Seafood is easily my favorite cuisine, so whenever I'm near the coast, I make it a point to try different seafood restaurants. This time, we went to Floyd's--and it exceeded expectations. I ordered the Fisherman's Stew, a generous combination of calamari, octopus, shrimp, fish, and more. It was excellent. Although it presents like a soup, the texture is far richer and more substantial. The deep, robust tomato base gave it an almost Italian character--layered, comforting, and full of flavor. We also tried the chimichurri oysters, which were fresh, clean, and beautifully briny. The salmon--ordered medium--and the one-pound portion of crawfish were equally impressive. The salmon, in particular, was cooked to perfection--tender, moist, and well-seasoned. To be honest, the exterior of the restaurant is not especially impressive. At first glance, it gives the impression of a small, casual spot where you might expect overcooked, overly salty, fried seafood. That assumption was completely wrong--and I found myself quietly apologizing for the misjudgment. Inside, the atmosphere is inviting, cozy, and clean. As for the service, our waitress was adequate--neither especially warm nor unfriendly. She wasn't particularly fast, but she wasn't slow either. She simply did her job. While the service wasn't remarkable, it certainly wouldn't keep us from returning or recommending this place. Floyd's is a genuine hidden gem--one I would gladly visit again. read more

I always get the Little Lafayette Platter since it comes with fried fish and fried shrimp, not to mention their amazing chicken and sausage jambalaya. The staff is always super friendly, and the place has a great homey vibe. They also serve very good drinks. Last but not least, their homemade tartar sauce is the best tartar sauce I've had anywhere. I sat at the bar and enjoyed Floyd's Happy Hour (HH) specials. The margarita wasn't anything special but the Cajun Bloody Mary was much better! The Dawg Shrimp were excellent and cooked to perfection, not overcooked! The Dawg sauce dip was phenomenal, initially I thought it would be oily, not at all!. I asked for some to take home. I also ordered Garlic toast to eat with the Dawgshrimp. It was one of my better ideas. I strongly suggest you try them together! The Onion Rings were as good as I remembered. A great spot for a no-frills, tasty seafood dinner. We visited for a late lunch on saturday in the midst of post-thanksgiving shopping. It was pretty busy for a random time but no wait. I can imagine it gets busy during prime times. The menu offers what I consider a more traditional SETX/Louisiana seafood selection including all of the fried options, gumbos, etoufee, pasta, and other blackened/grilled preparations. Portions sizes were huge! So a great value for cost. We ordered a cup of gumbo, Caesar salad, crab bisque, a platter with fried fish/shrimp/jambalaya, seafood pasta, grilled flounder. Food came out quickly and well prepared. Definitely don't pass on the bisque. Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and accomodating. Parking is abundant. We really love to have lunch or dinner at Floyd's Seafood. But we have recently gotten shrimp that was so tough that it was not edible. The last 3 times we have been there the shrimp has not been good. Not really sure why we keep returning, just hoping it turns back around. I was kind of worried because the reviews were mixed. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Service was overall decent but not sure why the napkins had a musty smell. The silverware and napkins looked clean, just that funky smell. Service could have been more attentive. The food itself came out hot and fresh. We ordered a variety of items. The ones I tasted were fried alligator, fried calamari, chicken & sausage gumbo, flounder, and Bub's shrimp platter, and chicken & sausage jambalaya. Portions were generous, you won't go hungry here. Prices are on the more expensive side but I'm sure people are aware of that, going to a seafood place. About a 4.5. On the food itself. It's a 4 with the service included with the score. -fried alligator 5 - tastes a lot better than the one I had in Minnesota. That gravy makes it taste even better. The taste is similar to fried popcorn chicken but not quite. -fried calamari 5 - it was crunchy and moist on the inside. Make sure you dip them in the Creole sauce to amplify the taste. -chicken & sausage gumbo 4 - not the best gumbo I've had but pretty decent. A lot of meat in the gumbo and bread was soft. I like to add some of the rice to the gumbo and then use the bread to scoop it up. The bowl can be shared by 2 people. -flounder 5 - I had a sample of this. It was flaky, not burnt, and delicious. -Bub's shrimp platter 5 - the crab stuffed shrimp is definitely the highlight. The shrimp en brochette is basically bacon wrapped shrimp. Second favorite. The fries and grilled shrimp are both good but not as tasty as the other two. -chicken & sausage jambalaya 5 - this is a huge dish that can easily be shared by 2-3 people. If you are coming in with a larger party don't bother! 