When you first step in you can feel the peaceful energy, the hostess was very quick to seating us at the perfect booth. Our server was Marina, she went about and beyond for us making sure every dish was delicious for us. She even broke it down to how we should cook each dish, she was so attentive and kind. She checked on us multiple times and served us really fast. The Shabu shabu for two was more than enough food for my lady and I. The lobster was worth the extra 25 bucks, it was sweet and fresh. The corn, omg was really sweet too. Marina told us how to cook each cut of meat and it was really delicious. This place is bougie and I love it. They even have floss and mouthwash in the restroom for you after you eat. I am fat, happy, and sleepy as I write this I apologize if it's a sporadic review. I couldn't afford to take my lady on a first special date until two years later, this was the perfect spot for us to celebrate. She's really picky with food and she said it was awesome. This is now our go to restaurant when we're in the area. Such a beautifully decorated restaurant. P.s. whoever is the hiring manager did an awesome job hiring Marina, she's the goat!

Service was great. Employees were awesome. As a first timer here employees took their time going over the menu and how to cook the ingredients. Hotpot was great. Cozy environment to enjoy a meal.

This place honestly reminded me of being back in Japan, which is probably one of the biggest compliments I can give. We made reservations, but when we first arrived it wasn't very busy. That changed quickly though. By the time we had been seated for about 30 minutes, the restaurant was filling up fast and I could see why people recommend making a reservation. The inside is beautiful but still feels warm and cozy. One of my favorite parts was the sauce bar in the back. I always get excited when hot pot places have a good sauce bar because it's fun trying different combinations, and this one had plenty of options. Every bowl ended up tasting a little different depending on what I mixed together. There were only three of us and we were having a hard time deciding what to order. Thankfully our server, Latonza, was amazing and helped us figure everything out. She answered our questions, made recommendations and helped narrow things down without making us feel rushed. We ended up getting the Shabu Shabu for 2 and added some extra meats, sides and another broth. I loved that everyone could choose a broth they liked and cook everything exactly how they wanted. I got the Taiwanese Spicy Mala broth and it was packed with flavor. Also, it's nice that I didn't have to cook for everyone because I'm usually the last to eat lol This time everyone was on their own! For meats, we ordered the prime rib, short rib, and sirloin. They came out sliced super thin and cooked in just a few seconds. My husband also added crab sticks, and the set came with a nice variety of vegetables, tofu, sausages and other items. There was more than enough food for us. I did ask if they used Fresno State Corn since it's the season! But they do not since they can't get it all year round. Had to ask! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal here. The restaurant was clean, the food was delicious and the service was what really made the experience stand out. We'll definitely be back.

We loved it. We went almost 2 weeks ago, birthday dinner for one of my faves. I'm glad my friend chose this spot because I've been wanting to try it out since it opened. Aesthetics were great. Loved the decor inside, asian vibes. The lighting, the mood, perfect. I especially liked that lit up wall art. Greeted with smiles, nice wait staff, great service, now-- the food... Since it was three of us, our girl suggested we get the Shabu Shabu for Two + extra pot of broth + extra side (noodles)... we did just that. Two of us got the Spicy Miso (I wish we can sample all the broths first to make a decision but I went with the safe choice that I knew I'd like), and birthday girl got the Shitake Mushroom broth. Two of us got the Udon noodles, one got the ramen. We also ordered one bowl of rice to share. We opted out of the Seafood choices and just did the Premium cuts - 2x Chuck Sirloin, 2x Prime Ribeye. The Shabu Favorites are great that came with it. My faves out of the bunch: corn, enoki mushrooms, and the bok choy. I enjoyed the money bag as well. My least favorite? Didn't care much for the sausage... it wasn't bad but the sweetness threw me off for this meal in particular. The meats were perfect-- loved how thin they were. Made it easier to eat and it was just the right amount. If we didn't get the rice, we probably wouldn't have struggled much to eat all of it (but we did it). The sauce bar is always a great touch. People can create their own sauce(s), their own spice level, flavor profiles... as many as they would like. I've gotta admit, I misjudged and thought it wouldn't be too spicy so I packed that bad boy with peppers! Oh, she was spicy enough, lol. I made two sauces-- one with the works, the other with just the peps and sesame oil. As for the Yuzu Marg mocktail? Delish!! We loved it! Very yummy and refreshing! They gave my friend a nice little birthday treat. We all took a couple nibbles off of it but couldn't finish because we were already so full! We liked it though. Anyway, as I've already said-- we loved it! I'd definitely go back. Can't say it's my favorite Hot Pot spot though-- right now Vegas holds that title but I'm glad to know we have something that can make me happy here in Fresno.

The food was amazing. The service was great too. They were very attentive and helped with everything we needed. There was also a sauce bar where you get to make your own sauce. The price was higher than expected for the small amounts of food you get, highly NOT recommended to get the oysters or scallop if you are looking to get more meat. All foods seemed fresh and delicious. The ambience was amazing. I'm giving it a 4/5 just for the price.

