Would recommend. Stopped in for an early Sunday lunch. It wasn't crowded, but there were people dining. The restaurant was clean and we were seated immediately. Everybody we dealt with -- the server, the hostess, another server who walked by, and the manager -- was super friendly and helpful. Food came out pretty quick, and everything tasted fresh. Ceviche tostada (shrimp & fish) -- very good, crispy shell, and all the seafood was good. Combination fried plate, ~$12 -- my wife and I both got this (two pieces of fish, about five shrimp). We opted for the fried rice as a side. Fried rice can be hit or miss at Mumbo, but theirs was very good this time -- fresh, hot, and not overcooked. All the fish and shrimp came out super hot. The biggest thing to understand about Mumbo is the value. It's not the most expensive place you'll go, and the fried shrimp aren't the best you'll ever have -- some people knock it because the food quality isn't Pappadeaux or some of the nicer spots. But I was paying about $12 for two fish, five shrimp, and a side. The value is super good, everything tastes very fresh, and it all comes out hot. They also have an extensive drink menu, so if you want to go for cocktails, I highly suggest it. Specifically for this Mumbo in Pasadena -- would recommend, and would return. read more

We arrived at 9:30 PM Friday night to pick up a bottle of their michelada mix since it was on our way home. While we were there we wanted to grab a quick michelada since we were already there. We wanted to sit at the bar, but it was completely full of dirty dishes and appeared to be sitting there for awhile. We ended up getting seated at a table and the rest of the dining area was dirty and full of tables they had not cleaned up. It seemed they had adequate staff on hand so I'm not sure the reason the tables weren't cleaned up even if it's an hour and a half before closing. I'm not talking about a big party table because I could understand that. Several were small tables full of dirty dishes and the floor was filthy. I'm not exaggerating when I say the majority of the dining area was dirty with only a handful of clean tables. We will never come here again. We'll just stick to our usual favorite on Federal. read more

C'mon, you gotta love Mambo's! Really great prices compared to American seafood restaurants. Fresh as u can get seafood, IT'S ON DISPLAY! for purchase if you want to cook @ home too! But seriously, the value vs. the seafood you get... no comparison. And they have pulpo!! Don't get me started on pulpo... Ok I'm started... Pulpo = octopus... but dang don't let the name turn you off because the name octopus sounds "weird". This is the STEAK of the sea! Forgot tuna. Fishy taste: zero Texture: awesome, slightly chewy, but not overly. Flavor: awesome alone. But it takes on whatever it's seasoned with.. that = delicious versatile seafood. The prices are really good... the seafood isn't the best, but I've had worse (lookin' at you, Sudie's). We got fried shrimp, fried crawfish, and fried catfish. It's not near as good as Razzoo's, but they are no longer here and Razzoo's isn't $19.99 for a similar platter. The shrimp empanadas and street corn were ok, Jimmy Changas are so much better (again, much pricier). I did love the green sauce that came with the empanadas. Service was super sloooooowwww. But was friendly. Biggest disappointment was the flan, it was obviously not homemade and from a store. The ambiance is nice, it's bright and they play salsa which I love. The best thing though, was the rice. It's like Chinese shrimp fried rice! Omg it's sooooo good. My favorite part of the meal. We're visiting the Houston area and found this spot for dinner. Excellent customer service! We were seated and served with no delays. Staff was friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and we enjoyed every morsel! Fried rice was fabulous and the crawfish dinner was delightful. Portions were hefty! Atmosphere was comfortably casual. We door dashed the classic fried shrimp. If you are looking to satisfy a shrimp craving, this will do it with 15 butterflied delicious shrimp. You also get a side. Had lunch there after church. This new location is nicer and feels way safer than the gulf fwy locations. The food was good, as expected. The waitress, possibly new to the job. Messed up our order, we had three #1 meals. She brought out three #3 meals. One of which had a tiny piece of fish which they counted as a fish filet. We did get her attention and requested the correct meals. She was nice, but tried to make it seem like we messed up when ordering. I clearly said three #1 meals a couple of times and she repeated them back to me. Either way it was handled to our satisfaction. Not something I can eat everyday, the high sodium in the food left me bloated for the rest of the day. I had a really frustrating experience at Mambo's. I placed my order at 7:08 PM, and it was supposed to be ready by 7:29 PM. I only ordered two items--calamari and a shrimp cocktail. It's Good Friday, so I can't eat meat, and this was one of the few places I could actually order from. I showed up at 7:40 PM--my food wasn't ready. Came back again at 8:20 PM--still not ready. At 8:30 PM (over an hour later), they finally gave me my order... except they told me they had completely run out of shrimp, so I wouldn't be getting the shrimp cocktail--which was my main entrée. To make it worse, the calamari I did receive was cold. No communication, no urgency, and no real solution offered after wasting over an hour of my time. It's unacceptable to wait that long just to be told they're out of a key item. Really disappointing experience, especially on a day where food options are already limited. I understand that the kitchen was backed up and things happen but at that point yall should stop taking orders and serve what yall can handle instead of letting all these orders go through just to be unable to fill half of them. read more

We ordered the kids food first then ordered ours 20 minutes later. We have been here an hour and my boyfriend's food came out first. My family came here for lunch on a Saturday and got seated right away. Our waitress was great; unfortunately, I can't remember her name. There was plenty of seating but it's strange because they put our party of four next to a large group of guests. That would've been fine but the tables were so close together! Every time our waitress (also their waitress) would attend to either of our parties, I kept having to move over because unbeknownst to her, she kept bumping into me when going between our tables. My advice would be to spread the tables more apart. There's plenty of space to do that. Now for the food. I got the fish tacos. They were terrible. The fish and tortillas tasted old! The tortillas were not soft at all. They tasted like grocery store tortillas taken right out of the package. The tacos lacked flavor except for some spicy sauce they put in it. I would never get that again. Another thing I was bummed about was their so called lemon refresca. The waitress mentioned lemoñada (which I love), so I opted for that. When I looked at the menu, it stated fresh lemonade so I guess that was it. It was almost $6 and tasted like bad water with a drop of lemon juice in it. It was so gross! My dad enjoyed his food. He got the full fried tilapia and rice. I must say their famous rice is delicious! I probably should've stuck to a fried shrimp platter because that's what my husband usually gets and enjoys it. They said they were going to redo it, but she told me they use the same rice all they did was add habanero peppers in there, didn't try it until I got home and the rice is hard and overcooked. I wish I could offer more to this place. The other location that has been around longer had much better Micheladas and bigger oysters. The boiled shrimp were a mess, could not peel them like they were very over cooked. The server was polite and hard working so no way was she a problem. But the food itself needed some work. My family and I went there on Wednesday June 12 we had somewhat of large party. They sat us down. We were waiting for a good 15-20 minutes for them to even come and take our drink order. They sat another large party down across from us about 10 minutes after we got there They got their drink order and their food order taken first. Then, when our entry started coming out, they were coming out one by one by one so as a family like to eat together. We don't like sitting there eating in front of the other person when they haven't had their meal yet. I would not recommend this location I've been to other mambo locations to where we were a large party we got seated and we got waited on right away. We got our drinks and food with them being extremely busy. I would definitely not be back to this location. The manager did come over and ask us how we were doing and I did tell her that I was extremely upset because of how slow and the way we were being treated by being forgotten about she said she was sorry and went and checked on her food, she did give us Something for the next time we come in,but frankly, it was just a waste because we don't wanna go back to that location once we've had a bad experience. she didn't make it right right then and there she said oh for the next time you come in and we spent quite a bit of money there that day.Pasadena location needs to do better. read more
