Really wanted to like this place but it fell flat. Menu has a lot of seemingly good options at a reasonable price. We ordered to go and it was a fast and efficient process and packaged nicely. The food was just not that good. Note, they charge a "To-Go surcharge" PER entree which is not indicated on their menu or disclosed by the server when placing an order. Ordered the blackened catfish, rice and beans, coleslaw, fried catfish, dirty rice and Mac and cheese. Both entrees came with a sad looking garlic bread slice each. The blackened catfish was a heft size filet but tasted terrible, not blackened, mushy and not fresh. Coleslaw was just Mayo and slaw, couldn't finish it. The red beans and rice was pretty flavorful but the rice was undercooked. Dirty rice was also "okay" but a little too greasy.

    Unbelievable Bill for Nothing

ZERO TASTE... ZERO Seasoning PERIOD!!!! I ordered the Fried Catfish & cole slaw plate with fries ($16.99) and I added 5 Fried Shrimp ($7.99). My 11 yr old son ordered Fried Shrimp with fries & mashed potatoes side ($11.99). The catfish fillets were big and looked very tasty, but tasted like tofu and so did the flat shrimp with soggy fries. These knuckleheads even charged me $1.48 for using a credit card. Also, while waiting for my to-go order, I witnessed an older couple complaining to the waiter about their bill. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I'm not saying "DON'T GO THERE", but if you're looking for a great fish-spot to waste $41.50 and spend the rest of your day "P-O'ed" please visit The Fish Place in Dickinson.

Very vibrant and unique, with a neat outdoor area and amazing TV placement for those who care about that. Even their to-go counter is well decorated and themed! I can't comment on the atmosphere since both times I've been it's been relatively quiet, but I'd imagine on a busy night this place could have a fun atmosphere. Joshua was our server and he did a good job, and our food came out relatively fast, so no issues with service. As for the food however, I can't be as positive. Last time I had the Mahi Mahi and thought it was fine enough. This time I decided to try one of their burgers. I'll be honest, I like my burgers pretty plain, which is its own can of worms. Point being, the bun tasted very odd and almost stale, and the patty was very mushy and lacked flavor. The signature sauce was also unappetizing, with it being some sort of distant cousin of mustard or potentially a very odd Thousand Islands? I'm not sure if additional toppings would save this considering the unappealing foundation. It just left me very unfulfilled. The milkshakes on the other hand? Fantastic. Definitely the highlight. It was just as good as the last time I went. I haven't been to many other places that matches the quality of here. Could not recommend more. I've yet to try the chicken or other fish so I can't comment on their quality. All I'm gonna say is, burger lovers maybe approach with a grain of salt. 3/5

The steak was tender and cooked right but had more fat than usually found in this cut. My sides were awful. The baked potato (which was loaded, minus chives) had tons of cheese on it, not in a good way and that's it! The potato was hard with a weird texture. It was not like a nice hot fluffy potato should be. I ordered sautéed mushrooms to go on my steak and never have I tasted anything this bad. It tasted like burnt, dirty, greasy grill. I couldn't eat either the mushrooms or potato. My side salad, was lousy, a 7 year old could have done a better job. I didn't dine in so I can't attest to how that is but for $33.00 for just one meal, I was extremely disappointed. So many places are not upholding the good ole, "make good food, make return customers" and Gators unfortunately is one of them. If you don't make consistently good food, expect to lose customers. There are way too many other options. I highly doubt I'll ever eat here again.

The food was good- the shrimp gumbo was delicious but the shrimp were so big you had to take em out to cut them to enjoy- but that's not a problem. The crawfish was meh- no flavor-but nice size and garlic butter helped. The chicken wrap was good and plentiful. Overall not my first choice when we come into town. If you want to buy only a daiquiri, you can't. You have to buy a food menu item, too, but it wasn't even Sunday when they told me this. Daiquiris: delicious and a variety to choose from. Food: The first time I came here I had hush puppies and a daiquiri. They were both good. The second time: a catfish poboy with remoulade sauce, the meaty part of the fish was so thin. I thought it was just a bad day or I received a really small fish out of the bunch, but it tasted okay the remoulade sauce saved it. The third time I ordered a catfish and shrimp platter, which had a nice amount of fries, but I couldn't really see how the catfish and shrimp looked or how many of each I received initially. That wasn't an issue, because I like French fries. But once I ate some of my French fries, that's when I realized that I had 4 shrimp, which were a good size and delicious and 3 catfish PIECES for $27. The two sauces were great. After seeing the catfish and four shrimp, I reviewed their website because the catfish was not catfishing the way that I'm accustomed. Their website says CATFISH PIECES, it's literally HALF of what a standard 3 piece catfish order would be at other places, so ONE AND HALF catfish. Absolutely ridiculous. Mind you the $27 does not include a drink, bread, or a daiquiri in the total price, just the food that you see in the picture, sans some of the fries that I ate. If I ever come back here again, it would only be for the daiquiri. I was disappointed in the catfish flavor, size and cost. I will wait until I visit home to get a better value catfish plate and eat elsewhere in the Houston area, because $27 for this is crazy. Ambiance: There's parking and the place looks clean with plenty of places to sit inside considering the size of the place.

