    We came here on a Saturday night with a reservation. I haven't been here in years but I remember loving this place. I wanted to give it another try. I ordered a lychee chuhi. And for entrées, we ordered the pork belly shabu with ichiriki broth. The broth is very tasty. I usually always order sukiyaki broth at shabu shabu but this might be better!! I love all the toppings and sides it comes with. We both got Udon and then ordered a side of enoki mushrooms. I remember these used to come w the set but when ordering it on the side, they do give a decent amount! Service is always great here. Parking i believe was $4 for 2 hours!

    Let's just say I've been here for years and still hands down the BEST shabu place I've had! Meat qualities are amazing! I've always love the angry goma with short rib! Added the wagyue last time with chicken meat balls. Amazing broth and I love the service every time I'm there! The owners and employees are always welcoming. The ambiance is of the traditional Japanese decor. I too love the desserts. Always walked out with full belly lol. I love here bc of quality of meats and it's very important when you are eating shabu shabu. I will continue to come here whether I'm in town.

    We went on a Thursday evening around 7pm and were seated immediately. They have options for table seating or the Japanese-style floor seating, but the latter section was full. I ordered the dinner shabu short rib set which comes with assorted vegetables, rice, udon, and yuzu kosho and sesame paste sauces. You also have a choice for the main soup (I picked the yuzu one), and the food comes out pretty quickly. The meat quality was pretty good, cooking quickly in the soup and staying juicy, while the vegetables seemed decent. I went with my partner that ordered a nabe set, and the total came out to ~$80 after tax and tip. Unfortunately at that price point, I'd rather do an AYCE option to get more meat, but this is a good try if you're in the area.

    This restaurant is much smaller than the other location(s?), so very easy to miss while driving pass Pi'ikoi! However, what it doesn't miss on is flavor! They have Paitan, which is my favorite broth ever at any hot pot spot! My server was such a nice server, I really felt taken care of. As busy as he was, he took his time to make sure I had everything I needed for a great meal! I also asked for a sauce he recommended and he definitely delivered. His name was Chris, i believe. The cuts of the wagyu were perfect and very melt like butter fatty goodness. I always enjoy the tsukune! The stick to make the meatball things with the spoon. Not sure if one of the spoons I had was too big and I am not sure that was the right stick for it. It was still bamboo at least! A must have is the enoki mushrooms!!!! The mushroom medley is by far my favorite apps here. I enjoyed a nice little salty, savory, umami deliciousness! I will probably do the same thing I did. I went during the midweek last week Thursday! The one reason I can't stop bragging about the service is, I know it's sooo easy for large tables to be more tended to from servers by default, but I still had great service and great food! Overally, I will definitely be back and will probably order the same and request for the same server! Price wise, it is a bit on the "abover average" range, but for what it's worth... the quality of the meat and service surpasses more than exceptional! I hope to try the Pork or Kobe set. You can never go wrong with the Wagyu though, so that and Enoki is a must! All staff were super friendly and checked in on me quite frequently. One of the more caucasian busser/server may have been a touch overbaring and almost cleared something I wasn't quite done yet. But, overall.... A great experience and I will be back for more!

    One of the best Japanese restaurants on the island. Bentos are large and only $20. Shave ice really good and only $6. Food was fresh and good quality. Service was efficient. Atmosphere felt like Japan. Next door to thrills ice cream. There is parking behind building or you can walk from Ala moana.

    This is now my second time eating here, and it definitely won't be my last! The location is pretty convenient next to Ala Moana, but there are limited parking options. I have lucked out both times that I've gone and found street spots just in front of the restaurant. I believe there's a small paid lot behind the building, but I hate parking in paid lots cause they're often expensive. If you can walk or get dropped off, then there's no worry on parking! For seating, there are seemingly two main options. They have in-ground seats that require you to essentially sit on the floor, as well as a more traditional booth seating. If you have any mobility limitations or challenges, you should request a booth when making a reservation. The booths do have small pillow style cushions on them, but they are a bit thin, so the hard seating isn't super comfy. Probably better for their table turnaround times though since you're maybe less inclined to loiter... If you're in a wheelchair, it may be harder to navigate the tighter spaces and I'm not sure they'd have many, if any*, options. *disclaimer is we didn't have anyone in our group in a wheelchair, so may have just not noticed the option(s) that would have been accessible. The staff are polite and are pretty good at finding the balance with being attentive but not annoying. They're also helpful if you need guidance on ordering or if you have questions on the menu. While it's not exactly a "budget" option, the food is reasonably priced and seemingly justified for the quality. I ordered the shabu shabu set option and they made some veggie swaps for me, which was nice. You get sauce options included, but the broth was flavorful enough that I ended up not even using them. If you enjoy local Japanese food and/or shabu shabu, this is worth a try!

