9/10/26 My husband & I stopped by Captain D's around noon today. We went in and ordered two delicious meals. It was brought to our table within five minutes, nice and hot. Everything was very clean. We did an online order after church and it was ready when we arrived and at the scheduled time. It has been awhile since I have gone inside a Captain D's but it seemed remodeled and modern on the inside. The food was what is to be expected at Captain D's. Everything! My wife and I were just there. The 3 piece fish dinner was horrible. The fish tasted like old chicken. The fries were in the cold slaw. My wifes shrimp were undercooked along with the hushpuppies. The cold slaw was full of mayo. I'm a disabled Air Force Veteran of 23 years. My service dog wouldn't eat it either. Close it down. I will get reviews to the VA in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham so no other Veteran gets this. read more

I came here on 02/15/25 to dine in. I received fast and friendly service. My food was hot and fresh! I ordered a 3 piece fish with coleslaw and fries. I also had tea to drink but they didn't have any lemons. My only complaint or suggestions is to clean up the dining area a little more. The trash bin was overflowing. Went here reluctantly given the sad appearance of the place. Old faded, dirty awnings outside desperately need replacing, inside the drop ceiling tiles are discolored, again need replacing. The man taking orders was a great asset to the place, knew the entire menu, made suggestions to save and get more food, very friendly and helpful. Shout Out-1st night of Lent. Got there at 735pm, they were packed inside & drive thru. Waited about 10 minutes to get served bc short staffed. However cashier, only person up front running drive thru as well, was so kind, calm & pleasant. The 2 cooks in back were just as nice & pleasant. The food was great. They were working so hard, we felt bad for them. Amazing service and great food. Thank you for your hard work and pleasant demeanor. read more

Last Thursday, 7/10/25, stop by for the Lobster Roll, tv and print ads show lobster meat. What I got was two scoops of a chopped/diced/ shredded unrecognizable seafood meat (I think) on a bun. Wrote to corporate, and heard nothing back. Good promo which fails to deliver. read more

Horrible service. Came inside and nobody to take your order. Guy working drive through finally called for help from the back. He couldn't ring up the order and asked the other guy how to do it. They never got it right I asked for the DM name and phone number but they refused to give it to me. I told him if he worked for me that I would fire him. He told me they wouldn't fire him anyway because they can't keep any help in this store . read more

Resturant was not busy. I saw a $5.99 meal advertised on a board when I walked in. I asked for the $5.99 meal and the one taking my order was not familiar with it so to simply things I ordered off the main menu. I got my drink and sat down. I watched cars come and go through the drive in and people receiving their food in the dining room for 25 minutes. ( time not exaggerated. checked against receipt) I got up and approached the counter. Initially no one was there but the one who took my order came from the back. I apologized and said that I had to get back to work. He/She ask me what I ordered. The question confused me because I was the only one in the dining room at that time. To avoid any further confusion to him/her I left. I reentered the restaurant realizing I had forgotten to ask for a refund. He/She again ask what I ordered. I said that after 25 minutes you didn't know my order. He/She turned angrily around and told a gentleman behind the counter " YOU NEED TO TALK TO HIM. I DONT HAVE TIME FOR ASSHOLES!! I extended my receipt to him/her but she walked away and the gentleman behind the counter came and asked if I wanted a refund or my food. I said I want a refund and I would like to give it to him/her for upsetting him/her. I again apologized for the confusion and left. I was in military uniform at the time. It is my belief he/she has a problem with members of the military. I cannot recommend this restaurant to members of the military. read more

The time about 2:00 p.m. I went through the drive-thru and ordered their number four which consisted of four pieces of fish, coleslaw and french fries. I drove around to the other side of their parking lot and parked and opened my dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. However it was short-lived. The lady at the drive-thru took my order and the order was correct. Their fish was the biggest I've ever seen. It has been years since I went through it. Captain D's drive-thru but I've never seen fish this big before. However, the fish was mostly batter. So much so that the batter was dough on the inside. I don't know if it's because I was eating raw dough or what but it gave off this raunchy aftertaste. The coleslaw was to my locking in the French fries. Well they were just french fries. I had been craving Captain D's for the last several days and I was very disappointed in this meal read more

Nice fast food seafood restaurant. The food is always hot to order and customer service is usually on point. The pricing is just right with the monthly coupon selection. Oh yeah, the portion size is filling as well and they load you down with condiments. I've never had a problem at this location after coming here about six years. read more

