First of all service was really great, I went here with my dad and our server was fantastic. But the food was not good. The main reason we went was because of the chicken and waffles advertisements we have been seeing but when my dad tried to order it the server promptly informed us that the chicken recipe had changed and has been getting tons of complaints over quality. So we got 2 basic breakfast meals, and the hash browns were burnt, the eggs tasted powdery and the coffee was luke warm at best. It just was not worth the money it cost, definitely wont be going back. read more

I'm not a huge fan of Ihop to begin with, but my daughter loves it. Tonight we waited 20 min for our drink order to be taken, then I was given a coffee cup with lipstick all over it. We told our server and he took it away but just laughed about it. Gross. Hate to disappoint my kid, but wont be back here! read more

So I normally hate eating here and I let my husband talk to into eating this place and it never fails I get sick everytime I eat here. My food order wasn't even right it's not that hard I plane cheese burger with just mustard but no they got that wrong they gave me raw fries and my cheese sticks were burnt. WOW ! The new croissant meals are really great. I got the egg, cheese and spinach in a croissant. My wife got the strawberry and cream. Both were great. The hash browns and bacon were also very good. Karen is a friendly, upbeat, and personable waitress. Unfortunately, throughout our meal, issues kept compounding until I left feeling highly dissatisfied and completely offended. It started when my breakfast sampler arrived with all of the meat cold. I am visibly 7 months pregnant and under no circumstances can I eat undercooked breakfast meat. Karen did not arrive back at our table for at least 5-10 minutes after I took my first bite of cold sausage. I sat there not eating a bite during this time increasingly getting more and more flustered. I could see that Karen was busy she had to completely bus a table by herself (2 tables down from us), greet the guests that walked in during this time (walking past us without engaging). Finally, she did arrive back at our table. I notified her of the issue and she promptly took my plate away and brought back the same plate with the meat arranged in the exact same way, blatantly microwaved. I mentioned this to her in jest and she proudly announced yes indeed she had microwaved the whole plate herself. She left, and I refused to eat the abomination she set before me. My husband finished his meal, all of which was eaten with only one glass of tea because he never received a refill. She brought our check and we asked if we could have a quick work with the manager. RAY was explained the situation verbatim as I have typed it here. He took our check and applied an open discount of $3, to my $9 meal. When he brought it back after not apologizing a single time, it further offended me so greatly that I asked Karen to speak with Ray again. She informed me he was on the phone and busy and would be back around at some point. I waited for him to arrive and he informed me he COULD not do anything further. Still no apology received, I informed him I would be leaving precisely $23.49. At this point, he could correct his error, remove the additional $6, and insure his waitress received a tip. Alternatively, he could do nothing and let his staff go untipped which she did not deserve. He acknowledged again he would be doing nothing and it was Karen's problem to deal with. I paid Karen and informed her of the choice Ray made at her expense. She remained friendly, professional, and upbeat during the entire ordeal. Any restaurant would be lucky to have her as an employee. RAY on the other hand is whom I hold issue with. Yes his waitress had some mishaps but he accepted no responsibility, did not apologize once, and let the loss fall in the hands of a hard working server rather then accepting responsibility on the restaurant's dime. I would hate the work for such a disconnected individual who clearly cares more about his bottom dollar then employee and client retention. read more