    Came to ichiriki for their late night happy hour. Overall the experience was nice. The tables are sectioned off with walls so it makes it a bit harder to call for your waiter unless you see them passing by the back of you. We found ourselves looking for our waiter a few times so attentiveness wasn't 5/5. But they were helpful in answering all of our questions! The food was good. The Korean fried chicken is always a hit, the sauce is particularly good! Although I do feel like their prices are a bit high for what you get out of the hotpot meal. I'm glad we went during happy hour so we could get some pupus that were discounted. Overall a nice experience with no major issues! Definitely give them a try if you haven't yet! Maybe even request the traditional Japanese floor seating if you'd like a more "authentic" experience

    Ichiriki is my go to hot pot/nabe place! I've been coming in here for year and love the chanko sets! Chanko sets come with a variety of veggies (usually Napa cabbage and carrots) piece of chicken, arabiki, 1 shrimp, tofu, mushroom with your choice of protein. You also pick your broth, I prefer the Ichiriki but have also tried pirikara and curry. You also get to pick ramen, udon, or zosui. Personally the curry goes best with zosui because they give cheese too! Usually service is pretty good. Food always comes out fast, however this last time our sever didn't check on us that much for water refills which was unfortunate. Happy hour is until 6p everyday then there's a late night happy hour from 9p. Small parking lot in the back that you can pay by phone I believe.

    Another office birthday celebrated here!!! Rib Eye Shabu Shabu with Ginger Salt broth is my new go to, with udon. Why? More protein. The same goes for half our team, Yum! We love this restaurant, and we wipe out every morsel of food, I am NOT kidding. In fact, the birthday celebrant will also take your extra rice and sauce if necessary, even though the restaurant would be more than happy to bring more upon request. Our newest co-worker opted for katsu teishoku. At first "look" he wasn't too enthused... but upon "tasting" his food, he thought the chicken was flavored really well and he was pleasantly surprised. Yes, he too, wiped out everything, except maybe a few slivers of cabbage. Dessert is usually strawberry shaved ice with ice cream and mochi... but this time I tried the Taiwanese mango shaved ice with ice cream, mochi and azuki beans. Oh my, it'll be SO hard to choose between the two in the future. The mango flavors are fresh, tangy, and sweet, and it was so yummy! New blessings: Free Kids Meal (10 years old and under) is being offered on a Tuesdays and Wednesdays!! See photo. Parking- DO park in the lot behind the restaurant. DON'T scan the QR code in the lot. The lot's sign has an extra note from ICHIRIKI, recommending that you scan the QR Code INSIDE the restaurant to receive the first 90 minutes of parking FREE and enjoy lower rates. There is an option to increase time if you're running over, and you'll get an email confirmation. We sat in the tatami area this time, which requires removing shoes, stepping up a pair of stairs and having your feet dangling below the table. Walk in with no stairs is also available, so no worries there. Restrooms are bright and clean and they have a women's restroom which accommodates wheelchairs. (They are still working on giving us back door access to the parking lot, after they move all the stored items, heh heh.). Until then, let's get our steps in by walking around the building to the front entrance! Enjoy!

