We ended up going to Beauvine Burger Concept and we were very pleased with it! We got there after 9 p.m. (I think) but the place was still packed! Maybe it's because they're open really late (they're open until 2am!) We ordered fries and burgers and my son and I also got milkshakes. Everything was delicious! I really liked the size of the burger and I especially loved the milkshake because it wasn't too thick so I could easily sip it through the straw. I'm usually not much of a burger person but if we ever get a chance to visit Richmond again, we'd definitely like to go back!

It was a tricky life I was living going to school in the City. The burger is excellent. The fries are great. The beer tastes like beer. It's simple, but I love it. It can be a bit packed, so maybe make this a solo endeavor if you're really feeling fat. You can always find a spot at the bar. The parking, not easy for most. But for me, I'm not scared to maybe park in a spot that's not reserved for Jack Browns Customers. To their credit, they do have a good draft/bottle beer list, and their burgers are indeed good. However, that's really all there is to recommend them. The parking situation here is absolutely awful and starts things off on a bad note. Their absence of a waitlist system made it awkward while our party waited to get a table and other groups waiting for a table jockeyed for position, and they took forever to clean it off even after the previous party had left. While it was nice of my compatriots to pay for my dinner, the server refused to split our checks, which made it especially obnoxious for my friends who had ordered significantly less than others since they were still on the hook for the even split. If this had been the only service issue it might have been somewhat forgivable, but the server all but disappeared for most of the evening after taking our orders, particularly when most of us ran dry before our food finally arrived. This all might be excusable in a cheaper place, but Jack Brown's is NOT cheap anymore, they are just as overpriced as every other "bougie burger" spot around without a valid justification for it. At the end of the evening, I looked really dumb for choosing this place. That is definitely not a mistake I will make twice. Overall: 2.0 stars --- Pros: - Excellent draft and bottle beer list. - Burgers are good and unique. Cons: - Recent price increases kill the value proposition of this spot, just not worth it anymore when there are SO many options around for this sort of thing. - Weird seating/waitlist situation makes for a bad first impression. - Service was incredibly low energy, and as I can attest to as a former restaurant server myself, a party of eight needs some effort to get things right. - Parking here sucks, this area desperately needs at least one parking garage to make it less of an exercise in frustration to get here in the first place.

I got the Shorti Bowl, which is eggs and meat over cheese grits. It was good but I just wanted the cheese grits to commit a little harder to the cheese. The meat itself was good too, although it did feel a bit like a piece of meat had been plopped in the middle rather than everything really coming together as a dish. My husband got the sandwich with basically the same kind of meat, and somehow it was both a LOT of sandwich and not a lot of sandwich at the same time. It looked impressive as a Katz's-esque pile of meat, but once you actually got into it, it was mostly meat, bread and pickles. I kept expecting some sauce or another topping to show up and it just...didn't. Also a little unwieldy to eat, although I guess that's part of the territory when your sandwich is 70% meat. I think Lunch Supper sits in a funny middle ground between classic diner/brunch food and a more modern version of it. Nothing we had was bad, but for some of their more popular dishes I guess I expected a little more oomph if that makes sense (and yes I tried adding hot sauce). I'd still happily come back with friends, especially to sit outside. I just think I'd be coming back more for the vibes vs the food.

The energy here exudes soul food, including the soundtrack playing over the speakers. If you like Michael Jackson, which we do, you'll appreciate the vibe. I tried the bone-in pork chop within Hoppin' Johns (rice and beans), and my partner had the Fried Chicken with macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. She said her meal was fantastic, and I tried some of the mac and cheese; it was excellent. My pork chop was much better than the one I tried at the sister location in Short Pump. However, there were so many onions that I spent a lot of time painstakingly sorting those out with my fork. The meal was delicious, but the amount of onions certainly soured my experience. This is our second time here, and while I'm glad I tried the pork chop, I think I'll try something less oniony next time. I recommend Lillie Pearl to anyone who likes a well-curated southern food menu. The new location is beautifully decorated and would provide amazing photo opportunities for anyone planning to have an event here.

The mac and cheese was exactly how I like it, and the fries lowkey reminded me of In-N-Out LOL. It also didn't have any veggies besides pickles, which was a little disappointing. BUT the side portions were HUGE, so I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. What made the deal even better was that I could choose a beer with my meal. I got the Tecate, and it was SO good. It honestly reminded me of Terra beer from Korea, which I absolutely love. Overall, I really enjoyed everything, especially for the price. I'd 100% recommend coming on Thursdays to take advantage of the deal because $14 for all of this is such a good value. The thing I love here is the sauce options you can get with your order. Don't skip on trying them. Their burgers come with a salad and I wish there was another option like small fries or chips.
