of red Conundrum with a wedge salad and the lobster bisque to start. The bisque was good, but nothing too special. For our entrees, I went with the 22oz bone-in ribeye with the king's butter while my girlfriend ordered the scallops. To accompany our entrees, we ordered the lobster mac and cheese and the fried Brussels sprouts. The steak was so tender I could cut it with my fork and was well complimented by the king's butter. My girlfriend's scallops were also cooked to perfection. The Brussels sprouts weren't quite worth the $10 price tag, but they were good. The lobster mac was excellent as well! I would highly recommend this place to any that visit Austin! Atmosphere: 5/5 Food Quality: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 5/5 read more

Loved this place. My partner & I made reservations for 3.00 pm Thanksgiving Day. We elected to go with the set menu $48 PP, one each of the Turkey or Beef Tenderloin with mashed spuds, Sweet potato & cream of corn. All delicious. The Beef Tenderloin was cooked to perfection. Our waiter and drink's maker Dennis was very knowledgable and attentive even though the restaurant was very busy. Extensive and reasonably priced wine list. Next time we visit Austin, we plan to return to III Forks to try their happy hour selections. read more

Had such great service, just had to tell everyone. Had dinner there Wens night, ordered the lamb, waiter returned and said they were out of lamb. Made sense as it was late, he suggested the pork chop, told him ok. An asset Mgr came around and we told him that it was taking a long time to get our meal. Finally came, and it was delicious. Same Mgr came around and apologized for the wait and offered us a free drink, told him we were done drinking. He then offered us a free dessert, told him we were full. When we got the bill he had given us 50% off. They really went beyond to make us feel good. Will definitely go back. read more

We came to Austin to tour University Texas Austin college. We were greeted and taken to our table promptly. We had James as our server and he was incredible. We ordered the 8oz Filets, Lobster Mac n Cheese,Mashed potatoes and the creamed corn. Everything was prepared to our exact request and arrived at the perfect temperature. Finished off the evening with New York Cheesecake and a Cappuccino. I can't say enough about the entire staff from the host all the way to Effrain who kept our water glasses cold and full. James thank you so so much for the service and conversations. Thank you all and hope to be back in August for move in day at UT. read more

Enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server, Makayla, was wonderful and Incredibly helpful choosing wine. Martini with stuffed olives were great. Prime burger medium rare was perfect. Ordered one medium and was a little over. read more

We came here for NYE, and even though no one really likes NYE, III Forks did a FANTASTIC job!! When we first walked in, the hostesses were right on the spot, our waiter-i don't remember his name, but he was BUSY, yet never made us feel that way, and finally, the FOOD....it was ridiculously good!! The restaurant was packed, and yet, the kitchen performed, like they only had a few tables. I have to say, there is a steakhouse in San Antonio that I feel is the best steak....I no longer say that. III Forks' filet, was so tender and flavorful, I now will compare all other steaks to that filet!! Thank you III Forks for making this NYE hater, enjoy her evening! read more

Yum ! Seriously delicious. Went there for Valentine's Day dinner and actually we didn't get the bday special. We ordered a tomahawk steak and potatoes and broccoli I and lamb and the truffle sauce.. my gosh it was delicious and of course got it cooked medium to medium well. The steam is massive if you don't know that already. This is an expensive restaurant and the wait was as expected super long on vday with reservations but I'm glad I checked it out. The service was also outstanding. Also if you like old fashion drinks try the new one it's the same but the liquor is inside the ice so it dissolves into your drink read more

To be fair, if I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars to be more accurate to how I feel. My girlfriend and I went here on Saturday night. We had a filet, wagyu ny strip, a cocktail, mashed potatoes, and the bone marrow. The steaks and service, absolutely flawless. My wagyu strip was absolutely perfect, as was her filet. There were two extra nice touches on the service. The first was that you get to choose your steak knife, and they have quality cutlery. I chose Global because that's what I use in my kitchen at home. The second was that the GM came over and shook my hand and thanked us for coming in. The last time something similar happened was when Dominique Crenn did the same thing when we were at her place (to be fair nothing could beat that). Now, the food other than the steaks was... pretty good. I had the king's butter for my steak. This is a compound butter of truffle, garlic, and fois gras. Each of those ingredients has a distinctive flavor, but none of them are salty. The butter was quite salty and I couldn't pick up the truffle. The bone marrow was a little bit of a dud, only because the amount of marrow we got from each bone was really quite minimal. Finally, the mashed potatoes were totally fine, just not worth their price. read more