This is my least favorite IHOP. The ownership is very rigid and not customer oriented. We have experienced this on several occasions and swear we are not going back again ever, then time passes and we forget how bad it really was and go back. We once again reminded. The latest reminder occurred when we were in around 8:00pm and they had run out of iced tea. (Who doesn't have iced tea in the South??) We asked if they would make some and they refused to make any as they would be closing in a couple of hours. I wanted to say, "Really?!? It's just water and tea bags!" We waited for over an hour and had not gotten food!! People had come in, eaten & gone. Still hadn't gotten any food!! No silverware! I didn't want to leave even a star. After talking to the manager who kept telling us that they had a huge rush which we watched & that was NOT TRUE!! That was the party line! Food is usually good and good portions. However yesterday, March 14, the music was teeny bopper, like Taylor Swift, on and on, one after the other. I actually couldn't wait to finish and leave. Probably should have something to the staff. We like coming here but this is the first time the music (do we even need music to eat by?) was very irritating. Went in there at 6:30 last night after watching a movie. There were maybe 10-15 people in the whole restaurant. Were promptly seated but after waiting 25 minutes and drink order never taken my friend and I got up and walked out. I can totally understand if they were busy but seeing as how nobody was in there and they also had plenty of servers but apparently none that want to work. The couple that was sitting behind us at least had there drink order taken but never gotten it and been there longer than we had. Terrible service and was highly disappointed because we were really wanting some breakfast food. But we went to Yuki instead and got great service as usual. When this location first opened it was great! We visited a time or two a month for a while then took a break from eating out. When we revisited this location a year later, we were quite pleased with our server, Ashley. Because of her attitude and the overall pleasing experience, we went back more often asking for her specifically. Well she left for a better job and every visit since has been horrible. The servers are always sitting in booths chatting I suppose as you walk in and then they all look at each other as if I don't want to get up! Reluctantly and with a slow motion, one rises and seats us with NO enthusiasm or pleasantness of any kind. A magazine photo has more emotion and personality than some of these servers. The overall service sux to be blunt. Words mumbled, eyes roll at requests and the waiting, oh the waiting to get a drink order, get your drinks or even the food. The times the wait was long, there were only 2-3 other booths with patrons. These Re not chefs or even cooks in the back as they are more like heater uppers. Most of the food is pre-prepped and all they do is heat it up and serve it. Not sure if it's just IHOP but honestly, I believe most of the restaurants along 150 in Hoover are on their way out because they are simply horrible. So I'd suggest that if IHOP wants to survive there, a new manager is desperately needed that can train young servers properly giving them tasks of roll playing or something to help them be more pleasant. As for the food, I already stated it mostly comes in bags ore cooked so that speaks volumes. Will we visit this location again? NOT IN THIS LIFETIME! read more

I'll start off by saying I'm an IHOP fan in general so I am a little biased going in but I can say with clarity that this is the best location I've ever been to. Part of that was it was new, and still is relatively speaking. Used to be an O'Charleys but they did something, knocked out walls or something to make the place much bigger that it was relative to seating and open air environment. The place is almost always busy but typically you get seated right away due to the size of the space. Friendly staff. Servers are usually very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food gets to you fast, regardless of how busy they are which is a wonder to me. Menu is varied and full. It also changes periodically though the staples are always going to be on there. Unique specialties that are usually delicious. I've really liked to absolutely loved everything I've ever ordered there. Ok, that does sound very homerish. Last thing about it is if you live in Hoover and probably other Metro Birmingham locales TakeOut Birmingham, will deliver IHOP to your door. This friends, is a dangerous proposition and one that has already added numbers to my waist. I'm on the wagon with IHOP but she's a temptress. I don't hold out much hope on a Non-IHOP strategy. It's a five star eating experience but it is definitely NOT good for your health, so a solid 4 with disclaimer is what I'm going with. read more

The food was good but I had ordered the chicken and waffles and the server, I believe her name was Daniella, noticed that my waffles were a bit overdone and brought me out a new waffle without me having to ask. The experience started off rocky. My wife and I ordered a tall stack of pancakes (5 pancakes) for each of us and our server brought us each, a single pancake. On top of that, it was cold. So much so, that NONE of the butter was melted. When we reiterated that we wanted a "tall stack", so she proceeds to bring us back 4 pancakes...counting the first cold pancake as part of the 5 in our order. I've given this restaurant 4 chances. Of the four, this is the first where I've actually received my food. The service was awful. My server, Laura, acted as if my daughter and I were the biggest inconvenience in the world. She never introduced herself. After getting our drink order, she walked off- without asking if we were ready to order. We got our drinks pretty quickly, mine was disgusting. We didn't see her again until she was half-throwing our food on the table. After we had our food, we didn't see her again. She never asked if we wanted refills - both mine and my daughter's cups were empty shortly after we got our food- nor if we needed anything else during our meal. After I had moved most of the plates and other items to the end of the table, she came back - not to ask if we needed anything to continue eating - asking if we needed any to-go boxes. I'm sure she expected a tip, but it seems like she would have taken an interest in the guests. This is the worst IHOP EVER!! They should be closed. read more
