    This was the old fashioned.

Cute, small bar I happened across while antiquing on a weekend. Met a friend there. We each had the barrel-aged old fashioned which is phenomenal. Friendly staff. Food looked good but we didn't have any as we had dinner planned at another place. They also have live music at times, but there was none while we were there.

This was my 2nd time here, which each experience was different. The 2nd time, my boyfriend and I sat at the bar where we ordered an old fashion and classic margarita. The bartender said there known for the best old fashioned's in town. My boyfriend's an old fashion expert so he was excited. While I was waiting for my drink, I heard the bartender say "I guess I'm making a classic margarita". I thought to myself, is that a bad thing? I was a bit confused. Once my boyfriend came back to the bar we tried our drinks. The margarita was good, and as for the old fashioned, it tasted a bit watered down not strong like other ones we've had in the past. We then heard that the liquor they use for the old fashioned is made of 200 ingredientes (all the dark liquor bottles they have at the bar). This may be a reason why the drink tasted the way it did. We then got our check of $35 and it didn't state what each drink cost. To me, a classic margarita and old fashioned isn't going to cost $14-$16 each. The cost sometimes depends where you're at (restaurant/location wise) and if they have special ingredients on the menu, could be like a speciality/seasonal drink. The ambiance was nice and they had live music like last time, but this experience the same.

Papa's place is a cute restaurant in old town clovis. The decor has an old time feel, and they have live music some days. We started off with the fried green beans. They have a variety of homemade sauces like honey mustard, curry, ketchup, ranch, etc to go with it. Our waiter was nice and gave us some extra sauces to try. This was probably the tastiest part of our meal. For my entree, I got the pork belly. A large portion of it was fat, which is understandable as pork belly is a fatty cut. What I found strange was that some parts of the meat were really dry, and other parts were tender. I didn't like how the greens weren't trimmed. There were several hard fibrous kale bits in the salad which were inedible and a little distasteful. The chicken was also unremarkable. Overall, the food was just "okay" at Papa's place.

Updated drink menu with new cocktails.

Love this place! Kid friendly and a great spot for date night. Staff is always very attentive friendly and consistent with their excellent customer service! Highly recommended checking it out. Food is also yummy. Portion sizes are great

Though the cocktail prices are on the high side, they are delicious and the food is great! So fun when they have live music

I had a date night with my fiancé and they had a live band playing. It was two men. I was wondering if anyone knows who they are?

Look at their Facebook page. I was looking and they show bands that have played. Just scroll down to the day you went. You can probably see a picture there and find out. https://www.facebook.com/papasplaceclovis/posts

The shrimp scampi was well-seasoned and flavorful, paired with risotto that was slightly undercooked but not enough to take away from the dish overall. The chimichurri steak, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully--the chimichurri sauce was definitely the highlight. Our server, Jen, was also acting as host and bartender, and she handled it all impressively as the restaurant started to fill up. Wife and I both ordered the specials, she ordered shrimp over rice that looked pretty good, I ordered the Southwest Chicken Salad. I come here two to three times a month, great staff and great food. Otherwise... I wouldn't come back as often right? The Southwest Chicken Salad had a drizzle of BBQ on griilled chicken, perhaps a spring mix of lettuce and leafy greens, corn, beans, battered and fried jalapeño, and drizzle of ranch with a sliced avocado on the side. Damned if I didn't get the perfect bite with the greens, beans, avocado, chicken, and fried jalapeño... simply amazing. Flavorful, with heat, but NOT spicy... Had a really crappy day, this lunch turned things around. If you are in the Fresno/Clovis Area and have NOT tried the local, you are missing out.

MUST GO TO SPOT IN FRESNO!…read more I have been here twice now and 100% will be coming back again and again with my lady. This place is casual fine dining with super friendly staff. This restaurant knows how to make a mean steak. Seasoned to perfection and actually cooked the way you want it. The best is their dry aged prime and it's worth every penny of it. The dry aged adds such an umami depth of flavor to the meat with the subtle garlic and rosemary aroma infused through the butter that it's cooked in. Couldn't ask for more! Actually you can! The best pairing with their steak has to be the top 3 sides here. Hatched chili Mac and cheese, buttery mashed potatoes, and grilled sourdough! The Mac was smooth and creamy, but that hatched chili that added a subtle back of the throat heat is such a nice added touch! Self explanatory on the butter mashed potatoes, who could resist? The grilled sourdough was perfectly toasted and buttery and it came with 3 toppings, for me is the aioli to spread. I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS A 5! But there is just one miss here. The 4 mentioned were the most recommended by staff and from Yelp. AS YOU SHOULD! It is definitely what to order. The two times we went out here we tried two different dishes outside of the recommended. Their pasta dish and the fried lobster. Unfortunately it was a miss for us. It was good, but it didn't feel like there was much attention to these dishes compared to the one that they are known for. But still good nonetheless.

We had no idea what to expect, but it ended up being such a fun night. There were five of us in our bay, and from the start the staff was super attentive. Since it was our first visit, they walked us through how everything worked and made sure we were comfortable using the system. We had a couple small hiccups figuring things out, but every time someone came by, they checked in, helped us out, and made sure we were good. The bay system itself is really cool lots of sensors and very interactive. That first swing is a little intimidating because you're not sure how hard to hit or where the ball will go, but once you realize you can swing freely and the system tracks everything, it's actually a blast. We ordered food, and honestly, sometimes bar-style places are hit or miss with food but not here. Everything was really good. We ordered sliders, onion rings, bruschetta, and it all came out hot and tasty. My daughter also ordered about three or four Shirley Temples and everyone kept checking in on refills and food. We had the bay for an hour we did not know what to expect but we could have booked it for more time! During our hour were given a heads-up when we had about 10 minutes left, which we appreciated. We actually went a little over while waiting for help moving our food to the dine-in area, and they were very kind about it no rushing us at all. After the bay, we moved to the dine-in area, finished eating, and chatted with our server, who was incredibly friendly and genuinely excited about the place. He explained memberships, told us about the upstairs lounge, and even allowed us to glance around. The upstairs area overlooks the bays and bar and would be great for events or just hanging out it's a really nice setup. The space itself is deceiving from the outside. It looks small, but once you're inside, it's very spacious with deep bays and plenty of room. Noise level was perfect not too loud, music was at a great volume, and we could easily talk, order food, and enjoy the experience. They also host games and fights, with TVs at the bar. As we were leaving, the kids tried the putting area, which was another fun surprise. It has laser-style visuals that show where your ball is going, and they loved it. We probably spent another 10 minutes there just letting them enjoy it. Overall, from the games to the food to the service, everything was excellent. We left with leftovers, happy kids, and a great experience. It's been a long time since we've had service this attentive, and we truly appreciated it. We'll definitely be back. Additionally the decor and vibe is really nice inside! Classy upscale location.