We visited III Forks on Valentine's Day this year, since we had yet to try it. We were enticed by the non-pre fixed menu and delicious looking cuts of meat. Unfortunately, our expectations were squashed the moment we arrived. We walked up at 7:00 PM to enjoy a cocktail at the bar before our 7:45 PM reservations. The interior was packed with people waiting to be seated, so we decided to go around the corner to The Bonneville. When we went back at 7:40 PM, the crowd hadn't shrunk and the line just to speak to the hostess was almost out the door. We didn't mind waiting, since we were early and figured we'd be seated at the time of our reservations. Boy, were we wrong. When we reached the stand at 7:45 PM, the hostess said it would be a 30-minute wait and they were just now seating the 7:15 PM reservations. I totally understand overbooking your reservations, but a 30-minute wait is ridiculous. The packed bar was standing room only and we had to reach over another couple just to get the bartenders attention. We stood along the wall, since there was not a good place to be out of the way and were constantly bumped into and in the way of the servers. We tried moving around, but to no avail. We were seated around 7:50 in the crowded bar area, which was loud and completely unromantic. It was also by the back door that was opened a few times and I couldn't take my jacket off through the entire dinner. We ordered the special fried lobster bites, which were really good, but they were the only good part about our meal. The steaks were both ordered medium rare and mine was overcooked. I didn't send it back, because, at that point, I was just ready to leave. We also ordered the cheesy potatoes and asparagus. Both were lackluster. The asparagus had a thin line of salt & pepper, which was the only seasoning on the whole dish. Finally, we finished with a creme brulee which was bitter and the fruit on top had way too much lemon acidity on it. The only great part of our meal was our waiter, which is why this 1-star experience squeaked up to a two. read more

Wanted to take my husband out for a five star steak dinner for our anniversary. Couldn't have made a better choice! Our server was very attentive. The manager came by several times to check in as well. The portions were all big enough for two. We started our meal with the III Forks Salad. This salad literally tasted like music in your mouth taste buds felt like they were "touched for the very first time". One salad is enough for two so our server had it served for us on separate plates. (It's the little things) For the main entree we shared the 32oz Tomahawk Ribeye that was sliced for us at table side. For sides we shared the mashed potatoes, roasted mushrooms and corn off the cob. All were cooked to perfection. The for an extra touch we recurved cocktails that from the bar which was "on the house". I can say I scored points for this one! read more

The best steakhouse in Austin. And it has been since it opened many years ago. The appetizers are fantastic. We always get at least 3 or 4 (crab cakes for sure and usually tuna). The lamb meatballs are really good and are now always in the app mix. Try them. Great salads. A perfect lobster bisque. And you still have the entree to go after all of that great food. I always get a steak. Usually the New York strip but the bone-in filet is wonderful too. Good fish dishes as well. Great cocktails and a very nice wine list. Save room if you can for dessert. Ernest and all of the staff are top notch professionals who deliver a solid 5 star dining experience. read more

Good quality for the price. Sides are very tasty and shareable. Had a convenient delivery option that was great for hosting special dinners.

