As a self-proclaimed sushi addict, this has to be my favorite sushi spot in Pasadena. Unlike previous reviewers, I have never had bad service or had to wait to be seated. I can't vouch for how hibachi service/food is either as I get sushi all the time. As far as sushi quality goes, it's good. It takes a few visits to realize which rolls you like, and which ones aren't your cup of tea. I found my favorites to be the Jalapeño roll, Firecracker roll, Shaggy Dog, and the Tokyo Night roll. I wanted to love the Mona Lisa roll because it's a great concept (cucumber rolled instead of sticky rice), but it was lacking in flavor. I'd also like to note how delicious their house salad and appetizers are. The spicy crab salad will make your toes curl, it's amazing. Prices are...pricey, but they have a great happy hour special every day (holidays excluded) that takes the pressure off your wallet. read more

Great food at reasonable prices. The chefs and servers were fun and efficient. We had the hibachi filet mignon and chicken. The meal for two came with a really good salad, veggie tempura, two Japanese egg rolls, veggies and hibachi rice. There were enough leftovers to make two more full meals. You can get a good chicken hibachi meal for under $15, or do what we did and order the pig platter for two, for around $50 total. Come here almost every Wednesday night for dollar sushi. The sushi is great and is decently priced. Their appetizers are fantastic & if they are fried appetizers they always come out nice and hot. I love sitting at the sushi bar when we go. The guys behind the bar are great and it is always fun watching them make the sushi. The fried sushi rolls are amazing (Kingfish Roll is a must try). The staff is really friendly and our waiters are always really great and attentive. We never have to wait long for service. There is a little wait for the food when it is a busy night but it is definitely worth the wait! This place is a must try for sushi lovers!! read more

Fun Japanese steakhouse with very attentive service and plenty of food . Prices are just what they should be and compare to most places that serve hibachi. The food is great and of course very entertaining. Lots of families were dining on the particular Friday we came, so lots of kids and energy. We were sat pretty quickly and didn't have to wait very long for the table to be ready for the chef to start . Drinks came out fast and if you wanted to order anything off the menu the server was there and ready to go. This place really took us by surprise! They had an extra touch to everything. Firstly I was so shocked when we received the salad before our Hibachi Chef came out. There is crab on it!!! It was so good and very big. Usually other places give a small basic salad. After that the food was phenomenal and my fiancé and I both agreed it was one of the best hibachi places we've been to. Well this place was a it of a disappointment. Maybe sushi is different in TX vs CA, but I'll take any place in CA compared to here. I went in alone for happy hour and my Bill was $52! ...and I'm still kind of hungry. The rice on sushi and rolls was still hot. The hand rolls were set up so you get a bite of fish followed by one bite of fish with rice and the last fight was nothing but rice. 1/3 bites were good. There was no cucumber for crunch in any of the hand rolls. I ordered a grilled garlic squid off of the happy hour menu and it came out a half hour later iced cold and very rubbery. It was disgusting. When the waiter asked if I wanted a box for it I told him I did not like it but he did not take it off the bill. The service was very quick since the place was empty but I sat there with dirty dishes and an empty beer bottle for the entire meal. Honestly I been wanting to go to a hibachi grill and we came across this one me and my girlfriend very excited of course to see what the options where and they were good order a little bit of everything I got me a tea and my girl got sprite now I was drinking my drink and there was a small spider I was very disappointed and let the manager know but he said "I don't know how that could happen everything is clean" which I mean who knows how it got there but I was drinking from it and that threw me off overall the food was good. read more

Every time I go to Ichibon it's been a great experience. Service: My best friend and I always ask for Mark, I feel like I should keep him a secret but he is the most attentive waiter I've had not just at Ichibon but any restaurant. His timing is always perfect on refills and checking up on us. He knows the menu well and made some unexpected recommendations we really enjoyed. If he's not a manager he needs to be as he sets the bar high on customer service. Food: The food here is great! Sushi is always priced well. There are plenty of opportunities for happy hour and they have other specials on Wednesdays. The food is well prepared and always tastes fresh. This place definitely isn't traditional. Comparing this place to others like it the food is average at best. There was a huge pile of crumbles on top of the salad and I had a soup at the bottom of said salad. We ordered the imperial meal. The shrimp was very chewy, chicken was dry and over cooked. The filet was cooked perfectly. I ordered the chicken teriyaki for my son and told her that I wanted to substitute the sides for noodles. When we got our bill I saw we had gotten charged for the noodles. I was told that "you didn't tell us that" when l indeed did. I said if I didn't tell you then why didn't my son get those items (he didn't want them anyway). She made no attempt to rectify the situation. Also, when I called to make the reservation they didn't tell us that their credit card machines were not working due to bad telephone issues. (But their phones were working. Those machines work on phone lines) We found out when we walked up to the door. We had to drive to an ATM. Needless to say I will never go back. read more

