Dear IHOP, The experience inside your restaurant tonight was... Well...
We came in and the server was wrapping up at a table with 2 ladies and saw us and came to seat us. She seemed put out that we asked for a half table, half booth. There was one other table with 4 gentlemen and otherwise the restaurant seemed quiet. A gentleman had just left and she was picking up his receipt.
"Oh MY GOd! I LoVE VINNY! I got a $50 tip!" She ran screaming through the restaurant and into the back hollering about how amazing this $50 tip was. First, that seemed really inappropriate. Secondly, it also made me as a guest, feel she set the bar. I mean, fifty bucks, she MUST be good! She made a comment about going to Cancun. I wish she had gone, right then. It would have been less disappointing.
Almost 5 minutes go by and she is scribbling all over receipts at her station, another group is at the door waiting to be seated, and we are waiting for menus and drinks. For only 2 other tables plus us and the new people who entered, we were kind of surprised and felt like she was way more interested in her $50 tip, than anyone else actually eating there. I wish my experience was only this, but alas, we had only JUST begun.
She shouts across the restaurant at us, "I HAVE TO clear all my tickets. I cannot come get drink orders from you until I have gotten my tickets cleared." Really unprofessional. I wish she had just continued to ignore us. We were chatting and while stunned by her taking so long, being shouted at was another thing. She did not even acknowledge the people standing in the entryway.
She comes over, with menus and tells us "I can take your drink orders after I take that tables food order over there. I will be back." What?!?! Okay...
She goes over to the table of guys, and takes their order. The 2 ladies had left and the group at the entryway was still... not seated. After repeating back the 4 gentlmen's order, she seats the ladies, at the table right next to those guys. For an empty restaurant at 2am, it seemed odd to sit people so close together.
A lone man stood in the waiting area waiting for a seat.
She approached the ladies. "I have to take that table's (mine) food order then I will come back for your drink orders."
They seemed a little confused, like us. We ordered our drinks and she repeated it all back. She apologized that she could not take our food order (despite us knowing what we wanted) until she got the ladies table drink order. Okay...
She is taking the ladies drink order and the man who had been waiting, sat in the middle of the restaurant by himself. He had decided to seat himself. She shouts at the man and says he has to wait to be seated. He asks if there was something wrong with his table choice. "Well I wouldnt have put you there... but fine. I have tables everywhere so, you can stay there."
There are four tables total now.
She arrives to take our order. "Where the Fuck are these people coming from?!"
What did SHE JUST say!?
We order our food. She repeats back the order, writing it down and runs back to the kitchen and after 2 or 3 moments comes out to the ladies table. She is halfway between taking their orders and says "Sorry, food just went up in the window and I need to take it right now al I will be back to finish your order." Really?!?!
She failed to notice our drinks were empty as she delivered food to the guys table. She returns to the ladies table to finish their orders. She has walked past and ignored the poor man who seated himself 2 more times. Not even a drink order taken.
Our food arrives and she asks if we need anything. My friend explains his waffle is gone. She repeats her earlier statement as a couple arrive. "Where are all the fucking people coming from?" Then she spins in a circle and huffs and says she completely forgot his waffle because of all of the people. She offers to put it in and he says no because we are in a hurry and at this point he will pass. I ask for silverware and my drink 3 times and she fails to acknowledge me and is spinning in a circle at the table and tapping her fingers together and seems unable to process any stimuli. Finally, she apologizes and leaves.
She seats the couple and takes their drink order. The man is still seated alone, having swiped his own menu, and still hasn't been approached. We hear the doordash DING! and she screams "oh hell no! Jesus Christ No!"
We all looked at each other and contemplated leaving. The ladies went into the bathroom and she begins to panic assuming they walked out on her without paying. Our drinks remain empty. And no silverware has arrived.
She is stacking all the dirty dishes on the 2 tables that were unclean when we had arrived. Just piles of dirty plates. She took more steps going to that table than to the kitchen.
It was even worse, but no more room to write. read more
