I ordered 5 rolls online. Pick up was a little odd. They asked for the name on the order. I gave it to them, they handed me the food, and they started walking away. I had to remind them that I still needed to pay. They left to get the handheld payment device. It was taking a while to process. As soon as I said it looks like it's working, they said thank you and left. They didn't verify that it went through. It did go through a few moments after they left but somebody could easily have gotten $100+ worth of free food due to their rush. If they are that rushed on a to go order, it makes me wonder how rushed they are for in-service dining. From my perspective, they didn't look particularly busy. The rolls themself were OK. Certainly better than another sushi spot I went to the week prior, although still nothing special. The rolls looked fantastic. But taste wise there was nothing that stood out, other than the Treasure Box. Four of the rolls were either bland or very much one note only. One of the rolls was also poorly wrapped and easily came apart. The Treasure Box was the only standout. However, the size made it impossible to eat neatly. And while it was good, it certainly wasn't worth $27. The baked salmon roll was also good but nothing special and again not worth $22. I wouldn't say any of the rolls were bad. I was excited to try this restaurant. First thing I noticed when I sat down at my table was that there was soy sauce pooled under the bottle. But I was still excited to try their food. I got the calamari with salmon sashimi and bacon fried rice. It was a lot of food. The calamari was good but I would have preferred to have the sauce on the side because it was too much. We have been in this place multiple times and had ordered sushi rolls for to go in a different occasion since this is very close to our house and it's only walking distance from us. The interior has been renovated recently and it's nicely organized with the lots of space between the tables. It's a calm environment and not that loud which is favorable place to visit with infants. The service has been poor last year since they were under stuffed but now they have improved it which is greatly appreciated. This place is located on Friant and Champlain. In the building next to Azura Nightclub and The Standard. I decided to eat sushi so I went straight to the sushi bar. I was seated and serviced right away. The staffs were very friendly and checked up on me every time. Mori (sushi chef) was so sweet and nice! He plated the sushi beautifully! Absolutely delivered! My favorite sushi is the sashimi platter which is raw high grade salmon and the best toro! Toro is for sure a delicacy, it's like high demand that's why it's so pricy. It is the under belly of a bluefin tuna. The texture is soft, buttery and rich and the word "toro" means melt in Japanese and it says it all! First time dining here! We had dinner here with my husband and two toddlers. The order: we got the three amigos roll and that had salmon, tuna, and yellow tail. Good roll but wished it was packed a little tighter because it kept falling apart. My husband got the red rose that has spicy yellowtail which he gave a 7.5/10, and two kids menu item that includes 2 potstickers, protein ( one got teriyaki beef and one chicken) and they both got an avocado roll. I thought the kids menu was pretty great, quite a good amount of food and has a bit of everything. The potstickers were nice and crispy. We recently visited Teppan Tora for the second time to celebrate a couple of birthdays, and it was such a lovely evening overall. We were seated in the very back room, which felt private and perfect for a celebration. It did get a little toasty back there at times, though thankfully there was an occasional cool breeze that helped. The only real hiccup was that there was some water dripping from the ceiling, and unfortunately it landed on my friend's shoulder. It was not the most pleasant surprise. Hopefully that's something that can be easily addressed. That said, the food was great, the ambiance is vibrant and inviting, and the staff was wonderful as always. Sayuri and her team are doing beautiful things with this restaurant, and you can truly feel how much they care about accommodating their guests and creating a special experience. Nestled in a strip mall in northeast Fresno, I've now been here twice-both times for lunch, once for sit-down, and once for teppanyaki. Both times, there was no wait for sit-down, but there were people waiting for teppanyaki seats. We did sit-down the first time and had no wait. We had a reservation for teppanyaki the second time, and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Both times, the service was really nice--with staff attentive to requests and keeping refills going. Food is good and at a reasonable price, compared to other teppan places in the area. This last time we went was for a birthday. The grill master did a good job honoring the birthday person, and we enjoyed the theatrics, including the onion volcano. We have noted that this place does get a little stuffy (in winter and summer). I'm not sure if the ventilation or AC is not working--but we notice this during both visits. Other than this, we didn't really notice anything that was above and beyond, or anything that took away from our enjoyable lunch. Went there for their lunch specials. The specials come with a miso soup, salad, white rice and two items. We picked chicken katsu and tuna sashimi for the lunch special and ordered a Tuesday special Teppan bowl: bacon fried rice with a choice of meat/vege. The wait for the food was slightly longer than I anticipated, about 20 minutes for the fried rice, and 5 more minutes after that for the miso soup and another 15 minutes for the special. The katsu was not good and was dry. It looked like they fried it the first time, cut it, and it was not fully cooked, so they fried it again. (Or it was old and they refried it again.) I made reservations for my MIL's bday celebration via Yelp party of 6 (2high chairs) for 2:30pm. We arrived 5mins prior to our reserved time. There were already people there waiting as well. I ordered the Tora Trio (chicken, teriyaki beef and shrimp). Our teppan chef was kind and did a few tricks asked if there was an occasion we were celebrating. We mentioned it was my MIL's birthday so it was nice that he did a little show and we sang her a Happy Birthday. At the end he brought out his lights and speaker and presented another fire show. The food was okay nothing spectacular and a bit overpriced compared to competitors. Everything was also a tad bit on the salty side. But I did enjoy the beef and the chicken which was perfectly cooked. Overall glad to have tried not sure if we'll be returning. On my visit, there was no signage to indicate where they are or that they are open; however, if you are familiar with Sakanaya, it's in the same place but with new owners. Had lunch here today with my family and was super disappointed in the atmosphere of this place. It was 82 degrees inside the restaurant. It was so uncomfortable. Our chef was wonderful but the heat was so intolerable that he was sweating which is in no way due to any fault of his own. Imagine sitting for teppanyaki with a hot stove in front of you and the ac being set to 82 degrees inside... we were a party of 7 and we as a family have agreed we will never return here again. This place use to be so good but I can tell they are compromising on important things like air conditioning. The rice was perfectly done, not too mushy, not too firm -- just right, which is surprisingly hard to find. The atmosphere is also a big upgrade -- they've clearly done some remodeling and it shows. Everything feels new and modern with a chic, welcoming vibe. The large koi pond in the back adds a super calming touch, great for relaxing while you eat.