2 hour wait for a party of 13. We all's called beforehand to check on wait times and they stated 30 minutes. Plus very few people are sitting in the wait area. They informed us that they close at 9pm when in reality they really close at 10pm. The hostesses are rude and don't act like they want your service. We came today to celebrate a friend's birthday. She had never been to Floyd's and I'd never been to this location, so we decided to try it out. When I pulled up, I thought the outside was pretty cool. It looks like you're getting on an actual boat. When I walked inside, I was seated immediately by our waitress, Clarissa. She was very nice and attentive without being overly present. My baby and I got to the table and were waiting for my sister, niece, and friend. While I waited, I noticed a weird smell, but I realized that the smell was kind of fishy and considering we were at a seafood establishment I figured it was probably normal. I also noticed a fan running in the corner and was hoping that they weren't having AC issues, because I cannot eat when I'm hot. It felt fine in there though, and I never got warm throughout the entire meal. They got there shortly after I sat down and we all decided what to order. I knew what I wanted because I had it at the Beaumont location a few months back. Seafood Pasta with no pasta. It's a weird request, but I can't have pasta and this dish is SO good. Plus it's A LOT of food which is perfect for sharing with my little guy and still taking home some leftovers. Everyone was satisfied with their food and we had a great time. We didn't let them know that it was our friend's birthday, so I'm not sure if they do free desserts or birthday songs, but we didn't need any of that. I also didn't visit the restroom so I can't speak to its cleanliness, but my friend did and she didn't mention anything out of the ordinary about it. My husband wanted seafood for lunch. He decided on this place because of the good reviews. we were supposed to have one waitress, but got someone else instead. I don't know the exact reason, but you can clearly tell our waitress wasn't in a good mood. I'm sorry, we all have bad days, but please try not to show that to your customers. We could barely hear her half the time too. At least she did her job well, but it just seemed like she had an attitude. Not once did I see her smile. I don't like seafood, so I ordered the wagyu steak. It came with mash potatoes, and man were they the worst potatoes I've ever had. The steak was mid. My kids ordered Alfredo and chicken strips. I tried one of my kids strips, and it had no flavor to it, whatsoever. So bland. The Alfredo was decent but had too much salt. My husband said his fish was good, but the fries weren't the best. The pretty mash you see were both cold & instant. The food runner was very kind and got me some fresh ones. The gravy they sent out for the mash was creamy and oddly sweet, I guess they were going for something with that? We didn't eat it. My husband ordered a chocolate cake to go and they said it was pretty good. It was clean. It gave off a sort of "hole in the wall vibe." Dinner Prices and place just don't go hand and hand. My husband said he would be willing to go back and try something else like the boiled seafood, me not so much. I was left unimpressed. Too many other options in the metro. This was my first experience at Floyd's. I didn't know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the made to order onion rings and they were pretty tasty. Nice crust, good flavoring and a good amount in the order. It was served with a blah ranch dressing, but mayonnaise really made the difference. If you haven't tasted them with mayo, don't knock it. For my entree, I ordered the Calcasieu Flounder. Everything on the plate was perfect. Seasoning, sauce, and portion size were all on point. The blackened fish was crusted well and paired ex excellently with the sauce and dirty rice. The pan fried oysters and crawfish added a nice touch. The only complaint I had was that the frozen house margarita needed some alcohol in it. ‍ All in all, it was just a lime flavored slush. The waitress was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Her suggestions were spot on and the speed of service was great. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained. The restrooms followed suit. I would highly recommend Floyd's and plan on a return trip soon. read more