Best steak place in town. We ordered Bone in strip categorized in Durham Ranch Wagyu by the Strube Family. It was a bit expensive, but also very savory, sophisticated and definitely was worth it. The lobster and crab cake were also incredibly good. We also appreciated the great and thoughtful service. Thanks for giving us such a wonderful evening, our 2-year marriage anniversary. Great experience overall. There was no bad part of this experience. Walked in for an 8:45 pm reservation but the table was taking a few extra minute than they thought. Their management came out with a bottle of champagne and gave us each a glass as we waited. They apologized and got us seated very quickly. Thing is....we didn't complain or even ask. So the fact that they did this was above and beyond necessary. After being seated we were promptly greeted by our waiter, who was very good and friendly. We enjoyed the fried chicken lobster and the bone marrow as appetizers, then we had two tomahawk ribeyes for dinner along with Creamed spinach, grilled asparagus, roasted Brussels sprouts and mushrooms. There was not a thing that could have tasted any better. Adding Kings butter to the steaks is a really good move and I highly recommend it. There were also a number of deserts that sound amazing but I did not try them out. We did some after dinner drinks and then left. This is a high end steak house experience without the pretentious dress code which I love!! Anytime I'm in Austin this will be a definite stop. Thanks for such a great experience. read more

All things considered, dining in an upscale Austin steakhouse like III Forks takes the local restaurant experience to another level - from the food to the service, from the décor to the crisp starched tablecloth. I'm also aware of the irony that a perfectly seared chunk of cow loin can set you back an arm and a leg, but that's why there's Austin Restaurant Week. III Forks is all about dim lights, dark wood and leather, and they also do what good restaurants are supposed to do - they called ahead to confirm our reservation, they offered wine and martini specials at the bar, and as we began a scientific test tasting of each wine and martini special, they graciously held our table until conclusions were reached. Shawn at the bar and Brian at our table were both personable and on-the-ball. Incidentally, for the longest time I always thought III Forks was pronounced ill Forks, not Three Forks. Probably because GMTA, the five of us wound up ordering the exact same thing off the ARW menu: A decent wedge salad with a marvelous chunky blue cheese dressing, a superb six-ounce bacon-wrapped filet (we couldn't quite pinpoint where the demi-glaze ended and the Béarnaise began), and a delightful and delectable chocolate ganache cake (okay, there was also one cheesecake, but I'm not sure how that went). On the flip side, we didn't dislike the duchess potato side, but felt it would adequately provide two days worth of sodium requirements for the average adult. It all depends on how you interpret Austin Restaurant Week - I look at it as a cheap way to sample big-ticket items in pricey restaurants, instead of walking in cold or relying strictly on Happy Hour apps. So is the ARW filet the best steak available here? I'd be surprised if it was. But did the ARW experience tonight convince me that bringing happy people to wine and dine at III Forks for three hours can be a good thing? Yes, it did - hashtag "Winning" for everyone. read more

Very good food, service was great, great staff, clean,. upscale, very very nice for dinner downtown.

I've been away from Yelp for a bit. Time appears to have entered a frightening warp where it's 8 am on my second day home from the sea, then I blink my eyes and it's a month later and I have to go to the airport to fly to whatever city is closest to my ship. I hate when that happens. But no matter, we are ensconced in our new home and loving it, and finally able to go out, do things, and enjoy this cool, sexy city. Friends arrived from California and demanded to be fed and entertained. Austin rose to the challenge. III forks slapped them around with desire, then left them limp and gasping with delight. Here's the breakdown. First, drinks in the very manly bar. Dark, rich looking. We were dressed up and glad of it because so was everyone else in the place. Murmurs of big deals going on in the background while the bartender pours exquisite cocktails whose names elude me now. Mine was a simple Knob and soda and he poured it like it was going to be the last one I ever drank. Yeowsa! When the drinks are done, we're led to a booth in the back, amidst well dressed and well groomed people, most of whom could drink legally when MASH was still on the air, with a sprinkling of people who watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer when it was age appropriate for them. Unlike me, who felt slightly dirty watching it at 40. Salads were your simple but well done wedges with a very good Bleu Cheese dressing. There was also a cup of French onion soup that did not come out of a can or package. Really, really good. They have a good seafood selection, but we were all in the mood for meat. I had the 12 oz Filet, Cali 1 had the Surf & Turf, 8 oz filet and lobster tail, Cali 2 had the large Rib eye. They do things a bit different from other steak in that the sides are included with dinner. Ours were creamed corn, made in house, Duchess potatoes, sugar snap peas, and sliced tomatoes. I usually turn my nose up at creamed corn, but this is something completely different than any I've ever had before. A texture and flavor somewhere between a good Alfredo sauce and a rich bisque, with fresh off the cob corn. Delicious. The sides were all locally sourced and the tomato was so flavorful that we all kept skewering slices until it was gone. But you go to III Forks for meat, and the meat gods did not disappoint. My filet was superb. Perfectly cooked (medium), no knife needed, and bursting with flavor. There were lots of yummy sounds all around when everyone tried that first bite, and then we got down to serious eating. The Cali couple are very wine knowledgeable and found several wines that impressed them from the wine list. We got one and it was great. That's as far as my wine knowledge goes, so you'll just have to go through the list yourselves. There was something chocolate for dessert but it all starts to get hazy there. I just remember a feeling of immense satisfaction. The Cali couple couldn't stop raving about the meal, the service (which was steak house perfect. Right on time, friendly, but not hovering), the restaurant, and Austin in general. The manager stopped by the table just as the dinner plates were cleared to give us after dinner drinks on him. You can call me shallow all you want, but I love that. And the drinks were great! This is an expensive restaurant. I wouldn't go here for a quick bite. But to celebrate a 4 decades long friendship and let Austin shine for old friends, it's dead on perfect. read more