I've ordered from different restaurants on your app. Out of the last orders I have gotten most of my food with it even being cold or half of it not delivered. This is not the way to run a business,for the amount the amount I paid( which I'm not complaining about) it should be at least warm and a complete order. l'm not sure if it was the driver or the restaurant but they need to get their act together. read more

Okay, when you go to a fast-food place, you are not expecting gourmet cuisine. This, though, is pretty good for the price. My fish and shrimp dish was hot and properly cooked. The batter has a bit more salt than I like. But, I enjoyed my meal and left feeling this was a great value. I liked the variety of sauces they had. Try the dipping sauce. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was efficient. I will go back. read more

It has been a while since I had Captain D's. I thought I would give the another try. I ordered two deluxe seafood platters. When I got home both dinners had 2 pieces of cold fish, cold hushpuppies, cold slaw not fresh , stuff crabs and fries taste like they were cooked yesterday. No shrimp iin either box.(12). A disaster! Pretty good meal for the price, and of course I love the hush puppies.... plus they have added new stuff to the menu that give you healthier options like the tilapia. ... and i always get broccoli as a side its not the best but hey... but main point is that the drinks are good and the fish is good for Captain D's standards and prices. read more

So I've seen a few reviews on Captain Ds lately and it made me want to try it. I can't remember the last time I've had Captain Ds. Tonight I grabbed some fish and sides to go as my son wanted McDonalds and I don't particularly care for McDonald's. This location is right next to a McDonald's so seems like a good time to give it a shot. The cashier was friendly. I was served promptly. The food took a while, which surprised me. When my order was ready the kid revealed the plate to me like a pizza joint would. I nodded got some tater sauce and left to eat my meal in the McDonald's dining area. I somewhat regretted my decision prior to the first bite. To my surprise the fish was super hot and crispy. Freshly prepared. Wasn't bad, just wasn't anywhere near as good as I remembered. Neither were the hush puppies. The fries were different/ better than I remembered. The okra "premium" side was the weirdest okra I've ever had in my life. It was lava hot but not crisp. It was like boiled okra encapsulated in a soggy batter. I'm not mad I tried it again. They've changed and so have I. Super greasy overly battered cheap quality fish isn't as good as it used to be. Crispy bits of batter in the bottom of the plate, or crackling as one guy called them as he asked for 2 sides of them with his meal, used to be a bonus now they kinda grossed me out in their respective small pools of grease. Don't get me wrong when I was a kid this place was awesome. The service and freshly prepared meal were far better than average fast food. I'd order that meal again minus the okra over McDonalds any day. I may get the urge to order up some Captain Ds again one day. I just don't see it in happening anytime soon. read more

Staff making fun of customers go through the drive thru,not courteous at all,need more training on Customer service

We have been to this location before, and had good results. However, today we will reconsider for a while, and here's why. We went in around 3 pm on a wednesday, and it wasn't terribly busy. There were a few people waiting near the ice machine, since they were out, which they fixed very quickly. However, we, and a few others as well, waited for our food for at least 20 mins, if not a bit longer. When our food arrived, it was over fried but also barely warm. My husband returned our trays to the front, since all three plates were cool enough to be unpleasant. He asked for a manager, who we'd seen yelling at the single cashier to do pretty much everything in the store, while disappearing into the back frequently. The biggest issue, however, is that when he present our issue, the manager said, "And?" and nothing else. He asked for his money back, rather than deal with another wait. When she refunded our order to his card, she then said "It's gonna take 24 hours to go back on your card so don't call and complain." So we're going to give this location some time to improve once more before we return. read more

This was the second visit this year for us at this location, and we again experienced the same type of problems as the first time. Was hoping our last visit was just a caught them on a bad day type of thing, but I guess not. We again found dirty tables in the dining area, and had to settle for one that we didn't really want to sit at. I visited the men's bathroom, which smelled terrible and was not clean and reported it, again! She did not visit the women's room. The staff here is not the friendliest, but will get you what you need if you ask for it; just seems like they are rather reluctant to do so. Or, are more concerned about their plans for later on as we overheard a conversation that they were having among the employees. The food was very good, however all of the sauces at the condiment table were empty, except for the cocktail sauce. We reported it and they gave us "to go" packets of sauces. We decided that we won't be coming back to this restaurant again, and I hate it because I love Captain D's food and the convenience of the location. Hope this helps. read more