Can't say enough good things about Ichi Shabu. We had the most patient, kind waiter who provided a detailed explanation of the somewhat confusing menu. Definitely hard to do for a party of 9! He also was extremely kind to an elderly guest that was part of our party, kneeling down to have a conversation with her, walking her through the different dishes and providing a friendly comfortable experience. The food at Ichi Shabu was outstanding. Most of our party ordered Shabu Shabu. You order the type of broth from 8 options available and choose the proteins that come along with a large plate of super fresh veggies, tofu and sausage. We all loved our individual broth selections and the meat and veggies were plentiful. We also tried the mushroom tempura and several other appetizers, all of which were delicious. There is a sauce station where you can go and make your own customizable sauce to dip your finished meats in....loved that there were lots of options to make it mild or spicy. There's some really cool art inside and the whole place gives off a hip vibe. Will definitely be returning soon!

I love shabu shabu and have dined at many spots over the years, so I don't say this lightly -- this was the best shabu shabu restaurant I've ever eaten at. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant feels clean, elevated, and thoughtfully designed. I was greeted by a friendly hostess and felt welcomed right away. This visit I was dining solo, which meant ordering à la carte. I've never done shabu that way before, but I actually loved the flexibility to choose exactly what I wanted. The cocktails were outstanding. I had the blood orange martini and it was perfect. For dinner, I ordered the A5 Wagyu and the Wagyu short rib. Both were incredible, but I actually preferred the short rib because it had a heartier texture and richer bite. Absolutely delicious. My server was phenomenal -- answered all my questions and even made me a custom dipping sauce that was so good I wanted to bottle it up. The entire staff was attentive without being intrusive, constantly refilling water and checking in at the right moments. There were also little touches that really stood out. A hostess brought me a hair tie so I could pull my hair back while cooking -- I've never experienced that anywhere before. The bathrooms were spotless and stocked with floss and mouthwash, which says a lot about the attention to detail. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Amazing food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. I'll absolutely be back.

Our party of 8 checked in, and we were seated before the 30-minute table wait. Loved the earthy aura upon entering and the welcoming hosts. We were sprightly and purposively given our menus individually with two hands, a very respectful gesture and Asian custom. Our entire party had not dined here before, so our server was informative, patient, and super helpful familiarizing us with the menu. To begin, we opted for water, sodas, and Ichiban Sangrias. The two children in our party ordered Kids' Egg Fried Rice and Chicken Katsu with White Rice. The four adults ordered (appetizer) Chizu Poro Katsu, Shabu Shabu for 4, Shiomi Set, 2 Classic Tonkotsu, Udon Noodles, and 2 Ramen Noodles. We were then motivated and led to the sauce station. The sauce station had ten scoop options to add, [oyster sauce, sesame paste, Japanese chili oil, ponzu soy, crispy garlic oil, green onion, lime slices, fresh garlic, fresh cilantro, fresh Thai chili,] 5 bottles to squeeze, [sesame oil, fish sauce, rice vinegar, soy sauce, another sauce] and 2 glass shakers to sprinkle [sugar, togarashi] for one's own sauce concoction(s). We were in awe by the presented and served spread of broth, noodles, fresh shucked oysters, head-on Tiger shrimp, scallops, crab sticks, Japanese fish cakes, yellowtail, abalone, corn, crown daisy, tofu, money bags, Chinese sausage, baby bok choy, and Japanese fish cakes. Before we dove in, our server shared with us how long each should be cooked before enjoying. EVERYTHING was delicious. Excited to have some remaining deliciousness to take home, we happily received it packed in the reusable take away bag. We sweetened our meals with a Yuzu Cheesecake and Matcha Tiramisu. Our friend couple was gifted a complimentary dessert for their anniversary. Of the three, I tried and loved the Yuzu Cheesecake. We all hope to return very soon.

Delicious hot pot! Not all you can eat but their set menu was filling and was more than enough meat and vegetables. Drinks were delicious and fit in with the food. Waiters were friendly and helpful with ordering as it was our first time there. Definitely need a reservation if going on a weekend as I can see it's a popular place. Plenty of parking at a shopping plaza with other restaurants and shops nearby.

Delicious food, amazing service, and a beautiful restaurant! We got the four hot pot soup deal, which was an excellent deal! It was just enough food! Our server Denise was extremely helpful! She gave us great recommendations and also explained everything thoroughly. She mentioned the "money bags" were her favorite soup addition and then were amazing! I also got the matcha float, which was delicious! It was very creamy and tasted almost like coconut. Broth was, if you like spicy, then the spicy miso would be your best bet. It was slightly more than mild. The tonkotsu broth was very creamy and warm as well. But my personal favorite was the tomato soup broth. I think the only issue I had was that I wish the sauce had more options like their J-Pot counterpart.