Major Downgrade - My last 2 visits to III Forks have been disappointing. My most recent visit was horrible. Will never be back. I ended up leaving to go to another one of Austin's many great steakhouses. I've eaten at III Forks on a dozen or so occasions. I've brought business guests to have dinner there. However, the past year or so I've noticed that service has deteriorated, portion size of side dishes has grown smaller, and the overall quality of the steaks seems to be on the decline. I made a reservation in advance of my dinner. My table wasn't ready - and after 40 minutes I was still waiting. I had a drink and a glass of wine at the bar. The manager came by to ask how I was doing. I told him that I was waiting to be seated. He never returned. As a matter of fact, no one seemed to care or provide an alternative. Given the cost of III Forks (dinner can easily hit $100/person), I was surprised by the lackadaisical nature of the service. Yes, the interior of III Forks is attractive and the food in the past very good. But things change. I will not be back. read more

Oh iii Forks, where to start? How about the positives? Great! Pros: wonderful ambiance, and the food was good. The sides were excellent. Steak was cooked properly and seasoned to perfection. Cons: the service. I do not need some punk waiter trying to up-sale me on every decision. If I wanted that, I'd go to a used car lot. It was seriously overboard and our waiter made a few people at the table uncomfortable. In addition to the poor service, I can't begin to count how many drinks were spilled by the waitstaff and or glasses of water that were over poured to the point of over flowing. Our table was soaked. I would expect this at chilis, but not somewhere where the tab was over $1,000. I ordered the bone in ribeye. While it was cooked right, and seasoned appropriately, I was left disappointed with the cut. It was thin. I prefer a thick cut and this was very thin. For the price I was left wanting more. In summation, food was good but I would look elsewhere for a quality ribeye. Great ambiance, but terrible service. . read more