    Ichiriki has been a recurring character since my college days - a loyal sidekick through late nights and post-finals celebrations. It's been a minute since my last dip in their bubbling broth, but when a friend visiting town suggested a trip down memory lane, we rounded up the UH squad for a nostalgic dinner. Reservations exist, but lines? Never seen one. Location: On Piikoi St, sandwiched between Kona and Hopaka Sts. It's one of the more noticeable storefronts in the building, so no GPS gymnastics required. Parking: I saved gas by strolling over (perks of living nearby), but for everyone else - park at the corner lot diagonal from the restaurant. You know which one. Atmosphere: Cozy izakaya vibes - part sit-down tables, part tatami setup complete with zabuton cushions. The tatami section = shoes off, so beware of which socks you wear that day. If sitting seiza makes your knees cry, fear not - there's legroom under the table so you don't feel like you're in posture purgatory. Once that gas burner fires up, it's officially shabu-shabu o'clock. Expect a chorus of chatter - families, friends, and pau hana hangouts in full swing. Food: We went for a broth buffet - pirikara, paitan, curry, and one of their newer fusion flavors (mine had a name my brain refused to retain... rhyme game strong). Each broth arrives with a mini harvest festival tray: a bowl of rice, a generous serving of vegetables, tofu, mushrooms, and thinly sliced protein of your choice, plus ramen or udon noodles. Sauces on the table are self-serve. It's very Stardew Valley meets hot pot - you, the humble farmer, reaping the fruits (and, uh... livestock) of your labor. Wholesome, hearty, and just a touch existential. My ritual? Ladle the broth onto rice for that ochazuke-esque bite, top with the cooked goodies, and finish with a drizzle of sauce. Portion sizes are kanak attack worthy - I was so full that my udon noodles were basically chilling in an onsen watching me struggle. The only bummer was receiving the wrong broth, which I didn't realize until after the fact. Still good, just not my destined flavor soulmate. Drinks: Waters all around for us, but they've got a decent selection of both boozy and not-so-boozy options if you'd rather sip than simmer. Service: Sweet waiter, slightly scatterbrained energy - clearly juggling too many pots (literally). Almost served another table's dinner? Check. Replacement pot also wrong? Double check. Since my broth was a new menu item, I had no baseline for the taste until the receipt revealed I'd been catfished by a soup. Everyone else's orders? Perfection. Mine? Chaos. Toss in a phantom menu item no one ordered... well, it added some unintended plot spice to the night. (Credit where due - our waiter fixed the bill. Always check your receipts, folks.) Price: Around $47 - a bit steep for shabu-shabu, but you'll waddle out feeling satisfied. Would I return? No question. I'm chalking up the mishap as a one-off since Ichiriki's been consistently solid over the years. Until next time, sweet broth...

    For some reason, whenever I visit, there's a long wait time. Parking can also be difficult to find at this location, especially when they're busy. I recommend trying out the 'Aiea location if this happens to you too. The ambiance is similar to the 'Aiea location and share the same menu.

    Late Night Happy Hour starts at 9 pm until close. TOTALLY worth it. I forget about Early Happy Hour, maybe 5 pm I think? Just call them and ask!

    Does this place have any MSG in their dishes/nabe stock?

    They dont add any additional MSG besides what is already inside the shoyu (maybe dashi?) that they use. So whatever has shoyu probably contains MSG.

    Always wanted to go to their shop but since it's far from where we live, I didn't make it out…read morethere: We finally went to Kansai Yamato because my boyfriend wanted to try their fresh mango mochi. I've always been a fan of them since they were in the old 99 Ranch so I wasn't complaining about going there lol. We parked in the open lot on the left of the store. But you could also park in the parking inside. When we entered, it's a very small store that's hard to walk around if there's people in there with you. We got the fruit parfait cups, the fresh mango mochi, and the ones on the stick (which I forgot to take a pic of). The parfait cups were good with cream cheese, strawberries, and mochi. I didn't care for the mochi with the sweet soy sauce on it although I know that's what Japan is known for. And the fresh mango mochi was good. The only thing I didn't like was the Lima bean paste inside. I'm not a fan of that. I would recommend eating fast since it's fresh and the wetness of the mango can make the mochi soft and rip. I'm glad we got to try new items. Can't wait to go back and get their peanut butter mochi and other favs. The cashier that helped us was very nice and gave us a bag even though we said we didn't need one. If you love mochi, this place is for you!