    Shabu for Four

Shabu has been on my Grandma's mind ever since she learned of Ichi Shabu's opening! During the holidays, when our family was all in town, she asked us to come here. I made reservations, and we enjoyed every bit of our experience! We arrived in the early evening. The restaurant was extremely accommodating with the notes I made. They took such great care of us during our entire meal. Our server was excellent! He was so polite, personable, and fun to chat with regarding food and general life stuff! The restaurant's layout is quite lovely! It's a bit dark inside, but it adds to the ambiance. The inside was modern with Japanese decor. They have their sauce bar, a bar, and plenty of seating for all party sizes. Shabu shabu is a Japanese hot pot. Being Japanese, my grandma definitely has certain expectations and standards, and Ichi Shabu delivered! We opted for the Shabu Shabu for Four, where we chose our four meats and three seafoods. For the four of us, this was a lot of food! Everything was fresh, the broth was fabulous, and the proteins tasted good. The only inconsistency was the heat for the broth; some stove tops worked better than others. My family loved the sirloin the most, and I enjoyed the pork shoulder. I also liked my dashi broth and my aunt's tonkotsu! We love how Ichi Shabu can be catered to your own preferences and how fun the experience is! We'll definitely be coming back for the food and excellent service! Find them at Campus Pointe with free parking out front!

For my first experience at hot pot, the food was good but the experience was a bit confusing. This is my reason for a less than 5/5 review. My friend had invited us for a birthday dinner and made the reservation. We arrived and were told our table was given to another party. This was a bummer but I made the best of it given I don't get to hang with the girls that often. After we did get our table, our server came and started to take drink orders. This was pretty standard so no complaints here. I ordered the sangria which was really yummy. The menu on the other hand was where I got lost. I'm not sure if the server was new or just assumed we all knew how to order, or how the food was served or what but she didn't give much of an explanation of how we should order. For example, everything is basically a la carte, including the add ons, like the veggie bowl - it was pretty large. What I'm trying to say is that she could have suggested we share one between the group because we all ordered one with our broth and had to take most of it to go since it doesn't all fit in the single serving broth pot. All in all, I'd go back because the food was delicious but now I also have knowledge of what to do.

Melon ice tea was so delicious and refreshing!

We headed in at an odd time yesterday around 230pm. It was late for lunch and too early for dinner. Nevertheless, we were seated in the front dining area, and ordered some entrees. The menu offers a lot of familiar favorites that you would expect to see at a a bar/ restaurant. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and a few specialty plates. For my meal, I ordered The Local burger (no pickles of course) which was absolutely fantastic. Piled high with cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomatoes - this burger was executed to perfection. I ordered it medium, and it came out medium (imagine that). The best part was the sunny side egg that was placed on top. That first bite was heavenly. The yolk breaks, and all the goodness adds a little extra flavor to the already delicious burger. The shoe string fries were seasoned perfectly- I highly recommend this entree. The only thing I would add next time is an element of spice to take things up to another level. My wife ordered the BLTA sandwich , with sweet potato fries. I didn't try a bite because I had enough bacon on my burger , but I did sneak a sweet potato fry , and it was fantastic. My son order the chimichurri steak , he seemed to enjoy it although it may have had too much sauce on it for his liking. Perhaps it would been better if he ordered the sauce on the side. My picky daughter ordered the pesto chicken sandwich ,and she said it was pretty good. My family and I were full , but weren't going to let the dessert options pass us by. My family has a sweet tooth. We all shared the chocolate cake and bread pudding . Both are nice options if you need something sweet to top off your meal. The food and vibe of this place deserves 5 stars. I will deduct one star for the mediocre service and inconsistent food prep. Our meals were coming out one by one which made it awkward when trying to eat together. Our server didn't offer refills on our drinks , and didn't bring us utensils -until we asked for them. I will be back to try more menu items , and enjoy a cold beer while watching the game.

The shrimp scampi was well-seasoned and flavorful, paired with risotto that was slightly undercooked but not enough to take away from the dish overall. The chimichurri steak, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully--the chimichurri sauce was definitely the highlight. Our server, Jen, was also acting as host and bartender, and she handled it all impressively as the restaurant started to fill up. Even while understaffed, she kept everything running smoothly until additional staff arrived. Overall, it was a great experience

We were there a little earlier than the night crowd so we had a bit of space and "quiet" time to ourselves in the back for quite some time, took our pics and whatnot. They have a lot of areas that would make for great photo ops for sure. We all ordered different drinks. White Lotus, Havana Mule, & Matchatini. I think we all unanimously agreed that the Matchatini was the best out of the bunch but they were all pretty good... the White Lotus being the strongest out of the bunch. Our waitress was very nice as well and suggested the Matchatini to the birthday girl, which she was already eyeing so that sealed the deal. I don't remember any food options on the menu, for those wondering... we had just came from dinner so that didn't matter to us but it's good to know for next time. The music... was interesting lol. Not something I'd want to listen to all the time but the DJ enjoyed himself. I hope that was just that night and not the music choice every night... Overall, we enjoyed our time here. Very cute spot for a girls night (and date night).
