Our HVAC was cooling until it didn't on one of the hottest days in history (literally 114F). Vic was booked solid, but still coordinated with me to come check out the unit at 10 PM! We determined that the compressor wasn't compressing enough and even after adding more refrigerant, the pressure still didn't budge. Our ac started blowing warm air through the vents. I contacted several companies, its in the middle of a hot summer so nobody could come out right away. Some didnt even return my calls. Vic was one of the few that did return my call and was honest that he couldnt make it till the evening, which i booked. Luckily, i had texted him my address and he was otw to purchase parts and realized i was otw. He called me and came early. He ran multiple diagnostics. Turned out he had to replace 2 parts. He thoroughly explained to me why and how ac works. He also showed me the old parts and ran it through a diagnostic meter to show me that it was legitimately broken. Very honest. Very thorough. VIC IS A GODSEND!! My wife and I have lived in our Pasadena Craftsman for 13 years. Every summer, as soon as the weather turns significantly hotter, the a/c breaks. We must have used four or five different companies to repair the unit over these past 13 years. This summer the unit finally appeared to break for good. A tech from yet another company came out and replaced the compressor, the condenser, the quick starter, and the dryer. After one week, the unit was down again. After three more service calls, we gave up on this guy. Long story short, two more techs came out and the unit broke again last Thursday. Luckily, I then found Vic. Vic explained what was actually wrong with the unit (a comedy of errors - wrong fuses, wrong condenser, wrong quick starter) and repaired the unit in about two hours after he got the right parts. It is doubtful the compressor ever needed to be replaced to begin with. The a/c is now purring like a kitten. I called about ten repairmen on a Friday at about 4PM. Not one would come out same day. I explained what was wrong to Vic and he showed up at 9PM. He assessed the problem and repaired the unit. He warned me the unit was on its last legs but he would do what he could. He came out a few days later with no additional charge to give it one last repair. During this time i decided to repair my entire unit. Vic gave me a quote about 20% less than other outfits. He was able to replace the AC unit and furnace the next day. In addition, he added a door to the unit to make it easier to change the air filter. In addition to that, he placed sheet metal around the base of the entire unit. Vic and his team were very clean in their work and cleanup. He was always prompt, answered all my questions, and was professional. Outstanding service. Vic is the man. He was actually called out by the property manager for the condo we're renting. Air conditioner went out on Saturday. Vic came out Saturday evening to assess and determine the problem. Through a series of snafus related to the property manager's misunderstanding (or lack of understanding) of the insurance company's requirements, he was not allowed to actually fix the problem until Thursday. He returned at least twice during this time to accommodate the property manager and insurance company's requests.