The atmosphere of the place is kind of like a down-home diner. There is a guitar and a cutout of a young George Strait? Mickey Gilley? behind the bar as well as a prodigious amount of wood as part of the décor. They specialize in Cajun seafood. And I have to say it was pretty good. There were 5 of us and we enjoyed gumbo Pasta shrimp, fried oysters, fried fish, stuffed crab, grilled fish and alligator tails. Unfortunately, like many places that serve french fries, the platter was more than half filled with them, and there were too many to eat at one sitting. However, the fries also had the skin on which made them taste a little better. The gumbo was especially good and the roux was just right. Also, they did not use too much rice, so you felt like you had a good portion. The seafood platter had enough food for 3 meals for a smaller person and at least 2 for a larger one. The strawberry lemonade was also delicious. There was a wide selection of alcoholic drinks,but we did not partake as it was an early dinner. Service was good and a server checked back with us frequently to make sure we had enough drinks and anything else we need it. We were in the mood for some crawfish since the season has begun.Floyd's was our go to spot in the Clear lake area as one of our local favorites. Floyd's has a great environment to enjoy your food.They provide the customers a patio area in addition to indoor dining. As for the crawfish Floyd's is running a special 3lbs for going for 7.99 per pound.Add on items are 1.00 per each corn,mushrooms,and potatoes. Crawfish experience was really good.The size was about medium but well seasoned. Our server provided excellent service making sure that our party had everything we needed. Want to get some good seafood and experience a boat like restaurant? This is the place for you. It reminds me of a place like Captain Tom's, although I didn't see any outdoor seating. There are two entrances and lots of parking for accommodation. The menu is overloaded with everything from fried alligator to catfish and from stuffed shrimp to non seafood dishes. So there's literally something for everyone. My table decided to do the chips and spinach and artichoke dip. You have the option to have it with crab in it (we didn't but that would be a nice thing to try next time). The dip itself is very creamy and delicious; they also give you a nice boat like dish with plenty of it. Good starter! I had the Floyd's Seafood Platter which consists of fried (or grilled depending on your preference) oysters, catfish, shrimp, a stuffed crab, and fried for the side. I was impressed with how much food is included. Heck I think I started to get full about halfway through the meal. We even had some leftovers for the next day. There are many more combos and platters to try, so I think I'll indulge in some grilled seafood next time! Overall, I think this is a great spot for tourists to come and try if you're coming from out of town. There are several locations around the Houston area and beyond. The staff was really quick and efficient, and I think I'll come back for a once a month "treat yourself" meal. My only flaw here would be the lack of (if any) outdoor seating and how crowded the bar area gets easily. Other than that, I'll be eating here more often! read more

Delicious crawfish bisque and red snapper ponchartrain are my go to unless I order the appetizer of sautéed crab fingers. Wow! This place was recommended to me by one of my co-workers and it did not disappoint! Service was above and beyond amazing and we didn't have a wait. Dining room was filled with most eating crawfish. Dining room was clean and also fun that the restaurant was in a boat. The crawfish were huge and also at a reasonable price of $5.99/lb. Floyds is a great place to visit for good drinks & a good meal. The atmosphere is always fun and lively when we visit. The bar is always the most crowded area of the restaurant and there seem to be quite of few regulars. The staff is friendly enough without being overbearing, and very laid back. Floyds has some of the best Lunch Menu options around. Their options are almost endless and plenty of non-seafood items as well. Floyd's reputation in the world of Cajun seafood is legendary. There used to be one near my house in Houston. It was downstairs from the Big Woodrow's that used to be on Chimney Rock. Unfortunately, that building was destroyed by flood waters a few years ago during Hurricane Harvey. They had the best crawfish boils. Best shrimp po-boys of all time. I hated to see them go. So it's years later, and I'm on the other side of town. Thank God they have a Floyd's. Hell yeah, I'm going to check them out. The chicken and sausage dark roux gumbo was probably the best I've ever had anywhere. Excellence! Washing it down with cold Lone Star beers is perfection. Now, for the fried shrimp po-boy, let me explain.... Floyd's bakes this garlic bread that is insanely delicious. Try to wrap your brain around this for a second. Fresh gulf shrimp fried and added to garlic bread. Add lettuce, tomatoes, roumalade sauce. Lemons, cocktail sauce, and tartar sauce on the side. Mind blown! Right? It used to be perfect. Not this day. Shrimp overcooked with thick breading. So much so, couldn't tell if they were fresh or old. Not good. I have to deduct two stars for this. I'll go back again and try again. Oh wow. Looking fora place to eat seafood--and found one that was better than I hoped. Cajun in Oklahoma means spices not cajun This place was so good. A bit expensive. But so good. My husband got a hamburger. I got boiled crawfish. Grandson a grilled chicken It was great. The waiter was very professional. I formative. Kept our glasses full. They have outside seating. A bar area. A nice, what is call a family area, low key but still classy The picnic tables outside were great. It's a very nice place.