Let me break this down - I would give 5 stars for the hostesses and front of house staff. We were battling traffic and were 15 mins late for our 530 reservations. We called ahead to let them know and they assured us they'd hold it for 15mins. But of course traffic in Austin is never forgiving so we didn't get there until 550. The hostess called us at 545 to check on us and we let them know we were right down the street trying to turn from CC to Lavaca (it took us 20 mins to go 1.5 miles) and held our res. We were seated immediately and the night went on. Thank you to Emily and the front of house team for being so understanding and patient! Drinks - Fantastic! Reasonably priced for the location, and the wait staff know their stuff so if you're ever unsure or need help making a decision they'll help you to make a decision. Was not disappointed! But ultimately it's about the food, right? Food- So. Underwhelming. Like I wish I could be at least a little whelmed (to quote Young Justice Robin). It's one of those food moments where you're like "I mean it's not bad... but ehhhh it wasn't the greatest". We went back and forth on whether to do the Sweetheart menu or just order from the dinner menu, but we settled on the sweetheart menu since it came with sides and we could essentially grab a couple more drinks ‍. But idk if it was because we ordered from the sweetheart menu that things went south from here but still. People are paying for this. Anyways, my boyfriend and I both started with the lobster bisque which was under-seasoned and super thick like they accidentally used a ladle instead of a tablespoon to add flour to the roux, there was just enough lobster for you to know it was lobster bisque. It sat long enough before being picked up that it congealed by the time it got to our table. The entree was a 6oz filet, a lobster tail, mashed potatoes, snap peas, and a cream corn. The sides were on point, I had no issues with that. Where we did have issues and just inconsistencies overall were with the steak and lobster. We both ordered our steak medium, because you would expect a steakhouse of this quality to be able to nail a steak. Well, we put our steaks side by side and there was a clear difference. In retrospect a picture would have been perfect here to show you but eh hindsight 20/20. Mine was more towards a medium well while my boyfriend's was definitely super pink and close to a medium-rare. We ended up switching halfway through because he couldn't eat it that way. Our waiter at this point was super busy and so we couldn't wave him down to show him. The lobster tails were way over cooked and tough. Like I feel I shouldn't have a harder time cutting my lobster than I do my steak. But maybe that's just me. Dessert was a chocolate cake which was pretty darn tasty, definitely satisfied my sweet craving and was perfect to share. We don't eat at steakhouses very often but our most recent experience before this was absolutely amazing so we had pretty high expectations which sadly fell short here. I just feel if you're going to have a set menu things should be a bit easier to manage since you've prepped for these specific dishes. Overall if you're coming for the food then eh I hope you have a better experience than us, but if you're going for drinks you won't be disappointed. read more

III Forks proved to be well worth the visit, and as others have already said, has established itself as another "go to" steakhouse in Austin. I had a filet with peppercorn sauce, and it was cooked exactly as I had asked, served with sugar snap peas and mashed potatoes. They do the whole "heat up the plate so it could cauterize a wound" thing, so all the food was appropriately hot when served. In addition to the plated side vegetables, they walk around with platters of fresh tomato slices (great) and creamed corn (also great, full of flavor and not 'soupy'). Service was professional and unobtrusive, the overall experience was very good. I didn't pay, but suffice to say you'll have to pay for the quality you're experiencing. All in all, I'd go back for sure, but they don't stand out remarkably from similar steakhouses such as Ruth's Chris. My favorite steak in town continues to be at Gumbo's, but III Forks definitely knows what they're doing. read more

I was so disappointed with this place. Not for the buttery filet or dimly lit and nicely themed decor of this old school styled Texas steakhouse. It was the money grubbing, condescending, obnoxious waiter that ruined what I thought was going to be a delightful evening. I was born in Austin, and I came back to visit as often as I can to see the family. There are three things I do as a ritual: 1. Eat all the BBQ I can grub 2. TexMex 3. A thick buttery cut-with-a-fork Texas steak. I was with a large party and we were sat in the side dining room. Which was fine, except every time the front door opened sunlight poured in through a side window and directly into our eyes. The waiter approached the table in his white tuxedo jacket, complete with thumb ring and tattoos peeping out from the sleeve of the too short, ill fitting jacket and crooked bow tie. Now, I have no problem with ink. What I do have a problem with is a snooty pompous attitude that I did not order up with my meal. I was perusing the wine List and spotted a bottle that I am familiar with and I like. About that time, Shaun asks me if I have any questions about wine list. I tell him the bottle I have selected and he proceeds to up sell me on a more expensive bottle. I politely decline and he asks me what I like about the wine I have selected. Caught of guard I reply, "I have had it before and I like it." Shaun responds to me, "Do you always stick with what you know?" I told him to just bring the wine. Next, he asks if I want water for the table. I said flat would be great. Before I know it 3 busboys surround the table and empty 2 large bottles of Voss water into the oversized water glasses. We get fleeced for another 3 bottles. Finally, the wine arrives. Shaun presented the wine to me as if he was holding a bottle of "2 Buck Chuck." Mind you it was a $98.00 bottle of wine. After the tasting, Shaun poured the entire bottle of wine into three glasses, and suggested I order another bottle for the table. Now, I am not cheap, but I was annoyed. I suggested instead that proceed with ordering our meal. We ordered our meals and what came out next resembled a three ring circus act. A silver tray was presented to each diner. On they tray were tomatoes and onions. These tomatoes and onions were, well plain and looked like what you would pick up at HEB. The service was spotty and not what you would expect from a place that is easily a $85.00 a head experience. The only highlight of the entire evening was the beautiful 12 oz filet mignon cook perfectly to a beautiful cool centered medium rare. My fork sank easily into the meat. I sliced into the steak and took my first bite. The flavor was rich and full. The meat tender and supple. I ate all 12 Oz before even trying the potatoes or corn (I did not want to waste space) both were good. read more