We only go here because of their awesome bartender Gina, she has a very unique, kind but cool personality. She's real & that's what makes us go back every time. We have been going there just to have her service for over 2 yrs. & every time we are there we aren't the only ones that want to just sit at the bar because of her. Her fast & good service is what's makes this place somewhere to go when you want a good drink & sushi or some Chinese food. She deserves to have these five stars & more! read more

Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch and was quite disappointed. We got the garlic soy edamame and had it made spicy for 50 cents extra. The first problem was the edamame tasted like it had been in the bottom of a freezer for awhile, then the "spicy" part means they throw on a tiny pile of powder on top covering the very center and nowhere else. Then the sushi was alright, nothing to write home about. Lastly, there was our waitress. She seemed nice enough but literally had the bare minimum of interaction with us. Gave us our food, didn't say anything else and left. Gave us our check, didn't thank us or bid us goodbye in any way. Place wasn't busy enough to justify this either. Go down the street to little Tokyo if you want a better selection and price. In conclusion, won't be coming back here again. read more

I used to love this place, it's still pretty good though to pales in comparison to places like Benihana. When we went tonight we noticed they started to skimp on the crab that comes in the salad before the meal. For the amount of money you pay, they should give you a little more. Also, the service of the waitstaff is rude and uncaring. The hibachi chefs are entertaining though. It's definitely far lower quality for only a slightly smaller price than other hibachis. I do reccomend the dollar sushi wednesdays tho. read more

For starters, there are three areas to this restaurant. They have hibachi style, regular seating, and you can eat at the bar. The bar has the shortest wait but it's first come first serve and people usually leave a seat open between them. So, it's best if you're by yourself. I try to come here every Wednesday for the $1 sushi menu. The sushi isn't the greatest out there, but definitely worth more than the dollar they charge on Wednesdays. There is also a happy hour menu (from 4-7pm) that you can combine with the $1 sushi for extra savings. read more

I normally love Ichibon but they cannot handle themselves on a weekend. I called to place a takeout order and got put on hold for 10 minutes then someone picked up the phone and hung up on me. I called back and they eventually took my order. Ordered 2 rolls and they only put in the order for one. Staff was unapologetic and blamed me. I personally work in the service industry at a place that is WAY more high volume and we would be ashamed of customers had the same complaints. Disappointed and it will probably be a while before I return. Good food, lousy staff. read more

I have been to the Ichibon in Greenpoint area and have always had good food and service BUT this location is the total opposite. I called in my order at 12:15, the first call the lady transferred me but no one pick up after 5mins than I called again to tell her that no one picked up, so she took my order. She advised me that it will take about 25 mins because of the beef maki, I said no prob. I got held up at work so I didn't get there until 12:54. THE ORDER WAS STILL NOT DONE. Two of the waiters told me that the beef maki takes a long time and that they were busy BUT 45 MINS??? I told them that it was ridiculous. I asked him to go check and let me know how much longer. He came back to tell me 5 mins and asked me if I still wanted it. I told him that I still did. ANOTHER 15 MINS went by and it was finally done at 1:07. When I got back to work, they freakin got the order wrong. To Go order total mins = 52 mins The food was nothing special but the service and management was horrible DON'T COME HERE. I came here on a business trip for lunch. Decided to dine at the bar. Kim was my server. Happy and very knowledgable about their selection. She suggested few items after asking several questions about my food preferences. Ideal and fantastic. I ordered snow crab roll. Five stars. Awesome place for friend or family dinners it's awesome when they cook in front of you I recommend hands down good service price us at level with food. Favorites for me are the teriyaki salmon, teriyaki steak and chicken I always upgrade my steamed rice to fried rice.
