We are never going back here again... My family and I would occasionally eat breakfast here on a Saturday or Sunday. After several years of our weekend ritual, we got to know many of the servers and waitstaff and always had a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Employees... Up to this point, many of the servers had been working at this location for 5+ years. Over the last several months, we have noticed that the turnover has increased all at once. Interesting... I hate finding out that employees are not treated well in any industry. Although this location had a *face-lift* several years ago, it has definitely been on the decline ever since. Some examples: It's dirty... if you are eating here, you may not want to look around too closely (ewww!), the blinds are broken and falling down, the bathroom can be slippery and dangerous and needs drainage HELP! They have switched from REAL 1/2 & 1/2 on the tables to cheaper non-dairy creamers and if you want (or even know they have the real deal) you have to request them. The napkins are now these thin crumbly things that fall apart easily - which is funny because you may have needed 2 napkins previously where now we find that we use 10+ to absorb spills from a small child. The food... ours has always been consistently decent. Since we know the servers and they know what we like, it seems things are always pretty good. There are plenty of other locally-owned places to have breakfast that we have decided NEVER to return to this place. Next time you want a GREAT breakfast, check out PEGG'S WESTERN GRILL in Martinez instead and ask for a grilled tomato to accompany your eggs - they are delicious! The restaurant is a typical IHOP. I have been there for a while. I was totally taken back when I looked at the menu. A plane waffle $9.99, egg omelette $13.50. breakfast was ok. I ate here and when did IHOP become expensive?? The food is way overpriced. $11.99 for breakfast and 3.99 for coffee,Tea which is nasty and watered down. Don't get your coffee with whip cream Bc it's so oily when it dissolves it's like you're drinking a cup of oil which you can see the oil on top of your drink. Yuck!! The waiter said they raised their prices which she didn't even know the prices for substituting smh!! And the food was not all that. I could've went somewhere else for that price and got a way better breakfast for less. Not a great restaurant, nor gourmet, but a great place to eat when you're really hungry and it's late at night and are looking for the substantial breakfast. My wife and I ordered the "split decision" menu item which, unbelievably, had two sausage, two bacon, two eggs prepared like you like and two pancakes plus 2 French toast, a whole lot of food. So I am usually not a fan of IHOP after always experiencing one disappointment after another, which pretty much goes with all IHOPs However, after seeing the temptacious advertisements for the seasonal pancakes, I figured I would give them another shot. So of course to simplify it THE SERVICE SUCKS...Well my waitress was more friendly than most, though forgetful. Anyhow, after pondering over whether to get Gingerbread pancakes, Pumpkin, Pecan Pie or Egg nog, I decided to go with the eggnog after hearing the description of the creamy custard egg nog filling (hearing anything creamy and custardy gets my taste buds going) So I knew right away what to get. So my pancakes arrive and there a descent size, not to big, 2 pancakes- with the egg nog filling sandwiched between, a dollop of the eggnog custard on top all towered with whip cream. So the one thing I noticed immediately, was the lacking of custard filling in the middle- totally the opposite of the mouth watering vision I had seen on T.V. that originally lured me in to this joint, so being me and always wanting more, I kindly asked my waitress if she could bring some more of the eggnog filling along with some more whip cream- which she gladly did. After fixing everything to my visual liking, I picked up my fork and went for the kill and I have to say despite my last not so appetizing experience, I was pleasantly surprised- custard was tasteful (could have been a little more creamier) though good along with the buttered rum butter or what ever that I drizzled on the warm pancakes melting the whip cream and custard all coming together to a mouthwatering, taste bud satisfying sensation- that was a complete surprise to previously disappointed taste buds. Despite the always and probably never changing, not so great service, my pancakes were good enough to tempt me to come back and try the other, hopefully just as good, seasonal pancakes they are offering at this time, and maybe I will avoid the not so great service and get my little Pancakes to go : ) read more

I was sitting there, eating my food and had my hand down on the seat. Felt something on my hand and there was a silverfish. Stopped eating after that. The food didn't taste great, the sauce was weird. (I don't know how else to describe it). Paid too much for not a lot of food, and for food that I ended up not eating. After looking at other reviews about this place my thoughts are the same. At 1 o'clock in the afternoon we stopped for lunch. We waited almost 45 minutes and finally I started to loose my composure. After all " how long does it take to scramble eggs and make pancakes ???" I would understand if they were busy but there was about 6 booths occupied. Then after we got the food the Pancakes were raw. This IHOP knows zero about the CITY ORDINANCE about bags. The female manager seems to think it is CA State law not to use bags. She is rude and negligent in satisfying customers needs. If you decide to get a togo order please bring serveral extra arms because they do not provide bags as the city requires all food establishment to SELL reusable bags if they are not going to have paper bags availabe. I have been going here for years and because of this manager service has gone down drastically. read more

It's dinner hour, 5:30 p.m.. Only 1 employee on duty that is hostess, cashier and server. Dining room has people already seated. I tell server how many people in our party and that we already know what we want to order. She mumbled something but not quite sure what was said. She walks by the table at least 6 times but does not seem interested in our order. After waiting a bit longer and watching this single server/cashier/hostess play busy, we get up and walk out disgusted. Poor management at this IHOP location. read more