How do you up-the-ante in Austin for fine dining you might ask, III forks is the answer. My wife and I went for dinner and this makes eating at some of the OTHER high class places we've dined out at look like Chucky Cheese. It's fun to go to the bathroom and find that when you return that your napkin is folded and the crumbs have been magically swept away. Sure it's pricy but aren't you SOMETIMES worth it? read more

Even though I wasn't terribly impressed with the sides that came along with my steak, the steak and dessert deserved six stars, so I'll average it out to five. :) I ordered the 10-ounce filet, true Pittsburgh. No steakhouse in Austin or San Antonio or Dallas has correctly prepared this temperature for me in four years. Well, III Forks delivered. Beautiful, flavorful char on the outside, rare rare rare on the inside. The steak I had was so perfect that I cut it up into itty bitty pieces so I could savor every single bite. Easily the best piece of prime meat in Austin or Dallas. And that includes Del Frisco's and Perry's. As far as the sides are concerned - they are good but not excellent. However, I loved that they brought out fresh tomato slices and green onions with my meal. That was a brilliant touch and so welcome! The pecan cake was heavenly. Four layers of moist and delicious perfection. I'd recommend that in a heartbeat to any cake lover. And whole candied pecans on top? Marvelous! I sat at the bar and service from bartender Jeff and manager Ernest was beyond excellent. I was even taken on a tour of the restaurant and kitchen. If you're a meat eater looking to drop a little cash on your steak addiction, III Forks is the place to beat. read more

You get what you PAY for. I can't give this place 5 stars cause it's an arm an a leg to dine here. I paid for valet and cause my car cost six figures they parallel park it in front of the restaurant. Anyways, drinks are good, bar isn't very quiet or classy to be honest. I'd rather wait at Cloak Room and get crazy before dinner. All food is ala carte basically. You cant pay extra for that potato, creamed corn and spinach. The special was a bone in filet, it cost me $89.95. I guess it was worth it. My date was impressed I ordered it and I got lucky later. If you wanna show off and take a date out go here; anniversary, bday, etc, go here. It's another flashy Texas steakhouse. TBH, County Line and Texas Land & Cattle grill equal flavorful steaks for 1/3 the price. My 2 cents. read more

Atmosphere: I loved it. Wait Staff: Attentive (my God that water guy deserves a medal), BK our waiter was cool, and the manager made sure to come over and talk to us, but did not interrupt us at all. The Food: I have paid FAR more elsewhere in this town. I did the $43 three course meal and I loved it. I chose the III Fork Salad (the maple dressing made it). The filet was delicious. The Chocolate Ganache Cake to die for. You put all this together with fantastic company, and I'm one satisfied lady. read more

