I told him it was my first time there and asked him to make me the best roll he could. He prepared it right in front of me, which I appreciated because I'm very particular about food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation. I was impressed by the preparation and couldn't wait to dig in! The Hamachi Roll was excellent! Oversized, generously loaded with fresh fish, and finished with just the right amount of spicy kick. And at $15, it was so filling that I was completely satisfied! Ambiance was definitely lively cause you're literally in a market. Definitely a great first impression. I'll be back to try more of their menu!

8/15/26 I do really like Lomi Oio and their version is so delicious and not offered all the time…read more First of all the consistency of the fish was not creamy soft like Chinese style fish cake or other versions of watered down Lomi Oio It had a nice texture n chew to it... Backyard Kine! The ingredients; chili pepper (see my pic), Kukui nut, Limu, green onions n just the right amount of salt... so simple Usually I like to dip in chili pepper water n shoyu but never need Poke located in their "Fish Market" separate from food stall location And they offer lots of fresh seafoods; live crab, salmon, ahi... I can't tell you how much I love this place. If I can't decide where to get dinner, this is where I…read morealways end up. They have the best poke/sashimi hands down. Their fish is always fresh. They also sell Hawaiian food such as kalua pork and laulau. Their salmon belly plate was my favorite. Now, I have a new favorite. It's the hamachi kama plate $15.95. It comes with your choice of poke, kim chee, taegu and rice sprinkled with furikaki. I get the ahi wasabi with soy sauce. I didn't realize that they sold jelly fish until my friend bought me some. It's around $17 a pound. I get a quarter pound and it comes out to a little over $4. I love the crunchy texture and how they season it. It goes perfectly with the white rice. Looking from the outside, I know this place looks like a hole in the wall. Trust me, it's one of the best poke that you'll ever have.

It was a buffet table for flies. Fact: It take 1.5sec for a fly to vomit upon landing. The front window sill lined with dead flies. If you dont believe me go check it out and order some to go. I dare you. It became a "dare" situation. Yes, we ate it and Im still here to leave them a review. Fish was firm and and not fishy. Out of sight out of mind I guess.

Lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. I asked my sister what she wanted to eat for her birthday: Dimsum! I suggested that we go to this new location of Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. She agreed! The covered parking lot is free! Just follow the signs and park in the designated numbered stalls. Inside, it was crowded and noisy! I wrote our name on the list and got called quickly! My sister wrote our order on the menu: shrimp dumplings, seaweed roll, deep fried taro puffs, shrimp and chive dumplings, mochi rice, pork-filled deep fried mochi, and custard tarts. Later, we added on an order of house noodles... they were thin, crisp, and tasty! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! Service was efficient! There were different people delivering baskets and plates to our table. They just crossed off menu items on the printed list as they arrived. My sister and her husband were really happy with this meal! I was, too! Note: i even took home the leftover noodles! Yay!

We had been to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant several times at its old location across from Ala Moana…read moreMall, and it used to be a five-star place for us. The new location is only about a block away, with a much nicer, newer interior. Unfortunately, the food seems to have changed much more than the address We ordered four dishes: mochi rice, pork buns, siu mai, and chicken feet. Almost everything arrived cooler than it should have. The chicken feet and siu mai were warm rather than hot, while the pork buns were closer to cold. More importantly, it wasn't just a temperature problem. The chicken feet in particular tasted noticeably worse than before, lacking the flavors and spices we remembered. The mochi rice was the most normal of the four, but even that felt fairly unremarkable There was a table next to us that came in excited to have dimsum. And watching their reaction, they came to the same conclusion as us -- food was cold, and flavors were off. We went on a weekday, so it's possible the kitchen was different that day, but the drop in quality was hard to ignore. The restaurant wasn't busy, service was good, and prices seemed unchanged from our previous visits. The new space is a clear improvement, but based on this meal, the food unfortunately went in the opposite direction. We likely won't be coming back