Food wise, Gouda Mushroom Burger is fantastic every time. A great mix of flavors, and a hefty burger, you will not be disappointed. Every time we have come here, someone gets it. The fries are also well seasoned and tasty. Highly recommend. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Chicken. This was absolutely fantastic. Served over a bed of sauteed serrano slaw (which was amazing, I usually don't like slaw), this delightful concoction was stuffed with cream cheese spinach artichoke and cream cheese with a balsamic glaze over the top. It comes with very good mashed potatoes. I don't like most restaurants potatoes, so that's a bonus win. Really enjoyed, would get it again. The beer! They have a really good menu that rotates. They have local craft brews, in addition to your standard domestics. They also have ciders for those that don't fancy a beer. Our last visit I had a Belgian Tripel, and a Pumpkin Stout. Delish! I've been wanting to try Main St. Bistro, so when my sister suggested it for Easter, I was down. We had a party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids). We got there around 1:00 on Easter Sunday & didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. A man took our drink order. My brother-in-law asked to go ahead & order two appetizers. Our waitress, Natalie, came shortly after, introduced herself & confirmed the appetizers. We were brought 4 small cubes of banana bread, which felt weird since there were 7 of us. My toddler & my niece both had a whole one. The other two were split between 4 adults. My brother-in-law didn't have any. The appetizers came out fairly quickly & were gone just as fast. We finally ordered right at 2:00 after a little wait & indecisiveness. Then my son was done sitting in a highchair. My husband and brother-in-law took the kids outside. They played for a bit & walked two laps around the whole strip center. They came back, still no food. My son had a complete meltdown since he was both hungry & now tired, my brother-in-law asked if there was any way they could just rush my son's food. They did and he started eating, everyone was so hungry that they had some bites of his food as well. My mom went to ask the manager if our food was close to being ready. The answer was no, there was a whole list of orders ahead of ours. The manager was kind enough to bring us some spinach dip & apologized for the wait, explaining she was dreading today because the kitchen wasn't equipped for the Easter crowd. She assured us that they were working as fast as possible & we appreciated her honesty & effort. My mom went to her car & asked us to let her know when her food came. Our food finally started arriving at 3:17, and not all at once. My sister's meal came last. By this time my son was done & was getting restless while we had JUST started eating. The food itself was disappointing. My sister and I both ordered Benedicts. Mine (Boudin Benny) wasn't hot and was mushy instead of seared. Both of our poached eggs were undercooked. My sister's also had a large amount of cream cheese that wasn't listed and didn't taste good. Other issues: my mom's fries were cold, my brother-in-law said his chicken fried steak was no good. He ate it because he was hungry, and while my husband liked his sandwich & was happy with it, his fries were cold. My niece enjoyed her burger. My son's shrimp, fries, & macaroni were all hot and good... likely because they were rushed for him. It was 3:45 by the time we left. They close at 3. We received a 40% discount, but there was also a 20% automatic gratuity added, which some in our party didn't expect. Here's where they earn stars back... Natalie was great! She took great care of us & kept apologizing for the delay. We could tell that she felt bad, but it was not her fault. The manager also came by checking on us multiple times & got us settled as best she could. She brought us spinach dip while we waited & she made sure that my toddler got food very quickly after being asked about it. She did thank us multiple times for our kindness & patience. As did Natalie. I too, was appreciative of the kindness they showed us. Most of us have all worked in food service before & we understand that the wait staff can only do so much. We also understand being slammed in the kitchen & how fast paced they have to work in order to handle rushes. I appreciate the 40% discount... 20% after the tip. This review was based on one trip & I will update my review if/when I return. But this visit was definitely not a great experience & if it weren't for the kindness, I'd be leaving one star.

They had our table already prepared which was fantastic, but the restaurant was slow and not very busy. We could've just walked in and, other than having to wait for them to prepare our table, been seated right away. Our waitress, Moriah, was fantastic! She had tables on opposite sides of the restaurant, but since they weren't very busy it didn't seem to be an issue. There were a couple of times when we had to ask for drink refills, but it wasn't horrible. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good, and I appreciate that they have some options that you wouldn't find just anywhere. That's the kind of thing I look for in a restaurant. However there were a few places where they fell short. 1. There was no kids menu. This may not be a big deal for a lot of people. It wasn't a big deal for me since my toddler eats pretty much anything, so we shared. It WAS however a big deal for my 6 year-old niece who does NOT eat anything. They told my sister that they could make some butter noodles or take the harissa off of a pizza and make it a smaller size for her. She opted for the butter noodles which were bland and unseasoned. Then they have no salt or pepper on the tables so she couldn't even season them until she asked for some. It helped, but they still weren't very good. 2. The food is overpriced. It's good food, but the prices were a little steep compared to the quality. My sister and I discussed this later and we both had the same thought. We didn't understand why they weren't busy because they had the potential to be, and it just felt like they maybe were trying TOO hard. I would go back, but this wouldn't be a regular choice for me. I'd be happy to go if someone chose this as an option, and I might even choose to go back for a date night or something. I like the atmosphere of the place as well as how open it felt... I don't love a crowded space. Another thing I loved was the Smoked Caramel Bread Pudding. I'm surprised I liked it so much because I don't typically love added smoke flavor, but this worked! Listen, I LOVE bread pudding. If there's ever bread pudding on the menu, I'm going to get it. This being my birthday dinner dessert was absolutely fine by me. The edges were a little caramelized and it was absolutely delicious and everyone who tried it agreed. Give this place a try, but just know that you may pay a little more than what it's worth. It's still tasty food though! Also... try the bread pudding!
