I was here several years ago and new to sushi. I think I have become accustomed to more variety and now Ichibon's isn't quite up to standards. Metal spoons for my miso limited roll choices. To much of a hassle to order off menu because it takes twice as long as usual. So this will be my last visit. Service is fine and the place is clean. First off, I understand that everyone is doing their best during COVID, so this review is not unreasonable. Ordered online, 30 min wait--ok. Went at appointed pickup time and sushi chefs were preparing the rolls at the time. Okay, there was a large dine in crowd and this could be expected. Portion sizes and presentation are great, packaging was good for transport. Bag was well stocked with sauces and utensils. Chicken fried rice was yummy and a large portion to feed 4-5 people. We ordered Kemah crunch roll, the Tokyo night roll, and the snow crab roll. Considering all three used premium ingredients, they were very underwhelming to eat. The presentation of each roll was beautiful and appetizing, but that was it. The rolls did not have much flavor or "wow" to offset being $15-20 each. read more

My food was great. Service was spot on. The chef was fun and welcoming. Food was delicious and hot. The place is very spacious.

We have 5 people and they had us there waiting for other people to come so we waited 10 minutes before we could order luckily no one took the spot. obviously not practicing social distancing. I've been to two other Ichibon locations they're all great but this location in particular was my favorite the waiter and the chef were very good they definitely went above and beyond great attitude. And of course the food was amazing as always we got the Ichibon for two which I believe is a very good price for the amount of food you get. I enjoyed the vegetable stir fry. Only complaint I have is the salad. As someone who does not eat meat and opts for vegan options and having said that I still get a salad with no warning that included crab meat. I did not enjoy it for that reason but other than that the vegetable dinner was delicious. I loved the vegetables they included and fried for me. At one point one of the other guest was a bit upset they didn't get any of the vegetables he prepared for me. They were as delicious as they looked and was pleasantly surprised with my dinner and happy. They could have told me the salad included meat as it was not stated in the menu. read more

The food was very reasonably priced and very good. I'm not a huge sushi fan but am starting to like it more and more. I got the Salmon Skin rolls and the crab puffs and they were both really tasty. The service was fast and I think my whole meal before tax and tip was $7.50. It was very filling and it was my first time there and now I definitely would like to go back sometime soon. read more

Our steam table chef blew it... sloppy, skipped part of the show, didn't make the food correctly, teriyaki sauce in rice, collapsed volcano and still pushed the rings along with train. My mom, brother and I were at the end of the table and got a MUCH smaller portion of veggies than those earlier in the distribution chain. Food was riddled with pepper, my mom couldnt eat hers. Chef didn't do the rice toss, always fun. He said that he didn't have enough rice. Been going here for 8 years and it has definitely gone down hill!! Only in town for 2- nights it was very nice to be at a Hibachi that hat late hours during the week. Customer service was excellent and the cooks where very entertaining with much skill. Food was delicious and prepared to what was ordered. Waiter had confused our ordered at first but the cook got it right. Definitely will return!! read more

This place was pretty terrible. Just about everything I asked for they were out of. The waiter was rude and acted like I was annoying him by asking for things they were out of (which I would have no way of knowing) then tried to argue with me that items on the menu that were clearly different (giant clam vs red clam, unagi vs anago) were the same thing. I finally just ordered a couple rolls. The fried crawfish roll was legitimately decent, the firecracker roll was pretty terrible. The salmon was bad quality, chewy, and smelled like bait. Ichibon has two sections the one that is a sit down and order with a waiter and then there is a side that will cook your food right in front of you and give you a fun show while doing so. The downfall to sitting in the section where they do that is because if you don't have a big party (I'm thinking that would be about 10 to fill one half of the table, it will be you and your date you want to impress after homecoming and then a lot of strangers sitting everyone else. However this food seems to be a lot more fresh and better than the other side. My parents and I went to the sit down and order side recently and it was AWFUL! The chicken meat was not fresh or good. My mom an I got the teriyaki chicken and had to spit out multiple times. The teriyaki chicken was dry, some pieces were fatty, and some pieces at the muscle that we couldn't chew through. read more

I love the shrimp tempura although I wish they gave more than just 3. It is an appetizer, but I eat it as the meal. I wasn't impressed with the sushi and the hibachi is too much. Tried this location for the first time over the weekend and was very impressed! I ordered the combination bento box and everything was great including the miso soup and salad. My only complaints were that I ordered diet coke and got regular and the sushi roll that I got with the box was gross. However, I don't fault them on the roll, it was a Cajun crunch roll and thinking back on it the roll doesn't even sound good! I did try a piece of my girl friends California roll and it tasted great, so I'm positive it was just the Cajun crunch roll that sucked lol! Also, the interior is very nice as well. We hit the happy hour special tonight, 3 hours of sushi and sake... wow.. delicious!!! We plan on making this a regular thing. The service was good, it got a little busy about 8pm so it wasn't as up close and personal as before but still good!! My friend and I will definitely go back, she raved about it and txt'd me when she got home about the fun she had, awesome casual date.. I really recommend showing up early for the happy hour. (sushi, rolls and drink specials) Convenient, if you show up before 8pm kind of intimate/quiet.... food is good and what would have cost us $175 at our usual spot ended up $60 here because of happy hour.. read more

This is probably my fav place to eat in Pasadena. The food is always delicious. I sometimes go in with just me and my 4 year old and she is a fan as well. They give her "kids chopsticks" which are just regular chopsticks with a sugar packet secured at the bottom with a rubber band. She eats everything on her plate with the chopsticks and really impresses everybody with her skills! She likes the teriyaki chicken and miso soup. I like everything! Their salads, soups, chicken, beef, & shrimp- you can't go wrong. My favorite sushi roll is the Philadelphia, but I've had many different ones and I have not had anything I don't enjoy. The prices are reasonable for the portions. Never had a problem with the service or wait times. Just a great place to eat with your family. read more

First time at an ichibons. The hostess was very unfriendly. The grill chef was pretty good except he talked Spanish to the other people at the grill and pretty much ignored us (there were 4 of us and 6 of them). I thought it was kind of pricey for the quality if food but the rice was pretty good. The chicken had good flavor but was dry. I think ShoGuns is a bit better for my taste. read more