I was thoroughly impressed with 3Forks. The inside of it is much like a cave, dark and mysterious. They had a pianist and bass player that evening which really set the tone. We ordered: 3Forks salad Bacon wrapped filet mignon Pork chop Chocolate Cake Cheesecake The service was attentive. The waiter brought us fresh out of the oven bread. With the towel placed over it he gently cracked it open. You could hear the crunch, and see the softness in the resistance that the chewy bread was giving against his palm. Yep, it was as sexy as it sounds! So I knew instantly...that this was going to be goooood. C'mon if someone takes bread and butter that serious it's got to be! The famous 3Forks Salad. I enjoyed it so much it was laughable. You're thinking it's JUST a salad how good can it be? Tender greens, with green apple slices, pecans, and blue cheese. All tossed delicately with a pecan maple dressing. Perfect amount of sweet, tang, and creaminess. It's all about simplicity, creativity, and freshness. Bacon Wrapped Filet. Good lord, MELT in your mouth tender. The bacon was the right amount of smoke & salty goodness. I'd never seen my husband eat so slow..He was truly savoring it. Pork Chop. Juicy, tender, slightly pink in the middle. Highly rivals Perrys Chop. I may have to try them side by side. It was even good as left overs. Chocolate Cake & Cheesecake. Unfortunately were my least favorite of the evening. They were both rather boring. To be fair this is a steak house not a dessert house. Though I was expecting to go out with a bang. Can't always get what we went now can we? Either way I have a great time, I would definitely put this on my special occasions list. read more

The Pursuit of Perfection~ Best steakhouse in Austin! I have had the liberty and unfortunate experience of visiting other steak restaurants (ALC, Bob's Chophouse, Perry's, Ruth's Chris, etc) in Austin and I have come to the conclusion that this is indeed the most enchanting and paramount place to get a steak. I feel it's a well-balanced atmosphere as well. This well-managed eatery conforms to what you are seeking (Romantic Date, Guys night out, quick bite at the bar). I always managed to soothe my taste-buds by getting a concoction of drinks at the bar to appease my young and restless taste buds. As you get seated by the Maitre d' you can certainly see that they have a large amount of fine wines available from around the world. I do recommend the shrimp cocktails or Seafood Medley which is light and enticing before waiting for the main course. Out of their beef selection, I am a fan of the Bone-in Ribeye. It is well marbled and the cut is loaded with flavor. It is certainly the most flavorful. Every single bite is an amazing experience. Words simply cannot describe it! As a patient of high cholesterol at a young age, I am very selective on where I dine and I strongly feel that to experience and cherish the best ones you must experience them all and therefore III forks is certainly the best. I would advise every one of you to certainly nibble on their Chocolate Ganache cake. Just to put things into perspective, my wife's last craving before going into labor was this delicious cake. Get to know Ernest. He has always taken good care of us and he always takes the time to make small talk. Signing off as one of the biggest fans of this establishment! read more

One thing I love about my job are the awesome perks that sales reps can hook you up with, just for listening to their spiel. This is how I came to try III Forks...which was an amazing experience. The reps paid for EVERYTHING, from valet parking (which I didn't know and ended up parking at Town Lake) to the meal itself and the libations! Whoo hoo! I give it four stars because I was unable to peruse the entire menu for costliness and variety of items. Upon walking into the private banquet room, I was offered red or white wine. I realized later that there were other options, but the wine was free flowing by then and it really made no difference. The room itself was a little congested, space wise. It may have been because of the laptop and projector between the two banquet style tables...but the chairs were impossibly close together. I couldn't move without elbowing my neighbor. The meal started off with a III Forks salad, complete with some sort of delicious, somewhat sweet dressing. Yum! Next we had the option of filet mignon and crab cake or salmon. After asking about the presence of bacon around the filet (I was happy that there was not), I opted for the steak. The steak was the tastiest I've had in a really long time and the crab cake was amazing, not too crab-like at all. A minus for some, but a plus for me. The sides were great, too! Mashed potatoes to die for, creamed corn, sliced tomatoes (a little too peppery for me), and peas in the pods (sorry, can't think of the word, it's been a rough day) with red peppers. The peas were lukewarm, they needed to be either hot or cold. Not such a fan. As I'm slowly devouring my tasty tasty free meal, I noticed that everyone else was finished and I was looking forward to dessert, so I quickly stopped eating. We had the option of chocolate mousse or pecan cake. I opted for the mousse, which, to my delight had blueberries hidden in it. It was fabulous, I dreamt about it afterwards! The waitrons kept sneaking up behind me, keeping my wine glass consistently full...always a plus! I plan on coming back, even if it's not free! I love my job...and my sales reps. read more