My family and I have been going here for about 15 years so I've seen the waves and dips. It's been pretty good in the past but the last 3 times we have gone, I have noticed a severe decline in service. The host had no clue what he was supposed to do (new maybe?) and our waitress barely spoke English...I had to repeat my order three times. When we ordered our drinks we were told that all the glasses were dirty so it would be a few minutes until they were clean (as long as they are clean that's fine) but 10 minutes went by with no drinks....we had to remind her. This is the WORST place imaginable. Service was terrible, food was terrible and its a rip off. My friend ordered the turkey dinner. It looked liked someone had hacked away at the turkey and it came without gravy. When we finally tackled the waitress she said if she wanted gravy, she'd have to pay 1.50 for it. Can u believe that? A turkey dinner with no gravy! Thieves! They like to 'extra' you to make more money off you. My other friend ordered an omelette and had to pay extra for toast and then they just bring out one piece of dry toast. When she asked for some butter, the waitress says more jam??? To top it off, there's a guy washing the floor in the entrance and we were practically gagging on the overwhelming bleach fumes. Just what u need while eating. This is "my breakfast place". One of the few IHOP's that actually has fairly quick service (varies but then so does the crowd). The staff is really what makes this place - they have a few long timers who do a great job of taking care of customers. read more

I think this is only my 2nd review on yelp so it really takes a lot to get me to review. By far the worst service and food I've had in a very very long time and I don't see how somewhere as basic as IHOP can get it so wrong. My order of eggs and sausage couldn't possibly be that hard to get right but it was obvious from the moment the plate arrived that I would not be returning to this IHOP location. My partners order of chicken florentine crepes...swimming in a pool of greasy broth and loaded in over cooked melted cheese. On top of it all extremely long wait when the place wasn't even half full and the waiter had no personality what so ever. This would get at least 2 stars if not for our last trip. I've been to this location a few times since moving here. Food is a little better than the Vallejo ihop in my opinion, mostly because one time the other location served my boyfriend a "burger" that had some type of meat in it that was NOT beef! In my general opinion of ihops, the food does always look better on the menu than up close, as one reviewer mentioned. Ok about this place. Previous service was "ok" nothing to write home about. 2nd to last visit, they sat us at a table in the middle of a big room and we were pretty much ignored for a long time before we got service. People that were seated after us were already getting food by the time we were asked what we want to drink. Other times, the seating and service is ok. This last visit, which will be our last, was just not a good enough experience to repeat again. It was about 90 minutes until closing, there was only one person working the floor, and other than a big group in back, the main dining area was empty. We got seated right away and our order taken. I had seen the new beer battered fish and chips on the menu online and was really craving to try it. The menu had soup or salad included, but when I ordered, he never asked what I wanted with it. My boyfriend had a hankering for soup, so he asked what the soup of the day was and the guy told us there's no soup since they're "about to close" (an hour an a half later!) He was so disappointed but asked for a salad. Then I had to say "doesn't mine come with salad?" and he said yes (not sure why he didn't ask if that was what I wanted earlier, or ask what dressing I wanted). The salads had too much brown in them for my comfort, but then again they were "about to close" so I guess I shouldn't have expected fresh salads. Dinner came, my boyfriend said his was ok, but mine? 3 FUCKING FROZEN FISH FILETS, like van de kamps or gortons in that dumb long triangle shape. They didn't taste awful but seeing as I was expecting the 2 big filets of beer battered fish that looked beautiful on their online menu, and got nothing that was described, it was pretty disappointing. I could have had these at home for much cheaper. $9-10 for brown salad, cheap sides (that tasted ok) and frozen filets that would have cost about $1 for three if I had gotten them at the store. They really should be ashamed of themselves for offering this and serving generic frozen filets. For some reason I've been delaying to call the manager, I feel like it wouldn't do any good. read more

I've been eating breakfast at this IHOP mid-morning on weekdays 2-3 times a month for about a year and a half, and I've always had good food and I usually get very good service. Every now and then, the service is a little slow, but in general, because I get there between the morning and lunchtime crowd, I'm in and out reasonably quickly. And they've always gotten my order right. My omelette's always done just right, sometimes I have hash browns, and they're fine, too, but usually the short stack of pancakes. I've never had better (except the ones we make ourselves when we're camping.) read more

IHOP amused me far more as a teenager, but now it feels like everything they serve is nasty, greasy, and covered in sugar/syrup. Add to that this is one of the few IHOPs that are NOT 24 hours a day, and I lose almost all reason for going there other than the fact that it is 2 blocks from where I live and sometimes I just gotta eat. While I understand the whole shtick of IHOP is pancakes and greasy stuff, there should at least be some options for those of us who would like to be nourished without having a coronary. read more

Worst meal ever! If there was a zero * button I would if chosen it. There were two servers for the whole place. Went in for dinner. Ordered seasoned Fries for appetizer and got a big plate with 12 limp fries. Ordered cranberry juice and got lukewarm juice in a dirty looking glass. Ceaser salad looked like it's seen better days. Sent it back. Ordered steamed broccoli instead. Got my "grilled chicken and mashed potatoes" and was ready to leave when I tasted the potatoes and they tasted sour. The broccoli came in a huge plate with 5 little sad florets. Picked up one and it was cold kind of still frozen from the stem. Got up and paid my $24 check for the crappiest meal I never ate. Came here for breakfast. First we sat for 10min before a server even came to our table. She didn't seem like she was listening to our order because kept getting it wrong. So I ordered a Pepsi. My brother got coffee. She says waiting on glasses for my drink. Hell if I new how long it would take to wash a glass I could of used a Togo cup. My food came no drink.
