Tiny sushi spot near the airport in the Nimitz shopping center. I ordered online via DoorDash and walked over from my hotel. My order was ready on time and was fresh. The gentleman behind the counter was nice and brought my food out to me once it was ready. The spicy tuna bento was filling and with two hand rolls, my mom and I were stuffed. The spicy tuna was nice, didn't taste overly fishy and the sauce was good. I really liked the kimchi spam hand roll! Very different from what I'm used to. This place is a gem. Food is excellent and super fresh. Fun rolls and great very full hand rolls. The rice ratio was perfectly balanced since some places make their rolls full of rice. We ordered to go, and it took about 20 Minutes which was pretty good considering the amount of food we ordered. The owners are super nice and personable, they are so kind and we loved their recommendations on the rolls. I am feeding 3 growing boys with large appetites who aren't eating a few pieces, these boys are eating as if this is their last meal. I called to order 3 items (mercy bento, crab tobiko maki, and regular udon). The man who took my order first said it would be ready in 15 minutes then said 30 minutes. Although that seemed long I said yes and was willing to wait. I arrive exactly at 30 minutes. I grabbed an Arizona green tea can and placed it on the counter. The man who took my order tells me my order will be up momentarily and proceeded to ring my order up (45.89). I ask him if my order is ready and if not I will cancel it. He proceeds to say "WOW" while giving me a very rude approach. I tell him I placed the phone order because I have to get back to work. Attitude doesn't lessen and he presents me with my credit card receipt and says "you know what to do". I ask him if he included the Arizona tea with the order? He replies with "I don't care about it, it doesn't matter". Well I do care and to me it does matter, so I put the can back and grab my order which actually took more than the 3 minutes he said it would take. Because I wasn't presented with an itemized receipt I have no idea if I did or didn't pay for the tea. What I will state, is I will NEVER return to that location again. What a nice find this place was! We were catching a flight back to the mainland and had about three hours to kill. We wanted to try one last restaurant before heading to the airport. I figured we'd just drive around not far from the airport and found this industrial park-like setting with several restaurants. There were a lot of people inside Aloha Sushi compared to the other places; so we decided to eat there. The place is small with about three or four bar stools at a bar counter near the front window. This is mostly a take-out place, but don't let that fool you. This place packs them in for good reason. I ordered an Unagi Roll and Inari. Chris ordered a Dragon Maki. The owner takes the orders and his employees does the rest. It's like a well oiled machine. He shouts out the orders to the employees in back through a Japanese Noren curtain and in minutes your order is ready. After our orders were ready, we decided to eat them in the car. I was surprised at the size of my Unagi roll. It was bigger than I expected and delicious too. It had a nice sweetened soy flavor. My Inari was the best. I loved the flavor of the fried bean curd pockets. It was sweet and savory with a touch of vinegar from the sushi rice. My wife loved her Dragon Maki. I tried it and it was very good. The filling was creamy in texture with a hint of crab flavor. It had a little crunch from the vegetable! This place puts out quality food! They developed a following and the constant lines are proof. This place continues to be the hidden gem you never knew existed and wish you knew about sooner. Within this Aloha Sushi exists one of the best spicy ahi bowls i have ever tasted. The spicy ahi donburi's creaminess is accompanied by tobiko, a nice amount of avocado, and deliciously fresh cucumber. The spicy sauce is not too spicy and not too bland, perfectly delicious. It also comes with a nice comforting bowl of miso soup to balance the spiciness. While eating inside is nice, it's in an industrial area so there's not too many places to sit. I prefer to get takeout. The workers are always extremely courteous and friendly and have never had a problem with any of my orders. For twelve years I've been coming to this shop to get the spicy ahi donburi and the only time IM disappointed is when my bowl is empty. They get plenty parking in the front. This is my favorite sushi spot on the island! I've been eating sushi here since I was a kid because my mom liked it. Their spicy sauce is unique and tastes really good with actual heat! I love their poké (regular and spicy are both good) and I love anything with their spicy sauce on it. This small business is family owned and full of love and kindness. The dragon roll was just ok, a little to much mayo:( The volcano roll was delicious!!! I mean delicious! I will most likely go back and get two of those kinds of rolls! Cute and clean place but water drops from AC unit onto the table in the corner which landed on our study materials, thankful we found out before we got our food. Customer service is decent, he answers questions and asks if we like wasabi, soysauce and ginger with our food. But I guess they dont have complementary water like other places offer. And sushi is same price as other small places like this one as mentioned below. Lowered star because for the price it is half the sushi you get at Makiki sushiman or Ahi Vegetable. Same prices all average a $12 maki in most sushi places, and what i ordered at Aloha Sushi was the quality of a $4 maki. Not happy about the quality AND quantity. Came here because it was convenient for my friend to meet up, but I'll never come back here. Others who think this is best sushi have yet to explore all the sushi places on island -- I've been to at least 15 places all around Oahu I have yet to review. read more
